three lobed recordings
Three Lobed Recordings is excited to announce our new distribution partnership with Redeye. To mark the occasion, we’re offering a 10% discount on all catalog items, including the highlighted titles listed below. Discount ends 1/31/2016. Visit the TLR website at threelobed.com to view our entire catalog.
Steve Gunn: Boerum Palace (TLR-‐054) LP UPC: 844185096874 $16.99
The first studio album from one of the most skilled solo guitar players on the scene today.
An essential chapter from the catalog from the late legend of contemporary guitar. Haunting and masterful single-‐ take solo guitar.
Daniel Bachman: River (TLR-‐114) LP UPC: 711574786817 $19.99 CD UPC: 711574786824 $9.99
Gunn’s confidently focused 2009 classic. Equal parts explosive and contemplative, a cannon shot from this rising luminary of the modern guitar scene.
Jack Rose: The Black Dirt Sessions (TLR-‐066) LP UPC: 844185054102 $16.99
Three Lobed Recordings was founded in 2000 and celebrates the best in contemporary psych, out, rock and solo guitar. Vinyl-‐centric, its releases focus on enthusiastic and open artists who truly know themselves and are mindfully expressing particular goals with their work. “Three Lobed’s signal-‐to-‐noise ratio remains nearly perfect.” Grayson Haver Currin, Pitchfork.
Bardo Pond: Refulgo (TLR-‐101) LP UPC: 711574767618 $29.99
A remastered collection of these veteran psych rockers earliest singles and compilation tracks.
Horseback: Piedmont Apocrypha (TLR-‐096) LP UPC: 711574767915 $18.99 CD UPC: 711574772520 $9.99
Chuck Johnson: Crows In The Basilica (TLR-‐099) LP UPC: 711574753215 $19.99
Johnson’s second solo guitar album is a An expressive chapter of the detailed and showcase for expertly performed, thoughtful compositions. Features many beautiful dark music of Jenks Miller – tracks used within the PBS series “A part metal, part art, part folk, part Chef’s Life.” pastoral. Entirely dark and expressive.
Fire talk was founded in 2008 by Woodsmanʼs Trevor Peterson and stationed in Denver Colorado. In 2011 the label relocated to Brooklyn NY in pursuit of the American Dream. After discovering that dream is indeed dead the label set out to release, advance and support ʻoutsiderʼ albums and artifacts with reckless abandon.
Fire Talk is extremely psyched to announce a new distribution partnership with Redeye. To celebrate weʼre offering a 10% discount on all titles through January including the recent releases below. Please check out our entire catalogue on our website and hit up your sales rep for more details ! www.firetalkrecs.com
Erasers - Stem Together FTK065 LP $15.99 UPC: 634457714717 Erasers are a Perth Australia based duo. Weaving hazy psych swirls, churning rhythm and pastel vocals into dense grooving floral compositions. Recalling a variety of our favorite 'slow psych' influencers. Vibes like Pocahanted or early Peaking Lights filtered through the Outback and set adrift. Patience is a virtue and they have it, wrapped up and flowing. After releasing a string of EPs since 2009 "Stem Together" is Erasers first proper full length and first release for Fire Talk. “ritualistic pop” - Noisey
“Purveyors of the Underground since 2008”
Dreamcrusher – Hackers All of Them Hackers FTK070 CS $6.99 UPC: 634457714847 The debut Fire Talk release from Brooklyn, NY by way of Wichita, KS based noise artists Dreamcrusher. Crawling out of the depths of mid aughts Myspace DIY culture 'HAOTH' sees Glass making moves toward melody in a way wholly unique to the project. This self described NIHILIST QUEER REVOLT MUSIK transcends the internet and is truly best experienced immediately and with open mind and body. “sits on your chest and demands your attention.” - Pitchfork
Advaeta – Death and the Internet F5TK053 LP $15.99 UPC: 634457714915 Advaeta is the collaborative project of Brooklyn based musicians Lani Combier-Kapel, Amanda Salane and Sara Fantry. With a complex sound that is heavily melodic, loud and textural, they grind velvet harmonies and lush noise into a landscape that is both evocative and wholly enveloping. “Death and the Internet” marks the culmination of a 6 year collaboration and is the band’s debut LP. . .."it is a jagged knife chased by a soothing balm." - Pitchfork
Woodsman – Woodsman FTK040 LP $15.99 UPC: 634457715011
After releasing their 1st two records with Mexican Summer and Lefse records Woodsman’s 3rd and self titled LP is a return home to the band’s own Fire Talk label. Heady circular guitar patterns, kraut & tribal drums mixed with a gallon of acid, this is truly the band’s most realized output to date. “It’s Thomas Hobbes on a vision quest..” – Pitchfork “grounded in that eternal, invariably highway friendly motorik pulse” – The

AOIFE O’DONOVAN IN THE MAGIC HOUR “O’Donovan has a fragile heart-melting voice and is a fine songwriter” ★ ★ ★ ★ - Mojo Magazine
AOIFE O’DONOVAN In The Magic Hour STREET DATE: 1/22/16
Aoife (pronounced EEE-fah) O’Donovan’s debut solo album, Fossils, was released to critical acclaim and ended up on many “Best of 2013” lists from outlets like NPR Music, American Songwriter, New York Magazine and No Depression, among others. Aoife appeared on A Prairie Home Companion, NPR’s Weekend Edition, SiriusXM The Coffee House and The Village. President Obama even exposed himself as a fan by including the track “Red and White and Blue and Gold” on his first official Spotify playlist in the summer of 2015. Since it’s release, Fossils has sold more than 22,000 copies worldwide, and Aoife is poised to break through with her new album, In The Magic Hour. The songwriting process for In The Magic Hour coincided with the death of Aoife’s grandfather, at age 93. She remembers him as a “gentle soul” in the small Irish village of Clonakilty where he lived. The lyrics on In the Magic Hour are infused with a sense of loss and mortality’s dark certainty. But the album is just as much an ode to Aoife’s joyful childhood visits to Ireland. Aunts, uncles, grandparents and flocks of cousins would gather at the Clonakilty seaside to swim in the chilly ocean and sing together in the lingering Irish summer twilight. Aoife had not yet performed many of the songs live before arranging and recording them over the course of three sessions in Tucker Martine’s (The Decemberists, Neko Case), studio in Portland, OR. “The whole recording process was really Tucker [Martine] and me taking these songs and building them from the ground up,” Aoife says. The result is deliberate but not over-done, the freshness of the material intact. While “In The Magic Hour” rekindles the creative partnership with Grammy-nominated producer Martine, the album also highlights the fruits of Aoife’s various career collaborations. Composer Gabriel Kahane, New York’s string quartet Brooklyn Rider and musician Chris Thile all lend musical and vocal support, as well as I’m With Her band members Sara Watkins and Sarah Jarosz, plus many more.

CD Album Digipak Cat #: Slang50088 Retail Price: $14.99
In January 2016 Tindersticks will release their new album ‘The Waiting Room,’ a milestone not just numerically, but musically and creatively. Their first studio album since 2012’s critically acclaimed ‘The Something Rain' (8.1 Pitchfork, 8/10 the Quietus, 4/5 Guardian, 4/5 Uncut) is the most ambitious, diverse and elaborate album you’ll have heard from Tindersticks in recent years. 2 decades into their musical voyage Tindersticks, established masters of restraint and poetic human emotion, are a band now confidently making the best songs of their career. Breathing gravity, ‘The Waiting Room' features guest appearances by Jehnny Beth of Savages and a particularly poignant duet with long time friend of Stuart Staples and Canadian legend, Lhasa De Sela. Not just an album but also an elaborate collaborative artistic project, each track is accompanied by a short film, each one a visual interpretation by it's own director. Featuring the work of Christoph Girardet, Pierre Vinour, Claire Denis, Rosie Pedlow and Joe King, Gabriel Sanna and others. NO EXPORT (SOUTH AMERICA EXPORT OK) TRACK LISTING: Simply put, Tortoise has spent nearly 25 years making music that defies description. While the Chicago-based instrumental quintet has nodded to dub, rock, jazz, electronica and minimalism throughout its revered and influential six-album discography, the resulting sounds have always been distinctly, even stubbornly, their own. It’s a fact that remains true on The Catastrophist, Tortoise’s first studio album in nearly seven years. And it’s an album where moody, synth-swept jams like the opening title track cozy up next to hypnotic, bass-and-beat missives like “Shake Hands With Danger” and a downright strange cover of David Essex’s 1973 radio smash “Rock On” sung by U.S. Maple’s Todd Rittman. Also included is the bittersweet, honest-to-goodness soul ballad “Yonder Blue,” sung by Yo La Tengo’s Georgia Hubley. “We’d finished the track and decided it would be good to have vocals on it,” recalls McEntire. “Robert Wyatt was our first choice, but he had just retired and politely said no. We were discussing asking Georgia to do something, but not that track in particular. Then we realized it would totally work.” Throughout, the songs transcend expectations as often as they delight the eardrums. Tortoise, comprised of multi-instrumentalists Dan Bitney, John Herndon, Doug McCombs, John McEntire and Jeff Parker, has always thrived on sudden bursts of inspiration. And for The Catastrophist, the spark came in 2010 when the group was commissioned by the City of Chicago to compose a suite of music rooted in its ties to the area’s noted jazz and improvised music communities. Tortoise then performed those five loose themes at a handful of concerts, and “when we finally got around to talking about a new record, the obvious solution to begin with was to take those pieces and see what else we could do with them,” says McEntire, at whose Soma Studios the band recorded the new album. “It turned out that for them to work for Tortoise, they needed a bit more of a rethink in terms of structure. They’re all pretty different in the sense that at first they were just heads and solos. Now, they’re orchestrated and complex.” As ever, Tortoise has conjured sounds on The Catastrophist that aren’t being purveyed anywhere else in music today. There’s a deeply intuitive interplay between the group members that comes only from two decades of experimentation, revision and improvisation. And at a time when our brains are constantly bombarded by myriad distractions, The Catastrophist reminds us that there’s something much greater out there. All we have to do is listen.

Tortoise’s self-titled debut was originally released in 1994. This re-issue is pressed on high qualtiy virgin vinyl, re-mastered by Roger Seibel at SAE Mastering, and packaged in a chipboard jacket with insert and free download card. A very limited supply will be available on opaque brown vinyl. Tortoise’s self-titled debut incorporates many musical styles and influences and combines them into one very distince sound. So distinct that sometime after the release of this record they became recognized as the leaders of a new musical movement. Tortoise exploits the recording studio, in that they utilize the recording process as a compostional tool or “sixth member”, thus creating a boundless parameter in which to create music.
Millions Now Living Will Never Die is Tortoise’s second album, originally released in 1996. This reissue is pressed on high quality virgin vinyl and packaged in a jacket and inner sleeve both featuring spot UV printing and a free download card. A very limited supply will be available on translucent blue vinyl. The majority of the album’s material was first conceived during an idyllic 10-day retreat in Northern Vermont, where the group were able to explore their ideas in a setting that fostered introspection and inspiration. Recording commenced immediately upon returning to Chicago at both Idful (now defunct) and the then new Soma Electronic Music Studios. Millions... was the first studio recording to feature David Pajo who filled the position vacated by Bundy K. Brown in late 1994.

TNT is Tortoise’s third studio album, originally released in 1998. This re-issue is pressed on high quality virgin vinyl and packaged in a tip-on gatefold jacket with spot UV printing and free download card. A very limited supply will be available on white vinyl.

TNT builds upon the spare, instrumental framework of the group’s first, self-titled album, and the extended edits, melodic adventures, and klangfarben of the subsequent full-length release, Millions Now Living Will Never Die. Further to this, Tortoise’s interest in the possibilities offered by the remixing of tracks was realized within the actual production of TNT; individual elements, sections, or sometimes whole compositions mutate within the album’s shifting framework. These techniques were suitably realized thanks in part to the use of non-linear digital recording and editing methods, the first example of such work for the group.

Standards is Tortoise’s fourth album originally released in 2001. This re-issue is pressed on high quality virgin vinyl with artworked inner sleeve, custom silkscreened PVC outer bag, and download coupon. A very limited supply will be available on red vinyl with white splatter. The tunes on Standards are direct and immediate, yet they maintain the exploratory edge that has always characterized the group’s output. The fusion of instrumental sounds (electric, acoustic, and synthesized) is subtle and subversive. Similarly, the group’s fluency within the studio environment gives the finished work a quality that alternates between artifice and reality. It’s All Around You is Tortoise’s fifth album, originally released in 2004. This re-issue is pressed on high quality virgin vinyl and packaged in a jacket and inner sleeve both featuring spot UV printing and a free download card. A very limited supply will be available on translucent yellow vinyl. Written largely in the studio, It’s All Around You was crafted over the course of a full year, and allowed Tortoise the use of John McEntire’s Soma Electronic Music Studios in serving not just as a state-of-theart recording facility, but as a compositional tool as well. It took months of continuous writing, recording, tinkering, mixing, and perfecting to bring It’s All Around You to it’s finalized state. The results of this process are clear in the lush, orchestrated tones, intricate melodies, and densely elaborate rhythms. Beacons of Ancestorship is Tortoise’s sixth album, originally released in 2009. This re-issue is pressed on high quality virgin vinyl and presented in an old-style tip-on gatefold jacket with artworked inner sleeve and free download card. A very limited supply will be available on clear vinyl. A characteristic Tortoise album is one that traverses an encyclopedia of styles and reference points, a document of where musical intersections and dialogue are occurring at a given moment in time. Beacons of Ancestorship is no different, with nods to techno, punk, electro, lo-fi noise, cut-up beats, heavily processed synths, and mournful, elegiac dirges. We see these ideas working out in compositions like “High Class Slim Came Floatin’ In,” an eight-minute track which playfully references the world of ecstatic rave and dance culture with a curiously ambivalent, multipart suite overlaid with robotic, machine-sounding melodies that stop and start in several different time signatures before the song’s ultimate resolution; and again in “Yinxianghechengqi,” which begins as a straightforward uptempo math-rocker before steadily accelerating into a wall of fuzzy atonal sqwonk.

TRICKY ANNOUNCES SKILLED MECHANICS FEATURING DJ MILO & LUKE HARRIS
Tricky embraces change. He keeps on moving; keeps on switching up a gear; keeps on mutating… keeps on evolving. It’s what keeps him vital as an artist. After moving to Berlin early this Spring, he immediately started work on a new musical project called Skilled Mechanics. In his trademark husky West Country burr, the Bristol born musician, producer and rapper explains where the name came from: “It’s from a documentary about espionage. There was an ex-C.I.A. agent on this programme speaking about assasTRACKLISTING 01 / A1 I'm Not Going 02 / A2 Hero 03 / A3 Don't Go

sins who were sent abroad by the US to start revolutions and topple governments. He called them ‘skilled mechanics’. I thought that was a great name for someone who was a killer basically. The name was so dark and cynical it just stuck with me.” Skilled Mechanics is the statement of a true original British talent - one who will never coast on his former achievements and will always keep on changing and adapting to face the future.

A K A S E GR A S P E R S !K7 is proud to announce Graspers, a debut album from UK live and studio duo, AKASE, aka Harry “Midland” Agius and Robbie Redway. Their album was recorded over the course of two years in Harry’s studio in South East London. Both members of the group had equal input, putting to good use their respective backgrounds and influences, in the end coming up with something new, fresh and absorbing. With a helping hand from legendary producer and studio wizard Ewan Pearson of Kompakt Records association, this album has come together naturally, at its own pace, with no outside pressures, and that really shows. At just 44 minutes long, Graspers is all about capturing emotions and brief moments in time, and it does that expertly. TRACKLISTING
Kicking off with the broody, swelling ‘Adrift,’ the album unfolds through glitchy beats and pained vocal lines on ‘Rust’ before tracks like ‘Beseech’ de-humanise Redway’s vocals into fractured organic textures. Percussion ranges from crisp and sharp to slick and uplifting and Redway’s voice takes on many different forms. At once pained, at other times carefree, it lends a compelling edge to the variously frazzled, floating, staccato and sombre drums and synths that frame and drive each track. This is a timeless album that stands up to intimate headphone listening, but it also works for post break-up nights in and emotionally laden post club afterparties. With live shows also in the pipeline, Graspers is sure to resonate across 2016.

There is a particular magic that comes from finding the right musical pairing. We’ve all experienced the perfect song at the perfect time and know how electrifying it can be. The set and setting that combine to make those jukebox choices, mix tapes or playlists really work can be so hard to define but easy to identify once they are out there in the wild. Part of the fun in Three Lobed Recordings has always been trying to divine the alchemy of pairings that work to our ears. These efforts have time and time again taken the form of collections and collaborations, both as multi-volume releases (ranging from a trio of multi-disc CD series to the Not The Spaces You Know, But Between Them 4xLP box set) and single albums (such as the collaborative albums from Golden Gunn or the Hagerty-Toth Band to the Eight Trails, One Path compilation). With this in mind, Three Lobed is proud to present Parallelogram, a collection of five carefully assembled split albums celebrating complementary musical pairings. The pairings contained within the Parallelogram collection take a few different forms. Whether the artists are kindred spirits, former touring partners, and/or folks that have mutually inspired one another, the material on each side of each of these records feeds naturally into the other. On whole the artists collected as Parallelogram serve as a sort of reflection of the genres and styles found across the entirety of the Three Lobed catalog. The Parallelogram collection consists of the following five albums: -‐ -‐ -‐ -‐ -‐
Hiss Golden Messenger / Michael Chapman Six Organs of Admittance / William Tyler Kurt Vile / Steve Gunn Thurston Moore & John Moloney: Caught on Tape / Alan Bishop – Bill Orcutt – Chris Corsano Bardo Pond / Yo La Tengo

SALES POINTS - New, unreleased and exclusive material from Kurt Vile, Yo La Tengo, Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Steve Gunn, William Tyler, Bardo Pond, Six Organs of Admittance, Hiss Golden Messenger, Michael Chapman, Alan Bishop (Sun City Girls), Chris Corsano, and Bill Orcutt. - Press coverage within Pitchfork (a glowing 8.4), Uncut, Magnet, Aquarium Drunkard, Doom and Gloom From The Tomb and more. - Each LP pressed on 140 gram Dutch vinyl and housed within ornate and unique multi-colored letterpressed “matchbook” jackets (with download). Art/design by renowned graphic artist Casey Burns. Letterpress printing by Dexterity Press. - Sold as a pack of the five different LPs but each LP can be sold a la carte. - “Parallelogram presents a constellation of explorers, separately ferrying the same enthusiasm and openness that have animated Three Lobed’s very catalog.” Grayson Haver Currin, Pitchfork
Each album consists of never before released material compiled especially with this collection in mind. Each LP is housed within a letter pressed “matchbook” bearing new original artwork by Casey Burns and printed by Dexterity Press. A couple of years in the making, this collection represents a celebration of this label’s improbable fifteenth anniversary. It seemed appropriate to assemble an equally improbable project to celebrate the milestone.

PRESENTS
About Bilal is an artist who needs little introduction to fans of neo-soul, and his ever-growing following must surely be among the most loyal and supportive in the scene. To know Bilal is to love him, so ever since his new album was announced on npr.com with a taste of first single 'Satellites', expectation has been running at fever pitch. More grounded and earthy than 2013's 'A Love Surreal' (also on BBE), ‘In Another Life’ was made in collaboration with eclectic producer and composer Adrian Younge. Although Bilal's soul and jazz chops are clearly evident here, there is also an underground indie undertone running through many of the tracks, complete with agonised vocal acrobatics worthy of Thom Yorke. In fact, if Prince & Radiohead had made an album together, well, it would probably make a lot less musical sense than this does. From opening track ‘Sirens’ the lyrical subject matter of the album provides a timely and human reflection on the confusion and paranoia of modern life, asking Marvin’s age-old question, ‘What’s Going On?’ Heavyweight guest appearances come in the form of Def Jam’s Big K.R.I.T., who provides a brilliant verse on the fun, 80’s boogie inspired ‘Pleasure Toy’. Man of the moment Kendrick Lamar spits lyrical fire on frenetic anthem ‘Money Over Love’, while the brilliant Kimbra turns up on languid, sensual soul/jazz gem ‘Holding It Back’.

While cycling around his home-district of Peckham (in southeast London) a few years ago, Sean O’Hagan decided that not only would the new High Llamas music be driven by narratives, a collection of stories, but they would first have to be performed as theatre; reshaped theatre, if you like, blending stories, songs and soundtrack. It was essential for these performances to take place before the songs and underscores were recorded. The resultant piece, Here Come The Rattling Trees, introduces six characters, some real, some less so, whom Sean has encountered over past years in Peckham. It is also The High Llamas new LP. Here Come The Rattling Trees was first performed in the Montpelier Theatre pub in Peckham in June 2014, and in October 2014, it played for a week-long run at the Tristan Bates Theatre in Covent Garden, London. The original performance cast was: Ray Newe, Richard Heap and Jennifer Scott Malden. The story centres around Amy, an unsettled 28-year-old with a desire to travel. She finds herself in Peckham Square working in temporary employment publicising the rebranding of the local leisure centre. Peckham Leisure is to become Step Tempo and will pass from public ownership to private management. While leafleting in the square Amy encounters five characters, who, it transpires, have their own stories to tell. These stories have emerged from Peckham over the past 25 years and speak of buildings and change; of hopes, ambitions and disappointments. This is the soundtrack to those stories. With witty, artful musical strokes, Sean and The High Llamas have crafted deft musical sketches with the signature “Llamas” sound that has evolved over ten album releases since 1992. A colorful array of electric, acoustic, and synthetic instruments, alongside Sean O’Hagan’s gentled vocals, are deployed to transport the listener to the low-key highs and lows of the British working week — an incisive, sympathetic view to the wonders slipped in between the pages and too often passed over in everyday life.

Each Other
Aidan Knight hails from Victoria, the biggest city on Vancouver Island, off the shore of British Columbia. Knight has been making music since his teens and releasing music since 2010. Although the name Aidan Knight belongs to the individual, the records have been a collaborative effort between himself and his band; a collection of classical music nerds, jazz aficionados, and experimental musical wizards. On the new album, Each Other, the collaborative spirit remains strong but the vision is solely that of Knight. Aidan enlisted Marcus Paquin (The National, Arcade Fire, Local Natives) to produce the album. Together they succeeded in piecing together the raw energy of their live show and the layered textures that could only be captured in the studio. Lyrically, Knight’s penchant for astute observations and personal reflections remains a compelling component of his songwriting, as previously witnessed on 2012’s acclaimed album Small Reveal. The record ably demonstrates Knight’s evolving musical depth, highlighting both the band’s sonic exploration and Aidan’s ability with a subtle melody, while the emotional weight running throughout the record should satisfy the most discerning listener and bring Knight’s work to a newfound prominence. Selling Points • “Aurally on the same plain as aspects of early Sufjan Stevens but altogether more majestic” - Noisey • Publicity and Radio Promo campaign behind this priority release • Video premiere for “All Clear” on Noisey, video for “The Arp” coming soon • North American Tour planned for Spring 2016 • Produced by Marcus Paquin (The National, Arcade Fire, Local Natives)

THE I DON’T CARES Wild Stab
Street Date: 1/22/2016 UPC: 634457713628 Label: Dry Wood Records Item # CD-DRYW-001 SRP: 14.99 Export Restrictions: None Box Lot - 30
The I Don’t Cares? A quartet of adrenaline fueled nihilist? Not this time...it’s just two adults making adult songs about (mostly) adult things. Fortunately the two adults are Paul Westerberg and Juliana Hatfield...so your best guess on how this will sound is probably pretty spot on. These are songs that will rock and roll you in both comfortable and uncomfortable places. Like getting cozy with a rock in a hard place. “Wild Stab” is new and exciting music from people that you already have a relationship with. It is something that you are going to care about.
Highlights: It’s Paul Westerberg and Juliana Hatfield! Distribution:

JAMES HUNTER SIX SOMETHING’S CALLING b/w TALKIN’ BOUT MY LOVE DAP - 1 0 9 4 A/B Within the House of Soul, the Daptone Staff is affectionately referred to as “The Hate Crew,” a name they have earned from their years of ruthless evisceration of anything which doesn’t meet their impossibly idealistic expectations. Armed with rolling eyes and barbs of sarcasm, they are the tr ue guardians of the Daptone Sound. The problem is, this new James Hunter single has turned them all into adorable little kittens. They spend all day mewing to the ballads and scampering about to the uptempo cuts instead of selling records. In an effor t to save the company, label Boss Neal Sugarman declared a “Hunter Free Zone,” but when he tried to pr y the test pressing of Hunter's latest single from the office turntable and replace it with something a bit more hate-able, the needle slipped and dropped back into the grooves of “Something’s Calling,” irreversibly morphing him too into a small playful kitten. Meow, James Hunter. Meow.

CARAVAN PALACE
<I°_°I>
At long last, Caravan Palace’s third album <I°_°I> is available on LP, <|º_º|> (a.k.a. Robot or The Icon) contains 11 songs filled with pure joy, enthousiasm, and the kind of music that makes you shake your body uncontrollably. Created in their Parisian studios, where the electropioneers fuse hedonistic house and old school jazz to glorious effect, <I°_°I> evokes the spirit of a modernistic Quintette du Hot Club de France. The musical sound bed for the vocally explosive, burlesque-blazoning Zoe Colotis is created by the band’s three founder members Hughes Paven (violin), Charles Delaporte (upright bass) and Arnaud Vial (guitar), plus Camille Chapelière (clarinet) & Antoine Toustou (trombone and electronics) over the beats provided by Paul-Marie Barbier (vibraphone, washboard, piano). The result is a decadent, potent cocktail of jazz manouche, hiphop, jive, house and beats that defies simple categorisation but brings everyone together. The band’s appeal has grown steadily fueled by their musical virtuosity and their sheer ability to deliver a ballistic good time. Released on October 30th, the album ‘s CD and digital versions have not left the top 20 of the Dance / Electronic charts in the US. Now comes the LP, just in time for the band announcement of their upcoming 20 city US tour in May & June, as well as new single Wonderland.

'Nothing' is Kode9's first solo album and is about nothing. The album throws horror soundtracks, sampled library and jpop records into a no man’s land between grime, early dubstep and Chicago footwork. Mostly instrumental, it zigzags between hypnotic, downcast loops, growling drones, and jagged cut-ups of androids gone haywire, threaded through twitchy, transatlantic rhythms and sub-bass inaudible through your laptop speakers. Building slowly, but more upbeat than previous albums, many of these tracks have more in common with Kode9's recent singles from the last few years than they do with his two previous albums with collaborator The Spaceape, 'Memories of the Future' (2006) and 'Black Sun' (2012). Yet 'Nothing' is haunted both by The Spaceape's presence (he died in 2014 after a prolonged battle with cancer), on ‘Third Ear Transmission’, a communiqué from a zone of digital immortality, and his absence, on 'Void’, whose spaces were originally intended for the vocalist, and ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’, which closes the album with a 9 minute silence. Now confirmed for release as a double-LP, the initial run will be a limited edition pressing on glass-effect translucent vinyl, housed in a high quality gatefold jacket and inner sleeves displaying Optigram’s remarkable artwork to its fullest effect. Also included is a complimentary mp3 download code. A1. Zero Point Energy A2. Notel A3. Void A4. Holo B1. Third Ear Transmission ft The Spaceape B2. Zero Work B3. Vacuum Packed B4. Wu Wei C1. GUT NOSE
ESCAPE THE MATRIX January 22, 2016 New York City's grittiest returns from the underground with a new batch of polluted grooves. Gut Nose follows 2014’s acclaimed Vicetopia 12” and Filthy City album / mixtape with Escape The Matrix, a fivetrack EP showcasing yet again how versatile in this city’s styles the man can be. "Moon Lasers" and digital bonus track "Crafty Gambit" follow El-P and Edaan's footsteps, instilling throwback hip hop with 21st century ooze. "Ten 18" and. "Enjoy Thy Flesh" offer Gut’s increasingly signature take on coarse house, while "Drifting To Parts Unknown" melts rough, rugged and raw techno into a pool of filthy calypso percussion. Escape The Matrix drops January 22, 2016 on Styles Upon Styles in 12” and digital forms. Both purchases include the bonus track, “Crafty Gambit”.

STUDIO ONE SHOWCASE The Sound Of Studio One In The 1970s
Street Date: 22nd January 2016
No shipments outside of North America
Studio One Showcase brings together a new fine selection of classic tracks from Horace Andy, Freddy McGregor, Johnny Osbourne, Lone Ranger, Sugar Minott, The Heptones, Wailing Souls and other seminal reggae artists all recorded at Studio One in the 1970s. By the start of the 1970s, Clement Dodd’s Studio One record label was at a crossroads. The previous two decades had given the producer and record label more success than most aspired to in a lifetime. From the mid-‐1950s on, the Downbeat Soundsystem had conquered all opponents – from Duke Reid to Prince Buster – and shaped and led the musical landscape of the dancehall. In the 1960s, the establishment of Studio One Records at 13 Brentford Road in Kingston, Jamaica, had led to a Ford Motors-‐esque production line of hits that similarly defined reggae music. But the 1970s was to prove Clement ‘Sir Coxsone’ Dodd’s most challenging and yet ultimately the most creative decade of all. Like the most zealous and resourceful of pioneers, Studio One was about to embark on a stunning era of reinvention, adaptation, stripping down and versioning, each step of which marked new musical developments in reggae music – roots reggae, deejay, dancehall, rub a dub and more. This album presents an overview of this exciting and ground-‐breaking decade of the 1970s at Studio One, during an era where, despite challenges from new producers, political turmoil, and almost constant musical and technological innovations in reggae, Clement ‘Sir Coxsone’ Dodd was able to maintain his position as the pioneering leader in reggae music, and to maintain Studio One is the number one sound in reggae music. Always.

PRESENTS
About Scotland’s foremost (possibly only) disco obsessive returns with a fourth volume in the critically acclaimed Disco Love series. Previous volumes had critics saying things like “Some of it is risqué, cheesy and (may I say) sexy. Great stuff for us disco-geeks” and “A real gem for the disco connoisseurs” and “This will enhance any deep disco collection” and “the ever-reliable Glaswegian crate digger unearths even more dusty gems” and “Just when you think that Al Kent guy is not going to get you again, he assembles a third Disco Love that is more stimulating than the first two volumes” and, less excitingly, “The mastering and sound quality is great”. So, just when you think that Al Kent guy isn’t going to get you again, here he is - with fifteen more obscure disco tracks (or at the very least soul records you could dance to), most of which were pressed in limited quantities before sinking without trace, including five very special edited and extended versions and a DJ mixed second CD.

The follow up to 2012’s well-received self-titled album, Infinite Summer sees main man Michael Lovett joined by Charlotte Hatherley (Bat For Lashes, Ash) and Sarah Jones (Hot Chip), to create a record that marries sci-fi futurism to personal intimacies. Since NZCA Lines’ debut record, Lovett has honed his skills in the studio with Christine & The Queens and touring as part of Metronomy's live band. The record unfurls through brooding, sensual beats, dazzling synths and melancholic vocals that take you on a different journey on every track. Whilst ‘Infinite Summer’ and ‘Do It Better’ focus on the idea of an enlarged sun that would bring us joy and terror, there are glimmers of Michael’s personal life running throughout such as standout single ‘Two Hearts’ dealing as it does with long distance connections maintained via satellites and fibre optic cables. Infinite Summer’s hyper melodicism sees NZCA Lines explore stellar new territories that position them as one of 2016 most enticing and rewarding prospects.

FÓRN- WELTSCHMERZ 12” Life is misery, and suffering, and sadness. To give yourself to the darkness and to your weariness, to accept universal dread, is to find solace. Fórn is the sonic manifestation of this dread. From its beginnings in 2013, the shadow of this Boston-based doom quintet has grown long and menacing.
ARTIST: TITLE:
Now Fórn returns with a new 12” EP, Weltschmerz, which from German translates to a feeling of world-weariness. Contained within are two new compositions, “Saudade” and “Dolor,” each presented in two movements with a total run time of twenty-three minutes. This is the first new material from Fórn since its debut LP, The Departure of Consciousness, released on LP in 2014 by Vendetta Records and on CD in 2015 by Gilead Media.
FÓRN WELTSCHMERZ
The suffocating darkness is far more evident within these new songs as Fórn channels its will to create cavernous wells of sludging doom atmosphere. Each passage intermingled with merciful moments of melody and beauty. These sounds seem to spring from the depths of the human mind, born from a place of grime and filth where no light can go.

YELLOW EYES- SICK WITH BLOOM LP With two full lengths and a handful of splits & EPs, Yellow Eyes have honed their distinctive black metal style: unpredictable, narrative-driven compositions that shift fluidly between melodic fanfare and unsettling dirge. The guitars and drums rage like a passing storm, with short moments of respite before the oncoming surge. Their new album, Sick With Bloom, encloses the listener beneath a canopy of atmosphere and mood that hangs without interruption until the album’s closing moments. This is enhanced by the inclusion of numerous field recordings captured during the album’s production at an isolated cabin in the northern woods of Connecticut. You can feel the surrounding wilderness seeping through into the music. A sound elevated by the vibrations of ancient growth and echoes of nature’s power.

KRALLICE - YGG HURR LP 180G Rarely does a creative group come along that wields both the capability to perform technical music and the skill to compose elaborate works that the listener can easily connect with. Since 2008 Krallice has been the definition of such a group. After an incredibly prolific period, releasing its first four full-length albums within five years, Krallice left us with a time of relative silence. From August 2012 to September 2015 there were few live performances and there was no recorded output. When, without warning, their fifth full-length album Ygg huur was unleashed with no formal announcement or PR marketing push. The album was quietly posted to the Krallice bandcamp page and a link was provided via social media.

Ygg huur reveals a new face to Krallice. Not only is it the shortest full-length in the band’s discography, clocking in at 35 minutes, but also is it a departure from the black metal influence which Krallice heavily founded its sound upon. And although its familiar and unique style is very much still present, the song structure reveals more insight into the technical aspects of the collective members’ other projects. There is the subtle death metal influence from Nick McMaster and Lev Weinstein (on bass and drums, respectively) reminiscent their work in Geryon and Astomatous. Those elements fit perfectly alongside the intricate guitar interplay of Mick Barr and Colin Marson. Barr of course as a part of Orthrelm and his numerous, well-document solo and collaborative projects. While elements of Marston’s work in Behold… the Arctopus and his own Indricothere appear to sneak into this new Krallice material. Even though this new path may at first come as a surprise to some, it is evident that the compositions on Ygg huur are very distinctly and truly Krallice. The LP is packaged in a single sleeve jacket with printed inner sleeve, and presented on 180 gram black vinyl. A download code is included with the LP purchase.

Vinyl limited to 500 copies. In an ocean of rock music aloofness, manufactured coolness and glittered naivety, Singapore Sling are one of the few truly teenage-hearted bands that can make some serious noise and get your hips shaking like it’s 1955. Formed back in 2000 in Reykjavik by Henrik Björnsson who is also a founding member of Dead Skeletons. Since then the group has created a legacy of music described by Drowned In Sound as being ‘at the forefront of the new psychedelic explosion long before its current wave of popularity went stratospheric,’ and are cited as an influence by many of the bands operating in the scene today. Today the five-piece continues to ride the darkest waves of rock ‘n’ roll with Psych Fuck. The album was originally planned to be released as Part II to their 2014 release The Tower of Foronicity. However during its inception it became more like an evil twin than a comrade, which is evident from the opening track “Dive In,” a Suicide-like nightmare spiced up with horror piano riffs. The Singapore Sling sound combines the shambolic rituals of The Cramps, the apocalyptic neon landscapes of Suicide and the devilish cacophonies of White Light White Heat, which their latest offering continues to deliver. Dive In, Let It Roll Let It Rise, ÆJL, Na Na Now, Try, The underground, Dying Alive, Give Me Some Other, Astronaut, Shithole Town, The Tower Of Foronicity

Limited to 1000 copies. After causing seismic shifts in the underground earlier this year with their debut album Neither Virtue Nor Anger, Sonic Jesus are back with a limited edition 7” featuring a brand new track, and remix by Sonic Boom aka Pete Kember from Spacemen 3 and Spectrum. On Side A the remix of “Locomotive” maintains the track’s beautiful abstract vocals which evoke some kind of religious ritual or perhaps a lonely lament. The song is then propelled into the heavens as the band crashes in and Sonic Boom’s psychedelic treatment takes effect. The B side, “Never In My Mind”, starts off like a call to arms full of violence and energy, and continues its rampage pace like an adrenaline shot to the heart. Side A: Locomotive (remixed by Sonic Boom) Side B: Never In My Mind
