“Lee is compelling throughout, a commanding shouter and seductive crooner with charisma to burn.” — Mother Jones “Lee was perfectly at ease stretching the boundaries of his music to encompass the sounds of the world at large.” — NPR Music High Moon Records presents the 1974 studio album from one of rock music’s most gifted and enigmatic legends—back on vinyl after 40 years! Reel To Real captures Arthur Lee and Love at the peak of their rock/funk/soul powers. Originally released in 1974 on RSO Records, this deluxe reissue features over 74 minutes of vibrant, remastered audio from the original multitrack tapes, a 32page booklet with an illuminating essay by Rolling Stone’s David Fricke, and a trove of candid, unpublished photos. What Arthur Lee began on Love’s Black Beauty (released by High Moon to wide acclaim in 2013), he brought to fruition on Reel To Real. Armed with a major label budget, and a powerful, intuitive band, he dug deep into the blues, soul, and rock grooves that first inspired him, reaching out to a new audience with his fierce and forward-thinking personal vision. To a palette of stinging guitars, explosive brass, deep funk bass and clavinet, splashes of spacey synthesizer, and dream-team female backing vocals, Arthur Lee brought his funkiest and most soulful collection of songs, and channeled the most visceral vocal performances he ever committed to tape. High Moon Records has unearthed 11 revelatory, previously unreleased tracks from the original sessions — including alternate takes and mixes, live-in-studio rehearsals, and 4 newlydiscovered Arthur Lee originals! This ultra-rare bonus material fills out the picture of a fearless, agile and very funky ensemble, led by a masterful singer-songwriter at his feral, exultant best.

TIFT MERRITT BRAMBLE ROSE VINYL RE-ISSUE

US AND CANADA: FEBRUARY 19, 2016

Bramble Rose, the debut album by Tift Merritt, celebrates its 14 year anniversary with a deluxe re-release on limited edition vinyl, featuring reimagined artwork. Don Henley recalls of its title track, “I’d wanted to record that song ever since I heard it”, before releasing the song on his 2015 album Cass County (featuring guest vocalists Miranda Lambert and Mick Jagger). “There was so much sweetness in that time, something pure in making a first record. We were so excited to be in the studio together, to be in Los Angeles — everything was ahead and everything was happening for the first time. When I think of how all the miles I’ve seen began with this little seed, it gives me a great deal of hope. I could tell you 1,000 tender stories from those days. But maybe that is what those songs are.” - Tift Merritt

GENRE : ELECTRONIC FILE UNDER: “M” Matmos RELEASE DATE : February 19, 2016

NO EXPORT (AUSTRALIA, SOUTH AMERICA EXPORT OK) TRACK LISTING: Ultimate Care II is the new album from renowned conceptual electronics duo Matmos (Drew Daniel and M.C. Schmidt). Recorded in the basement studio of their home in Baltimore, the album is constructed entirely out of the sounds generated by a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II model washing machine. Like its namesake, the album runs across its variations as a single, continuous thirty eight minute experience that starts with the grinding turn of the wash size selection wheel, and ends with the alert noise that signals that the wash is done. Between these audio-verité book-ends, we experience an exploded view of the machine, hearing it in normal operation, but also as an object being rubbed and stroked and drummed upon and prodded and sampled and sequenced and processed by the duo, with some occasional extra help from an ultra-local crew of guest stars (some of whom regularly do laundry chez Matmos). Dan Deacon, Max Eilbacher (Horse Lords), Sam Haberman (Horse Lords), Jason Willett (Half Japanese), and Duncan Moore (Needle Gun) all took part, either playing the machine like a drum, processing its audio, or sending MIDI data to the duo’s samplers. The vocabulary of the Ultimate Care II, its rhythmic chugs, spin cycle drones, rinse cycle splashes, metallic clanks and electronic beeps are parsed into an eclectic syntax of diverse musical genres. The result is a suite of rhythmic, melodic and drone-based compositions that morph dramatically, but remain fanatically centered upon their single, original sound source. Like their promiscuous DJ sets, the palette of genres in play reveals Matmos’ hybrid musical DNA: Industrial music, vogue beats, gabber, Miami bass, free jazz, house, krautrock, drone, musique-concrete, and new age music all churn up to the surface and are sucked back into the depths. In this moiré pattern of textures, the listener encounters elements that sound like horns, kick drums, xylophones or sine waves, but in fact each component is meticulously crafted out of a manipulated sample of the machine. In other hands, such relentless conceptual tightness would court claustrophobia. Happily, Matmos’ willingness to transform audio and engage pop structure bypasses arid, arty thought exercises and produces instead their signature effect: abject and unusual noises yielding weirdly listenable music. Also available from Matmos : The Marriage of True Minds CD/2xLP (Thrill 316) The Ganzfeld EP CDEP/12”EP (Thrill 315) Also available from The Soft Pink Truth : Why Do The Heathen Rage? CD/LP (Thrill 368)

01. Ultimate Care II (38:09) SALES POINTS In addition to releasing a string of acclaimed albums over the past 20 years, Matmos have played the uterus and reproductive tract of a cow at the San Francisco Art Institute, canisters of helium at Radio City Music Hall while opening for Bjork, and John Cage’s personal collection of conch shells at Carnegie Hall Matmos have also collaborated and performed with Terry Riley, The Kronos Quartet, Antony Hegarty, William Basinski, and Horse Lords Ultimate Care II features guest appearances from fellow Baltimore musicians Dan Deacon and members of Horse Lords, Half Japanese, and Needle Gun Matmos will tour throughout the world in 2016 The album announcement was met with unimanimous excitement and covered by People, TIME, NBC News, Pitchfork, SPIN, Flavorwire, and more Full press campaign being worked by New York PR firm Blake Zidell & Associates Three videos will be serviced: one made by Baltimore musician Max Eilbacher (Horse Lords, Needle Gun), one by infamous collage artist/ plunderphonic cut-up wizard Vicki Bennett (aka People Like Us), and one by Ed Apodaca of San Francisco motion graphics firm L-inc, who created the “Very Large Green Triangles” video for Matmos’ last album LP pressed on virgin vinyl and packaged in a heavy stock jacket with full color inner sleeve and free download card. A limited supply of the LP will be pressed on “clean laundry” (blue with white swirl) color vinyl. CD version in digipack with 8 page booklet The artwork for the album is constructed entirely out of photographs of the Whirlpool Ultimate Care II machine shot in its natural habitat and then digitally manipulated by New York artist Ted Mineo. Both members of Matmos are active solo musicians, Schmidt under his own name, Daniel under his Soft Pink Truth moniker “The ability to draw a sharp outline around the unfamiliar, to draw definition from abstraction, is something Matmos excel at” Pitchfork “Matmos doing what they do best, pulling together theory, humor, and killer compositional chops into music at once intense, playful, and uncannily coherent” - SPIN

THE BODY & KRIEG COLLABORATION

AT A LOSS RECORDINGS - AAL045

ARTIST: The Body & Krieg TITLE: The Body & Krieg LABEL: At A Loss Recordings PR: Earsplit PR FORMAT: :LP w/LP Digital Download, FORMAT CD, w/download CAT# : Cassette w/AAL045 Digital Download, & GENRE : METAL CD RELEASE DATE : February 19, 2016 CATALOG #: AAL045 GENRE: Metal RELEASE DATE: Nov. 13th 2015 NO CD EXPORT TO EUROPE OR UK

LP : $18.99 LPLIST LISTPRICE PRICE:$17.99

Formed in mid-1990's and late 1990's respectively, KRIEG and THE BODY met in the mid 2000's, being different sonically but sharing a bleak world view and inspirations musically far outside of the genre of metal. When NEILL JAMESON (sole constant member of KRIEG) showed up to MACHINES WITH MAGNETS with only a acoustic guitar and a few pedals, members of THE BODY knew the collaboration would be something really different. Written and recorded during the long sessions of both Christs, Redeemers (THRILL JOCKEY) & I Shall Die Here (RVNG), the end result is a blackened industrial crush of noise and anguish. Noise, dirge, triggered percussion w/ Kings screeches and Jameson's growls take the audience to the BOTTOM OF THE BOTTLE, BOTTOM OF THE RIVER. Crawling booms, chimes, roars, and moans to static plodding low-end and hopelessness moves to industrial tones, accusing roars. Erie keys, wails of misery lead to brief period of sonic chaos and pure madness. Madness leads the listener lumbering down the final path, complete with discordant percussion, electronic beeps, forlorn screams, cavernous blows, and ending in the sounds of the otherworldliness! The whole package is completed by the amazingly realistic charcoal drawings and design of Jason Bartell (also of FANG ISLAND fame). Expect both bands to have busy tour schedules in 2015 / 2016 plus plans for a collaboration tour!!!

JOHN LEE HOOKER THE GREAT... John Lee Hooker was the blues personified. The potency of his music, the longevity of his career and his relentless drive elevated the Delta blues to electrifying new altitudes. Late in life, he enjoyed four Grammy awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, appearances at Madison Square Garden, an album that sold more than a million copies (1989’s “The Healer”) and induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

These twenty six classic recordings from the late 1940s and early ‘50s ably demonstrate the majestic artistry which kept him at the blues forefront for the next five decades. This is stuff that profoundly altered the course of popular music, anticipated rock & roll and inspired generations of guitarists to reach out for a chance at conjuring one small shred of the almost mystical, downright hypnotic and profoundly compelling blues truths that came so easily to John Lee Hooker.

most depraved grooves, his own unique voice and stream of conscious musings infuse expertly sought-out samples for music that is decisively alive and authentic. Across 75 minutes and 30 tracks, Moodymann does not disappoint: despite being a notorious vinyl fetishist, Dixon’s aim is to present music of quality, not to one-up fellow collectors. Rather than serving up ridiculously rare or hard-to-find records, he instead focuses on creating a libidinous, blues-drenched mood that takes in heart-breaking soul, gorgeous hip-hop and love-fuelled house. In addition to cuts from his own creative circle, the mix features 11 exclusive Moodymann edits. About

We are both proud and excited to present this highly sought after early 80's gem, originally created as a showcase project for young artists and composers by a community music organisation in Texas. Originally referred to as the 'Pop Music Lab', The People’s Workshop was formed in 1976 at Texas Southern University as a space for students to compose and perform, free from the constrains of Western classical music education. Swiftly gathering momentum, in 1980 the organisation was granted non-profit status and in 1983, moved off the TSU campus. The Workshop has since grown in size and scope, becoming the first Black-founded organisation to present shows in major performance venues around the Greater Houston area. Houston Talent Expo '82 features original compositions by members of The Peoples' Workshop, performed exclusively by musicians from Houston. The songs vary in style, but remain centered around gospel, funk and soul; music and lyrics with a powerful positive message. Many of the artists featured remain active today around the world, working with such acts as Alice Coltrane and The Charles Mingus Band among others. Houston Talent Expo '82 comprises a truly special collection of songs born from the struggle, true to the spirit of togetherness that underpins The Peoples' Workshop, written and performed by astonishing young talents. Key selling points: • Highly sought after collector's item reissued for the first time • 180 gram heavyweight vinyl pressing • The LP Features the talents of Nigerian legend Richard Asikpo

Soul Jazz Records Presents

NEW YORK NOISE Dance Music From The New York Underground 1977-1982

Street Date: 19th February 2016 No shipments outside of North America

This is the new 2015 edition of Soul Jazz Records’ long out of print first New York Noise collection, Dance Music From The New York Underground 1978-82.

Tracklist

New York Noise is the story of the intersection between experimental dance music and art in downtown New York. This ground-breaking release gave rise to a series of three albums featuring the likes of Snatch, Glenn Branca, Rhys Chatham, Sonic Youth, Ut, Jim Jarmusch and many more downtown figures as well as a deluxe photography book that featured everyone from David Byrne to Madonna (now out-of-print).

1. The Dance - Do Dada (3.06)

This new 2015 edition features classic New York post-punk, punk funk and no wave tracks from Arthur Russell/Dinosaur L, James White and the Contortions, The Theoretical Girls, Mars, Konk, Material, Bush Tetras, Lizzy Mecrier Descloux as well as new tracks by Alan Vega (Suicide), Chain Gang and Implog.

5. Mars - Helen Fordsdale (2.28)

Original Reviews

2. The Contortions - Contort Yourself (4.20) 3. Theoretical Girls - You Got Me (3.52) 4. Konk - Elephant (4.16) 6. Dinosaur L - Clean On Your Bean #1 (6.33) 7. Chain Gang - Son of Sam (3.11) 8. Arto / Neto - Pini, Pini (2.23)

“One of the most satisfying archival collections is Soul Jazz’s 2003 compilation New York Noise 1978-1982” pitchfork 8.1 "New York Noise is exemplary: the right mix of 'hits' and obscurities” WIRE "It feels like one big loft party, even when it veers into psychotic, dissonant No Wave” ROLLING STONE “An impressive sampling of the New York underground scene from the late 1970s and early 80s, including cuts from "no-wave," post-punk, experimental and hip-hop artist.” Metascore "A collection of tracks ranging from the classic to the utterly obscure, New York Noise is one of those rare compilations that actually conveys the sense of a viable community, one in which the sharing and development of ideas takes precedent over trivial things, like, y'know, getting a major label contract or something. Each band sounds like one part of a larger puzzle, a continuation and combination of lines of escape threaded through the early Eighties New York scene. Played start-to-finish, New York Noise begins to cohere into a joyously multi-hued mass, where hip-hop is a natural cousin of atonal noise, where minimalism becomes the perfect complement to funk” Stylus

9. Bush Tetras - Too Many Creeps (3.59) 10. Alan Vega - Bye Bye Bayou (8.32) 11. Mars - 3E (2.49) 12. Konk - Baby Dee (6.00) 13. Lizzy Mercier Descloux Wawa (2.20) 14. Material - Reduction (5.24) 15. Bush Tetras - Can't Be Funky (2.41) 16. impLOG - Breakfast (3.28)

Rangda! They planted a False Flag in the blood-soaked turf of the contemporary rock-politik. They were Formerly Extinct before you ever even THOUGHT about giving it up for good! Now, five years since ascending to collective Rangdadom, the flower-plower trio are back in your phase! This time around, Rangda strikes The Heretic’s Bargain for you — but have a care, foolish listener; not only is it an offer you can’t refuse, this here’s a deal you can’t repeal! Ever since Sir Richard Bishop, Ben Chasny and Chris Corsano banded together, the supergroup moniker has stuck in Rangda’s collective craw. We only meant: gee, what a super group! It’s boss stuff, kids! But whatever, and what’s done is done — The Heretic’s Bargain takes a nail gun to that idea’s coffin and buries it ALIVE, firmly reinforcing Rangda as a band with a shared intuition, instead of the sum of three separate (though insanely great) parts. After years of recording and touring together, Bishop and Chasny’s guitar playing has mutated via some kind of lateral gene transfer of their musical DNA, and the rhythms ridden by Rangda feel mutually funded (though Corsano’s beat-making is as finelined and rawly inspired as ever). With The Heretic’s Bargain, it’s harder to tell who wrote what, and Rangda (and you) is better off for it. The Heretic’s Bargain takes territories that Rangda explored on their first two albums — the abraded fury and free forms off False Flag and the serpentine Rang-dang-doodle songatechture from Formerly Extinct — and evolves them further into a grand unified I-know-I-don’t-know-what-it-is(but-I-like-it) development in music. The Heretic’s Bargain is the sound of Rangda — and, without getting all rock-opera on you (but a little AOR, to be sure), The Heretic’s Bargain is best taken as a whole, from the initial locked-down snare/ guitar strafing and tension-rattling choruses of “To Melt The Moon” to the side-long “Mondays Are Free at the Hermetic Museum.” Lots of ground is covered, but it’s all part of the same earth. Until you fall off the edge in the end. Further informing Rangda’s unity are the recording-mixing-mastering team of Jason Meagher and Patrick Klem, both of whom worked on Formerly Extinct . For The Heretic’s Bargain, both are back again behind the controls — at a safe distance from the band, naturally!

JUST HOLD ON O HOW DO I LOVE YOU MONKEY BRIDGE SPEND ALL YOUR LOVE MISSIONARY IS IMPOSSIBLE

Husband and wife team Johnima and Kalassu Wintergate are Lightstorm: globetrotting musical collaborators retransmitting messages of love from their teacher and Avatar Sathya Sai Baba. Since 1973, the Lightstorm discography has been issued under a variety of aliases (Creation Earth, 33 1/3, Teeth) unknown to all but the most obsessed vinyl casualties. Insofar as the irrepressible J&K are known at all, it’s for their twisted, ridiculously entertaining 1982 shot-onvideo horror-comedy classic “Boardinghouse.” (See this movie!) The ever-unpredictable Drag City / Yoga Records now present the first-ever Lightstorm collection. “Creation” fuses the best tracks from the spiritual concept double LP “Who Am I: One” (1977) and sensual glam rock killer “33 1/3” (1980, recently featured in the “Enjoy The Experience” private press book). Eleven pieces of riveting catchy, psych-glam-weirdness, “Creation” captures both sides of Lightstorm. Soar with ‘Let Your Astral Body Fly’, and rut with ‘Missionary Is Impossible.’ To say that there’s nothing else like Lightstorm would be an understatement, but their natural clear underlying love energy is unmistakable. Experience “Creation.”

In the band’s own words: Though fame was often within close reach for Lightstorm, it never materialized on the world stage. The Divine Energy as Creation had a different plan. Their natural clear underlying love energy, which was mostly due to Johnima’s and Kalassu’s deep personal inner quest for absolute Spiritual Truth and unconditional Love, always vibrated thru all musical renditions and it made the executives unsure since they always worried about the bottom line, ‘Lightstorm’s DOLLAR value.’ The “Creation Earth” album (which was just too far ahead of its time) got a lot of late night airplay but it seemed that its Spirituality Concept was not quite understood by the average record buying public. The “33 1/3” album became a turntable hit on various radio stations all over the world, but the actual record sales in the US were very slow; probably due to the sensual overtones, which strangely enough, the Corporate, Government and Religious establishments could not control. Lightstorm continue to perform and travel the world sharing love and light to remind everyone that we are all-powerful Divine Beings and you too can share light and love wherever you are.

There's a certain risk some of you are already overfed, with the Paradise Goulash still piping hot on the stove…but anyway, here it goes… I've known Joakim (Mr. Smalltown) professionally for quite a few years now and I've worked on many projects for him, mainly doing remixes like Nissenenmondai, Lindstrom, Alf-Emil Eik, Idjut Boys and so on.

A couple of years ago he asked me to consider doing an album for him. At the time I was busy concentrating on gathering material for what would become my 2nd album (Prins Thomas II) on my own label Full Pupp and I was not entirely friendly to the idea of giving away my solo material to somebody else's label. However, the possibility of doing something different seemed an option but at the time I had no “different" in mind and I generally try not to force ideas. Then, roughly a year ago an Instagram-post and a recommendation of a posthumous release by Swedish producer Joel Brindefalk(RIP), sparked an idea. I likened his release under the moniker Ü’s Doobedoo Dub’e'dope (on the Börft label) to KLF's "Chill Out” and The Orb's "Peel Session EP". That had Joakim and me enthusing about those early 90's “electronica" releases. Black Dog's “Spanners" needs a mention as well, still a firm favourite around the house. So I set off on the task at hand, making an “ambient" album, leaving conventional drums and drum machines out of the equation. Time flew by, album more or less done. Then I propose to Joakim we get the whole album remixed by somebody else, in its entirety. However, fuelled on Los Planes coffee and inspired from all the unused bits, alternative versions and outtakes I have, I remixed the whole album myself before anybody else could. So that's basically it, a few tracks loosely inspired by the “braindance" of the 90's and it's themes and components reworked into slightly more “danceable" counterparts. The song "titles" refers to the sides of the vinyl version. Matching tracks up with their melodic partners is up to the listener. How you listen to this album is entirely up to you but I'd recommend finding center position in front of your speakers, a comfortable couch or chair and dedicate yourself to the music for a long hour. Thanks to Perro Della Costa of Zihuatanejo for the album title!

INFORMATION:

Traditional Synthesizer Music is a collection of songs created and performed live exclusively on the modular synthesizer by Aaron Funk. Each sound contained within was created purely with the modular synthesizer. No overdubbing or editing techniques were utilized in the recordings on Traditional Synthesizer Music. Each song was approached from the ground up and dismantled upon the completion of it's recording.

The goal was to develop songs with interchangeable structures and sub structures, yet musically pleasing motifs. Many techniques were incorporated to "humanize" or vary the rhythmic results within these sub structures. An exercise in constructing surprises, patches interrupting each other to create unforeseen progressions. Multiple takes were recorded for each song resulting in vastly different versions of each piece.

SKYLAR GUDASZ OLEANDER FEBRUARY 19, 2106 BIO: A native of Ashland, Va., Gudasz started playing flute at age 5. Her brother taught her to play guitar in elementary school, and she began learning piano on her own a few years later. "With guitar and piano, I was too impatient with authority to listen long enough to learn how to properly play, so I worked my own way through them." Such individualism helped shape her distinctiveness as a songwriter from the outset. Gudasz studied theater and creative writing at the University of North Carolina, then stuck around in Chapel Hill and Durham post-college after connecting with some of the area’s most promising young musicians. Early work with the likes of producer Jeff Crawford (Old Ceremony) and bassist Casey Toll (Mount Moriah) resulted in the 2011 EP “Two Headed Monster” and a follow-up of B-sides. Together, they served notice of a major new voice in the N.C. Triangle’s music community. It didn’t take long for renowned Chapel Hill producer Chris Stamey to also be drawn to Gudasz’s flame. Shortly after his ambitious Big Star Third collective began playing tribute concerts to the legendary Southern pop band at special events around the country and overseas, he brought Gudasz aboard, introducing her to a cast that included Big Star drummer Jody Stephens, R.E.M.’s Mike Mills and the Posies’ Ken Stringfellow. From Barcelona to Sydney to London, audiences flocked to hear marquee cameos from the likes of Jeff Tweedy, Cat Power and Ray Davies, but they often came away wowed by Gudasz’s turns in the spotlight. “Although she was unknown to the Big Star Third’s audiences, she'd sing a song such as ‘Thirteen’ or ‘Dream Lover,’ and her wonderful voice and unique phrasing quickly captured their attention,” Stamey remembers. The result is “a very honest portrayal” of the artist, Stamey says. “This record doesn't shout at you, like those radio divas; it reveals itself best in the wee small hours of the morning. If you make a space for it, it will reach out to you.” - Peter Blackstock TOUR: Regional promotional touring in the Southeast in February, and East Coast tour supporting Mount Moriah in March. The Lord Is A Woman OVERVIEW: Berlin based duo Africaine 808 will release their debut album “Basar” via NY imprint Golf Channel (home to Mark E, Juju & Jordash and DJ Nature) in January next year. “Basar” pushes their divine blend of West African bass and rhythms, disco, island-funk and house to newer heights. Their deep and timeless debut is about “Freedom and Freedom only” and is an album that reaches for the party Arthur Russell was talking about when he said “I wanna see all my friends at once.” Africaine 808 are Dirk Leyers, formerly one half of Closer Musik, and Berlin DJ and established artist Nomad. The pair met in Berlin at the city’s annual summer techno demonstration Fuckparade in 2000, where they caught the infamous “Techno Viking” scene live as it unfolded. Nomad got his first drum aged 6 years old, from a church collective yard sale. Now an avid collector of African influenced musical styles, from South African Shangaan to Westafrican Funk, his rhythmic quest has lead him to study and explore African and world music for almost 3 decades. The Africaine 808 project grew out of Nomad’s Vulkandance parties; a melting pot of African, Latin, and Caribbean club music. The title “Basar” comes from the ancient term for “oriental marketplace", a place to experience a multitude of impressions with your senses. Like an exotic marketplace, “Basar” is filled with different sights and sounds around every corner. From the deep and mystical “NGONI” which takes West African music to the rave with wobbling bass and hints of 90s ethno-dub to the killer squirmer of a bassline on “Language of the Bass ft. Alex Voices” which keeps things heavy but nimble whilst recapturing UK bass histrionics. The smokey, soulful tones of OFRIN on “Ready For Something New” offers a mystical downbeat gem. Whereas “Basa Basa” takes it back to the dancefloor for a sweaty rhythmic number that bounces off the walls with it’s tribal funk groove. Recent 12” single “Rhythm Is All You Can Dance” also makes an appearance; wedding funk, earthy rhythms and frenzied African grooves to the gurgle of an 808. The duo made their debut back in 2013 with “Tummy Tummy”; which featured on Will Speculators W.T. Recordings compilation "DJ MUSCLE." The following year Golf Channel put out "Lagos New York." Pairing New York flecked disco with West African bass and rhythms, "Lagos New York" made for one of 2014’s most essential electronic releases.

OTHE

Having found the right home with one of the best labels (and parties) in New York City, the Berliners debut album “Basar” has the feeling of an essential piece of music all over - a big, brooding, emotional and uplifting record that you can dance, laugh and cry to.

TRACKLISTING

“Florida – where your dreams go to die, but the dead walk…” News stories coming out of Florida are often so bizarre and difficult to believe that they have spawned games like Late Night with Seth Meyers’s Fake or Florida, where the host shares an absurd news bit and has audience members guess on its validity. Florida Man Threatens Life of Drunken One-armed Mexican Chop Shop Operator for Leaking Hazardous Fumes into Adjacent Recording Studio. Florida Man Accidentally Feeds his Dreadlocks to a Dog Named Gandhi. Florida Man Enlists Honey Boo Boo Director for Latest Southern Rap Video. None of those headlines ever made it to Fake or Florida, but they are all true stories. And they all involve a FL rapper by the name of Bleubird. Somewhere between the tropical beaches, pockets of culture-starved boredom, retirement communities, and bath salt cannibals, lies a small community of DIY artists playing the hands they were dealt and trying to build something in the void. Bleubird is one of these people.

Born to an immigrant father and hippie mother in South Florida in 1982, Bleubird (Jacques Bruna) developed an early affinity for 2 Live Crew and Public Enemy and eventually gravitated towards skating, fighting, and punk rock. Bleubird has released several full-lengths and EPs both as a solo artist and with groups such as Triune Gods and Les Swashbuckling Napoleons, hosted open mics and warehouse parties in Florida bringing together creative folks from multiple disciplines, and traveled the country in a decked-out van for two years turning every day into an impromptu concert-cypher-party with his FREEEBIRD project. After stints living in Canada and Europe, Bleubird returned to the states to release his Fake Four debut Cannonball!!! and shortly thereafter began channeling his Floridian roots into a bass-heavy crew known as Death Jam Posse, writing his verses under the alias of Young Lauderdale and rapping hard as hell over beats from a local producer by the name of Mister Belvedere. 2015 saw the release of his stoned side project FTLiENS alongside producer Numonics, properly paving the way for the ever-evolving Bleubird’s new full-length Lauderdale. Recorded at Audio Architeks studio after the city kicked Bleubird and Belvedere out of the Broward County warehouse where they had been living and mapping out the record, Lauderdale splits the difference between the escapist party rap of Young Lauderdale and the introspective, nuanced narratives that Bleubird has been churning out since the turn of the century. Produced entirely by Mister Belvedere, the album features guest shots from fellow Florida natives Astronautalis (“FL AS FUH”) and Pompano Slim (“LAUDERDALE SQUAD”) as well as NYC rap duo Swag Toof (“$ALT LIFE $HAWTY”). Over 12 relentlessly upbeat Belvedere bangers, Bleubird goes back and forth between laidback, simplified patterns and a ferocious, rapid-fire delivery to suplex his critics and muse on his place in hip hop, love for his hometown and uhhh… NPR. His passion, humor, and technical rap skills have coalesced into the most accessible album of his 15-year career.

Part Two of Fhloston Paradigm (aka King Britt)'s beautiful Cosmosis EP series starts with the haunting broken techno of 'Nimoy' ; bass line and subtle piano gently modulating over scissoring drum machines and dubbed out claps, the switches in rhythm and the layers of chugging drums catching you off beat. The track builds into a heart-tugging melody, the drums breaking up under it's force. 'Return' is a pure analogue brain massage of a track, a deep space exploration of undulating arpeggios and shimmering emotive notes. 'The Hour' finishes the record ; slow building waves of melody and chords, shimmer and swell, the repetition and addition of a mournful bass line consolidate the emotional energy of the track.

End of Love - Ghosts on the Radio Street Date: 2016-02-19

Overview: End of Love is a collective of musicians brought together to bring to life the compositions of Jay Deegan, Irwin Menken and Jody Stephens. The project began when Jody and Irwin met in Europe, Jody was touring with his band Big Star Third and Irwin was on the road with Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth. A year later they joined forces and added New York City based guitarist Jay Deegan. The music reflects their love of straight up Big Star influenced pop songs, the alt- country feel of bands like Uncle Tupelo and add the art rock/noise elements practiced by Sonic Youth and others. Their forthcoming album “Ghosts on the Radio” incorporates all of these elements and draws upon friendships with and admiration for the talented group of musicians who joined them in making this record.

February 5th 2016 will see UK-based production duo Letherette release their first new music since 2013's selftitled debut album on Ninja Tune - a record that cemented their place at the forefront of the UK's perpetually shifting electronic underground. Returning from an extended studio interlude, the Refresh EP wastes no time getting down to business, collating four powerhouse trax aimed squarely at the dancefloor and blessed with the signature warmth, soulful character and loping swing that lies at the heart of Letherette's appeal. Simultaneously recalling the certified classic output of early 90s NY imprint Henry Street (Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez, Armand Van Helden, DJ Sneak) and the instantly addictive grooves of Pepe Bradock, Motor City Drum Ensemble and Joey Beltram, Refresh is a startling comeback and signal of intent for 2016.

His first output since mid 2014's Spectre Vex 2x12" - the 2 tracks 'Second Sight' and 'Ritual' are reflective of a shift to a more machine-sounding approach. Lead track 'Second Sight' is a stark, paranoid banger lurking in menacing "cold wave" territory, whilst on the flip 'Ritual' layers minimal, mechanical percussion with gently arpeggiating synth lines. Two expertly crafted cuts from a producer at the top of his game, with more new music on the horizon.

The results are an ever present body of slow churning psychedelic folk that wouldn't be so surprising in your hippie dad's record collection or buried deep in the crates of the headiest record store. “Pet Sounds era hallucinogens... slow, feel-good folk fit for those lazy summer evenings.” - Stereogum “While they're also heavily influenced by the flighty baroquepop style of The Beatles and The Beach Boys, Murals shakes off the dust of the ʼ60s and walks confidently towards the ʼ70s .” – The Fader “ A calming trip of a fogged night imposing itself on the brain.” .” – IMPOSE Magazine LP – FTK-074 LP SRP - $15.99

They have been working steadily and very focused on Heart of Akamon for over a year and took a small break to put t ogether a live band for their debut performance at the first ever Hammerheart Brewing Co’s Winterblot Fest which happened late in 2014 (which will be released on DVD soon by Bindrune). Heart of Akamon is the bands most emotive and aggressive material to date, while not losing site of their acoustic roots. These songs awake an old spirit in the listener to gaze back in time and feel the struggle and pride of this countries persecuted and indigenous people. Track Listing: 1. The Serpent Tradition 2. The Impending Winter 3. Lost on the Trail of the Setting Sun 4. October 6, 1813 5. Traversing the Shades of Death 6. Skimota 7. Skyhook 8. Kiselamakong What the critics are saying: “Once again, Nechochwen have knocked us over with their power, intensity, and passion, as “Heart of Akamon” sounds like a history lesson they actually lived through themselves. These eight songs are a reach back to the past, to a simpler time technologically, yet a place where the struggles were possibly greater than they are today. That fire and journey are alive in this record, and these are songs that feel like they’ll settle even closer to the heart once colder winds come and we try to find places to stay safe and warm.” -Meat Meed Metal “The care and emotion that this album was crafted is evident, as everything flows together naturally. Nechochwen’s discography has been really good thus far, but Heart of Akamon elevates the band onto a whole new level. An amazing mixture of folk/black metal and neofolk with tinges of doom and atmospheric grandeur, Heart of Akamon will likely go down as one the genre’s greatest triumphs. This is an album that is not to be missed and will be gracing many a year end best of lists. “This is one of the most enthralling and exquisite pieces of music I’ve heard in a long time. In a way this is the Native America version of Bathory‘s Hammerheart, and a lot of the atmosphere I loved on that classic platter is here as well, but with vastly superior musicianship. This will appeal to metal fans of almost any stripe and it’s one of the best albums you’ll hear this year. Do not miss this one!” 4.5/5 -Angry Metal Guy

'Autumn Eternal' is an incredibly well-composed album by the multifaceted artist A. Lunn. It is a deep and soulful journey which reflects on a seemingly eternal quest of this talented and kind-hearted individual, steeped in sadness and beauty. Autumn Eternal is a beautiful work of art created in the sign of melancholy and in which the metal genre is interwoven with other traditional music styles, forming one of the most captivating, illuminating and honest metal albums in 2015. Panopticon is the model example of what American black metal can accomplish, and the legacy it can embody.” -Noisey “Beginning with the lush instrumental “Tamarack’s Gold Returns” and ending with the somber “The Winds Farewell,” Autumn Eternal is a marvel of emotionally charged, multilayered, natureworshipping black metal in the style of Winterfylleth and Mantle-era Agalloch.” 9/10 -Decibel “There is much to be absorbed in this hour-long work, much to be discovered with each listening session, much to be appreciated as you peel back the music’s many layers. Wilt Title: Moving Monoliths RELEASE DATEDate: : February 19, 2016 Release Available LABEL : Bindrune Recordings CAT# BR-033 Recordings Label: Bindrune FORMAT : CD (digipak) GENRE : BR033 Black Metal/Doom Cat #: CD List Price : $15.99 Format: Digipak UPC : 7-98576-83782-2 Wholesale Price: $7 this item is non-returnable File Under: Black Metal/Doom No Export Restrictions Barcode: 798576837822 Overview "Moving Monoliths" is a crushing feat that has been labored over for quite some time. By digging deeply inward, the songwriting core of this band has dredged the mournful depths of the self to unveil a unique glimpse into the human condition, for all its faults, heartbreak and despair. The results are impressive as Wilt skillfully unveils a wide range of emotion and atmosphere on these 4 lengthy tracks to effortlessly entwine the creative forces of black and doom metal to call their own. A fierce live entity in their own right, Wilt has broken the "studio project" mold to bring this quintet's jarring sound and fire to the masses as they recently completed a Canadian Tour. Moving Monoliths is a fantastic debut full-length and we at Bindrune are proud to share this crushing entity with you all. Track Listing: 1. Illusion of Hope 2. Moving Monoliths 3. The Elder 4. Solitude What the critics are saying: “Despondent and glorious, Wilt play music that doesn’t lack for bite or venom, despite the fact that they know how to foster mood and atmosphere. Here, the two go hand in hand with a Blackened spite that seems to coast along the seas of guitars like a predator looking for prey.” -Wonderbox Metal “To feel and address sadness and despair is human, and Wilt have provided a tremendous piece with “Moving Monoliths” that proves digging down into your deepest self can have rewarding results. Things don’t have to result in war and bloodied scalps all the time, and it’s great to have a band like this that can offer volume and heaviness but also a place to find solace.” -Meat Meed Metal “The quintet is adept at fostering a bleak mood via rich dynamics and depressive, shrieking vocals; this is black metal more aligned with the Cascadian style due to its ebb/flow dynamics and the conjuring of a despondent atmosphere. For a simple comparison, Wilt has more in common with now-defunct San Francisco project Weakling or Calgary post black metal act Numenorean than the primal ferocity and cold tremolo picking of the second wave European lineage of the genre.” -Beatroute

Points of interest: - Moving Monoliths is Wilt’s debut full-length, following up their acclaimed s/t MCD/LP - Stunning cover artwork by Nick Keller - Theme of MM deals with the personal struggle that is depression - Excellent production to highlight meloncholy and melody contained in Wilt’s colorful sound - Through all the darkness and despair, hope does arise! - LP coming early 2016 from Bindrune

Macdonald also cites the inspiration of fellow Glasgow-based composer Malcolm Lindsay who, like Francis, did not formally study classical music. The album was recorded at Mogwai’s Castle Of Doom studio, Glasgow (because Francis liked their piano) and features a quartet drawn from the esteemed Scottish Ensemble, formed in Glasgow in 1969. It was recorded and mixed by Iain Hutchison (Julie Fowlis, Transatlantic Sessions) and mastered in Milan by Stefano Barzan (Ludovico Einaudi). Francis played piano and a celeste hired from RSNO. The album cover photo was taken at Hardanger Fjord, Norway during a Teenage Fanclub tour.

“This album was a bit of a challenge to myself”, says Francis; “As a listener I came quite late to classical music and I have no formal training, but I didn’t want to use an arranger or orchestrator. I wanted to be responsible for every note.” OTHER ACTIVITY: www.francismacdonald.com

FOR HOW MUCH LONGER DO WE TOLERATE MASS MURDER?

IN THIS TIME OF PROXY WARS AND FALSE FLAG ATTACKS AS WORLDS COLLIDE NOW, MORE THAN EVER IS THE TIME TO SAY AGAIN HOW MUCH LONGER DO WE TOLERATE MASS MURDER? Long out of print, this will be the first time the highly sought after album has been reissued, let alone made available digitally or on CD. Originally released in March 1980 on their own Y label through Rough Trade, For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder? spent 20 weeks in the Indie charts, peaking at #1.

The Pop Group singer and lyricist, Mark Stewart says: “Context is crucial. At the time The Pop Group were playing multiple rallies and benefits across Europe from Scrap SUS to Aid for Cambodia to our final blow out at the 500,000 strong Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament rally in Trafalgar Square.”

Produced and mixed by the band, For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder? represents the quintessential independent Pop Group album untethered, entrenched and completely committed to challenging the political orthodoxy of the day and savagely denunciating its failings.

Declared a “revolutionary, anti-imperialist manifesto” by Mark Paytress (MOJO, Record Collector, Rolling Stone), the album has been celebrated by Uncut as one of the 50 Greatest Lost Albums.

His ongoing collaborative work with Novo Amor has been praised by NPR and The Line of Best Fit, and had over 1 million Spotify plays. None of that prepares you for Fiancé, though – a rich, epic and ambitious first record. The vast scope he demonstrates on this album – ranging from skittering R&B beats to dream pop keyboards, all held together by waves of Ed’s towering falsetto harmonies – is clearly the work of a refined creative spirit. He creates often huge, often hushed, gloomy landscapes, dripping in glistening darkness. “Saint” and menacing lead-single “Malignant” are beautifully crushing synthesized centerpieces, whilst the more organic “Posturer” and the cascading “Ply” are flooded with swells of densely layered soaring vocals, as poetically intricate as they are affecting. It also doesn’t sound quite like an electronica album, nor a folk record – it’s its own spiralling, consuming entity. The vinyl is a limited pressing of 400 180g black vinyl with white splatter with a printed inner sleeve and the album CD in a printed card wallet inside. 1. Irredeemer 2. Malignant 3. Posturer 4. A salute to the great, almost extinct art of rock and roll fun. Featuring members from some of Oslo's rock underground most respected bands like The Good The Bad And The Zugly, Lonely Kamel, Backstreet Girls, The Mormones. KBT (Kosmik Boogie Tribe) is a five piece Norwegian rock and roll group. Suck More Piss is a tour de force punk and roll road trip seen through the eyes of an 18 year old pimpled and troubled boy.. Suck More Piss is an all live analog recording, completed in one and a half day. The mixing process was also done "live. Fuzz Club’s excavation of the underground has yielded another stellar discovery in coldwave duo Throw Down Bones. Their debut album is 8 tracks of instrumental electronica born from experimentation which dances between minimal rhythms and industrial soundscapes, shadowed by repeating riffs and persistent beats that got the crowds dancing at Psych Fest and the Fuzz Club Festival, London. To create this album, the band’s experimental creative process saw them locked away in their alpine studio for a weeklong jam session, which was harvested for sounds, riffs and effects, from which they built the final tracks.. Their mix of infectious beats and the raw energy of live rock n roll make Throw Down Bones a great act to watch and a dark and modern definition of coldwave. 1. Exposure 2.
