Jukebox the Ghost Safe Travels

NATIONAL release date: lp: 06.12.2012 Jukebox the Ghost’s third album Safe Travels marks a period in the band’s career that’s steeped in change, both personally and professionally. Relationships dissolved and crumbled. Loved ones passed on. The band themselves relocated from Philadelphia to New York City and played over 250 shows since the release of their last album in 2010. In the midst of so much change, the band spent months in the studio creating what would become Safe Travels, a record that represents a shift in the band’s creative trajectory. “We’ve always been the kind of band that juxtaposes darker lyrics with upbeat music, but this record feels a little more personal," Thornewill said. "In the grand scheme of things, it's certainly not a downer record but you need pain to get joy, and joy to get pain; they're inseparable.” Bolstered by an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, an appearance at Lollapalooza, and extended opening tours with Ben Folds, Guster, Adam Green and Jack’s Mannequin, the band has acquired an incredibly loyal (and sometimes rabid) fanbase since the release of 2008’s Let Live and Let Ghosts. This summer, the band embarks on their biggest headline tour to date after performing at Bonnaroo on the album’s release weekend -- Their Bowery Ballroom show in NYC in June has already sold out two months in advance. TOUR: • Jukebox the Ghost has built a fan base by playing close to 200 dates a year and engaging with their fans on social media • The band is playing Bonnaroo Festival in June before embarking on (yet another) nationwide tour RADIO: • The first single, "Somebody," has already been featured on NPR's All Songs Considered • Full servicing of album to AAA/Non-Comm • Official Add Date for "Somebody" May 14, 2012 PRESS: • Publicity by Shore Fire Media, who already garnered great press for Jukebox the Ghost’s Record Store Day 7” featuring band hand drawn artwork on the cover • Emphasis on TV performances • Will be serviced to all major print and online publications, as well as blogs and other non-traditional media VIDEO: • Five videos will be released, beginning with “Somebody” ONLINE: • Eyes And Ears is executing an extensive online marketing campaign • “Home is Where Our Fans Are” will be an interactive experience that allow fans to share photos of what “Home” means to them. FIRE RECORDS ALBUMS OUT JUNE 12th 2012

GIANT GIANT SAND - Tucson Just when you thought Giant Sand couldn’t get any bigger, Howe Gelb has done just that by regrouping, expanding and magnifying his vision with the newest version of past ensembles, calling it (appropriately enough) GIANT GIANT SAND. As a sort of homage, he’s named the album Tucson after the town he’s called home for forty years. This self -described country rock opera by one of music’s leading risk-takers, is set to be released on June 11th on Fire Records. In GIANT GIANT SAND you will recognise six members, all hailing from Denmark, who have been a part of past incarnations of Giant Sand. In addition, you’ll be introduced to six new musicians from Howe Gelb’s native Tucson making their Giant Sand debuts. The inspiration for assembling these collaborators (or cast if you will) for an album was the idea of a country rock opera, a vision that has followed Howe for decades. Taking place in the town of Tucson , the story revolves around a “semi grizzled man with overt boyish naïveté” who sets off t o escape his hometown and embarks on a life-changing road trip; eschewing all his worldly goods and leaving his girlfriend, encountering jail at the Mexican border, finding love at a train station saloon and fearing the end of the world. The album is a dusty work of art, conjuring images of the desert, rivers, and a cactus-strewn landscape. The GIANT GIANT SAND line-up includes Brian Lopez, Gabriel Sulivan and Jon Villa who bring their Mexican-American heritage to the album with a permeating cumbia style of playing, drawing on African and South American traditional music. Joining them is a string section from Aarhus, Denmark (where coincidently the rest of Giant Sand are from) as well as an Aarhus-based violinist/violist named Iris Jakobsen, who coincidentally was born in Tucson. Fate could not have planned things any better. Track Listing : 1. Wind Blown Waltz 2. Forever And A Day 3. Detained 4. Lost Love 5. Plane Of Existence 6. Undiscovered Country 7. VARIETY LIGHTS - Central Flow More than 18 years since he left the public spotlight, mysterious mad-genius David Baker, legendary frontman of the original incarnation of Mercury Rev, is back with new band Variety Lights. The masterful new album 'Central Flow', due for release in May, is a collaboration between Baker and fellow vintage synth addict Will MacLean and demonstrates that Baker has lost none of his flair for the extraordinary, the experimental and the exceptional. As co-founder and vocalist of Mercury Rev, Baker helped to forge their revolutionary sound with their first two (and most critically acclaimed) albums; 'Yerself Is Steam' (1991) and 'Boces' (1993). The band were highly innovative and weren't afraid to experiment but above all they were loud, fun and hugely influential. In the UK, the critics embraced enthusiastically, as Chris Roberts in Melody Maker said (in his review of 'Yerself Is Steam'): "At last, one of those rare records that revolve along once in a blooming moon and have something new to struggle to say... A daring, brazen, and demented juxtaposition of voice and guitars and timpani flings Mercury Rev, lemming like at your more responsive caches of fear." Having left the band in 1993, Baker went on to release a solo album 'World' under the moniker Shady, which featured members of the Boo Radleys, Rollerskate Skinny, Swervedriver and Th' Faith Healers. At times soaringly catchy and lightheartedly loony, 'World' is a sonic adventure which Vox described as "... awash with fragments of dense noise, stumbling, narcotic-laced tempos and lyrics from outer space... that mutate into spiky, bittersweet pop." Although there has been much speculation about his life during his time away from the public eye, Baker has continued to make recordings and is an avid music fan, working as a producer for various artists. Now he is back, morphed and transmogrified into Variety Lights (a name lifted from Fellini's first film). When he met Will MacLean, Baker found a songwriting partner who shared a passion for analogue synths and electronic psychedelia. Initial experimentation together live to tape – to see how big and crazy just the two of them could sound – started to reveal melodies and Variety Lights was born. Much of Variety Lights’ debut was recorded by Baker at his own Over the Trees studio. The sound was created using a mixture o f chained around-the-room 80's era midi expanders as well as the duo's collection of vintage keyboards and combining them with an array of drum machines and effected guitars. In creating 'Central Flow's sound, Baker says that "personal adventure is and always has been the most important thing". Baker and MacLean found themselves using references to colours, pictures and describing film scenes to help them communicate about their music. As in his early work, Baker took a richly layered approach, using multiple vocals in a search to find emotion in noises and sounds. There are plans to play the songs live with a full band including drums and bass, with dates to follow at some point later on in 2012. Track Listing : 1. Starlit 2. Establishment 3. Sea Faraway 4. Invisible Forest 5. Silent Too Long 6. Oh Setting Sun 7. Sell Your Soul 8. You Are So Famous 9. Crystal Cove 10. Feeling All Alone 11. Infinity Room

WALT WILKINS PLENTY (all new material from Walt…)

WWW.RIDERECORDS.COM A few years ago I returned from a decade in Nashville to my home in the Texas Hill Country. Its an area of limestone cliffs overlooking modest mesquite and juniper trees, along with majestic, matronly live oaks. There’s a dozen meandering blue-green rivers, with great bald cypress and cottonwood trees on their banks, and Bar-b-que, and Mexican, German & southern soul food…….and music, music everywhere. Anchored by 2 great music cities, Austin & San Antonio, the music here is a free mix of jukebox country & soul, blues, Tejano, Storyteller folk, and cowboy songs. The folks here, like the music, are unpretentious, generous, open, and occasionally wild as all hell….and fun, always fun…… This record was made in a spirit of gratefulness for having grown up here, and having come home. These are some of my favorite songs from the last couple of seasons, played with friends who are like family……. Artist: The Hundred In The Hands Title: Red Night 6.12.2012

“sweetly twitchy ... studiously chic” – SPIN

WARPCD227/WARPLP227

THE HUNDRED IN THE HANDS have emerged from their dimly-lit New York studio with a self-produced meditation on separation and reunion, love nearly lost and the long night back to it; a chronicle of late-hour pining awash in digital glow and urban buzzing. Red Night follows the release of their critically acclaimed self-titled debut in 2010. Drawing from the cloudy state of contemporary electronic and hip-hop production and New York City’s long lineage of avant-garde dance music, Red Night is a rare sonic bridge between aesthetic encampments. From shadowy minimal techno to the more linear approach of classic songwriters, these songs are wrapped in brilliantly abstracted production, the calls of loneliness and hopeful abandon. “Empty Stations” and “Recognise” begin the album draped in space echo and lilting harmonics, deftly balancing low-end heft and delicate emotional melody. “Red Night” and “Faded” marry seamless songwriting with encompassing dropped guitars, sampled bells and overlapped processed vocals contrasting goth-Rn’B monster “Stay The Night” and the dense analog house-gaze of “Tunnels”. First single “Keep It Low” (also available as 12“ with remixes) is a grinding jam that foregrounds the sounds of timeless Industrial and Krautrock tracks, whilst maintaining an undeniably affecting vocal performance from Eleanore. The emphasis throughout is on the overarching feeling, the thread that unites the entire album…

GENRE : ALTERNATIVE/FOLK FILE UNDER: “S” Scheidt, Mike “Y” Yob In the last six months, Mike Scheidt has had to quit his day job, twice: the RELEASE DATE : June 12, 2012 first time was when his doom metal trio YOB toured the US and Europe NO EXPORT TRACK LISTING: and the second time was when TOOL invited YOB to tour the US. Yet with

all of this interest and attention, Scheidt still had enough creative energy to record Stay Awake - a very personal, solo, acoustic album for release on Thrill Jockey. A native Oregonian, Scheidt did time in the ‘80s hardcore scene in the midWillamette Valley (he’s lived all his forty-one years in the Eugene area). But with Ken Kesey’s Oregon Country Fair so close, and rainbow gatherings on a seasonal basis right next door, Scheidt was inevitably drawn to some roots beyond his punk and metal leanings. Taking guitar lessons from none other than Zoot Horn Rollo (of Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band) and learning to fingerpick while selling guitars at McKenzie River Music, he found weight and passion in albums by Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Merle Travis, and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

To those familiar with YOB’s front man, the sincerity, raw emotion, and Eastern philosophy that have found their way onto Stay Awake will be no surprise. These are core elements present in any YOB performance or song. They are merely veiled by a wall of sound. During a turbulent, transitional time for him personally, he turned to his guitar and subsequently penned a collection of simple and potent tunes. The process of removing that veil and presenting himself unprotected was a frightening challenge and a rewarding one. The lyrics, according to Scheidt, are based on “the present moment, hope, love and redemption. The big picture caught in a snapshot, looking at fear and doubt squarely, and making friends with them. My words are sympathetic/empathetic to sadness and heartbreak, while exploring transcendental themes in the same breath.” The music combines elements of folk (both Western and Eastern) with epic arrangements and the dramatic emotions, the latter being hallmarks of classic rock ballads. Says Scheidt, “I was exploring epic arrangements not unlike YOB in some ways.” The album was recorded by Sub Pop legend (and more importantly to Scheidt a close personal friend), Tad Doyle at his Witch Ape Studio in Seattle, Washington. The music is meant to be intense, spacious and passionate while still being somewhat straight-forward and familiar. “This music is meant to be inclusive.”

Eternal Tapestry Dawn In 2 Dimensions Thrill - 307 LP $17.99 BOX LOT LP 40

GENRE : ROCK/PSYCHEDELIC FILE UNDER: “E” Eternal Tapestry

Release Date: June 12, 2012 NO EXPORT TRACK LISTING:

After the dark conceptual ambience of Beyond the 4th Door, the members of Eternal Tapestry decided the time was right to do an album embracing their live show - blistering psych rock filled with lyrical guitar soloing and a caveman approach to rhythm, an oddly euphoric state where melancholia is blasted by ecstatic noise. Compiled from a variety of sessions at Tapestry Space throughout the spring of 2011 (some of this material first found a home on the two fall tour tapes), this set of songs has been the foundation for the past year of Eternal Tapestry gigs. The album kicks off with “Wholeodome”, an amphetamine rush that keeps the locked groove in full tilt boogie mode. Saxophone, guitar, and bass triple up on the unrelenting theme recalling Space Ritual era Hawkwind. The song finds the band seeking enlightenment via crushing volume and dank fuzz. A bit of vocal bleed splices into “Bread of Dreams”, an ode to ergot tainted rye. Melody serves as the perfect backdrop for classic dual guitar interplay. The band never strays far from the melodic core of this serene jam, keeping the vibe focused until it fades into a strange sound collage of wildly panning African field recordings and pastoral fingerpicking. The side ends with the epic “Marrow of the Wand”, an organic cosmic music taking the listener on a journey through far reaching realms of imagination. Side B is one continuous piece of music played live, with the band hitting three distinct sections. Starting with the slow burner “I.S.F.S.”, the band builds in wave after wave of screaming wah’d intensity. A brief change of gear launches the band into the second section, the title track “Dawn in 2 Dimensions”. After hitting on a natural motorik Kraut pulse, the sounds climb infinitely higher into a pummeling cacophony of dark noise. Once the band hits the third phase, “Quantum Leap”, everyone settles into a sleazy Stooges swagger bringing the album to a close with some trashy skronk, burning bright in a far out galaxy.

GENRE : PSYCH/EXPERIMENTAL FILE UNDER: “k” kandodo “H” Heads, The kandodo is the solo project of Simon Price, singer/guitarist of RELEASE DATE : June 12, 2012 The Heads. Along the way, 8. kandodo Simon touches on influences as diverse as Kraftwerk, Neu!, 9. lord hyena, 3am Eno, Morricone, Stooges, Loop, and Spacemen 3. kandodo is for Price an exploration of tones, chords, and textures that evoke a very particular emotional response, a sense of yearning. These instrumental pieces are lyrical and evocative soundtracks with an elongated and elegant song structure. Describing them himself as “fuzzy lullabies”, Simon’s pieces undulate as delicate layers are built and removed, easing the listener along a thread of melodies. This is immersive music meant to be listened to at a loud volume or in the space between headphones. All of the tracks on kandodo were played, recorded, and mixed by Simon over a lengthy period of time on an old second-hand Mac Book at home. Being one of the first solo recordings he’s ever done, the time alone and the lack of other bandmates allowed Simon to indulge in an infinite amount of possibilities. Many revisions were made over time but the tools used were actually quite few : just his guitars (though Simon is a Fender fetishist, a ‘65 Magnatone Typhoon was mainly used on this album), a couple of keyboards, tambourine, drum pedal, and a slowly breaking Walkman recorder (for field recordings). The end result is a remarkable addition to the guitarist’s already impressive body of work.

Brainfeeder presents the album Totem by new signée RYAT, a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer of avant-garde electronic music. A serious oeuvre, Totem blends classical elements and cinematic sounds with big beat influences and experimental time changes. Twisting through the gritty, disheveled beats like an elegant ribbon, RYAT’s gracefully processed vocals merge with electronic surprises to create a work of intense abstract art. Trading the urban jungle of Philadelphia for the concrete badlands of Los Angeles, RYAT’s transformation was juxtapositioned with a new awareness of her natural surroundings and unexpected visits from animals, whose dream partners give the album its name. Every track of Totem represents a different spirit animal, each with a message translated through RYAT’s experimentation with unusual sound signatures. Lead single “Howl” moves from a thatched start right into a swollen groove, with beats collected into random tide pools, full of unforeseen sounds. “Footless” builds tension into a celestial knock with an off-kilter gallop that flies skyward, while the loose drums of jazz-influenced “Object Mob” generate an unexpected emotion of freedom. Giving us just a glimpse of her journey through fire-filled vocals and captivating sonic twists, poetess RYAT lays an emotional path into a dream where animals speak in music and the beats have come alive.

SIDE A

Songs born out of aggression tend to usually make the final cut over here. This song is no exception. I asked Aesop Rock to join me in a spiraling death plunge into rap’s blackened heart and he happily agreed. This song is the aftermath of that club house agreement. Unlike any of the songs on Beaus$Eros this song abandons all good taste and musings on matters of the heart. It’s a fiery fuck you to everyone and the only tone that could have been utilized in my first collaborative effort with Mr. Ian Bavitz. It only exists on this tiny disc, so grab it while they exist. - Busdriver

“Rispah,” the new album from The Invisible, is, in the words of singerguitarist Dave Okumu, ”a love letter to grief.” Mid-way through recording a follow-up to 2009’s Mercury-nominated debut album, Okumu’s mother passed away and the band’s plans and aesthetic were thrown into turmoil. As Okumu remembers it, “I couldn't engage with music for a long period. The moment it returned to me was at my mum's funeral, which lasted several days. One evening, during the wake, my grandmother Zilpa, my mother's mum, arrived at our home accompanied by a group of women singing traditional spirituals. They approached my mother's body and sang over it, dancing around her coffin. It was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. They transformed the atmosphere with sound and the spirit they brought to it. They were celebrating life and death, grief and hope, all things. This act was allowing everyone present to express themselves. It served as the most potent reminder of everything I believe about music. It's there for everybody, it's inclusive and transformative. I'm so glad these voices are stitched through our record." This epiphany forms the spiritual core of 'Rispah' (Okumu's mother's name). It is a record imbued with an inevitable melancholy but defined by a sense of hope. Above all, this is an inclusive record, drawing on personal grief in order to create something universal and emotionally true. Throughout, the band reveal their rich creativity and musicianship. Echoes run through these songs of African music (including beautifully-woven-in samples of the singers from his mother's funeral), psalm tones and devotional music, 'In A Silent Way'-era Miles Davis, hints of minimal classical composers such as Steve Reich and the wilder more psychedelic end of hip hop and related electronic musics. If you wanted, you could look for and find echoes of The Beach Boys or Brian Eno, too, though much of this is due to the originality of their sound, the sense of a group who will not compromise. Nothing is ever included for the sake of it, no attempt is made to patronise or sell the audience short. It's a record brimming with real emotion and restless intelligence, a record to get lost in. Dave Okumu, Tom Herbert (bass & synthesizer) and Leo Taylor (drums) have been working together as The Invisible since 2006, though their musical collaborations stretch back much further and take in a huge variety of projects. When not working on The Invisible, they are involved in everything from co-writing and producing Jessie Ware's album (Okumu), playing as a member of British post-jazz legends Polar Bear (Herbert) or drumming on much of Adele's world-crushing second album 21 (Taylor). They have also played live and recorded with a dizzying roll call of musicians that runs from St Vincent in the Tom Waits tribute 'Rain Dogs Revisited', the Britten Symphonia, Jack De Johnette, Matthew Herbert, Hot Chip, Zongamin, Gramme and many others. The Invisible remains closest to the heart of what the trio are about as musicians, though, as the beauty and emotional intelligence of 'Rispah' clearly demonstrates. THE BABIES - My Name / The War Recorded in the summer of 2009, My Name and The War were two of the first songs ever written and recorded by The Babies. Capturing the band’s raw energy and honest, direct sound, the single also marks the first 7 inch release for fledging UK label, Bad Paintings. Indebted to classic 60s songwriting and garage rock by the likes of The Creation, this single shows The Babies at their most open and organic. Sounding like Nancy and Lee singing on Surfer Rosa, the melodies wouldn’t be out of place on a Shangri Las record. This is the edge of Wild Gift era X - pop without a hint of twee. Having heard the two songs on a bootlegged early live recording, they became the favourites of Bad Paintings. As part of the Wrong Side of the River collective, the label’s founders helped organise a show for The Babies at their DIY event in York, UK. “I had honestly forgotten about The War and My Name until we were playing in York and the crowd requested we play them,” commented Kevin Morby (of The Babies and Woods), “it was such a pleasant blast from the past.” He 7”: BP7001 ($7.99) went on to say, “At some of our very first shows we always opened up with these tunes. They were both recorded in the same sessions as Meet Me In The City and All Things Come To Pass, but for some reason never had any release outside of a tour tape we made in 2010.” “I’m glad that now File Under: Indie / Alternative they have found a home with Bad Paintings 3 years later!” The single features My Name on the A side, a paean to youth and growing up, and The War on the B side, a song about confusion and helplessness. It’s a must for fans of The Babies, as well as related bands Woods and Vivian Girls – as Kevin put it, “although the songs may not be the best representation of the bands current sound, it definitely shows some of our deepest roots.” The Babies are expected to release a second album during 2012, followed by an extensive tour, to include the UK and Europe.

HYPERDUB ALBUMS OUT JUNE 12th 2012

DEAN BLUNT AND INGA COPELAND - Black Is Beautiful After three albums for as many labels, Dean Blunt and Inga Copeland, also of the group Hype Williams, release their debut Hyperdub LP, 'Black Is Beautiful'. Amid rumours circulating, and confirmed by their “advisor” Denna Frances, the album was recorded during a tremulous period for the two : Inga Copeland’s Arsenal girls tryouts, Dean's 'Waschbärgate' trial (he was implicated in being behind a one night robbing spree across 16 taxidermists based in London and the South East, allegedly only for racoons) and his subsequent conversion to Nation of Islam upon being acquitted. 'Black Is Beautiful' is laced with their signature hazy glow and is full of crunched eurovision lullabies, kinetic drum machine jams, unsettling funk, smeared walls of synth, moments of unadulterated opiated bliss, mogadon rap, infinite coughs and insights into the odd sexual behaviour of crackers. DVA - Pretty Ugly DVA is a natural maverick, a one man spaceship, who on 'Pretty Ugly' shows off an uncanny ability to create urban pop and dance that's full of rich musicality and unusual textures and ideas. Like all the most exciting pop and dance music producers through the generations he has a real flair for looking from the outside in and creating his own unique colour filled 3D sound, with a knack of tethering off-key ideas to good songwriting and pop formats. He’s a producer that has come through grime and then uk funky but he’s always pulled the blueprints out of shape, messing with different time signatures and syncopations, unusual speeds and strange synths, upsetting vocalists and creating music that doesn’t easily slot into the format for raves. Hyperdub saw this maverick nature as a blessing, and so he’s gone into the studio and done what he needs to make the music he wants. Track Listing: 1. Reach The Sun, 2. Just Vybe ft Fatima, 3. LAUREL HALO - Quarantine Since 2010’s ‘King Felix’ and into last year’s highly lauded ‘Hour Logic’, Laurel Halo has developed a self contained take on electronic music, collapsing the boundaries between ambient, pop, synthetic psychedelia, dub and the techno music of her Midwest roots. Fixed stylistic territories fold in on themselves, time quickens - her music is meant for transit, body listening and loud soundsystems. ‘Quarantine’, her debut album and first release on Hyperdub, is her most focused and evolved recording yet. This is an album of transporting songs, various altitude shifts via effecting pop-concrete, built on a rich synthesis of intuitive but exacting electronic abstraction, bass pulse and heartfelt songwriting. Like her previous releases, ‘Quarantine’ slams ambient suspension and disorienting detail up against each other. The 12 songs here operate as complex vacuums, airborne harmony and movement met with incidental noise and sub bass pressure, sample details and synth lines as trails across a mutilated sonic topography. Track Listing: 1. Airsick, 2. Years, 3. Thaw, 4. Joy, 5. MK Ultra, 6. Wow, 7. Carcass, 8. Holoday, 9. Tumor, 10. Morcom, 11. Nerve, 12. Light + Space

What began as an afternoon of filming a live performance of Hathaways has become the debut of The Parasol Sessions, a series through Parasol Records that will focus on the spontaneity of live music. Hathaways new record features 10 original folk-pop tracks recorded live at Parasol Records HQ in January of 2012. Led by siblings Kate and James Hathaway, Hathaways stands out from the crowd of indie-pop bands not just for the depth of their songwriting, but also for the unique Andean folk influence on their music, which is evidenced most clearly by Kate's use of a petite ten-string South American instrument called the charango. The pair has repeatedly toured and played at festivals in Peru, always to a warm reception and great acclaim for the way they infuse American pop music with Peruvian soul. Now, back home and recently augmented by an adept backing band, Hathaways' music is also gaining appreciation in the US for precisely the same reason: the group builds upon tradition rather than being bound by it. In so doing, Hathaways has developed a sound of their own. Seamlessly melding the exotic charm of the charango with the band's own refined songcraft and lush male/female harmonies, Hathaways is first and foremost a modern indie-pop band, albeit one with a very unusual and effective twist that makes their sound truly fresh, new, and absolutely one of a kind. 1. RELEasE

Emika's eponymous debut album established an innovative new voice in electronic music. An artist as comfortable as a vocalist and musician as she is a sound designer working in the outer reaches of bass-heavy music. She picked up some big fans along the way too such as Thom Yorke, Amon Tobin, mary-Anne hobbs and publications ranging from FACT and Resident Advisor to The Guardian and The Sunday Times. Whilst we eagerly await for Emika's sophomore album which will no doubt raise the bar yet further with its ambition, Ninja Tune will release the Chemical Fever EP.

CHEMICAL FEVER 12”

Chemical Fever is state of delirium, a loss of awareness of time and the physical. A present moment focus surrounded by a beautiful fire, which has to be clung onto, the only thing that matters. It's a homage to the world that first inspired the recordings of Emika, more akin to her field recoding work for Funf. It evokes the late-night dark, boundary-less venues of berlin such as the Berghain, it captures the common spirituality of a dance floor getting lost in sound. It showcases Emika's music at its most pure, underground and intense. The release comes backed by apt remixes by berlin electronic aficionado Substance and one of the leading lights on the CLR imprint Tommy Four Seven who takes on album track "The Long Goodbye", both keep faithful to the deep and hypnotic vibe. The package is complete with the exclusive track "Save It". Emika worked closely with berlin's famous producer Rashad becker, collaborating on the production & Sound Design of 'Save It' and 'Chemical Fever'.

NOTHING TO FEAR 12” EP

We’re very pleased to let you hear Nothing To Fear, Dobie’s first EP for big Dada. Four tracks deep, all instrumental, it’s a record that draws on house, techno, post-dubstep, African rhythms, funk and, of course, hip hop, to make this one of the strongest, hardest hitting and most varied releases we’ve heard in years. Dobie is a legendary figure in british bass music. From working on the first two Soul II Soul albums, he went on to produce London Posse's all-time classic How's Life in London? before recording a solo LP for Pussyfoot, The Sound of One Hand Clapping. In between he has remixed everyone from bjork, massive Attack, Les Negress Vertes and Tricky to Gangstarr, Wooky and Wiley and recorded for a host of labels including brownswood and bbE. his new album, We Will Not Harm You, will be released on big Dada this autumn.
