LOOK PARK LOOK PARK WORLDWIDE RELEASE DATE (CD AND LP): JULY 22, 2016
Chris Collingwood, the lead singer of Fountains of Wayne, will release his debut album, LOOK PARK, on July 22nd; the loose-limbed psychedelic pop of first track “Aeroplane” premiered on Stereogum today. LOOK PARK is Chris Collingwood’s first album outside of Fountains of Wayne and was recorded in collaboration with legendary producer Mitchell Froom (Elvis Costello, Crowded House, Suzanne Vega). Shot through with earnest emotion and restless energy, LOOK PARK is unlike anything in Collingwood’s already extraordinary canon, a fact affirmed by his decision to dub both the album and overall project as “Look Park,” the name borrowed from a favorite green space in his hometown of Northampton, MA. “I don’t like the expression ‘solo record,’” Collingwood says. “It means you don’t have to pay attention to it, that it’s really just a side project. It’s band music and I thought it should have a band name.” Together Collingwood and Froom concocted a truly distinctive approach for Look Park -- strange and spatial, ribboned with layered keyboards, atmospheric harmonies, plate reverbs, and a whole lot of Mellotron, inspired by a shared love of The Moody Blues. “It became something completely different from anything I’d done before,” Collingwood says. “It’s rock music, but owes more to an era when people still listened to whole albums.” August 2015 saw Collingwood head west for a week of sessions at Froom’s Santa Monica home studio, accompanied by bassist Davey Faragher (Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, Cracker) and drummer Michael Urbano (Smash Mouth, Ron Sexsmith, Todd Rundgren), a smart, crafty rhythm section adept at both subtlety and sparkling, uptempo urgency. “I love singer/songwriters,” Collingwood says, “but I’m very proud this doesn’t sound like a singer/songwriter record. It sounds like a band.”
HIGHLIGHTS: • Look Park is Chris Collingwood’s first album since Fountains of Wayne’s 2011 release, Sky Full of Holes. • Fountains of Wayne has sold over 800K in the U.S. alone. • Produced by Mitchell Froom (Elvis Costello, Crowded House, Suzanne Vega) • Look Park to tour the US in the fall

...You can hear the live instruments coalesce with Floating Points’ slow-grown, analog-driven electronica. “Kuiper” deals in purgative apotheoses—as much of Shepherd’s compositions do—in waves of full-bodied soundscapes. -Earmilk

“Since starting a band to realize the music from my LP, it has sparked a deep interest in the band itself, and so Kuiper (1. Kuiper - 18:23) is the result of playing with Leo, Alex and Susumu. Each time we play it, its completely different. We set the scene with electronics, and some drum machines that form the foundation to allow the unfurling of the rest of the track. The version on this EP – believe it or not – was recorded at 8am! The other side – ‘For Marmish Part II’ (2. For Marmish Part II 14:05) – is carbon dated by my singing voice. I can’t get that high anymore! It was recorded way before ‘ For Marmish’ on the album but the two tracks happened to be written around the same time.” – Sam Shepherd

RELEASE DATE :
O
n the unstoppably kinetic Confirmation Bias, Chicago’s Yeesh rides a wave of momentum from its well-received 2015 debut LP No Problem while honing its brand of eclectic and dynamic noise-pop even further. Pulling from diverse strains of the indie canon to create a sound that is singular and cerebral, yet cohesive and entirely familiar, Confirmation Bias finds the ambitious three-piece catapulting driving post-punk rhythms and math-y structures against a backdrop of fuzzy, feedback-drenched guitars and ear-worm melodies. Yes, Yeesh covers a hell of a lot of ground from Dischord-esque post-hardcore to lo-fi grunge and even ‘90s emo - but it does so naturally, fearlessly and with supreme aplomb. Confirmation Bias is a watershed moment for Yeesh, moving beyond its influences and morphing into a full-on rock behemoth that demands to be heard.

At least a little bit, because it nearly didn’t happen. Playing alongside so many great musicians had made coming up with his own material all the more chal-
“Reno”. It took nearly three years to record the album - on the road on a laptop, in random studios on off days, and at home in Topol’s garage in Venice, CA. Focusing less on rhythmic based songs as in previous projects, Regardless of the Dark aims at narratives and lyrical storytelling about life in the northern Nevada and California mountains. Traveling the world with great songwriters and artists also helped plant the seeds for this batch of songs to come to life. The reading books and listening to music, hearing other people tell their stories over Diaz, Cormac McCarthy and Haruki Murakami’s The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle all provided their own kind of inspiration here. The album opens with the Lee Scratch Perry/Congos inspired groove of “Brazil,” about people living their lives on auto-pilot, a song partially inspired by Vonnegut’s Timequake. “Crystal Bay” is a murderous allegory about the circular nature of life, warning that things we do will always catch up to us. The ramshackle sea shanty of “The Captain” describes the remorseful title character as a man who willingly sinks his own ship but refuses to go down with it without an attempt at forgiveness. Always buoyed by the presence of good friends and collaborators, Topol has

“Hollow,” was recorded in Barcelona with The Pinker Tones, and sparkles with castanets and melodica. Dengue Fever’s David Ralicke lends his horn work to “Lemon Yellow” and “Brazil,” while “Crystal Bay” was recorded in East LA with the help of Ozomatli’s Raul Pacheco. Mason Jennings lends his talents to a number of Topol’s songs including additional vocals, guitar and keyboard work on “The Captain” as well as the album’s closing track, “Reno.” At its base, Regardless of the Dark ruminates on a sense of place, and how leaving your roots behind can help you discover that they were what made you below the surface, on this record Adam Topol has shown he can tell stories and weave melodies alongside the best of his mentors and peers. SELECTED QUOTES:
Pelican's instrumental heaviness was fullformed at birth in 2001 with a monstrous debut that Hydra Head bestowed upon the world. The brutalist forms of metal were long a grounding presence in the songs of Pelican; but in the years leading up to their iconic 2007 album City Of Echoes , the band shed some but certainly not all of the metal tropes that informed their first fruits. An ebullient temperament teases through the guitar work that laces through City Of Echoes from Trevor de Brauw and Laurent SchroederLebec . Pelican's sharp mimesis of the Takoma ellipsis and the dangling participles of mathrock complication paralleled the likes of Explosions In The Sky and Rodan with a gifted knack for lachrymose celebration. Yet time and again, Pelican's reprises the violent crack of metal through the heavy riffage of downtuned posthardcore chug and doublekick blastbeats, making any Pelican song an unpredictable journey. The albums opening cut "Bliss In Concrete" sets the stage with a series of interlocked riffs of crunched guitar and bass, with the stylistic transitions pronounced by the drums of complicated time signatures rapidly changing course only to double up on the snare and kick, only to glide into a poppunk immediacy of the now. Similarly, the titular track skips to a doleful guitar jangle out of the early '90s indierock playbook, then taking a very Pelican leftturn with a mighty crescendo of galloping hardcore that never seems out of place. Assymetrical by design, City Of Echoes erupts through its kinetic compositions deliberately seeking a panoply of emotional content through melody, harmony, dissonance, and noise. No words necessary for these sermons of jubilation tempered with aggression and consternation.
“As a band they’ve refused to take the easy way out or paint themselves into a corner or play to expectations. They've moved forward without losing sight of what makes them unique, and by doing so, they've moved the entire instrumental heavy music genre forward as well. The craft and care put into City of Echoes is a breath of fresh air and puts them back into a musically territorial space all their own. ” AllMusic.com DISTRIBUTION United States Redeye Distribution wendy@redeyeworldwide.com UK/Europe Shellshock Distribution chris@shellshock.co.uk / +44 (0)208 800 8110 Canada FAB Distribution www.fab.ca / 450-465-2389 InternationalHydra Head Records King’s Road Merch

this item is non-returnable No Export “Like the best of Eyehategod or Bastard Noise, All the Waters is the rare album that feels truly dangerous… The record itself is a smartly designed simulacrum for the lyrics, recreating the sense of impending darkness by creating a sound that swallows itself… All the Waters of the Earth Turn to Blood is the seldom collapse-of-the-world record that’s actually as disturbing as it wants to be.” - Pitchfork “As the record continues, the beating just doesn’t stop. The choral voices, returning here and there, are the only ray of hope: the Body’s own singing amounts to weedy, apocalyptic howls, barely clearing the din of their processional stomps. It’s an experience, this record, written in big riffs and celestial choirs and digital static.” - The New York Times For 10 years the rumors have slowly spread from the Mid-South through the New England region of the United States of a group, known as THE BODY, declaring war on all they consider "FALSE" through rituals involving solid state amplification and jolting percussion. Their latest addition to the arsenal against the contrived is All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To Blood. The duo has allied itself with the Assembly of Light Choir and members of bands as varied as Bonedust, Callers, Dead Times, Fang Island, Human Beast, Lichens, Made In Mexico, Otesanek, Trtrkmmr, What Cheer Brigade, & Work/Death on their latest. The opener sets the mood for the album. The beautiful and haunting sounds of the Assembly of Light choir kick off for almost seven minutes then breaks into the full force low end ugliness all the while the choir continues to harmonize along with it (a repeating theme on the album). Soundscapes (post-rock, noise drenched, percussive based, loops) form with baritone saxophone, sousaphone, guitar, piano, keyboards, moog, and more, mixed with THE BODY's typical stripped down live arsenal of drums, guitars, and vocals. A post-rock interlude leads to pounding distortion and inhuman wails. Songs drop in and out going from quieter moments of drum machine fueled rhythms with looped audio tracks to full out pissed off dirge. Finally closing the album is the 14-minute "Lathspell I Name You." Slow heavy builds lead to distorted chaos. Distorted chaos drops back to heavy builds. All of it drops out and leads to multi percussive blows with hints of noise always on top leading to Dubin-style screams with haunting harmonies and crashing cymbals. The story is about to end and it isn't going to be pretty. POINTS 1) Recorded at Machines With Magnets (Battles, Daughters, Lightning Bolt, Chinese Stars etc....) 2) Press by Earsplit PR ( Eyehategod, Neurosis, Sunn O))) etc...) 3) All The Waters… appeared on hundreds of 2010 favorite lists worldwide, including Decibel, Brooklyn Vegan, About.com, Stereogum, NME, The Quietus and countless more, and even bagging a #4 spot on NPR’s top 10 metal/drone albums of the year as well as a #6 spot on Pitchfork’s Reader’s Choice top 10 metal albums in their year-end reader’s poll!

THE FLESHTONES THE BAND DRINKS FOR FREE (45) RELEASE DATE (45RPM): 7/22/16
‘The Band Drinks For Free’ is the A-Side of this 45 as well as the title of The Fleshtones forthcoming full length album, due out later this year. The band is celebrating their 40th anniversary of rocking harder than anyone in the world in 2016! The first thing that popped into frontman Peter Zaremba’s head when thinking back on these past 40 years was, ‘The Band Drinks For Free’. Simple. The song itself taps into one of their big inspirations, the Kinks, or more like The Troggs sounding like The Kinks. ‘Love My Lover’ is straight up Fleshtones Keith Streng-style at its rocking best. No frills. Although Streng did want some subtle touches like a duel guitar and harmonica lead, and some interesting twists to the lyrics: there aren’t many songwriters who long for a ‘transporter’ to get immediate access to their lover’s room, or refer to their own ‘blue eyes’ in a song, is there? Bill Milhizer and Ken Fox add their solid, irresistible beat.
“The Fleshtones rocked the house” - Billboard (from Record Store Day 2016 performance) “These veteran garage-rockers haven’t lost their knack for creating catchy and infectious tunes” - PopMatters HIGHLIGHTS: • A-Side track, “The Band Drinks For Free” is exclusive to this release. •S OLD THROUGH all copies of their “End Of My Neighborhood” 45 exclusive Record Store Day 2016 release • 2016 marks the band’s 40th anniversary! • Worldwide tour dates throughout 2016 TRACKLISTING: SIDE A: The Band Drinks For Free SIDE B: Love My Lover

Soul Jazz Records Presents
NIGERIA FREEDOM SOUNDS! Calypso, Highlife, Juju & Apala: Popular Music And The Birth Of Independent Nigeria 1960-63 22nd July 2016 No shipments outside of North America
Soul Jazz Records’ new Nigeria Freedom Sounds! features a stunning selection of material spotlighting the vibrant musical scene in Nigeria at the start of the 1960s. With a wealth of musical and cultural history and newly independent from Britain, Nigerian music during this era was complex, diverse and forward-thinking, with musicians as excited in exploring their country’s own musical lineage with styles such as Juju and Apala as they were in adapting and absorbing outside influences such as Ghanaian Highlife, Caribbean Calypsos and Mambo and more. This album features many of the defining artists of this time who helped shape the Nigerian musical scene. Artists include I.K. Dairo and his Blue Spots, Haruna Ishola and his Group, E.C. Arinze, Sammy Akpabot and His All Stars, Godwin Omobuwa and his Soundmakers, Ganiyu Kale and His Guinea Mambo Orchestra and many more. Few nations on earth are as diverse as Nigeria, and the wide assortment of Nigerian music styles collected on this album reflect the country’s rich variety of cultures. Western-influenced dance music, played on European instruments such as guitar, brass, and woodwind sits alongside traditional musical styles, made with indigenous instruments such as the talking drum, marimba, or obo. And there is also religious musical styles first brought to Nigeria by European Christians and Islamic traders from North Africa. And of course, there are points where these musical styles overlap, merging into one another to create unique new sounds. This album is released in two formats, as CD and as heavyweight gatefold double vinyl edition. The CD includes a large outsize 48-page book containing extensive sleevenotes, original photography, artist biographies, as well as selection of Nigerian adverts celebrating its independence and original artwork from some of the rare original Nigerian 45s on which this music was first (and only ever) released. The heavyweight gatefold 2xLP comes with full sleevenotes and download code.

Channelled madness – the sound Dawn of Midi spent years shaping is culminating into their most mesmerising work yet. With Dysnomia, the Brooklyn-based group Dawn of Midi abandons improvisation in favour of composition, utilising sophisticated rhythmic structures from North and West African folk traditions to weave a sonic tapestry of trance-inducing grooves. From close up one may see only dots, but when stepping back an undulating image reveals itself. “We didn’t want to create anything cerebral,” says Belyamani, “we wanted something visceral, something that would awaken our instinctive dance impulses.” Having met at California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles in 2006, bassist Aakaash Israni, pianist Amino Belyamani and drummer Qasim Naqvi found their original rapport through late night tennis matches on the campus court. The chemistry they founded there eventually led them back indoors to improvise together; something they did in total darkness to deprive themselves of all their senses except the crucial one – their hearing. The manner, by which a trio of solely acoustic instruments ends up sounding like electronic music, has to do with the unconventional ways the group play their instruments on Dysnomia. The record comes to life in the trio’s critically acclaimed live shows, a test of endurance and trust that involves performing their hand-looped acoustic minimalism note for note, just as the compositions were recorded. Dawn of Midi’s sets are as energetic and rhythmic as a seamlessly mixed DJ-set, mesmerising fans in the same way the group’s favourite experimental and electronic acts have for decades. The album was recorded to 2-inch tape at Waterfront Studios in Hudson, New York - a former church that was purchased and transformed into an analogue recording playground by the great engineer Henry Hirsch. Once the band visited the studio and met Henry, an expert in analogue recording equipped with a vintage Helios console, 16 and 24track tape machines and a superb collection of microphones, it was obvious they had to record there; it was miles ahead of anywhere else they had visited. Rusty Santos then mixed the album to make sure it would hit as hard as the group’s favourite electronic albums do in spite of it being entirely acoustic. “We wanted to make a record that sounded both musically futuristic and sonically vintage,” explains Israni, “and since the album never saw a proper international release, it is very exciting to see what might happen when more people are exposed to it. And to be aligned with Erased Tapes, whose enthusiasm for the music they release has done a lot for exposing unique instrumental and electronic music, makes it that much more interesting.” Swiss artist Fabian Oefner created the cover image by placing paint on a spinning drill bit and firing it at a canvas, then capturing it with highspeed photography. Formed in 2007, the band name was happened upon after Naqvi casually uttered the phrase by chance as a non sequitur for the improvised music the trio was making at the time, they had no idea that years later they would make an album like Dysnomia that would make their name appear fateful. Having supported Nils Frahm on his sold-out North American tour in 2014, Dawn of Midi will be joining their fellow label artist throughout Europe from April 25–May 25 including two nights at the Roundhouse in London. North American Press: “Stellar… at a loss for words” – Spin “Something totally unprecedented” – Pitchfork “Perverse in a good way” – The New York Times “Brain-bending, seemingly impossible” – Rolling Stone “Moving and addictive...a feat of innovation” – Interview Magazine “A mysterious, vital sound with a pull all its own” – L.A. Our principle is that each people have to create its own struggle. Naturally, we have something to learn from the experience that can be adapted to the real situation of the country. But we bettered our struggle in the culture of our people, in the realities of our country, historical, economical, cultural, etc, and we developed the struggle, supported by our people which is the first and main condition: the support of the people.” Amílcar Cabral, interview to Cameron Duodu/Radio-Ghana at Accra, 1973

Londoner Endgame is a new addition to the Hyperdub roster after releases on Lisbon’s Golden Mist Records, and NYC-based Purple Tapes Pedigree. Endgame hosts an excellent monthly show ‘Precious Metals’ on NTS and produces and DJs as part of the Bala Club crew, and he already has mixes and features with the likes of the Fader, Fact, Dazed and Confused and ID under his belt in the short time he’s been releasing music. In his ice-cold productions, Drill, Grime and most notably South American dance riddims are threaded and mutated into tracks that he describes as an ever-evolving vision of the dystopian underbelly of London. ‘Felony Riddim’ is an icy introduction to the EP, an explosive club jam with a menacing and stabbing chime melody leading up to a pounding kick drum. It’s all out war, but you can definitely roll your hips to it. ‘Sittin’ Here Redux’ recasts Dizzie Rascal’s ‘Boy In Da Corner’ opener into a tense anthem, with police sirens wailing in the background, dogs barking, and rolling 808 snares that bring a vibe somewhere between reggaeton and drill. Next up is ‘Fallen’ featuring the MC Organ Tapes - a slow burner that works both as a moody headphone track or a club slow jam. Organ Tapes’ slurred autotuned vocals flow perfectly with Endgame’s blend of grime drums and chiming rap production. The EP finishes as it began, going out with the explosive and high-energy ‘Toxic Riddim’. It’s a mix of reggaeton and futurist dancehall, with a menacing melody and relentless electric shock-like hi hats across a deep sub. Endgame takes you all around the world - but the ice-cold tone unmistakably brings you right back to winding in a dark club in London's culture clash.

Inkke’s debut EP 'Secret Palace' for LuckyMe is a hard and brash instrumental club record that embodies the DIY spirit of the young producer recognised for his grime and low slung, Memphis rap references and anthemic sound. Coming from the same Glasgow club scene that birthed Hudson Mohawke, Rustie and S-Type, Inkke’s (aka Russell Patterson) recent collaboration with Novelist “Mmm Yeah” alongside vocal throw downs from Skepta, D-Double E and Rapid on the EP’s “Simmer” has cemented his beats as future grime rhythms. With ‘Secret Palace’ however, Inkke has delivered his most developed release to date, opening with the Hans Zimmer-esque “New Day Theme”, followed by the heavyweight dance floor tracks and clinical club anthems “Chores and “Tales from the Quick” and “Sorry”. Inkke made his name by servicing prolific bundles of music direct to DJs whilst also running his acclaimed FWDK night at Glasgow School of Art and his past releases include “Crystal Children” EP on Local Action, “Faded With The Kittens” beat tape on Astral Black and tracks on the Mumdance & Logos “Weightless” compilation alongside Big Dada’s “Grime 2.0”. ‘Secret Palace’ has support so far from Lunice, Rustie, Diplo, Plastician, Nina Las Vegas, Éclair Fifi, Baauer, Benji B, Mista Jam, Slackk and Mumdance. SELLING POINTS: 1. Debut vinyl EP on LuckyMe 2. Glasgow homegrown local club scene hero following Hudson Mohawke, Rustie and S-Type 3. GENRE : ROCK/PSYCH FILE UNDER: “R” Rhyton, “S” Speer, D. Charles & the Helix
“N” No Neck Blues Band
RELEASE DATE : July 22, 2016 Brooklyn’s Rhyton (Dave Shuford, Jimy SeiTang, and Rob Smith) are leading experimentalists and improvisers who draw inspiration from unexpected sources. The trio honed their skills in projects like No-Neck Blues Band (Shuford), Pigeons (Smith), and Stygian Stride (SeiTang), and all three have played a significant role in shaping a nationally impactful and enigmatic improvisation movement from New York. Rhyton is a trio devoted to exploration built on a foundation drawn from country, blues, folk and psychedelic sources. The aptly named Redshift (an astronomical term for the displacement of spectral lines toward longer wavelengths often used to measure the otherwise immeasurable) finds Rhyton expanding its sound and defying expectations by creating a galactic country throw-down. The title track, featuring Shuford’s rich vocals and singular lyrics, juxtaposes earthy, country rock against synthetic “alien” sounds. From the complex dissonance of “D.D. Damage” to the Greek-inflected groove of “The Nine,” Rhyton’s music challenges and delights. Shuford plays Greek folk instruments and explores new tunings and other ways of wrangling sounds from his guitar. At one point, he twists the guitar strings and plays it as one would play a snare. Smith studied with Bernard Lee “Pretty” Purdie, known for drumming with Steely Dan and Aretha Franklin, and the results are clear in Redshift’s driving and dirty grooves. Seitang’s chops are on full display as he connects the disparate dots seamlessly. On Joe Walsh’s “Turn To Stone,” it is easy to forget that Rhyton is a mere trio. Together, Rhyton takes Walsh’s guitar lines and dissect them at times, searing until they leap off into an extended improvisation that can only be described as otherworldly (psst … no, that is not a bagpipe, that is Shuford’s guitar fed into a nutso fuzz pedal through a Leslie speaker!).

First 200 LPs pressed on limited clear vinyl Redshift was recorded at Black Dirt Studios (Steve Gunn, Purling Hiss, Michael Chapman, The Black Twig Pickers, Jack Rose) in upstate New York with their long-time engineer Jason Meagher “a full-bodied fusion of ancient Mediterranean and Middleeastern scales and melodies with contemporary jam band and psychedelic rock elements. It’s of the future and of the past, but more than anything there is a rare unconscious intuition between the trio, whose music is primarily born of improvisation” - Impose “a trippy, solo-fest of kaleidoscopic Greek and Easternspiced sonic trance-rock marathons where Shuford and co. melts brains with grooviness galore” - Noisey “...smoke-belching psychedelia, like Eternal Tapestry getting spanked by Blue Oyster Cult, only more throbbing and fried.” – Magnet

Music Inspired by Philippe Garrel’s Le Révélateur Thrill - 420 LP List $18.99 BOX LOT LP 25 Vinyl is non-returnable
*9037H-AECABg
GENRE : EXPERIMENTAL/SOUNDTRACK FILE UNDER: “L” Lattimore, Mary “Z” Zeigler, Jeff RELEASE DATE : July 22, 2016 Harpist Mary Lattimore and guitar/synthesizer player Jeff Zeigler premiered their score for the 1968 French film Le Révélateur at the renowned Ballroom Marfa’s annual silent film program in 2013. Although created as an intentionally silent work, director Philippe Garrel endorsed showing the film with every subsequent performance of the score. Lattimore and Zeigler’s score powerfully conveys isolation, despair and awakening, amplifying sentiments portrayed in the film. Le révélateur, meaning the processor of images, in the film is the small boy who is given voice through the rhythmic and inventive harp performance and through emotive melodica lines, eerie synth and guitar. Together, the duo creates a soundscape that perfectly matches the film’s progression as it follows the boy’s journey from a family’s dysfunctional home life into a godless post-apocalyptic landscape. Lattimore and Zeigler’s music becomes tense and rigid during scenes of desolation, switching only briefly to a soaring major key during a moment of hope. The two act as musical révélateurs, reflecting the protagonist’s own wordless process. The resulting soundtrack is a journey through fear, joy and solitude, mirroring the boy’s willful act of distancing himself from his parents into autonomy and independence, armed literally and metaphorically against the oppressive and implacable forces of human nature. Since the score’s debut in Marfa, the duo has performed to soldout audiences at the Getty Museum and Cinefamily in Los Angeles, Constellation Chicago, and at the International House in the duo’s hometown of Philadelphia. Le Révélateur was recorded by Zeigler (War on Drugs, Kurt Vile) at his studio, Uniform Recording. Zeigler also performs synth and guitar works solo as Valley Exit. Lattimore, a classically trained harpist, has appeared on stage or on recordings with Steve Gunn, Meg Baird, Kurt Vile, Thurston Moore, and Wrekmeister Harmonies, among others. She received a prestigious Pew Fellowship in the Arts in 2014. The duo’s first record together, Slant of Light, was released in 2014. Lattimore and Zeigler are working on a new studio album for release in 2017 and will be performing their music inspired by Le Révélateur at additional screenings throughout the US and Europe.

About:
We tend to love the musician who starts their career strong, even if it means they flame out early. Romantic? Maybe. But if you’re a songwriter, you probably aspire to be more like The Big Bend’s Chet Vincent: Each album stronger, cleaner, more thoughtful, more polished. Chet Vincent has been kicking around Pittsburgh bars and clubs, playing in bands since he was a teenager. A regular fixture both at small open mics and at rock venues with The Big Bend, Vincent has quietly established a reputation as one of the city’s most dedicated figures. The payoff: Celebrate, The Big Bend’s fourth release, has the hallmarks of a career milestone, calling to mind early-‘70s Neil Young in its songwriting, with sonic elements straight out of Abbey Road-era Beatles. The Big Bend has been a work in progress: The band’s first albums had a definite country accent. Then, in 2015, the five-piece produced Unconventional Dog, a certified rocker. That full-length got the band attention from local radio, from Triple-A station WYEP to commercial rock entities WDVE and WXDX. Celebrate gives the band plenty of reasons to pop a few bottles (besides Vincent’s recent nuptials to beloved Pittsburgh country artist Molly Alphabet, with whom he also collaborates musically). The album shows the band’s range -- from the first discordant, psychedelic notes of album opener “The Spins” through the closing bars of the stripped-down, folky “Su La Ley.” In between, the band hits overdriven blues rockers and twangy honky-tonk tunes. Vincent’s vocals show range stylistically, from shouts on the more raucous tunes, to lilting crooning reminiscent of The Weakerthans’ John K. Samson on the softer songs. He’s backed by precision in the form of the rest of The Big Bend. Abe Anderson on thundering drums is joined in the rhythm section by bassist Madison Stubblefield. Andy Voltz provides keyboard work that helps steer the feel of the record, from honky tonk piano to a mellotron sound straight out of Strawberry Fields. Dan Dickison provides lead-guitar counterparts to Vincent’s rhythm. The production -- the band recorded and engineered itself -- is nothing short of spectacular. Vincent says the idea this time around was to not hold back: “I feel like the songs where we took more production risks on the last record tended to be people's favorites, so we took that as a license to go a bit farther this time.” Lyrically, too, Vincent continues to grow and find his voice. He’s always been a storyteller, weaving characters and situations into songs, but here he takes on social issues, both obliquely and directly, on songs like “Cut Us Down” and "Fingertrap." He also challenged himself on the new material. “I admire how ‘60s and ‘70s bands could pack so much into a three-minute song making it feel longer than it really is,” he says. “I tend over-write lyrics, so focusing on arrangements and economy of words has been a fun challenge for me.” Far from flaming out, Chet Vincent and The Big Bend have spent years building up steam for this moment. Vincent is one of those figures who serve to show us that working hard and honing your voice really do pay off. Pittsburgh is already in on the secret of The Big Bend; the rest of the world is on the verge of finding out.

Éclair Fifi Mickey Oliver & Shanna Jae
Never Let Go LuckyMe are proud to announce Eclair Fifi’s debut record - ‘Never Let Go’ by Mickey Oliver & Shanna Jae. The first in a series of Chicago House and Latin Freestyle Drumapella, Percapella & Synthapella reissues & remixes. “I’ve had this record for years – my parents were into Chicago House and it’s been with me forever. Shanna Jae is better known as Paris Grey from Inner City… Goes without saying ‘Good Life’ is one of my favourite childhood records but a few years ago I was caught playing ‘Never Let Go Drumapella’ out at New Years Eve in London and it always changes the energy in a club. I’m a sucker for percapellas and have played them in as pivot tracks in sets since I started DJing; high energy drums, wet vocals and the space to take the set into different directions – ‘Never Let Go’ is a moment whenever it’s played. When I first approached Mickey Oliver it was through the comments section on his old website that kept crashing. I had to find his email via the site’s code. We were sent a master to work with, recently digitised from the original 1987 tape. Then I had the record remixed by a load of friends I’ve met touring, all picked for their drums. Aden’s is jacking, Strip Steve for his percussive 808 house sound and Airmax97 for a contemporary club edit.

I wanted to compile a series of records and remixes that I have a long connection with since my first days DJing on Interface Radio in the early 00s, long before LuckyMe. To bring it together I tracked down phone and fax numbers, label studio addresses that had been turned into auto trade garages in Miami... It’s been a long time coming to put this series together. I’ve hand-made cover illustrations for all of the vocalists. It’s not just a ‘project’ to me – I can boldly say this is my favourite music and it’s about celebrating true dance music.” – Eclair Fifi. London. 2016 Mickey Oliver is the pioneering Chicago House producer, DJ and founding member of the Hot Mix 5 from Chicago’s 102.7 WBMX. Shanna Jae is the preeminent vocalist renowned for both her solo record produced by Mickey Oliver and as one half (as Paris Grey) of Inner City with Kevin Saunderson.

The announce of Eclair Fifi’s debut series of 12” Eps comes fresh from her headline radio show on NTS that launched in January 2016. The Scottish artist and illustrator started DJing on pirate radio at Interface FM in London at 16-years-old, and has since gone to to host her own In New DJs we Trust residency on Radio 1, the LuckyMe show on Rinse FM and of course there’s her iconoclastic RA mix that closed out 2015. If you joined her European headline tour with Nina Las Vegas, or fell in love at any of the Eclair Fifi & Pals parties in Paris, or lost your mind at MoMA PS1 in New York or at Ed Banger’s 20 Years of Party in London, you already know her peerless vibe and consummate knowledge of Latin Freestyle, Italo, techno, hip hop and RnB. When not DJing Eclair Fifi is the designer and illustrator behind covers and videos for Baauer, Ryan Hemsworth, Machinedrum and many more.

Holding the Sky YDUN Goodbye Ta Nasza Mlodosc Country House Waits Madmen & Dogs The slapping of tongues and trilling of flutes! Can it be? Faun Fables are back among us...Born of the Sun. Since 1998, Faun Fables has been the musical world of Dawn McCarthy, visited in collaboration with her partner Nils Frykdhal. In early times, their wild spirit roamed the streets and hills of the SF/ Oakland community while, pilgrim-like, wandering the world, and issuing two albums of deeply-rooted, swirlingly OTHER folk music in 1999 and 2001. With the release of Family Album in 2004, Drag City got involved, and The Transit Rider (2006) “A Table Forgotten” (2008), and Light of a Vaster Dark (2010) followed. All the while, the palette of Faun Fables grew plentifully in a rich and colorful succession of songs and sounds and visions. Now, suddenly, it’s 2016. Six years have passed since Light of a Vaster Dark appeared — six years of dramatic, and yet everyday changes. Life has happened, in the form of three daughters born to Dawn and Nils over the last decade. Anyone who has spent time in the thrall of Faun Fables’ bewitching sound knows that this was the dream; beyond Dawn’s passion for song, dance, theatre and all manner of folklore (plus a regular regimen of yodeling), the mythic shadows of home and hearth, friends and family, have infused all
Born of the Sun Wild Kids Rant Outing In the Country O My Stars Invitation Mountain
of their expressions. Now, raising the family that was once only dreamed about makes for an earthier and more expansive Faun Fables album, informed by the slow and sudden progress of time that occurs when we are with the very young. Born of the Sun is in itself another birthing, the songs gestating over several years, then recorded mostly in concentrated periods over the past two winters. On previous albums, the passions of Faun Fables seemed to be laid firmly on the stones of the Old World. The minstrels who cavorted across the cover of Mother Twilight seemed out of another, hard-to-place time — if not
the early 70s, then perhaps the early 1700s? Dawn’s songs welled forth from an elementary fundament; a life lived in knowing intuition with nature, gathered in blood-based tribes, working in the light of day and playing music by the fire at night, against the cimmerian terror of myths and tales lurking in the darkness. Born of the Sun continues on in this exalted tradition, but also reflects the rhythms of family living, where each day is a new and irreversible step forward through the necessarily scorched earth of raising children. Where Family Album and “A Table Forgotten” looked yearningly through time at the spiritual natures of communal living, Born of the Sun is forged in the crucible of NOW, and as such has a feeling apart from the previous days of Faun Fables. Riding along with Mother Nature, Dawn and Nils and the kids (whose vocals on “Wild Kids Rant” suggest they are following their parents’ path into the forest) are embracing the phenomena of creation as they move inexorably forward. Born of the Sun is the bountiful and exuberant album of this place and time — an old, candlelit world of arcane beliefs in our brightly-lit 4G world, growing ever more profound in the light of perpetual discovery that bathes all of Faun Fables’ songs.

SPACE DIMENSION CONTROLLER “ORANGE MELAMINE” Street Date: 6/10/2016 ZEN231 | ZENCD231
In early 2008, age 18, Space Dimension Controller (R&S, Clone Royal Oak) made his first album in his bedroom in Belfast, now set for a release this June. Crunchy, tattered and enjoyably odd - “Orange Melamine” is a lovingly produced and deeply personal album that laces supernatural sounds and translucent synths with a sense of overflowing harmony. Washed in reverb and draped in hiss, the album draws influence from the old VHS tapes handed down from his older brother and cousins, as well as artists like Boards of Canada, Brian Eno and William Basinski.
TRACKLISTING
The recording process involved Space Dimension Controller (real name Jack Hamill) using a batch of unopened pyral cassette tapes from the 70’s, some of which were so old they had degraded. On “Orange Melamine” Hamill skillfully displays his early ability to make electronic tracks there are intricate and futuristic but also imbued with personality. Original without being difficult, enjoyable while being distinctive; that ‘Orange Melamine’ triumphs without compromise is testament to a distinctively creative artist.

JAMESZOO “FOOL”
Street Date: CD 7/22/2016 BF059 Brainfeeder will release the debut album - Fool - from Dutchman Jameszoo on 13th May 2016 on CD and Digital formats. The LP format will follow. Described by the producer as "naive computer jazz", despite features from two bona fide legends - namely legendary jazz pianist and bandleader Steve Kuhn and Brazilian composer and arranger Arthur Verocai it's a record that fits perfectly into the label’s expanding take on the modern evolution of jazz music, following outings by Kneebody & Daedelus, Thundercat and Kamasi Washington.
TRACKLISTING
Across its 11 tracks, Fool plays out Van Dinther’s journey to find a musical voice he can be proud of and which can also inspire others. Alongside Verocai, Dafé, and Kuhn, the album features a stellar cast of classical and jazz musicians including pianist Niels Broos, drummers Julian Sartorius and Richard Spaven, bass guitarists Raphael Vanoli and Stephen Bruner (aka Thundercat), and saxophonist John Dikeman. All of these different contributions and approaches are weaved together into a whole by Van Dinther, armed with electronics and naivety. At times coherent, at times seemingly haphazard, the album is always joyful. “I tried to create something that is both tradition and me fooling around,” he explains. “There is something to be said for both sides of the spectrum. If we always remain in tradition there will be no evolution.”

"The Reverses" is mind-crushing: artistically uncompromising, bone-shatteringly intense and devilishly heavy - a contorted monument to sinister devastation. The atmosphere distilled on this suffocating record is ignominious and truly eschatological. Layered malicious sounds lurk beneath a frenetic flow of creepy riffing; the perpetual echoes of nebulous voices are enmeshed within walls of guitar noise atop imposing drums furiously hammering home a destructive rhythmic march. As if that were not frightening enough, guesting leading names of the extreme scene - Jonas A Holmberg (THIS GIFT IS A CURSE), Alex Stjernfeldt (THE MOTH GATHERER) MkM (ANTAEUS, AOSOTH) and Vindsval (BLUT AUS NORD) provide a ghastly final touch. "The Reverses" is excessive, fascinating, burning and just...purely extreme! After "The Tunnels" (2011) and "The Purging" (2013) - two incredible, unreal albums internationally acclaimed for their amazingly strange singularity - TERRA TENEBROSA have pushed the boundaries of their thrilling approach to offer up a masterpiece, their finest work to date. "The Reverses" is a gloriously obscure compendium of chaotic styles, dark soundscapes and frantic elements, raised aloft to the Apocalypse. The definitive soundtrack to a dying world. Recommended if you like: BLUT AUS NORD, DEATHSPELL OMEGA…
POINTS OF INTEREST:
> Haunting visuals (like always with TERRA TENEBROSA) > Great guest appearances (Jonas A Holmberg/THIS GIFT IS A CURSE, Vindsval/BLUT AUS NORD…) > The sound TERRA TENEBROSA have crafted is definitely unique! (Musical Warfare) > TERRA TENEBROSA relish in their own secrecy and sound of mystique, the band laughs maniacally in the face of convention (Metalstorm) > TERRA TENEBROSA are extremely unique and combine the sounds of many genres of Metal as well as classical, ambient sounds and avant-garde (Metalgigs) > They provide a wondrous array of captivating musical compositions bearing greater relation to classical music and motion rather than derivative rock based music (The Sleeping Shaman)

Toska ARTIST : Toska Title: TITLE : Toska Toska

Overview Hailing from the truly cold climes of Iceland, the unnamed members of Toska strafe ears immediately with an unrelenting, savage interpretation of influences ranging wildly from early Dodheimsgard to Funeral Mist to Windir – all vocal chaos, percussive insanity, and melodic sensibility in overflowing measure. The black metal of Toska is fueled by “an inexplicable force that one can also find in the dark majesty of Mother North”, where in response to that force, these musicians “transmit the whispers of spirits dwelling in the night skies.” And while Northern nature remains the muse for the sonics, lyrically, Toska take inspiration from Tadeusz Micinski, a Polish poet known for his apocalyptic vision and mystical awareness. Track Listing: 1. From the Starless Night 2. Night I - Algid Gales 3. Night II - Throbbing Tumulus 4. Night III - Iced Spectres 5. Spirits of the Winter Moon 6. Night IV - The Howling Descent 7. Night V - Blizzard Tales What the critics are saying: “Just realize that despite all I've said about how hard this album hits, it's an incredibly melodic beast as well. The guitar lines on "Night I - Algid Gales" absolutely soar in similar ways to the work of Panopticon or Au-Dessus. And at only roughly 25 minutes, I guarantee you'll be wanting more by the time Toska is through. This was another one that took me straight into playthrough #2. You might as well click that repeat button right now.” -Metaltrenches.com “Toska hail from Iceland, a hotbed of killer raw black metal these days, but Toska are doing something different. Instead of the fire that you hear in bands like Svartidauði, Misþyrming, and Naðra, Toska channel something else, something cold and a bit more proggy, playful and pensive all at once. Listen.” -Stereogum “The X-axis of the Bindrune/Eiwhaz sound runs from folk influences to atmospherics. Toska exists on that line, but further toward the aggressive side than I normally expect. Atmosphere usually comes at the expense of interesting eprcussion, but Toska don’t make that trade. I listen to Toska’s self-titled EP and I want to mosh. Sure, there’s some Summoning-ish keyboard parts in these songs, but also scorching clean leads and a series of furious drum performances. Who says delicacy and vitriol can’t go hand in hand?” -Invisible Oranges

Overview Krigsgrav is one of those bands that have reflected on their past works and never were satisfied or content with where they have been, rather strengthening their musical growth and evolution by striving for the future. The Carrion Fields was a very eye opening album for the folks at Bindrune Recordings, for it demonstrated Krigsgrav's desire to be more than just another black metal band. By tirelessly honing their sound and style, their music has reached an expansive apex on Waves of Degradation. With dense atmosphere and a gift for creating songs that resonate with power and passion, Krigsgrav have sculpted 5 vibrant tracks of moving black metal that struggles with the downfall of this planet. Recording Personell: All songs by Sikora, Radvansky, Smith and Coleman, except the Failures of Man by Sikora, Radvansky and Coleman. All lyrics by J. Coleman except Under Trembling Stars by D. Sikora Guest vocals on track 1 by The Watcher (Fen). Guest choir vocals on track 5 by Katrin Powell. Violins on tracks 2, 4, and 5 performed by Jt Longoria Mouth Harp on tracks 1 and 5 performed by David Sikora Track Listing: 1. Under Trembling Stars 2. Son of the Stones 3. The Failures of Man 4. To Rest Beneath the Waters 5. As Color Fades from the Earth What the critics are saying: “While the album includes passages of stirring passion and haunting beauty (as well as some fluid instrumental interludes that get close to prog-metal territory), there is an overarching air of isolation and melancholy in the album’s panoramic atmospherics. As you listen to this largely mid-paced music, it’s not hard to imagine weary souls crossing the plains, hiking through rain-drenched primordial forests, or crossing ice-bound mountain passes. The music is both earthy and mystical, storming and plaintive.” -No Clean Singing The songs describe harrowing tales of misery and hopelessness, set against a backdrop of just enough light and possibility so as to make the dark atmospheres all the worse. The mixture of lighter sections and heavier, blackened distortion work well and the build/release Post-Metal mechanic is used effectively in a Post-Black Metal environment. Waves of Degradation is an impressive listen and has more than enough content to compel you to visit it again and again. Recommended.
Points of interest: - Guest vocals on Under Trembling Stars performed by The Watcher (Fen) - Stunning cover artwork by Nate Burns - Excellent production to highlight meloncholy and melody contained in Krigsgrav’s bleak outlook and sound - Folk and Post Black Metal influences empower this album - LP coming 2016 from Bindrune Bindrune Recordings PO Box 5147 Traverse City, MI 49696 http://bindrunerecordings.com

BLUT AUS NORD / AEVANGELIST – Codex Obscura Nomina "Codex Obscura Nomina" is the most anticipated split album between two of the best avant-garde extreme metal bands of our time, the iconic creators of hallucinogenic sounds, BLUT AUS NORD, and the nightmarish phenomenon ÆVANGELIST. As is their wont, BLUT AUS NORD follows up 2014’s classicist Memoria Vetusta III – a truly iconic album of epic, beauteous and atmospheric Black Metal – with a dichotomous trip further into unfathomable realms of the Black Metal avant-garde. This is yet another new way which drag the listener through chemical excess into the despondency of modern age self-realization.

In a seamless transition from fevered mind into fever dream, AEVANGELIST produce possibly the strongest single track of their rapidly burgeoning oeuvre, 20 minutes of sepulchrally intimidating, haunted and horrendous experimental black metal. A declaration of strength within the bloody trails of psychological disconnect. "Codex Obscura Nomina" or the dangerous meeting of two entities working towards the same horrific ends... THE HIGHEST ORDER STILL HOLDING The Highest Order are Simone Schmidt, Paul Mortimer, Kyle Porter and Simone TB, veterans and ambassadors of Toronto’s downtown underground and collaborators with kindred souls Jennifer Castle, Slim Twig, US Girls and Milk Lines. Three years after the release of their critically acclaimed and well travelled debut album If It’s Real the band return with Still Holding. If their debut was a work of cosmic country then the band have doubled down on the cosmic. Highlighting the band’s growing mastery of the recording studio, smashed tape collages, phase shifted psychedelic guitar duels and varisped everything surround Still Holding’s mastery of song. It’s the songs that stay with you, fully realized as though they have always existed, vessels for Schmidt’s words. Deep truths. Athletic metaphors. The Highest Order are Still Holding and they saved some for you.

DENNIS GRUENLING Ready Or Not
“Dennis Gruenling goes uptown and gets lowdown with unerring musical instinct. For the first time in his long recording career, the harmonica ace steps up to the vocal microphone, and proves to be a singer of considerable wit and depth, without slighting his trademark instrumental wizardry. His is the voice best suited to deliver the boogies, rock and roll, blues, and big beat numbers on this new recording, his first all-original set. Gruenling does it all here. READY OR NOT? Definitely ready!!!” — Tom Hyslop, music journalist “The disc is full of danceable tracks that reprise a time when Blues and R&B sounds were fused to create Rock ‘n’ Roll... features plenty of Gruenling’s outstanding, dynamic harmonica playing. From the swinging beat of “If You Wanna Rock” to his horn-like licks on “Think Twice,” or his full-bodied tone and imaginative playing on “Simmer Down” to the evil-sounding “Ready To Burn”, Dennis offers even further proof that he is undoubtedly one of the finest blues harp players of his generation.” — Mark Thompson, from the liner notes READY OR NOT was cut at Atomic Sound, Brooklyn, NY, during a winter weekend when a mammoth snowstorm shut down New York City. Produced by Steve Conte (Michael Monroe, New York Dolls, Willy DeVille, Company of Wolves), the album features Dennis Gruenling on his worldrenowned Badass Harmonica and all vocals, longtime touring partners from Doug Deming & the Jewel Tones — Doug Deming on guitar and Andrew Gohman on Upright and Fender bass — plus drummer Mike Bram (Gruenling’s Jump Time band, Dave Gross, Jason Mraz), Doug Sasfai on tenor sax, and Dave Keyes on piano.
