NNA051: Oneohtrix Point Never / Rene Hell Split LP/Digital NNA’s second split LP unites two American artists on the cutting edge of experimental electronic music: Brooklyn’s Oneohtrix Point Never and Los Angeles’ Rene Hell. Daniel Lopatin and Jeff Witscher have each been working tirelessly in the US underground for the last several years, releasing progressive, forward-thinking, and highly acclaimed music under a wide variety of guises and manifestations. In 2012, we see them each offering their respective unique visions and interpretations of digital music in the modern world, processing the world around us through the lens of technology and modern sound. Oneohtrix Point Never brings us “Music For Reliquary House”, which consists of sonic reworkings from the “Reliquary House” audio/visual installation, a collaboration between Lopatin and video artist Nate Boyce. In a series of five pieces, Lopatin delivers a sequence of hallucinatory informatic assaults, a satirical re-envisioning of modernist sculpture. Picking up where 2011′s “Replica” left off, OPN uses digital technology to dissect human speech patterns and timbres almost beyond recognition. Via computer, Lopatin converts pieces of text to human speech, only to dismantle it entirely, surgically reassembling the scraps of frequencies and the shrapnel of pure sound into something new altogether… starkly melodic at times, but altogether harsh and inhuman as a whole. Rene Hell presents “In 1980 I Was A Blue Square”, a suite of five pieces for piano, synthesizer, and computer. Juxtaposing mid 20th century classical music with chaotic electronic blasts, Witscher creates his own style of contemporary music that is peaceful and violent on top of itself, creating a rift of confusion that sits nicely between more vast, soundscape-like vignettes. Witscher’s previous forays into the worlds of noise and ambient are tastefully apparent here, indicative of an artist who is able to retain a broad array of influences and use them in a way that is both personal and original.

“The beauty of Witscher’s contributions function to offset the challenge of Lopatin’s latest work. For as a package it’s rise and fall, tension and release, harshness and unrelenting beauty. Without the organic warmth of Witscher’s side, Lopatin’s vocal manipulations might have come across as too unwieldy, too formless, too haughty to be revisited with any sort of regularity. The beautiful chiaroscuro of Witscher’s works function to assuage any of the discomfort Lopatin might have brought about. Lopatin and Witscher on two sides of vinyl really never would have worked in any sort of musically homogenous relationship, but as two dichotomous pieces they work better than anyone might have ever imagined.” –Colin Joyce, Beats Per Minute “While OPN might represent some of the most interesting cutting-edge, sample-driven, slightly-beat-oriented-but-not-really-dance-music side of things, we can see Rene Hell at the other side as part of a more classical, musiqueconcrète, compositional school of electronic music. However, by the end of the record, you may not even know what music is at all. –Kmmy Gbblr, Tiny Mix Tapes “Dashed with the violence of chaotic electronics, skilfully juxtaposing the classical with the contemporary. The raw sounds of the synthesiser and computer are exquisitely dispersed into the pacific and serene classical soundscape forming an ambience that is scenic, lovely and tasteful. Both Witscher and Lopatin deliver music that is creative, original and above all personal, creating a view into the listener's individual paradise.” –Rachael Markham, The 405 Oneohtrix Point Never releases new album “Garden Of Delete” on November 13th, 2015 on Warp Records! THE NARROWS WORLDWIDE RELEASE: MARCH 18, 2016
The concentrated nexus of romance, recollection, historic struggles and tragedies,
and peerless craftsmanship – coupled with the hopes, fears, and isolation that acpen Grant-Lee Phillips company transition – formed the backdrop of The Narrows, Phillips’ latest dispatch on Yep Roc Records. Bathed in a woody, warmly reverberating sonic signature, the eer brimming with the album’s thirteen songs are marked by longing and a resolute sense of purpose: 7’s Strangelet, is track As though hurling yourself full-force into the unknown is as sensible as any other more commonly prescribed course. After all, what feels unknown may be residing ican music – rock and just below the surface – should you be willing to dig for it and be open to discovery. “This set of songs,” Phillips observes, “seem to pivot between the personal and gs for a primer on the historical – like a lens, focusing in and out. The Creek and the Cherokee, of which I’m descendent, called this land home before the removal. I’m captivated by the ell of melody is in full stories and the energy here.” The Narrows balances that history with Phillips’ own ost lilting piano ballad severance from his birthplace, his continued journey into marriage and fatherhood, and the passing of his own father. “Moccasin Creek,” delivered by the band with a Angeles’ daringmost sense ofsought space and a vivid, clear-eyed vocal from Phillips, mines those emotional and geographical intersections. “I envisioned myself one day venturing into the Arkansas where my father’s side of the family sprang forth,” Phillips explains. “There’s a part of the river down by the old family home known as the Narrows – the unfriendly part where cluding land the ofcurrent hisand try to not to be pulled under. Folly & The Hunter Awake Folly & The Hunter’s third album, Awake, was recorded at Toronto’s Revolution Studios in the summer, and was produced and mixed by Howie Beck (Hayden, Feist, Barenaked Ladies). Written primarily while touring across North America and Europe, Awake sees the band growing from their folk foundations into a polished pop aesthetic. For band members Nick Vallee, Christopher Fox and Laurie Torres, heartbreak and loss haunted the delicate music on their acclaimed sophomore album Tragic Care. Touring Europe and North America for 2 years in support of the album, the band experienced a much-needed catharsis and embraced an optimistic outlook - the spirit of which is clearly evident on Awake. Reflecting on the joys and struggles of life as full-time musicians, songs like “Small Victories” and “Arrow” show the band’s clarity and dedication. On quieter album-closer “Science”, the bare instrumentation and humble lyrics explore emotions of commitment and the struggle with mundanity in day-to-day-life. The recording sessions also solidified the full-time role of long-time collaborator Phil Creamer, an integral part of the group’s live set. Similar to the other members, Creamer’s multi-instrumental talents energized their varied approach to the studio. Selling Points • Awake was produced by Howie Beck (Walk off the Earth, Feist, Barenaked Ladies) • “Arrow” video premiere on For Folk’s Sake • “Awake” Track of the Day premiere online at Clash • Tragic Care earned the band mass acclaim in Europe earning them spots on the BBC playlist and topping charts in Amsterdam • “Awake” peaked at #12 on Canadian National Rock Charts and was #1 at Montreal’s biggest radio station • Have toured Europe and Canada with Half Moon Run TRACK LISTING 1. With two studio albums already under their belt (the last one was given a 4 out of 5 review in Mojo magazine) the band has become one of Europe’s top alternative blues acts, sharing the stage with bands such as Left Lane Cruiser, James Leg, Johnny Walker and Guadalupe Plata, and appearing at both The Deep Blues Fest in Clarkesdale Mississippi, and its counterpart in Germany. Rick Saunders on his Deep Blues blog describes them as “one of the very best of the post - (early) Black Keys/White Stripes-influenced bands… deep dark punk and stylish hard roots music with good popsense and without a whiff of retro poly stink”. Featuring Andrew McGibbon Jr on Vox and guitar, and Chris McMullan on drums.

RELEASE
OVERVIEW
Like many before him, Warp record artist Clark has been tapped by the world of film and television to bring his sound to the series The Last Panthers. The French and English language series stars Samantha Morton and will be premiering in the U.S on the Sundance channel in spring of this year. What listeners will experience on this score is a more fully fleshed out composition of the music in the series. After hearing the final cuts from the series, Clark proceeded to edit and chisel his work, adding in new material as well to create something beyond a conventional score. What we end up with is a cohesive piece that flows between a mixture of seductive, caustic, sombre, euphoric...a mix of emotions to sonically capture the depth and nuance of the series, while also functioning as a beautiful stand alone piece of music.

PUNK 45 Chaos In The City Of Angels And Devils Hollywood From X To Zero & Hardcore On The Beaches: Punk In Los Angeles 1977-81 th Street Date: 4 March 2016 No shipments outside of North America Chaos In The City Of Angels And Devils is the new installment of Soul Jazz Records’ Punk 45 series featuring an array of first generation Los Angeles punk bands including X, The Germs, The Zeros, The Urinals, The Weirdos and many more.
Tracklisting 1.
This is the sixth Punk 45 release on Soul Jazz Records and follows on from the earlier releases covering punk from Cleveland, Akron, UK, USA and proto-‐punk, as well as the book Punk 45 – Cover Art of Punk written in collaboration with Jon Savage.
2. 3.
Unlike the other major cities of New York and London, Punk in Los Angeles was pretty much ignored by the major record industry. As bands sprang up, Los Angeles punk thus also gave rise to a wide range of its own DIY independent record labels.
4. 5.
Los Angeles punk came in two distinct phases. The first Hollywood groups (c.77-‐79) and the birth of hardcore in the surrounding Los Angeles suburbs and beaches (c.1979-‐81) and this album includes music from both periods. Punk 45 LA features music from both phases to provide a fascinating look at underground punk in Los Angeles in its formative years.
6. 7. 8. 9.
Album comes as double gatefold heavyweight vinyl with free download, CD and digital. Comes with extensive notes, cover art and original photography from Jenny Lens.

GENRE : METAL/ROCK FILE UNDER: “B” Body, The RELEASE DATE : March 18, 2016
NO EXPORT (SOUTH AMERICA EXPORT OK) TRACK LISTING: On No One Deserves Happiness, The Body’s Chip King and Lee Buford set out to make “the grossest pop album of all time.” The album themes of despair and isolation are delivered by the unlikely pairing of The Body’s signature heaviness and 80s dance tracks. The Body can emote pain like no other band, and their ability to move between the often strict confines of the metal world and the electronic music sphere is on full display throughout No One Deserves Happiness, an album that eludes categorization. More then any of their genredefying peers, The Body does it without softening their disparate influences towards a middle ground, but instead through a beautiful combining of extremes. No One Deserves Happiness is an album that defies definition and expectations, standing utterly alone. Buford and King are outliers at their core, observing the world as if apart from it. They strive for music without a category. They embody many contrasts. They are open and playful as well as thoughtful and disciplined. Live, they deliver punishing volume and scale with their spare duo set up, expanding their sound through a complex set of effects on both guitar and drums. For records, they approach things entirely differently and expand their group in the studio to include Seth Manchester and Keith Souza from Machines with Magnets (their long-time studio), as well as Chrissy Wolpert of The Assembly of Light Choir. The list of instruments used on No One Deserves Happiness is an unexpected collection that includes 808 drum machine, a cello and a trombone. The band employs instruments in their unprocessed state for the simple beauty of the sound, and then in equal measure push them to their most extreme (for example, the sounds at the end of “The Fall and the Guilt” are created by a guitar and a cello). Because they create an entirely singular sound, The Body is in high demand for collaborations with artists across the musical spectrum, from The Bug to Full of Hell to The Haxan Cloak and beyond. They build albums that are as lush and dense as a rainforest and as unforgiving.

GENRE : FOLK FILE UNDER: “J” Jones, Glenn RELEASE DATE : March 18, 2016
NO EXPORT (SOUTH AMERICA EXPORT OK) Glenn Jones is a master of American Primitive Guitar, a style invented in the late 1950s by John Fahey, whose traditional fingerpicking techniques and wide-ranging influences were used to create modern original compositions. Jones, who led the post-rock ensemble Cul de Sac, brings his own made-up tunings, the use of custom-crafted partial capos, and a highly skilled picking style on both banjo and guitar, to create personal compositions that are lyrical, emotive and elegant. What sets him apart from the myriad guitarists playing today is his ability to tell stories with the guitar and banjo, and to convey a range of emotions. This process starts with the compositions themselves and carries through to his selection of recording environment and engineer. Fleeting was recorded in a house on the banks of the Rancocas Creek in Mount Holly, New Jersey. Cozy, cluttered with artifacts of a life well-lived (by its owner Bill Bolger), the house struck the right note for Jones and his recording engineer, Laura Baird. Jones in particular likes spaces with character that are remote from the day-to-day world. Jones and Baird made no attempt to soundproof the recording environment, happy to let sounds filtering in from the outdoors to become part of the listening experience. One of Fleeting’s underlying themes is the past and the way places and people resonate in our lives. Jones reflects on the brevity — the fleetingness — of all things, while also looking towards the future. “Spokane River Falls,” which Jones calls his “water song,” recalls the all-but-forgotten city of Spokane, Washington, where he was born. “Cléo Awake” and “Cléo Asleep” share the same melodies and the same inspiration — the newborn child of Jones’ friends (the conceit of “Cléo Asleep” is that Jones plays with a mute on the banjo — called The Happy Wife Banjo Mute — so as not to disturb Cléo, no matter where in the world she is!). “In Durance Vile,” one of the album’s more dissonant, prickly tracks, was originally written to accompany three poems by the abstract painter Wassily Kandinsky, whose texts Jones found “absurd, playful . . . sometimes cruel.” Two of the album’s songs are dedications to fellow guitarists (and friends) Robbie Basho and Michael Chapman. Jones turned away from standard tuning years ago, inventing tunings as a way of escaping the known. The pieces he writes in these tunings are his way of navigating new and unfamiliar landscapes. “But it’s my hope,” he says, “that what you hear are not the tunings and partial capos and all that, but the music — the feeling within these pieces.” Fleeting is a journey that Jones invites his listeners to take with him. itch to LIVE in those instances. And this makes him a worthy co-jammer, a fourth plane to the BB triangle that quantifies and dimensionalizes the sound. Inevitable, then, that they’d do something. Their first blend was for the Shirley Collins tribute comp, a rendition of “Pretty Saro” that built from the starkness and tonal monophony of the auld ballads and opened the hatch to timeless stasis. But if more was desired (which it was), more would be needed — the full trio of Bajas in the room together, in audience with the ‘Prince.’ Following one of their many mini-jaunts around the country, Bitchin Bajas stopped by Bonnie’s aerie one day after tour to make it so. It was an epic and fortunate day.

in righteous and TRUE collaboration on this one, flowing ideas through the air between them, which seems a rare thing in this age where records course forth without wires, pieced together out of the zeros and ones that divide and don’t define us. The air’s meant to be shared, and that’s how Epic Jammers and Fortunate Little Ditties came to pass — a morning, afternoon and evening of frisson in blissed acceptance of the eternal recurrence. And it always came. These guys GET each other. They share a passion for arresting the moment in the process of now, and both of ’em get music from this action in their way. Bajas have a fan in Bonny; their ability to stretch time and get in between the grains scratches his
LP
Epic Jammers and Fortunate Little Ditties contains moments of tranquility and trance, with the players integrating their separate ways, vibing off each other, making songs together. Bonny is at his spirit-melting celestial best wandering through a lifetime of fortunes that amount, when incanted, to a prayer to the god of many names. The Bajas’ access to the universal aural paintbox is unparalCD leled; their reach is deep. And it all went down onto a 2-track reel-to-reel in primitive left-right seps that helped to define their ability to finish it in mixing. These WERE jams, with whatever preparation, gear, thought and cords — vocal and electric — backgrounded, in support of intuition and what existed AT THE MOMENT. Epic Jammers and Fortunate Little Ditties is simple and stark and empyrean and inspirational...and pretty modal, too — probably never more than three chords! — as Bonny and the Bajas pursue the life of the spirit down ever-fading vapor trails, in a bottomless (and topless — let ’em loose!) space.

Flying Saucer Attack originally manifested in the form of 7" singles, shot through with noise sheets and touches of eastern-tuned psychedelics, hooded with shoegaze-inspired somnambulance. For we Americans, it was exciting times, especially if we might lay hands on imported copies of the fresh, raw delights from abroad. In 1993, the first Flying Saucer Attack LP hit, and hard. Dubbed by some as “Rural Psychedelia”, the eponymous album exploded the sound of the singles into a full-length trip. This set the bar for FSA impossibly high, but in the following year, a collection of singles sides called Distance provided a companionable listen — and still without a personal appearance in support, the audience for Flying Saucer Attack continued to expand. In ’95, the nebulae aligned, the red giants
went supernova and the black holes issued forth onto the Drag City label (at last!): the second FSA album, Further, delivered deeper-focus textures with an increased acoustic presence that traded in new ways on the “rural psychedelia” label, sharing an encompassing access of space in doing so. They weren’t just alive, they were THRIVING. They were evolving. Later in that same year, Chorus emerged — an icy blast of electric-band FSA that in no way revisited the wild-eyed pastures of the first album, but instead found refinements and experimented in new directions. Further has been out of print on vinyl for the past decade. Chorus has been unavailable on LP since the golden days of CD (1998) ! The ’90s trajectory of Flying Saucer Attack was half over. The waning years of the decade would bring New Lands and Mirror... stay tuned.

Suddenly the band comes to life and all the old dancers are at it like it was 1970 again.” “There are a million tiny cues on Bambulaye that let you know it is a live band,” describes Plasse. “It feels like it could both fall apart and explode at any moment.” Press: “The most anticipated album of 2016” - lasalsaesmivida.com “ the rhythms of puente and barretto reverberate through this hard-charging band” -new york magazine TRACK LISTING: Key Marketing Points: BAMBULAYE *Extensive U.S. touring Summer 2016 PINTATE * Radio Campaign through Distillery Promo, LAS NIEVES DE BROOKLYN heavy rotation in Latin Markets. 'Transition', the collaborative release of Immix Ensemble and Vessel focuses on the theme of technology. Musical instruments are a somewhat technological anomaly in that they are rarely updated after their conception, often only receiving minor tweaks over the course of hundreds of years. As such, each instrument provides us with a snapshot of the cutting edge technologies of a particular time and place – in this sense, the instrumentation used by Immix provides us with snapshots of technologies that can be traced back as far as 1500BC. Taking these snapshots as a starting point, each movement in 'Transition' features one or two instruments, and, thematically, explores a significant invention or discovery that took place at around the same time as the invention and development of these instruments. Collaborating with Vessel updates this technological chronology by including the tools of the digital age. Immix is lead by Australian-born composer and sax player Daniel Thorne. The now Liverpool-based artist has a genuine passion for exploring and creating music in a diverse range of forms; composed and improvised, acoustic and electronic, and the various shades in-between. Founded in 2014, the idea behind Immix has been to galvanise the innovative musical voices from across the country. With the addition of Vessel, the moniker of Bristolian electronic composer Sebastian Gainsborough, Immix found a valuable first partner in exploring forward-thinking composition that slips between the cracks of traditional and contemporary styles. A stalwart of the UK experimental electronica community, Vessel's solo work has received critical acclaim for it’s post-industrial, visceral tone, using a sonic palette derived from the creation of home-made instruments, aiding in the creation of his signature nonreplicable sound. As the first in this series, March 18, 2016 will see the release of 'Transition' on 12" vinyl and download, followed by a string of live performances by the collaborators. Future episodes will bring further collaborations by Daniel Thorne’s ensemble with other forward-thinking artists and ensure Immix continues to evolve and expand. “A remarkable new piece of music” – Mary Anne Hobbs, BBC Radio 6 Music

ALOHA GOT SOUL New on Strut for February 2016, ‘Aloha Got Soul’ encompasses a vibrant era of contemporary music made in Hawai’i during the 1970s to the mid-1980s as jazz, rock, funk, disco and R&B co-existed alongside Hawaiian folk music. Hawai’i’s identity had undergone huge change: statehood into America in ‘59 and the Vietnam War were the backdrop as Hawai’i’s youth found inspiration in a new wave of international music led initially by The Beatles and Stones and, later, by US R&B bands like Earth Wind & Fire and Tower Of Power. Garage bands flourished during the ‘60s and, by the ‘70s, live music was at its peak. Waikīkī was filled with clubs: The Point After, Infinity’s, Hawaiian Hut, Spats and more. For the ‘70s generation of artists, some came through the talent contest ‘Home Grown’ and its accompanying compilation LP. Singer Nohelani Cypriano won it with her instant radio hit, ‘Lihue’. Other winning songs, like Marvin Franklin’s soul surfer jam ‘Kona Winds’, burned more slowly but have endured with DJs today. Many records also packed a powerful message. In 1978, Hawaiian was made the official state language and a huge movement arose to revive hula and traditional music. Steve & Teresa’s ‘Kaho’olawe Song’ longs for an island long gone: the US military had used Kaho’olawe as a bombing range since Pearl Harbor. Nohelani Cypriano sang about the once sleepy town of Kailua, now a popular tourist destination: “Kailua needs no high-rise with her blue skies, not for our eyes. Can you realize?” Leading Hawaiian artists like Aura, Mike Lundy and keyboardist Kirk Thompson’s Lemuria took time in high quality facilities like Broad Recording Studio to make albums. Others grabbed studio time when they could: Tender Leaf’s Murray Compoc worked for the city bus by day and recorded an album during night sessions. Other albums were spontaneous. In 1983, Steve Maii & Teresa Bright recorded an acoustic set in just 3 hours after being invited to a studio following a gig. For the artists of the ‘70s, the climate for music changed rapidly during the mid‘80s as DJ culture grew and live venues shut down. Hawai’i’s R&B era shone brightly and relatively briefly but, despite brilliant musicians, regular gigs and LP releases, most of the music barely made it to the mainland. Thanks largely to Aloha Got Soul’s Roger Bong, a new interest in this fertile era of Hawaiian music has grown, culminating in this new compilation of overlooked gems. ‘Aloha Got Soul’ is compiled and annotated by Bong and features rare photos and original artwork.
KEY POINTS - First ever compilation documenting Hawai’i’s varied R&B, AOR, jazz and disco scene - Rare tracks, mostly never reissued since their original release in Hawai’i - sleeve notes by Aloha Got Soul’s Roger Bong featuring exclusive artist interviews, rare photos and original LP artwork - Great sales potential through 2016 into Summer months - Currently planning accompanying live dates with Nohelani Cypriano for 2016

About Created by industry legend, MMO Music Group founder and true godfather of karaoke (but that’s another story) Irv Kratka alongside producer Eric Kriss, Inner City Records was formed in 1976. During its decade or so in existence, the label put together a formidable catalogue of jazz music and was voted Record Label Of The Year in 1979 by the International Jazz Critics Poll. As well as ‘classic jazz’, the label also gave a platform to more avant-garde material and dabbled in the emerging ‘jazz fusion’ sounds of the day. Fondly remembered by jazz lovers everywhere, the label boasts a particularly fervent fan-base in London, where many of its releases found favour in the underground dance clubs of Soho and Covent Garden. Fittingly enough, London DJ and tastemaker Kev Beadle is the man chosen to put together this very special compilation of Inner City’s finest moments. Having previously curated projects for labels such as Blue Note and Cadet, Kev has dug deep in the crates to emerge with this gem of an album. From the soaring vocals of the jazz-fusion classic ‘The Other World’ by Judy Roberts to the irrepressible dance-floor fire of Eddie Jefferson’s ‘Jeannine’, ‘The Best Of Inner City Records’ serves as a wonderful and eclectic introduction to a label which is rightly remembered with a level of affection which borders on reverence. Track listing: Key Selling Points • Limited edition double 180g vinyl and premium quality gatefold packaging • First ever retrospective of the label with full support from the founder Irv Kratka • Coverage assured on relevant websites & magazines, with full press & radio campaign in key territories

SEI A Space In Your Mind
AUSCD006 18.03.2016
AUS music/!K7 is proud to announce Space In Your Mind, the third album from UK artist, Sei A. After two years in the making, Aus Music and !K7 are proud to announce the release of Scottish producer Sei A' s third full length, Space in Your Mind. Two singles from the ten track opus—` Ancestors' and ` Space In Your Mind' , complete with DJ Tennis remixes—will come ahead of the full release on February 26th 2016. Sei A is Andy Graham, an ever-evolving producer who has cooked up many different shades of house and techno since emerging in 2008. From dark and melodic to well swung and bass heavy, he is not one to repeat the same trick twice as two former LPs and more than 15 EPs on labels like Turbo, Life And Death, Kompakt and Aus/Simple have proved before now. As if to cement the point, this full length finds Graham straying from the dance floor to cook up a fulsome album that stands up to introspective home listening.
“The LP came from writing a lot of music in a short space of time,” says Graham. “I felt I had grasped a sound and I wanted to expand it further. Musically I was finding that the material had much more space within the sound, with the main structure of it being melodies, therefore giving it quite a rich feel throughout. I was also aiming to expand on writing actual songs that take in verse/chorus, verse/chorus structures.” And he has sure accomplished that, because with the help of guest collaborators Will Samson and Daudi Matsiko on four tracks, Space in Your Mind is an absorbing listen with many melodies and vocal lines lingering long in the memory. There is a sombre feel to the album right from the off. Opener ` Always' is a grainy, sparse sonic landscape with fractured vocals and dark drones eventually being cut through by bright melodies. From there that pixelated sense of melody continues through the bleak ambience of ` In The Light' and ethereally back lit glow of dark and dubby pop night ` Space In
Your Mind.' Full of shadowy spaces, greyscale pads and comfortingly downbeat drums, tracks like ` Kalstar' pick up the pace but remain resolutely insular, whilst ` Everytime' is the stunningly emotive jewel right at the heart of the album. It marries forlorn and vulnerable vocals with waify chords and downbeat synths that are truly pained before ` Everytime' offers a noteworthy break in the clouds with its vast synth chords and heavenly vocals drifting in perfect harmony. Then ' Ancestors' features more genuinely pained vocals amongst a dubby brew of beats, ` Morning Soldier' conveys a real sense of optimism after the darkness that has gone before and from there the album plays out through heavily hymnal atmospheres, heart broken chords and teary eyed melody of the sort that are truly moving.

INFORMATION:
Leave your preconceptions behind because Ital Tek’s brilliant new album ‘Hollowed‘ is his best and most rewarding yet. Created from new beginnings, it's a journey through the naïve exploratory methods with which Alan Myson started to make music over a decade ago. The record is dark and maximalist but at the same time the huge sounds are minutely detailed and elegantly rendered.
TRACKLIST: A: 01 A Delicate Balance 02 Redeemer 03 Beyond Sight B: 04 Terminus 05 Cobra 06 Nex 07 Memory Shard C: 08 Murmur 09 Aquamarine 10 Reflection Through Destruction D: 11 Jenova 12 Vesper 13 Vacuum I
Cutting himself off in a new studio at the start of 2014, Alan experimented and worked out the core sounds of the album by going back to the techniques he started with: "when I was 15 I would make endless minidiscs with my guitar and effects. With this record I bought the guitar I wanted back then and hit record, creating hours of drones, loops and textures. I wanted to make the album that was in my head when I was 14 but I had no idea how to". With ‘Hollowed‘ Ital Tek gone far beyond his earlier more dance-genre based work, leaving just the footprint and especially the sonic weight and space of dubstep. But the sound here is designed from the ground up and carved into something much more abstract, impressionistic and elegant. As Alan puts it "I'm moving away from dance music and letting sound inhabit a space without shoving everything at the listener in the first few bars". One of the biggest musical experiences that left an impression on him while recording this album was hearing "Henryk Gorecki’s Symphony No 3’ being played live, starting very small and soaring, then returning to stillness…" It was this that made him think about reassembling his approach to making music.

ZACH COOPER
THE SENTENCE March 18, 2016 Zach Cooper weaves recordings with the Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble, high school demos, solo compositions and eraserhead-less tape experiments into the shining fabric of The Sentence. A debut album brimming with many talents and tales, The Sentence is atemporal, a divining of Cooper’s personal history to map his musical travels through formative years in New York state, his studies and collaborations within the University of Vermont’s music theory and composition department, and a move to the hills of Black Mountain, North Carolina. Cooper lays bare his recorded youth throughout The Sentence: “Exploring old recordings and turning them into new ones allows me to find the common musical threads through my life. These sounds give me little hints to understanding my REAL life, in spirit and in vibration, more than any specific mood or musical taste.” His personal plunders are the sonic foundation of The Sentence, but only partly make the album’s guiding beam. Devoted to a lifestyle of meditation and spiritual embrace, Cooper reflects inner peace to a universal call for calm. “This is for us to incite stillness in our hearts and minds,” each word a song, each title a movement in the greater dance of harmony and balance. Cooper’s sentence is not about meditation, but the result of it. The album’s message does not predict its sound. Though moments of The Sentence are quiet (“To”) and hopeful (“Is”); others are whimsical (”Us”) and moody (“Minds”). “Incite” crashes cymbals upon Moog waves, samples of Saturday cartoons and middle school conversations. “Stillness” threads multiple movements within a three minute expanse: abrasive samples, billowing horns (care of Rev. Kiah Abendroth on trumpet), a guitar / synth lullaby and North Carolina finger-picking. The most elaborate of The Sentence, “Us”, brushes ecstatic orchestral movements atop a canvas of chamber recordings and present-day electronic freak-outs. The song exemplifies Cooper’s breadth, toolkit and imaginative execution as a composer. “Us” features performances from Steve Klimowski (clarinet) and Bonnie Thurber-Klimowski (cello), both of the Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble, and was recorded in a chapel in Montpelier,VT.

Brute [bro͞ot] noun: brute; plural noun: brutes - a savagely violent person or animal. origin: late Middle English (as an adjective): from Old French brut(e), from Latin brutus ‘dull, stupid.’ “You are no longer peacefully assembling,” announces the voice of an officer on a Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD), a sonic weapon employed by riot police, capable of deafening a target by exceeding humane levels. Both a corporeal and symbolic tool of violence, the LRAD violates the physiological space between state control and the body using amplified sound. Fatima Al Qadiri returns to Hyperdub for her 2nd album Brute. Made from the perspective of her transnational experience, her new record explores the theme of authority, the relationship between police, citizens and protest worldwide, particularly of her adopted home in the United States. Musically, Brute teeters between rage and despair, manifesting in restrained percussion, sampled and processed recordings of urban protest, and the signature minor progressions that distinguish Al Qadiri’s body of work. Reflecting on the carceral state (Oubliette), the militarization of police (Endzone, Curfew), the fragile boundaries between defence and the deadly use of force (Battery, 10-34), and the relentless violation of the dignity of protesters and activists (Breach, Blows, Fragmentation), the record is a sombre tribute to lost life and agency. The album art is a detail of the sculpture Po-Po (2015) by Josh Kline, heavily altered by art director Babak Radboy. Reimagining a popular children's show character as a militarized SWAT officer with implanted surveillance technology, Radboy subjects Po-Po to extreme image processing, situating the installation photo as a still from a fictitious blockbuster. As a tribute to those on the front lines of protest and a condemnation of neoliberal fascism, Brute provides a chilling sonic backdrop to a world of normalised brutality, a painful illumination of the facade of democracy. SHOTGUN JIMMIE – FIELD OF TRAMPOLINES Release Date: March 18, 2016 Label: You’ve Changed Records Catalog: YC-025 Format: LP (with download)/CD Field of Trampolines is a perfect summer record, recorded at the eastern end of a long cross-Canada tour in August 2015. Shotgun Jimmie and his band (made up of Winnipeg’s wonderful Human Music) camped and played rock shows and swam in every possible lake. Crowds were surfed. They ate from orchards and cooked by fire. Field of Trampolines was produced by Joel Plaskett in his Dartmouth, NS studio. Joel is a magician and a musician and a legend. They worked quickly, recording live and mixing fast in a single 4 day session. Joel captured the summer vibes like a glow bug in his bare hands.

Here are 10 songs celebrating life’s joys: life on the road (Join The Band), natural phenomenon (Solar Array), and camping (Triple Letter Score). There are a series of tributes to Jimmie’s friends and inspirations: The Constantines are saluted in Constantines Believer, Attack In Black in Love Letter, and the legendary Eric’s Trip in Song For Julie, Chris, Rick + Mark. Jimmie’s current life as a student at art school gets due airtime: “I’m losing sleep over Georgia O’Keefe” he sings in Georgia OK. And as the batteries run down on the nostalgic and entirely wonderful closing Walkman Battery Bleed, you’ll be looking to flip back to the A side and play it all over again. Shotgun Jimmie has recorded and toured with John K Samson (of The Weakerthans) and collaborated with Julie Doiron. His previous albums Everything, Everything and the Polaris Prize nominated Transistor Sister have earned a large and enthusiastic following. Field Of Trampolines is a celebratory shot at the globe. GARRY TALLENT Break Time STREET DATE: 3/18/16
As a founding member of The E Street Band, Garry Tallent has spent a considerable portion of his life touring the world and playing for legions of fans. In between these musical campaigns, the question fans most often ask is, “So, what do you do in your break time?” With his new album, Garry now has the perfect answer. Break Time is a wonderfully raucous collection of twelve original songs, all written or co-written by Garry. Reaching back to the sounds that initially inspired him; the songs on Break Time use the music of the ‘50s as a framework. But this is no museum piece! Using a largely acoustic ensemble, Garry captures the timeless energy of the era when rock and roots music was born. Upright bass, accordion, archtop guitar and real drums come together in a jubilant festival of song. Drawing from the rich pool of Nashville players, Garry assembled an ace studio crew to help him bring these songs to life. Special guests include guitar giant Duane Eddy, whose unmistakable twang can be heard on “Promise to My Heart,” fellow E Street Band member Nils Lofgren adds harmony vocals on “Ooh La La,” and Cajun superstar Doug Kershaw sings on “Bayou Love.” Music City chanteuse Kristi Rose duets with Garry on the first single, the rockabilly boppin’ “StayAway.” A video for the single has been shot by master artist Bob Delevante, coming soon to a screen near you. Recorded live to 8-track tape at Nashville musician Paul Burch’s Pan American Studios, Break Time is a triumph of analog music making. Co-produced by Garry and Eddie Angel, founder of Los Straitjackets, it sounds like the work of a man who has been in love with rock and roll his entire life. And that’s exactly what it is; Every last note of it.

Andrew Bernstein The Great Outdoors March 18, 2016 Tape collage, extended saxophone improvisations, and classic synthesis techniques are paired with medium-pushing algorithmic composition on The Great Outdoors, the second solo record in as many years by Baltimore based composer Andrew Bernstein. Out March 2016 on Ehse Records, The Great Outdoors includes an album of music and a suite of generative sound art websites that pushes at the edges of what an album can be. As a member of experimental rock quartet Horse Lords, Bernstein provides counterpoint in the form of spiraling saxophone figures and unhinged polyrhythmic percussion. As a solo artist, these inclinations coalesce into distinct compositions informed by musique concrète, free jazz, academic computer music, and minimalist compositon. Track Listing

Helmed by one of the strongest songwriters in the business, Mick Coogan, the boys of Brett take the wraps off their second album, Mode. Dynamite singles "Claire Drained" and "Electric" anchor the album, showing the band further refining its take on melodic and meditative music. It's rare for material this instantaneous to also express such emotional maturity. Modern pop music at its best.

Makaya McCraven In The Moment Deluxe Edition “One of the most important recordings to date in the modern jazz world.” – Turntable Lab Makaya McCraven's early 2015 offering In The Moment was pared from nearly 48 hours of live, improvised performance recorded at 1 venue over 12 months and 28 shows. Working with instrumental contributions from an array of Chicago jazz players (including Jeff Parker, Joshua Abrams, Marquis Hill, and Matt Ulery), Makaya culled, cut, rendered and remixed the mass of sounds into 19 potent pieces of organic beat music for the original 80-minute, 2xLP issue. At the close of a breakthrough 2015 (with In The Moment receiving high marks from BBC’s Gilles Peterson, New York Times, and ‘Best of 2015’ honors from Los Angeles Times, Apple Music, NPR Music’s Jazz Critics Poll, and more), International Anthem announced a limited vinyl pressing of In The Moment E & F Sides, which contains 40 new minutes of music produced by Makaya from the same source material and mastered by Low End Theory founder Daddy Kev. Brand new work from Northampton, Massachusetts percussionist and electronic producer Jake Meginsky. Known best for his solo work both under his own name as well as the Vapor Gourds moniker, Meginsky has also been highly active in collaborative groups such as Slaughterhouse Percussion with John Truscinski, and F/I/P with guitarist Bill Nace. After last year’s brilliant “Vandals” LP on Open Mouth and Vapor Gourds’ “Incision Objects” LP on Fogged, Meginsky starts 2016 off fresh with “Seven Psychotropic Sinewave Palindromes” for NNA.
NNA is pleased to release a special collaboration between two of Montréal, Quebec’s finest. “Too Significant To Ignore” unites Andrea-Jane Cornell, a prolific improviser and former CKUT Radio music programming director, and Tim Darcy, best known as the guitarist/vocalist for Constellation Records’ four-piece post-punk band Ought. On this recording, the duo concoct a hazy bed of grey, melancholic psychedelia using synthesizers, field recordings, processed accordion, and manipulated objects to serve as a backdrop for Darcy’s deranged existential spoken word.
Bringing new ideas to the realm of electronic minimalism, Meginsky strips down the sound world of this composition to four basic elements – sine waves, square waves, white noise, and an 808 kick drum. While these four sounds may be commonplace in the world of electronic music, the results here are anything but. There is enough diversity in the application of these rudiments that the listener quickly forgets about their inherent limitations, and opens up to a new cohesive listening experience. Using an advanced ear for psychoacoustic phenomenon and microtonal textures, Meginsky goes far beyond merely layering these four sound elements, but instead is able to assign them unique relationships to one another through careful composition, creating a refreshing new style that sits somewhere between musique concrete, techno, noise, footwork, IDM, and contemporary electronic music.
Recalling the spirit of post-punk’s more adventurous heroes such as Dome, The Shadow Ring, Sleaford Mods, and The Birthday Party, “Too Significant To Ignore” occupies a similar territory where punk ideals intermingle with electronic music and the avant-garde. AJ and Tim create a bleak sound world that lends itself well to the cold concrete and icy ambiance of Canadian metropolitan living. Subtle melodies coexist alongside smoldering, buzzing drones, sublime electronics, and indiscernible field recordings, all smudged together to forge a slow-paced swirling mass. A beautifully peaceful sadness is revealed, creating a perfect atmosphere of cosmic dread and a cinematic sensitivity that compliments the unfolding observational dialogue.
As an experienced percussionist, Meginsky takes highly advanced concepts of rhythm and tempo and applies them to these digital sound sources. The influence of percussion is further evident through the emphasis on sonic physicality through extreme dynamics, and Meginsky shows a firm understanding of the effect that sound can have on the human body. Powerful bass, hissing high end white noise, and rhythmic mid range textures interact with one another to produce constant movement and a driving directional flow, not to mention palpable physical sensations in the ears and brain. Unlike acoustic percussion, however, the tone and mood of the piece feels alien and inhuman, and any traces of the warmth of humanity are forgone to give way to electronic purity. “Seven Psychotropic Sinewave Palindromes” is proof that an artist restricting themselves to a limited palette can lead to highly creative, original, and unexpected results.
Darcy’s vocal delivery comes across as part Ferlinghetti, part Henry Rollins, and part Bill Hicks. His drawled, surrealist lyrics ooze forth like a loogie sliding down a brick wall, reflecting a bored disgust and an isolation from society. He touches on apathetic voyeurism, city life, regret, self-reflection, human disconnection via accelerated technology, and the bleakness of modern sterility. The delivery and the content of the lyrics impeccably conveys the drab routine and impersonality of day-to-day life, like the disoriented narration of an existential crisis. Using repetition as a weapon, Darcy drills phrases into the listener’s brain, helping the lyrics recede into the music to create a coherent unity between the electronic ambiance and dry vocalizations. “Too Significant To Ignore” is a unique and non-referential pairing of electronics and spoken word, yielding an invigorating listen that stands on its own amongst new underground music. AJ and Tim succeed in communicating the confusing psychedelia inherent in the mundanity of modern human existence.

This is their first full length album, recorded at the Funkhaus studio in Berlin. Following their work with Fabien Leseure on the Sweet Jelly Roll EP (A Recordings) in 2013, plans were made to further explore the potential for capturing the band's intense live energy. The group returned to Berlin in 2014 and spent three weeks exploring, experimenting and recording with Leseure at the controls. The resulting ten tracks are representative of the group's evolution since their last EP – beginning with a lush psychedelic sound and pushing towards a stark but honest headspace. 1 - Who's Saving Who 2 - Way of Sorrow 3 – Rotting 4 - Silver Leather 5 – Birds 6 – Saviours 7 - Virgin's Sleeve 8 - Grey on Blue 9 – Citadel 10 - Laughing on their Knees

At long last, Teensville is proud to present a comprehensive package of all Danny Williams later pop and soul recordings from 1963-1967 including various rare U.K and U.S singles and album cuts. Danny was so much more than just “Moon River" or “White On White”, and this package highlights his versatility as you will hear swirling ballads, northern soul movers and teen pop. 19 tracks are in stereo and most of these tracks appear on CD for the very first time including many from Danny's rare U.K LP "Only Love". As a bonus, we have included 4 of his hits from the early 60s including “Moon River”, which makes this the ultimate collection. Danish band fast gaining attention for their transcendent melodies, delicate guitar lines and emotive pop songs about naivety and youth. Following two sold out pressings of So Long Sun 7" and the self-titled 5 track EP, Tough Love have collected the two releases together on CD. The 7 tracks document the impressive evolution from teenage proteges of the Copenhagen Mayhem scene to perhaps the most accomplished young songwriters in the country. "oozes effervescent warbles—from vocalist Martin Rehof, and the interplay of shimmering guitars, and lovely crescendos of reverb, reminiscent of early Stone Roses.” (Pitchfork) 1. Forget it's a Dream 2. Wherever 3. Restless Hours 4. Summer's Oath 5. Out of My World 6. So Long Sun 7. Love Stands Still
