CLASSIC CATALOG FROM TRANS AM AVAILABLE AGAIN ON VINYL! NEW TRANS AM ALBUM “VOLUME X” OUT 5/20/14
Trans Am
The Surveillance is Trans Am’s third studio album originally released in 1998. Pressed on high quality virgin vinyl and including a fully artworked inner sleeve and download coupon.
Thrill - 054 LP List $16.99 BOX LOT LP 25 Vinyl is non-returnable NO EXPORT
The Surveillance was the first record recorded and mixed entirely by the band. What is dangerous to Trans Am? It is no noise reduction, no digital tape compression, and no computer aided editing. Instead they relied on live performances, hours of hard work, hands-on mixing, and careful microphone placement. The results are raw, sparse electronic breaks mixed with diesel-powered rock and roll. Trans Am put it in more masculine terms—”balls-to-the-wall-rockers”, which perhaps better capture not only the sound but the intent.

Futurworld is Trans Am’s fourth studio album originally released in 1999. This re-mastered edition is pressed on virgin vinyl and packaged in a high gloss LP jacket with high gloss inner sleeve and download card. The download contains all of the Futureworld tracks in addition to two bonus cuts : album out-take “Nazi/Hippie Empire” and an archival recording from 1996 called “Now You Die, Thriddle Fool” “The world’s heaviest New Wave record.” - Spin “Trans Am realize that the future is always better in our heads now than when we actually get there... Somewhere in a fantasy world, on green pastures of silicon motherboard, in clubs shaped liked RAM chips and transistors, Trans Am is the only rock band with soul, precision, licks, swagger, ambience, and good looks to boot.” - Pitchfork
Red Line is Trans Am’s fifth studio album originally released in 2000. The two LPs are pressed on high quality virgin vinyl and packaged in a deluxe old-style tip-on gatefold jacket with free download card. Red Line features lush vocals, massive horns, tight electronic jams, guest musicians, acoustic guitar, soaring keyboards, in-your-face mixing, and occasional sitar. It is a mammoth recording that documents the band’s mastery of both rock and electronic compositions and captures the true essence of Trans Am. Red Line is the first of the band’s releases to utilize “clean” vocals. Effected vocals exist on some tracks and the infamous vocoder has not disappeared, but for the first time Trans Am venture into the realm of ”normal singing.” The venture is successful. Tracks such as “Play in the Summer”, “Slow Response”, and “I’m Coming Down” show a side of the band that few knew existed.

Terje has been responsible for chart-topping, dance-floor melodies of tracks since the early days of disco’s return with “Eurodans,” “Inspector Norse” and “Snooze 4 Love”. He’s remixed Brian Ferry, Hot Chip and production for Franz Ferdinand gathering him supporters like James Murphy, Nile Rodgers, Jon Hopkins and A-Trak. Todd Terje is continuously stepping up alongside the legends as one of the most prolific dance mavericks of the electronic underground scene today. Widely acclaimed by media with several tracks of the year in both 2012 and 2013 from outlets like Spin, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, KCRW and NPR Heavy Rotation.
Format : 2xLP Vinyl Boxlot: 12 Price: $24.99 Packaging: Wide Spined Standard Jacket with WAV + MP3 DL card
It’s Album Time features one of Terje’s biggest fans Brian Ferry from Roxy Music on vocals covering Robert Palmer’s “Johnny & Mary”. Alongside singles “Strandbar” and “Delorean Dynamite” both named Best New Track’s at Pitchfork Terje masterd the single underground viral hit “Inspector Norse” which rocketed Terje into the high ranks of DJ wizardorder. Following a classic album narrative, it starts out with the poppy, cinematic, and mystifying and takes you through a journey of known singles, Brian Ferry led ballad and finishes off with euphoric dance splendor If anyone was in need of witty, humorous dance music from strange places which - most importantly - is able to fool and overcome itself, It’s Album Time.

In keeping with their single minded voyaging between disparate sonic realms, Colourmusic’s greatest influence has always been their own intuition. Take new album May You Marry Rich, released via Memphis Industries on 24 March 2014: described by co-founder, vocalist and guitarist Ryan Hendrix as their “purple album,” it’s an LP that takes the four-piece’s previous full-length, 2011’s My ___ Is Pink, as starting point and expands upon it in different and unusual directions. Formed in Oklahoma in 2005 with British-born Nick Turner, some years after bonding over Aphex Twin during their University days together, Colourmusic expanded to include bassist Colin Fleishacker and drummer Nicholas Ley. With two previous albums under their belts, “F, Monday, Orange, February, Venus, Lunatic, 1 or 13” and “My ___ Is Pink”, the group have gained a justified reputation for marrying hallucinatory textures and experimental rock tropes with an off-kilter take on the world. Anything from writing songs based on Newton’s theory of colour to songs written at the tempo that people have sex have been explored during their nine years together. May You Marry Rich is a darker affair, though, with its twelve sprawling tracks obsessing over mankind’s seemingly insatiable lust for pure happiness. “It’s about having the option to have anything you want, like a King, and asking whether that would make you happy,” Hendrix explains. “It’s about happiness and a theory that we’re not wired to have contentment as our genetic disposition.” May You Marry Rich, then, is a powerhouse of a record, a towering inferno of ideas. “But we’re not pounding these themes into people’s heads,” Hendrix says. “They’re more prompts, to give you a sense and the flavours of what we’re exploring.” The message is simple then: attempt to join the dots up yourself; just don’t expect your finished picture to be the same as anyone else’s.

School of Language is David Brewis from the Mercury prize-nominated group Field Music. Sea From Shore was David’s first solo effort released in 2007. At the time, Field Music had taken a brief hiatus so that the Brewis brothers could focus on their solo projects. In School of Language, David takes Field Music’s template of combining saccharin-sweet hooks with sleak production and complex arrangements into the solo realm. Sea From Shore is an astounding collection of sophisticated pop-rock that’s packed to the brim with hummable tunes and interesting decisions that are sure to please anyone from the cultiest record snob to luddites who still only listen to The Beatles. Praise for Sea From Shore: “Brewis is never content to just strum through the chord changes. Instead, there are shimmering stabs of piano, off-kilter rhythms, clattering percussion, and gently jarring guitar riffs that keep the listener off-guard and interested. Yet all the sonic trickery Brewis employs never detracts from the songs, letting the reliably stunning melodies shine through clearly.” - All Music (4/5) “This caustic, genuinely experimental appetite present throughout Sea From Shore demonstrates the very rigour that’s missing in vast chunks of the Indie rock scene to which Brewis nominally belongs. Fluent and impressive, you have to wonder why more music produced these days can’t be as joined-up, challenging and as informative as this.” - BBC “It’s a mobius strip of pop, its seemingly smooth surface leading into endless complications. It is fun, even as it catches you offguard, spiraling off into ‘70s Harrison guitar riffs, serene Beatles pop, and Steely Dan-ish changes in tempo and rhythm.” - PopMatters Praise for Field Music: “In the lineage of McCartney, Davies, Partridge, and Albarn, Field Music is a purveyor of catchy, cutting commentary on the weird patterns of modern British life. Yet the duo’s worldview and the minute machinations of its music draw equally from the groundbreaking 20th-century German philosophers Kraftwerk, who only reluctantly drew distinctions between warm bodies and the cold machines surrounding them.” - AV Club “I truly cannot think of a single bad thing to say about this album. It’s unpredictable, ridiculously clever, catchy as hell and as perfect a pop album as you’re ever likely to hear.” - Drowned in Sound

Old Fears. It’s a pop record. A place of clipped falsetto, melancholic funk, iridescent electro, shimmering post-punk, futurist prog. A self-contained sphere of strange sensations. Beguiling textures. Lengthening shadows. At times it is both liminal and minimal, at others emotive and external. Ambiguous and ambient. Tantalising and tempered. Modern. Unique. And funny too. “I wrote a lot of notes and they seemed to distinctly split into things to do with love and things to do with fear,” says David Brewis. “A lot of it has ended up with me looking back at when I was 19, 20 - my formative years. So though I wouldn't want to call it a concept album it's definitely themed.” Old Fears. Here each song has been honed and polished into something pure, like a vast block of marble chiselled down into a perfectly tiny delicate egg of Fabergéesque perfection. Recorded throughout 2013 in Field Music’s studio on the banks of the River Wear in Sunderland, synth flourishes sit alongside the staccato jarring guitars of ‘A Smile Cracks’ and the metronomic rhythms of ‘Dress Up’. Like a Ballard novel or a George Shaw painting, ‘Between The Suburbs’ offers perhaps the most lyrical and poetic moment, where “Dogs chase patterns, play to attention / Bulbs glare on greasy roads...”. The title track meanwhile is reminiscent of the haunting giallo film scores of Goblin or kosmische music at its most moving while ‘Moment Of Doubt’ displays shades of Brian Eno and Robert Wyatt. Other oblique influences come in the form of early Justin Timberlake and N*E*R*D albums, “a bunch of disco records”, Canadian experimentalist Sandro Perri, Dr John, Fela Kuti and Shalamar. Old Fears. A haunted collection that occupies a strange, hazy hinterland of permanent gloaming. One where snatched melodies pass each one another like cars gliding by at night on their way back to the silent suburbs. These are polished pieces composed without contrivance. Old Fears. An album that is neither retrogressive or futurist, but simply anchored in the moment. Pure. By beautiful album closer ‘You Kept Yourself’ one is left with the sensation of seeing, smelling and tasting the world anew. * School Of Language is the nom de plume of Brewis, a member of Mercury prizenominated pop group Field Music. His first album as School Of Language Sea From Shore was released to wide acclaim in 2008. A pop polymath, the past twelve months have also seen David assemble and play in Eleanor Friedberger’s touring band, do production work for Maximo Park, Futureheads-affiliates Rivals, Pea Sea and a collaboration between brother Peter Brewis and Paul Smith, as well as remixes for Dutch Uncles, The Ralfe Band and Phoenix Foundation.

Overview
Squarepusher & Z-Machines is an experimental and whimsical EP project in the tradition of the revolutionary works of Conlon Nancarrow and Gyorgy Ligeti, utilizing the latest technological advances in robotics alongside the mad musical mind of Tom Jenkinson (aka Squarepusher). The music on ‘Music for Robots’ was written in MIDI by Squarepusher and performed and recorded in full by the machines in Tokyo, Japan. The EP will be pressed on collectable 12” with blue, translucent vinyl, as well as a special limited edition Japanese import CD. “I have long admired the player piano works of Conlon Nancarrow and Gyorgy Ligeti. Part of the appeal of that music has to do with hearing a familiar instrument being 'played' in an unfamiliar fashion. For me there has always been something fascinating about the encounter of the unfamiliar with the familiar. I have long been an advocate of taking fresh approaches to existing instrumentation as much as I am an advocate of trying to develop new instruments, and being able to rethink the way in which, for example, an electric guitar can be used is very exciting. Each of the robotic devices involved in the performance of this music has its own specification which permits certain possibilities and excludes others - the robot guitar player for example can play much faster than a human ever could, but there is no amplitude control. In the same way that you do when you write music for a human performer, these attributes have to be borne in mind - and a particular range of musical possibilities corresponds to those attributes. Consequently, in this project familiar instruments are used in ways which till now have been impossible.” - Squarepusher NO EXPORTS NO EXPLICIT CONTENT

“attune to myriad twists and turns, Rone, aka French producer Erwan Castex, guides through ruminative ambient planes and buoyant, uplifting passages.” – Pitchfork
Overview:
After ouring throughout Europe, landing viral videos with The Creators Project, remixes driving clubs wild around the globe, and collaborating with John Stanier (Battles), The National and more - Rone’s musical universe expanded to include live shows and beyond in 2013. Culminating in a sold out hometown show at Paris’ huge, prestigious Olympia concert venue, 2014 is a new day for Rone. On April 8th,Castex will be celebrating the release of his new single on his first proper American tour, including a concert at the legendary Coachella festival. Apache contains three brand new tracks, A-side, “Bachi-Bouzouk” asserts itself as a weapon for the dancefloor - a few crystalline notes before a sleazy acid loop drags the listener through its infinite variations. A deliciously cerebral ballad “Apache” provides a signature Rone break from the disco. On the B-side the celestial introduction of “Origin” soon transforms into an infernal torrent of noise and abstract tones. US 2014 TOUR: 3rd April - Glassland (New York), 4th Apr - Belmont (Montreal), 6th Apr - MCA (Detroit), 8th April Schubas (Chicago), 9th Echo (Los Angeles), 10th Folsom (San Francisco), 12th Coachella - Do Lab Stage (Indio) NO EXPORTS

Downliners Sekt are one of the most pleasant and intriguing surprises of Barcelona’s increasingly in-the-spotlight electronic scene. The duo's sound references the science of Autechre, the ghostly Overview: echoes of Rhythm and Sound’s Burial Mix series, even shards of melted My Bloody Valentineesque shoegaze. They have won over a range of characters including Mount Kimbie, Mary Anne Hobbs, Kevin “The Bug” Martin and John Talabot. Downliners Sekt’s reputation amongst the international electronic music scene was significantly heightened from their 2010-2011 trilogy of EPs – ‘Hello Lonely, Hold the Nation’, ‘We Make Hits, Not the Public’ and ‘Meet the Decline’ – on Barcelona’s Disboot label followed 2 EPs on InFiné ‘Trim/ Tab’ and ‘Balt Shakt’. Now complete and mastered by Berlin sorcerer Rashad Becker, their third album “Silent Ascent” is defining at best Downliners Sekt´s sonic statement : a fractured hymn to the dancefloor and the sounds that move it. The(featuring SkullDaniel Defekts Higgs) Dances in Dreams of the Known Unknown Thrill - 358
When The Skull Defekts entered the studio in the Spring of 2013 with nothing more than a collection of loosely organized riffs, they set out to record their most extreme, challenging rock record. Much to the band’s surprise, what emerged were their most incessantly listenable, approachable songs to date. The Defekts merge the coarse vitality of punk with the ritualism of folk dances to create music that is addictive, wondrously discordant, and rooted in a belief in the overwhelming power of pure sound. Dances in Dreams of the Known Unknown is the Swedish group’s third release as a quintet, with the legendary Daniel Higgs joining Joachim Nordwall and Daniel Fagerstroem on vocal duties and acting as the group’s spiritual ringleader. The Defekts have long acted as the backbone of the Swedish experimental underground, but since their 2011 breakthrough Peer Amid, the group has emerged at the vanguard of a new wave of radical Scandinavian rock music alongside Iceage and the Posh Isolation label. From the opening patter of “Pattern of Thoughts” to the propulsive chants of “Cyborganization,” Dances in Dreams of the Known Unknown feeds on the tension between lean and bright song production and the hefty, sometimes surreal sounds produced by Nordwall and Fagerstroem’s guitars. Daniel Higgs’ spontaneous, metaphoric poetry is as perplexing as ever, but it is delivered with a clarity not heard since his days fronting Lungfish. Album centerpiece “The Known Unknown” is centered around a driving riff, with Nordwall turning the song’s title into a mantra as intense as it is transcendent. Throughout, the group anchors their riffs with exotic sustained chords, adding a distinctly Carnatic flavor. Nordwall’s long history in the European experimental music community serves to reinforce the group’s place as one of the most forward-thinking rock bands working in the continent today. In addition to running iDEAL Recordings since 1998, Nordwall has released collaborative recordings with Mika Vanio of Pan Sonic, Kevin Drumm, and Mats Gustafsson, whose FIRE! Orchestra he recently joined. Although The Skull Defekts have ceased to perform or record noise music, that adventurous spirit is still a dominant part of their music. While previous Man Forever records were Man Forever is John Colpitts (aka Kid Millions). In addition inspired by blissful, overwhelming confusion, Ryonen derives its power to his work as a member of Oneida and People of the North, from its clarity and immediacy. Colpitts has played in Spiritualized, Boredoms, Marnie Stern, The two pieces on Ryonen are rhythmically seductive and instantly exciting while retaining the experimental legacy that Man Forever has cultivated over several albums and relentless touring. “The Clear Realization” is an exploration in polyrhythm performed on two drums sets, two sets of bongos (an instrument Colpitts rediscovered while performing with Yo La Tengo on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon), a concert bass drum, snares, crash cymbals, and vocals. Each instrument is performing in a different time signature at the same tempo, creating a beat that is both propulsive and nonpredictive. “Ryonen” is more chaotic on the surface, but repetitions and rhythms hidden beneath the surface emerge with close listening. The drums are tuned to resonate with each other, creating a series of overtones that hover over the music and provide a baseline drone for the ensemble to harmonize with during the piece’s dramatic climax. Colpitts continues to be one of the most in-demand drummers in New York. Throughout 2013 he toured as a member of Spiritualized, performed in duos with Greg Fox and Jim Sauter, recorded a record with Akron/Family, released an album with People of the North on Thrill Jockey, and performed with Rhys Chatham as a member of Oneida. So far in 2014 he has recorded an album with Rick Moody and is performing with William Basinski at the Ecstatic Music Festival in March. Man Forever will tour the US and Europe performing Ryonen.

Mean Creek – ‘Local Losers’ Track Listing 1. Cool Town 2. My Madeline 3. Anxiety Girl 4. Night Running 5. Johnny Allen 6. Mass. Border 7. Hangover Mind 8. Teenage Feeling “Huge, hooky rock songs” – Stereogum This Boston foursome's ambitions are arenasized — their most recent album, 2012's Youth Companion, opens with the Springsteen strut "Do You Know?" But they avoid bombast by deftly incorporating elements that could've been birthed at a basement show; sinewy disco, slacker fuzz and shoegazey bliss all rear their head over the course of its 10 songs. And "Cool Town," off their forthcoming Local Losers, intersperses punk's desire to get out with indiepop's resigned sighs - eMusic 2014 Next Big Thing BOSTON MUSIC AWARDS WINNER: “ALBUM OF THE YEAR”! The four members of Mean Creek all grew up together in Massachusetts. Listening to similar sounds from the area, they come from a long tradition of Massachusetts bands who also embraced punk inspired rock music; Mission Of Burma, Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., The Lemonheads- all of these bands left a lasting impact on the members of Mean Creek. “Local Losers” is the latest offering from the band. Eight tracks that go by at break neck speed, played with the kind of desperation & force only a young, hungry rock band can bring; A true reflection of their energetic live show. These are songs about love, confusion, loneliness, and heartbreak. Throughout all of life’s ups and downs, two things have always held true for these four, their music and friendship. It’s the sounds, ideas, and emotions that they create when they are in a room together, and that is what this album is all about.

THE ORIGINAL RHYTHM OF GIPSY RHUMBA IN SPAIN 1964-75
Gipsy Rhumba
Soul Jazz Records presents
GIPSY RHUMBA The Original Rhythm of Gipsy Rhumba in Spain 1965-‐1974
Street Date: 8 April 2014
SOUL JAZZ RECORDS
Soul Jazz Records’ new release is the first album ever outside of Spain to focus on the history of Gipsy Rhumba – one of the most interesting musical culture clashes – that first took place in the early 1960s.
Tracklisting
1. 2. 3.
In the Catalan region of Spain, gipsies, primarily known as the creators of Flamenco, came up with a fascinating hybrid style – Gipsy Rhumba – which blended together Latin and Rhumba music of Cuba and the Caribbean together with their own flamenco, as well as the emerging rock’n’roll from America.
4. 5.
As well as a musical overview of this unique art form, the release comes with extensive contextual notes (in English and Spanish) and the photography of Jacques Leonard, who documented gipsy life in the 1960s, creating one of the most important records of their unique world in the 20th century.
6. 7. 8.
Gipsy culture is the original rebel form, existing outside of ‘normal society’, a trans-‐migrant people who value highly the ideas of freedom and independence. Today gipsies are established in many European countries.
9.
At the end of 19th century, gipsies who settled in Southern Spain take hold of flamenco, defined as the ‘Andalusian gipsy’ art. But it is out of the barrios of Barcelona in the North that a new genre appears in 1963: the Catalan Rhumba. A crossroads between flamenco, Caribbean music and rock’n’roll, Catalan gipsies develop a new way of playing flamenco guitar known as the ‘ventilador’, a technique that combines the strumming of guitar strings whilst the palms of the hand drum the rhythm on the body of the guitar. The guitar, the handclaps and certain songs originating from the Caribbean give birth to this new style.
10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. 18.
The Catalan rhumba built its repertoire on Caribbean songs, especially from Cuba and Puerto Rico, but also from New York. However, its true value is how the essence of these songs were used to build a new style, often with just a guitar and some handclaps.
19.
In the 1970s a new generation of gipsy rhumba emerges, as the scene is enriched with a variety of styles, and keyboards, electric guitars, funky basses and wind sections appear. The vocalists start using more flamenco cadences.

In 2014 Luaka Bop will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary with these amazing reissues from its voluminous catalog.
Brazil Classics 1: Beleza Tropical compiled by David Byrne Beleza Tropical was our first release. In some ways it started the trend to compile music from other places. It was a huge success selling over 350,000 copies and is still referred to today by many people turned on to Brazilian culture by this landmark release.
LP
Many of the artists on this compilation are cultural heroes in Brazil (and deserve to be here, too). Their concerts are attended by young and old alike... and almost everyone knows their names. Their music is extremely sophisticated, yet it appeals to almost everyone. They play to sold-out shows in Paris and Tokyo, and yet they represent but a small part of the variety of contemporary styles that can be found in a country as vast as Brazil. -David Byrne

Brazil Classics 5: The Hips of Tradition The Return of Tom Zé The amazing Tom Zé, or as he wrote to us when we were working on this album “Should I change my name? It could be Zé Tom Zé? Or Ze Ze Tom? Or Tom Tom Zé? “ This was his first newly record album after being ‘rediscovered’ and it’s as surprising and special as one would expect from this iconoclast. “Inspired by hard-lit and science fiction, Zé’s tick-tocking sambas and comforting cançãos range from the painfully touching to the inscrutably conceptual. -Spin

This is secret music — a collection of beautiful songs and infectious grooves that’s been hidden for years in the coastal towns and barrios of Peru. It’s not the guys with flutes and drums in woolly hats — it’s music of the black Peruvian communities. Black Peruvians? Yes, Peru was involved in the slave trade too — and this wonderful, funky music is part of that legacy. – David Byrne

The Mysterious Tale of How I Shouted Wrong-Eyed Jesus! Jim White When Jim White’s Luaka Bop debut Wrong-Eyed Jesus appeared in 1997, the unique blend of alt country and metaphysics startled many with its idiosyncratic freshness. It was instantly acclaimed as a classic of the newly burgeoning “sadcore” scene, a point that amused the Florida-based songwriter to no end.

This divertingly arch, multi-kulti hodge-podge plays like a soundtrack for an imaginary Latin nightclub with a selectively demented door policy. The essence of Sergio Mendes trips in first, trailed by a rap that emerges from under a ‘70s disco conceit swathed in silky choirs and cheesy synths. Brazilian Tropicalismo via Caetano Veloso bumps butts with a naive pop organ riff that London hipsters circa 1968 would recognize, until the congas lash out and the whole thing turns into vintage Santana. “[Los Amigos Invisibles] has taken the rhythmic sass in salsa, the bassheavy fun in funk and mixed it all up to produce an infectious beat. [They] have put the joy back into dancing, sending a warm current into the cold alienating waters of industrial strength techno.” – LA Weekly

First time all compilation tracks available on LP! The twelve tracks on the record explore West Africa’s groove-heavy assimilation of the psychedelic revolution, albeit a few years (and a couple thousand miles) removed from 1967’s Summer of Love. Spanning countries such as Mali, Gambia, Benin, Nigeria, Ghana, and Cameroon, this collection spotlights a time of incredible creative fermentation, reflecting on colonialism’s more fortunate byproduct: the fascinating and unique intersection of hallucinogenic, distorted Western psychedelia and local, traditional African music. This phenomenon of Afro-Rock is what lies at the heart of Love’s A Real Thing. This was one of the first compilations of Afro Funk and helped introduce William Onyeabor’s music to the world. Luaka Bop’s celebrated World Psychedelic Classics series began in 2000 with Volume 1: Brazil, a compilation of the inimitable genremelding Brazilian band Os Mutantes, entitled Everything Is Possible! Volume 2: California Soul , released in 2001 as the third solo record from multi-instrumentalist Shuggie Otis (Inspiration Information), successfully reintroduced Shuggie to the world at large. Volume 4; Tim Maia: Existential Soul and Volume 5: Who Is William Onyeabor.

Beneath The Harvest Sky Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
“Dustin Hamman’s music throughout is simply perfect. I already want the soundtrack." - Pretty Clever Films Dustin Hamman is the songwriter and frontman for Run On Sentence, a Portland, OR act that has developed a considerable fan base on the merits of their first two albums and a unique music subscription scheme borrowing from Community Supported Agriculture and Kickstarter models. Beneath The Harvest Sky is Hamman’s first soundtrack, and it’s a compelling debut in the genre. The instrumental music composed for this film sketches out a very tender and sacred space. It is the sound of lonesome pioneers, subsisting on very little. Half of it sounds like fur trappers blowing on their hands to keep warm in a barn without heat. The other half of the music is the opposite of that: fueled by cheap cans of beer crushed under the feet of a band playing in a ditch for a small-town party. The music bursts from moments of euphoria to moments of reverence. Old church pianos are dusted-off and brought to life to merge in a gracious harmony with thrift-store organs. The pieces have a crystalline structure. They have a strength to their construction but they can also be blown away by a too-strong breath. The sound is dirty at times, dirty like the hands of the harvest workers. It's a wellearned dirtiness, of old guitars plugged in the wrong way and punished rather than played. HIGHLIGHTS • The film features up and coming actors Callan McAuliffe (The Great Gatsby), Emory Cohen (The Place Beyond The Pines), and Aidan Gillen (Game Of Thrones) • The film will be distributed by Tribeca Films, incorporating marketing strategies from a team from Harvard Business School.

Gin Fika Recordings LP FIKA036LP 5060044171963 $24.99 CD FIKA036CD 5060044171970 $16.99
Stanley Brinks is joined by The Wave Pictures for their third album together; their first since 2010’s ‘Another One Just Like That’. Recorded entirely live in the studio, without headphones or overdubs, and with a good deal of improvisation, ‘Gin’ is a modern-sounding, in a way avantgarde, old school recording of text-driven songs. To anyone familiar with Stanley Brinks' huge discography - more than 100 albums - ‘Gin’ might sound considerably more raw and less sophisticated than some of his previous recordings. However this body of work remains rich in jazzy sounds and original structures, the songs looser and full of playfulness, the lyrics encapsulating their essence. And it goes without saying that Gin - the drink - was the inspiration for the album; while writing, and while recording. Since leaving Herman Düne in 2006, he has been known solely as Stanley Brinks. Born in Paris, Stan has been living between New York, San Francisco, Malta and Berlin for about a decade, always on the move. He has recorded more than 100 albums, collaborated with the New York Antifolk scene on several occasions, recorded and toured with traditional Norwegian musicians, and played a lot with The Wave Pictures. From the dusky romantic feel of opener ‘One Minute Of Darkness’ to the last track ‘Not To Kiss You’, the album takes in the night, love & passion, the modern way of life, exploration and moving on; all echoed brilliantly in the rich and varied musical interweave - by turns a jam, a calypso, some indie rock, a groovy mantra, a little voodoo rhythm and some good old regular country. All topped off with the Stanley Brinks endearing signature command of naïvely rhymed, over-enunciated English. Lyrically, the songs on Tragic Care explore the emotional fallout after a breakup. During the short, intense 12 day recording and mixing of the album the band also experienced the loss of several family members. The grief, darkness, and longing heard on the album are very real. Tragedy paired with striking harmonies results in a bittersweet, evocative album. Highlights: • Supported Half Moon Run’s European Tour in 2013 • European Tour in Spring 2014 • Song placements on: Degrassi, Rookie Blue and Awkward “A young pop-folk group with a warm, rich and orchestral sound, embellished by striking harmonies” - Rolling Stone France

Flying Saucer Rock N Roll (the First Three 7”s plus!)
Groovie Ghoulies
Positively praised by Maximum Rock n Roll's Tim Yohannan upon their original release, the first three 7”s from California's garage/punk legends the Groovie Ghoulies have been compiled for the first time ever on “Flying Saucer Rock N Roll.” Released to coincide with the group's 30 th anniversary, this collection presents the first ten official songs the band ever released - on vinyl for the first time in over 25 years, and for the first time ever on compact disc! The tracks are newly transferred and re-mastered for digital release. In addition, the Green Door Recording Company vaults have turned up three primitive and rare studio bonus tracks, newly discovered and available for the first time ever in all three formats! They were originally dubbed and sold by the band in cassette format in the late 80's!
Release Date: 4/8/2014 "Flying Saucer Rock N Roll" captures all the early rawness and energy of the young and eager Kepi as he and his friend Eric just lay down tracks with a Highlights of Catalog: drum machine on a Tascam 4 track cassette recorder!!! No laws, no rules, just - The Groovie Ghoulies catalog is a treasury in the world of rock n roll! You can hear the presence of many of the bands that remained life-long influences on the band, from the obvious (Rolling Stones, Ramones) punk/garage/pop-punk. to the more sublime (Billy Bragg, Neil Diamond). - Groovie Ghoulies records, tapes, and CDs have been These recordings are rare and historic, and mark the first of twelve planned releases which will result in a full catalog re-issue from this entertaining and enduring band. These releases will trace the evolution of Groovie Ghoulies, and this album is the first chapter in the story! A young Kepi Ghoulie, who didn't even have a full band line-up, felt so driven by the D.I.Y. punk and new wave movement, and the need to create his own brand of hi-energy rock n roll, that he recruited his friend to record his crazy vision like a rock n roll Ed Wood! And so away they went! That dream has not stopped to this day! 30 years and close to 20 full length records later, Kepi is still at it, writing, recording, and touring at a relentless and passionate pace.
pressed in over 5 countries and have sold over 70,000 physical copies. - The fact that a single rare Groovie Ghoulies LP can fetch upwards of $200, and the fact that the majority of the catalog has been out of print for over seven years, will allow a new fan the opportunity to now purchase the ENTIRE CATALOG for the price of one rare LP. - LPs are pressed on color vinyl and include digital download card.
Marketing Plan: - ALL Groovie Ghoulies catalog re-issues will feature ALL NEW artwork by master artist Tom Neely (Groovie Ghoulies, Haints, 'Henry and Glenn Forever').
Thousands upon thousands of Groovie Ghoulies records have been sold over the years. Their songs have been placed in B-movies and snow and skateboard videos. The most random and unusual places: that is where you will find Kepi and his 'Ghoulie Family'.
- Kepi Ghoulie continues to tour (over 20 countries and 48 states) relentlessly and still includes songs from all the releases in his live shows. Last year saw three full U.S. and three full European tours, including many festivals and shows with Kevin Seconds (7 Seconds), and the Aquabats!
Let's relive the magic that provided part of the soundtrack to the lives of so many Southern Californians. It was a scene which grew into part of the East Bay Pop Punk sound, to Asian Man records and now on into the Burger Records generation! Hail Hail Flying Saucer Rock n Roll! Long may it rock, out into the Universe, second verse same as the first!

TROPHY SCARS : HOLY VACANTS DIGI CD MONO85CD 5065002002716 $15.99 2LP + POSTER + CD MONO85VNL 5065002002754 $34.99 Holy Vacants, the fourth album from New Jersey’s Trophy Scars, sees them deliver their magnum opus as they continue to evolve their sound. Holy Vacants uses as its springboard a bizarre cocktail of mythology, ancient religion, and conspiracy theory surrounding the Nephilitic gene. The narrative may be conceptually out-there, but it doesn’t fence the album in and stands as a metaphor for far simpler and more widely recognized issues – the idealization of youth, loss of identity and corrupted innocence. Listening to the likes of opener “Archangel” and “Qeres”, with its free-wheeling but complex and cathartic, psychedelic blues, it’s obvious the band have moved light years away from their post-hardcore early years. They reveal their admiration for Springsteen with “Crystallophobia”, “Everything Disappearing” and “Extant”, and for Jimi Hendrix via “Hagiophobia”, while elsewhere there are echoes of G’N’ Rand The Mars Volta. But what might sound like an unworkable agglomeration of disparate parts is an intense and cohesive, hugely compelling whole, with contrasts that make for a visceral immediacy. 1. Extant 2. Qeres 3. In it, the duo continues to explore the fusion of Stumbleine’s electronic beats and dreamy, shoegaze guitars with Violet Skies’ soulful pop / R’NB vocals. From the slow-burning soul of opener Thunderdome through the catchy melodic pop of Sunset Boulevard and Heroine, the propulsive R’NB of Her Touch and Whirlpool and the swirling shoegaze-infused balladry of One Step Closer and Sleeping Through The Day, Dissolver delivers a welcome progression to the pop genre that seamlessly blends classic pop sensibilities with modern R’NB, contemporary electronica and 80’s shoegaze indie. The music still retains the trademark lush production that Stumbleine is noted for, with strong melody lines and compelling lyrics penned by Violet Skies. With Violet now involved in the songwriting, Peter affirms that she’s given Stumbleine a face and stamped his music with her personality. “She makes the music stand out and has opened the door to a wider audience,” he says, “I’ve pushed myself much harder over the past year to create something a bit different”. 1. Leif Vollebekk North Americana Leif Vollebekk spent two years searching for perfect takes. This search took him from his home in Montreal to a studio in Manhattan, from a farmhouse in Woodstock, NY to a mansion outside Paris, and the result is a dusty, polished, new, old record called North Americana. “All this time,” Vollebekk says, “trying to get one take.” But the result is a beautiful, alive, human – shambling ballads, noisy folk songs, vivid portraits of a 27-year-old’s watercolour life. “I feel like I created a record from 1970 something that no one’s heard before,” Vollebekk says. “I’m haggard and this record is all I got.” North Americana is already being championed in the US by such notable publciations as Rolling Stone, Paste and NPR whos Ann Powers listed North Americana on her Under the Radar Albums of 2014 and said “Vollebekk also openly borrows from Jeff Buckley - always a daring move. With a grit-and-honey voice and a way of opening up his own confessions until they become universal, Vollebekk pulls it off.”

WUNDER WUNDER is the creative conception of Australian music producers, Aaron Shanahan and Benjamin Plant. After many years of producing and writing electronic music, the duo have given birth to a new project that adventures into their love of colourful psychedelic '60s and '70s pop. Having spent the last two years relocated in Los Angeles, an overflow of inspiration left them with a combination of everything from soft, blissed-out dreamscapes to the hot Californian sun burn's that will be felt with their first single 'Coastline'.
With an amalgamation of lo-fi
squelch, dreamy guitars and warping synths, WUNDER WUNDER is a true aural trip into the west coast sun. Through a kaleidoscope of melodies, they provide the sonic color and boldness that most music seems to forget.

DJ Clent - the low end legend - has been known for his music since the days of Dance Mania, releasing tracks such as 'Bounce' and 'Back Up Off Me' which are juke classics. He also released the grimy call to arms footwork track '3rd Wurle', as well as tracks on both Bangs & Works Compilations.
TRACK LISTING:
SIDE A: HYPER FEET BABY YEAH 2012
'Hyper Feet' starts off the EP with a high-speed footwork homage to Mike Dunn's classic 'Magic Feet', replicating the hits and using 303 acid to make a sparse but precision-tooled piece of footwork. Next up, 'Baby Yeah' works a vocal and sax sample into shimmering cut-ups and high-speed rhythmic shapes.
SIDE B: CLENT’S DOG CATCHER DON’T GO DOWN DON’T LEAVE ME (BABY)
On side B 'Clent's Dog Catcher' is a half-speed chop up of the intro to George Clinton's famous 'Atomic Dog', sliced and diced into itchy, slippery shapes. 'Don't Go Down' pits an MPC drum workout of the word "down" against a looped "don't go" sample and a mournful piano line, while 'Don't Leave Me (Baby)' contrasts soul samples with a clipped vocal of of 'Baby C'mon' before the track flips into cascading synths.
