WHAT'S INSIDE: Space People | Lou Reed | A Winged Victory For The Sullen
Salinas Records was founded in 2003 in the same way that quite a few other DIY punk labels got their start: put out a 7” so your band can go on tour. Originally existing in the world of ramshackle poppunk the label has slowly grown up along with the bands, and has taken on an indie-rock feel, with recent records showing alt-country flare or being chock full of lush bedroom recordings. Despite the evolving style, thirteen years after it’s start, Salinas is still a simple operation with a simple philosophy: put out friends’ records and try not to get in the way. P.S. BONOBO “MIGRATION”
Street Date: 1/13/2017 ZEN236 | ZEN236X | ZENCD236 Simon Green aka Bonobo returns with his sixth album, the masterful, magisterial “Migration” – a record which cements his place in the very highest echelons of electronic music and beyond. By turns lush, manic, beautiful, melancholy, joyful, packed with both emotion and technical skill, this is perhaps his most ambitious attempt yet to capture the very textures of human existence in his work, as Green says of the broad dynamics on the album, "Life has highs, lows, loud and quiet moments, beautiful ones and ugly ones. Music is a reflection of life." In particular, there is a theme here of migration, eruditely put by Green as “The study of people and spaces,” he expands, “It’s interesting how one person will take an influence from one part of the world and move with that influence and effect another part of the world. Over time, the identities of new places evolve.” It is a theme with a personal as well as a sociological aspect to it. Opener and title track “Migration” sets the tone for the record – a shifting, gradually building combination of complex electronic programming (Green programmed a special algorithm to create the drum sequencing) and live piano playing, the sense of movement in the music is palpable. “Outlier” channels a swinging take on 2-step back into luscious romanticism, before changing direction and finishing hard on the dance-floor (not for nothing has Bonobo talked about the central importance to the overall feel of the album of his all-night Output DJ residencies in NY where he road-tested tracks, his ‘Outlier’ club curation series and visits to the Kompakt Studios). “Second Sun” mixes guitar, feedback and strings in completely unfamiliar ways. “Kerala” takes a RnB vocal sample from a classic Brandy track and uses it more as texture than as voice. This innovation is expanded upon and broadened on “Grains,” this time with the voice of folk godfather Pete Seeger. Beyond this, Green continues his theme of migration, through his guests and also his choice of found sound, which both strengthen and deepen “the transitory nature of the record.” Michael Milosh, from the LA group Rhye, for instance, is originally from Canada and recorded his affecting vocal over a harp and beautiful horn work in a hotel room in Berlin. Green, meanwhile built the structure of the track during a transatlantic flight (another meaning of “Migration” rests in the fact of making large chunks of the record while out on the road). Nick Murphy (formerly known as Chet Faker), on the other hand, is from Australia, but a shared love of disco brought the pair together for the hugely emotive “No Reason.” Nicole Miglis of Hundred Waters delivers a superbly understated vocal for the glistening textures of “Surface,” while Moroccan band Innov Gnawa, based in New York, make up the last of the vocals, offering real grit and beauty to the housey shuffle of “Bambro Koyo Ganda.” Additionally, Green has used a sampler (“but not in a big boomer, wearing a cagoul kind of way.”) and woven found sounds such as an elevator in Hong Kong airport, rain in Seattle, a tumble dryer in Atlanta and a fan boat engine in New Orleans into his intricate sonics. His 2013 album “The North Borders” went Top 30 in the UK and was number 1 in the electronic charts in both the US and UK. In support of that record, the 12 piece band Green runs played 175 shows worldwide, including two sell outs at the Sydney Opera House, an all-day festival at the Roundhouse and a sold out show at Alexandra Palace plus a number of high profile festival slots. Bonobo has built a large, loyal and engaged global fanbase: over half a million album sales and over one hundred and fifty million streams on Spotify point to the levels of success achieved by this quiet, self-effacing man. It might be difficult to imagine it, but “Migration” will take his beautiful, emotive, intricate music to an even bigger audience. After all, the personal can also be universal. RELEASE
OVERVIEW
Reflection is the latest work in a long series. It started (as far as record releases are concerned) with Discreet Music in 1975 ( - or did it start with the first Fripp and Eno album in 1973? Or did it start with the first original piece of music I ever made, at Ipswich Art School in 1965 - recordings of a metal lampshade slowed down to half and quarter speed, all overlaid?) Anyway, it’s the music that I later called ‘Ambient’. I don’t think I understand what that term stands for anymore - it seems to have swollen to accommodate some quite unexpected bedfellows - but I still use it to distinguish it from pieces of music that have fixed duration and rhythmically connected, locked together elements.

The pedigree of this piece includes Thursday Afternoon, Neroli (whose subtitle is Thinking Music IV) and LUX. I’ve made a lot of thinking music, but most of it I’ve kept for myself. Now I notice that people are using some of those earlier records in the way that I use them - as provocative spaces for thinking - so I feel more inclined to make them public. Pieces like this have another name: they’re GENERATIVE. By that I mean they make themselves. My job as a composer is to set in place a group of sounds and phrases, and then some rules which decide what happens to them. I then set the whole system playing and see what it does, adjusting the sounds and the phrases and the rules until I get something I’m happy with. Because those rules are probabilistic ( - often taking the form ‘perform operation x, y percent of the time’) the piece unfolds differently every time it is activated. What you have here is a recording of one of those unfoldings.

A Winged Victory For The Sullen, the otherworldly collaboration between Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie and Dustin O’Halloran, commence the New Year with their third full-length titled Iris – available worldwide via Erased Tapes on January 13 2017. th
Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie and Dustin O'Halloran first met the director Jalil Lespert after he had discovered A Winged Victory For The Sullen on a music search online. After listening to their music, he immediately knew: "it was the sound of my new film". With an excellent cast of France’s finest actors Romain Duris, Charlotte Le Bon, and the director himself, plus a script filled with tension, sexuality and darkness, they knew there was a lot of musical territory to mine. It was agreed that they wanted to explore more analogue electronique experiments as well as working with a large string ensemble, to create something that felt very modern and still cinematic. “Despite A Winged Victory For The Sullen being associated with film score type music, trying to survive the process of creating the modern film score is not for people with fragile egos. It requires those who are the most responsive to change. The director and the film presented a new set of challenges, so we decided to stop thinking about cinema as an object, and moved closer to using the film’s images as triggers for experiences. The more we were able to let go, and see the music as something that happens, like a process – not a quality, the more we were able to reach a place that sounded like us. It was as if we were making our first record all over again, except being filtered through another language littered with dead metaphors”, the duo elaborate. The recording sessions began with their long time sound collaborator Francesco Donadello in the form of some modular synth sessions in Berlin. Dustin and Adam began working from the script in their own studios, and after filming commenced they continued to create music that could be used for first edits of the film – each day getting new scenes that triggered ideas that would become the base of the film score. Over the course of the next few months the two slowly crafted the music with weekly discussion from their studio to the editing room. The final sessions to what is now the score of Iris were recorded with a 40-piece string orchestra at Magyar Radio in Budapest. Upon label founder Robert Raths' request the over sixty minutes of material were then edited down to a concise album listen at forty-one minutes with a physical release set for January 13, 2017. The digital bonus track edition includes two solo pieces by Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie entitled The Endless Battle Of The Maudlin Ballade Part 2 and The Endless Battle Of The Maudlin Ballade Part 3, as well as tracks by Petite Noir, dOP, DJ Pone and The Shoes which feature in the film. The artwork was created by Berlin based illustrator Stephanie F. Scholz who also created the iconic cover for Nils Frahm's Music for The Motion Picture Victoria. PRESS for their album Atomos: ‘Forbidding abstract landscapes rise up into plangent songs’ – Pitchfork 'Altered states indeed’ ★★★★ – Mojo 'It's a strange and beautiful album' ★★★★ – Q ‘A slow-burning, deeply resonant collection’ (9/10) – Clash 'It’s as elegant and grandiose and soothing and enveloping as it ever was' (8/10) – Drowned In Sound

SPACE PEOPLE WET
Januar y 13, 2017 Gotham-based beat scientist Space People returns to Styles Upon Styles with Wet, the long-awaited follow-up to last year’s debut, SHMM. From the neck-snapping wobble of “East” to the clap-that-ass insistence of “Work,” Wet finds Space People combining a postTimbaland, found-sound futurism with a powerful helping of gridless, hard-swinging cosmic slop. But here, a hard ear for the weird doesn’t mean a lean towards the tedious, as is often the case: the six-track set clocks in at just shy of 16 minutes, a refreshing bid for concise length and split-second motivic development in an age in which the ocean’s motion is often all but an afterthought. Wet succeeds as a work both succinct and expressive, tending as much towards the psychic as the overtly sexual, and uniting the two in a humid orgy of avant-garde boom-bap and boogie bass. A capable multi-instrumentalist and native New Yorker, Space People builds frenetic, funk-laden tracks using digital and analog synthesizers, drum machines, and an expansive sample library. His work showcases a sound that is just as likely to recall Charles Stepney’s cinematic arranging or Giorgio Moroder’s harmonic palette, as it is J Dilla’s poltergeist trying to skype you through your home appliances. His career as a collaborator has been unusually fruitful. He’s maintained a decade-long partnership with songwriter Gabriel Garzón-Montano with several releases to date, most recently the official remix of Mayer Hawthorne’s “Lingerie & Candlewax.” He has garnered critical acclaim for his production work on Chi’ren, the 2016 EP from fellow Styles artists Quincy Vidal, and remains an indispensable part of their live performances. Most recently, he served as music director for the debut live performance of Latasha Alcindor’s B(LA)K at National Sawdust. The visual components to Wet - both the album design and the title track’s accompanying video - were carefully crafted by longtime Styles collaborator, multimedia artist Santiago Carrasquilla.

Measha Brueggergosman Songs of Freedom
Measha Brueggergosman is an award-winning soprano who is recognized around the world for her spectacular voice, innate musicianship, magnificent performance style and vibrant personality. She has shared the stage with the likes of Bill Gates and former U.S. President Bill Clinton and given performances for Nelson Mandela, Kofi Annan and Queen Elizabeth II. At the 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, 3.2 billion television viewers from across the globe witnessed her singing during the Opening Ceremonies. Her musical range encompasses everything from gospel hymns and jazz standards to classical music. Measha Brueggergosman embodies the term ‘diva’ in the best sense. Who else could boast of both singing opera on the world’s most prestigious stages and acting as a judge on Project Runway? The dynamic and multifaceted Juno award winner embarks on an emotional and spiritual journey in creating her critically acclaimed gospel album, Songs of Freedom. Measha Brueggergosman’s exploration of African-American spirituals was not only a departure from her usual classical genre, it was deeply personal for her: “I wanted to explore this repertoire because it’s dear to my heart. They are a very important part of my family’s history. It is the music of my people. My ancestors were stolen from Africa and sold into slavery in the United States before finding freedom in Nova Scotia. The spirituals were born out of a time when my people were oppressed and needed to find a way not only to communicate with each other, but also to express themselves.” In 2007, Brueggergosman discovered her family's deep history in Canada and the United States. Her great-grandparents, African Americans who each escaped slavery in New England colonies during the American Revolution by going to British lines, and their five-month-old daughter Fanny, born free in British lines, had passage in 1783 on one of the last ships to leave New York for Nova Scotia. Brueggergosman learned of her African-American roots on the television show Who Do You Think You Are. According to Y-DNA genetic testing of her brother, it is likely their direct-line paternal African ancestors came from the Bassa people of Cameroon. Upon the discovery that her family is of Cameroonian descent, Measha naturally set off to Cameroon to explore their roots and was immediately consumed with the culture; singing with a Cameroonian artist and speaking beautiful French. "It is an incredibly exciting opportunity to learn that I am from Cameroon and then be able to act on it," says Measha, "to embark on a journey that seeks to reintegrate me into a culture that my ancestors were essentially stolen from through slavery in the 1700s is an experience that is quite surreal. Being from Cameroon is, in some ways, both amazing and terrifying." Songs of Freedom is Measha’s connecting with her faith, her past, and honoring her family. The album and tour celebrate freedom but also shine a light on our nation’s past. The film Songs of Freedom which documented Meahsa's journey was nominated for 4 Canadian Screen Awards. ZAVALA (Alexander Zavala ) is a Chicago based electronic music producer born and raised on the outskirts of Chicago. For the past 15 years Zavala has been creating and defining a unique sound of his own with influences heavily based in golden era hip hop & house. A sound of which is dense in melody & textural soundscapes and is often described as a moody combination of the dark with the blissful, all built on a foundation of analog synthesizers, drum machines & samplers. Zavala first gained recognition in 2010 with his debut "Canciones Modernas" A vinyl only - split 12" W/ Legendary Chicago producer DJ PNS Of The Molemen) released on vinyl-centric Fieldwerk Recordings, a record label co-founded by Zavala. All the while, Zavala began his role as production and 1/2 of the left field hip-hop duo DARK TIME SUNSHINE. The duo combining Veteran MC Onry Ozzborn (of Grayskul/ Rhymesayers) gained critical notarity later that year in 2010 with their debut LP "Vessel" released on Fake Four Inc. and subsequently spent the following 5 years touring extensively. Since his debut release in 2010, Zavala has worked very little outside of Dark Time Sunshine with only a few solo releases on labels such as iNSECT RECORDS & Fake Four Inc. as well as remixes for the likes of Aesop Rock, Busdriver & Sister Crayon.

“A record of disarming beauty and stunning emotional focus, with the power to stop the world in its tracks. Karin Bergquist is a singer unparalleled in her subtle twists of emotion. A highlight record of the year…” — PERFORMING SONGWRITER
Great Speckled Dog is proud to partner with redeye for an exciting limited-edition release of OHIO on vinyl in North America and beyond. Currently at 40,000+ sales, this double album originally released by EMI in 2003, continues to generate passionate responses from listeners and critics alike, finding its way on to BEST OF lists, and continuing to receive airplay and garner film and TV placements.
PASTE Magazine’s original 5-Star (highest rating) review of OHIO: “There can be no adequate labels for music this dense, this conflicted, this emotionally charged. OHIO is a true confessional masterpiece, a cry from the ravaged heartland that knows neither border nor boundary.”
“Karin Bergquist may be the finest singer in the alt-country/Americana scene right now, striking “Take a trip through this Ohio duo’s music, and the perfect balance between earthy sensuality and you’ll want to follow them anywhere…” – USA TODAY ethereal grace.” – THE NEW YORK TIMES
“There may be no more soothing voice in music than Karin Bergquist’s. She could be interpreting jazz standards, but fortunately she applies that balm to her and husband Linford Detweiler’s beautifully languid originals…” – ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY The Best Things We Saw At Americanafest: “Over the Rhine, with no sign of fatigue, is a band whose moment has finally arrived…” – ROLLING STONE

SILBERBLICK HYENA YOU CAUGHT UP SOUTHEND AFTER EVERYONE HAS LEFT TURNCOAT MOTORBATH BAD HABITS RIDGES EVERYBODY RUNS A ‘soft error’ is computer language for a faulty occurrence in a digital memory system that changes an instruction in a program or a data value. When associated with music making, it’s a name that inevitably suggest the notion, or even celebration, of happenstance and serendipity, and that’s certainly part of the spirit evoked by Mechanism, the seductive, widescreen debut album from instrumental duo Soft Error. A largely electronic pairing, Soft Error are otherwise known as Tim and Rupert, both of whom have musical backgrounds in dance music/DJ culture and composition for film, theatre and TV, respectively. Soft Error, however, represents a thrilling new artistic beginning rather than being simply another musical ‘project’. Recorded at Valgeir Sigurðsson’s renowned Greenhouse Studio in Reykjavik, Iceland (a kind of neutral ground, as Rupert is based in London, Tim in Paris), Mechanism certainly proffers a very fresh and singular brand of musical
intrigue by reaching back and forward simultaneously – to the innovative, propulsive thrum of 1970s Krautrock and the grainy textures and preternatural tonalities of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop on one hand and to the symphonic, futuristic soundscapes of composers like Cliff Martinez, John Carpenter and Jon Hopkins on the other. That said, there is also something wonderfully timeless about the album’s nine, finely wrought essays, across which synthesisers, keyboards and drum machines are deployed for their sonic and emotion-stirring possibilities, rather than as a nod to any particular niche or trend. Indeed, it’s Soft Error’s enviable facility for fashioning both intimate textural detail and strong melody – often in the same song – that distinguishes them; that, along with an obvious immunity from stylistic prescriptiveness and an Eno-like ability to comprehend that ‘soft errors’ in the studio are not always problematic.

TIN ANGEL TIN ANGEL
POP POP

Arriving hot on the heels of his March 2015 album Rozy Maze – a sanguine dream of McCartney pop, 1960s movie soundtrack sparkle with stoned Beach Boys melodies, released on Tin Angel Records – I'm Willing sees Marker move further away from his previous guise, Mantler, under which he released four cult acclaimed albums on German imprint Tomlab. “I wanted to make an album that would contrast strongly with my previous one,” explains Marker. “It was my first time making a record outside of Toronto, and without any of my usual collaborators.” The opportunity had come up to make a record in a small studio on the fringes of Paris with Laetitia Sadier producer Emmanuel Mario, “so naturally I wanted to make that happen! But I only had two months before the session, and I quickly had the idea to make an all-covers record, which had been a long-simmering idea of mine.” The result is a tender patchwork essay on the nature of love that, across 10 spell-binding covers, adventures through ecstatic proto-disco ('For Real', originally by Flowers), Brazilian Tropicalia (Caetano Veloso's 'Lost In The Paradise'), spiritual jazz (Doug Hammond's 'Moves'.) Stereolab's Sadier turns up on a rendition of Bobby Cole's 'Perfect Day' that dials down the scatty fervour of the original in favour of something more svelte. “Let's forget all our troubles and sorrows,” sings Marker on the album's defiantly upbeat closing track, a cover of Brazilian MPB mainstay Ivan Lins. “This is the smiling hour.” Warm, wise and wonderful, the beautiful I'm Willing will put a grin on your face that long outlasts 60 minutes. Tracks: Stormy / Perfect Day / I'm Willing / For Real / Amsterdam / Lost In Paradise / Meaning Of Love / Would You Believe In Me / Moves / The Smiling Hour

Quicksails - Mortal
MOUNTAIN HAUSMO52 - LP - $15.99
Ben Billington has devoted a decade of his life to Chicago’s overlapping scenes of experimental DIY, electronic music, and free jazz as a part of seminal outfits including Tiger Hatchery, ONO, and ADT. His solo music under the Quicksails moniker compresses his mastery of synthesis and percussion into dense electro-acoustic compositions animated by stacked layers of rhythm and alien texture. Mortal, his first LP for Hausu Mountain following releases on labels like Spectrum Spools, NNA Tapes, and Captcha, finds Quicksails piecing together some of his most complex compositions to date, steering his network of synths, samplers, and acoustic instruments through conflicting emotional territories as a means of personal catharsis and abstracted self expression. Each track on Mortal presents its own mosaic of juxtaposed textures and moods, as electronic and acoustic elements swell together into short RIYL: Emeralds, Sun Ra narrative arcs: lush polyphonic synth lines clash or collude over Arkestra, Golden Retriever, basslines that trudge through the nether regions of the mix; 70s Miles Davis massive saxophone and trumpet fanfares (performed by Heavy-weight LP. Artwork designed by Sam Nigrosh Billington’s ADT bandmates Carlos Chavarria and Jake Acosta) (Oozing Wound, Form A weave through layers of complementary electronic melody; busy Log, Grasshopper) percussion lines sound out from drum kit, hand percussion, and drum machine, smearing together into a rhythmic bedrock that blurs the line between the synthetic and the organic.

“Maybe part of the reason this record is such a refreshing listen is that avant-garde musicians interested in fusing jazz, rock and electronics are something of a rare breed these days. But even if the opposite were true, Mayville Dream would still stand out, because the bulk of its charm ultimately rests on Billington’s ability to create music that is personal, unique and really quite soulful.” - Resident Advisor “in that diversity lies a series of fully-realized moments that always seem to finish at the right time.” Tiny Mix Tapes
Quicksails composed Mortal during a year of intense personal upheavals, and he presents the album as a series of obliquely diaristic sketches coded with the emotional residue of real life events. “The Compound Blues” evokes claustrophobia with its queasy bassline and shuffling percussion, but reclaims a more even mindset as layers of yearning saxophone and filtered synth washes drift into the mix. “Silent Separation” bursts over spastic IDM rhythmic grids and light-speed electronic squelches, which all come to share space with walls of major-key synth harmony. “Left Temple” mimics the mental overload of a migraine episode with arrhythmic noise formants and dizzy peals of atonality. For all the darkness this music is capable of channeling, Quicksails’ optimism and joyfulness shines through in each track’s baroque construction and inevitably redemptive climax. He finds room in his compositions for untold layers of acoustic instrumentation, from tabla to gong to gamelan-like chimes, which achieve a form of reverse synthesis by becoming nearly indistinguishable from his electronics. Meanwhile, his synth patches pound out and burst with the attack and the finegrained textures of acoustic percussion, or blend seamlessly in electro-acoustic bliss with sax and trumpet leads. Quicksails explores the uncanny valley between performance styles and traditions, achieving a hybridized performance style that uses the experimental electronic and free jazz vocabularies as tools for nuanced storytelling and pointed personal exploration.

The band have selected ten of the primest cuts from the early-topresent days for you the listener to get acquainted with. How you haven’t heard half of these is beyond us, some of it even got rave reviews in Pitchfork, DIY and The NME before now! From the clattering opening numbers of the ‘three piece’ days which showcase the band doing their best impressions/rip offs of bands like Harlem and The Black Lips on tracks like ‘The Lurgy’ to some of the more driving pop material shown in previously well received singles like ‘Edgar’, we’re covering a lot of ground here, it’s got the old crowd favourite/heavy metal shredder ‘Sauna Song’ stacked right up against ‘Gravesend Song’ which has a Strange Boys styled bluesy swing to it with total ‘not proud of my hometown’ lyrics to match. A diverse release of early material by a band whose love of garage rock/proto-punk has evolved into the tightly knit unit they are today. Featuring out of press 45 songs, rare-shelved cuts and singles from the band’s time on the PNKSLM roster. Dana Countryman’s Girlville New Songs In The Style Of Yesterdays Hits Teensville CD
TV1019CD 0643950321971
$14.99
Producer Dana Countryman has written and recorded three albums of his particular brand of “retro-pop” over the past three years, but his “Girlville” album is a little different. Having studied the work of the classic Brill Building songwriters, he decided to challenge himself to write brand new songs that sound like they would have fit in with the “girl group” hits of the early ‘60s. W ith the help of two collaborators, Frank M. Young, and Frank Buttgereit, Countryman wrote 19 songs from the point of view of a 16-year old girl, living back in the early ‘60s. The job of bringing the songs of “Girlville” to life, went to carefully selected female lead vocalists including Lisa Mychols, Molly Felder, Kathy Hettel, Tricia Countryman, Julie Johnson Sand, Andrea Perrey, Kelly Harland and Lisa Jenio.. Alan Haber of Pure Pop Radio says, “Dana Countryman’s ‘Girlville’ is one of the freshest, most absorbing, fun albums I’ve heard in a very long time! I think more than a few feet will be tapping to these great songs. This is quite simply a fantastic album!”

In 2015 The Cavemen swapped their native New Zealand for the grimy streets of London. And 2016 sees them rising from the gutter with a brand new record on which these four miscreants have spurt out 13 syphilitic tracks of rock’n’roll apathy. The Cavemen touch on everything from lost love, murderous desires and their burning disdain for sophisticated artistic expression. Features plenty of greasy riffs, uncouth howling, and road-rash-raw garage punk. Think a dose of Dead Moon, with a little of the Cramps and the Stooges, and then throw on a whole heap of vintage trash punk’s debauchery. That’s essentially The Cavemen. It’s sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll conveyed via lo-fi, psychotic ’77 era punk rock. Both nihilistic and hedonistic at the same time, this is a record to shake the cobwebs out of your ears. It isn’t sophisticated or remotely complex. It’s one of those wonderful loose-nut albums that reminds you that life is short, and when it’s not being nasty as hell it’s simply dull as ditch water. So you might as well crank that volume knob to eleven, snigger at intentionally juvenile lyrics and get busy making your own filthy fun, before you die in some tediously mundane fashion. 1960 may have been the year that Instrumentals hit the charts in a big way, but it was in 1961, that their hold on the hit parade was consolidated with a good number of guitar or sax-led rockers and slinky organ groovers. These are the discs that teenagers wanted to hear in the juke joints: exciting, uptempo stompers with catchy, melodic riffs, and slow, soulful, down home blues. Our compilation throws the spotlight on instrumentals by artists who are more widely associated with vocals, along with more obscure musicians who may only have one or two releases to their name Disc 1 1.
