DRACO ROSA

Debuts his stunning single and music video “SELVA”

ward-winning Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, producer and actor Draco Rosa releases “Selva,” his first official single and video since January 2020. This atmospheric song that mixes electronica with ancient elements of the old world will be included on his upcoming studio album. In creating this video, Draco Rosa once again collaborates with the cutting-edge Colombian animation company Sharpball, which also worked on his acclaimed animated musical series Hotel De Los Encuentros (2019). The last time we encountered the Vagabund, who is Draco’s metaverse character (Drakus Magus), he was walking through the jungle in Puerto Rico as portrayed in the music video of “En Las Horas Más Tristes,” the final single from his previous studio album Monte Sagrado (2018). Now with “Selva,” the story continues, but the Vagabund returns to animated form. Sharpball offers details about the meaning of “Selva” and its spellbinding visual elements: “‘Selva’ is a story about the vibrations of the universe, the connection with the cycles of what is inevitable, and constant transformation. Inspired by the sonic landscape of Draco Rosa’s previous single, which fuses natural and digital elements, we return to the adventure of the Vagabund, who finds himself injured and stunned after his accident, travelling through a suffocating landscape of death and desolation, trying to find something beyond a fatal destiny.” “Influenced by fantasy and sci-fi art of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, we crafted an extension of the Monte Sagrado universe where a contemporary style of speedpainting and concept art come to life via animation and motion graphics. This causes the Vagabond to suffer a transformation, nourished by the concepts of sonic healing, chakras, and spiritual synchrony, as well as technological advances, modern information technology and the paradigm shifts that the world is undergoing.” “In this fiction of transition between cyberpunk and solar punk, we are presented with the continuation of an

epic journey that is highly stimulating, and that takes advantage of the amalgam of different concepts, formats and artistic techniques with the goal of generating an audiovisual work that bends time, while meditating and projecting the being onto another reality.” By the end of the video, it is revealed that this engrossing story will continue further. Draco Rosa has toured the world, filling prestigious venues while reaching a loyal fan base. Inducted into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2016, Rosa was bestowed with an honorary degree in Humanities and Business Administration from the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Puerto Rico. This multiple GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® winner has received many awards and recognitions as a recording artist and for his accomplishments as a composer, musician, singer, songwriter, producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. NATALYAH Trinidad-born Swiss artiste atalyah, the Swiss artiste who regularly resides in the Caribbean island of her birth Trinidad whilst basking in the country’s hot rhythms, joie de vivre and diverse culture, has an invigorating unique musical vision. After having recently released her debut soca-pop album “ Badder Than You” Natalyah is surging back with her new single “Give Me Another” (hour or two with you) - a refreshing song with an urbanexotic flair reminiscent of sun and fun. But Natalyah shot the video with her alumni team in London where they managed to capture a romantic but exciting story that unfolds across the business district of the Docklands, the former port area of the British metropolis. Natalyah was born in Trinidad but moved back to Switzerland with her parents shortly afterwards. She wrote and produced her own songs before joining a professional cover band at 18 and becoming lead singer of her own band soon after. Natalyah studied music at the University of Arts and Music in Zurich and continued her studies the UK graduating with a bachelor in vocals and performance giving her the necessary background and tools for her international career. Natalyah performs regularly on stage in Trinidad &Tobago, UK and Switzerland and is one of the few Swiss singers who has ever performed in the Hallenstadion. Her singles “Badder Than You” and “One Soca Nation” are regularly played on Radio Swiss Pop/SRF3. And don’t miss the song and video called “Can’t Get Over You”, a collaboration with Trinidad’s premier soca musician Shurwayne Winchester.

Some highlights of Natalyah’s career include performances as a Chutney-Soca Semi Finalist in Trinidad 2013 and 2014 and performing live in costume on a Legacy Mas Band music truck during the 2015 Trinidad Carnival. Highlights 2017 boast a suc

Continued....from page 9 Natalyah delivers catchy Reggae Refix to ‘Wine Out The Fever’ Zürich, Switzerland (Sonique Solutions) – The music keeps on flowing for Trinidad-born Swiss artiste Natalyah. Following the successful late Spring release of the soothing song ‘Save Meh’, Natalyah is once again bending genres and combining Caribbean elements for her latest Reggae-refix to her previously released Chutney-Soca track ‘Wine Out The Fever’. Wine Out The Fever which was originally recorded by Natalyah in the Chutney-Soca genre was produced by Rishi Mahato of Maha Productions and written by Fazad ‘Uncle Joe’ Shageer. The earlier version of this song secured the Soca-Pop songstress a semi-final spot at the 2013 edition of the famous Chutney Soca Monarch competition in Trinidad (which is the largest Indo-Caribbean event in the world and one of the main T&T Carnival annual cultural extravaganzas, alongside the International Soca Monarch, the Dimanche Gras and the Panorama Finals). Although currently based in Europe, the San Fernando, Trinidad-born singer has always stayed close to her roots and spends months at a time each year in her homeland when not touring internationally. Most notably, Natalyah stayed in T&T for a significant portion of the recent pandemic lockdown where she created music, fostered several local and international collaborations which brought about this unique, classic 10

Reggae-inspired refix which was created by producer Tom Banfield. She shared, ‘Tom found me on Instagram during the lockdown when I was in Trinidad, and asked me if I wanted to be part of his album project. After that project was completed, he asked me if he could do a remix of one of my songs and suggested a rootsy Reggae version of Wine Out The Fever. And without hesitating I sent him my vocals.’ Regarding this new version and Tom’s radio-friendly refix she further stated, ‘I really like the mix of the Chutney-Soca lyrics and melody combined with the rootsy Reggae. The theme of the lyrics is that I am suffering from “music fever” that can be cured by either wining to Chutney or now Reggae music. I love it!’ London-based producer Tom Banfield, who is actually a Barbadian citizen by marriage embraced the opportunity to create this distinctive musical mashup, saying, ‘The tempo of the original song meant I could either do another Soca version or build a new song structure around the half beat. I felt a Reggae refix would hopefully expose the song to a different set of listeners and help to spread Natalyah's music to a wider audience in different territories.’ ‘Wine Out The Fever’ is distributed through VPAL Music and is available now on all major streaming platforms. PETE STARR

Recording Artiste, Pilot, Disc Jock, Producer and Music Entrepreneur

T

he world is talking! Pete

Starr is one of the hottest new producers in the game right now; and what the world wants, the world shall get.

Pete Starr is the CEO of One House Records label which is based in New Jersey. Peter ‘Pete Starr’ Henry dons many hats: Recording Artiste, Pilot, Disc Jock, Producer and Music Entrepreneur. He has more than 20 years of deep rooted passion and experience in music and the reggae industry. He is a former student of St. George's College in Kingston, Jamaica. His project entitled: Greater Glory is a unique one, as it is the first production to be done in Jamaica which features all artistes that attended the same high school, St George’s College.where it is a full blown St. Georges College. 12

“THE GREATER GLORY RHYTHM” was birthed out of a desire to reconnect with his roots in Jamaica and friends from his alma mater “St. George’s College.” The production has transformed the artistes into blazing reggae game changers, a path which fits into the producer's vision. Pete Starr is not a producer that just got lucky, he worked day and night endlessly, with many sleepless nights to ensure this rhythm would be creating a storm on the airwaves. When asked if he thought it would have gotten this reaction, Pete Starr said “You will always reap what you sow, and I’ll continue persevering.” Born Peter Henry in Kingston, Jamaica to polished and industrious parents he is the eldest of his siblings. Pete Starr from a tender age had a passion for flying airplanes and listening to music.

RED INK MAGAZINE

Peter Henry, attended St.George's College from 1992-1998 where he met most of his lifelong schoolmates who shared similar interest in music and sports. It is obvious he still keeps contact with them! “My experience there was a very eye opening one. I met very good friends from varied social backgrounds which helped to shape me into the person I am today. I realized not everyone had a comfortable life...it was an eye opener for me...as a result of this I am now able to empathize and communicate with everyone more effectively. My experience at St George's College was an educational yet fun one which helped me to forge many strong bonds!” He then set his sights on becoming a pilot, where he successfully obtained all his Pilot’s Licenses and his degree in Aeronautical Science at Florida Institute of

Technology (FIT) in Melbourne, Florida. “I always knew that I wanted to be a pilot, it wasn’t an easy journey, but with the support from my parents and my hard work I knew the sky wasn’t the limit.” he continued: “While in high school and college, I always had a passion for music, realizing the need for authentic caribbean parties I ventured into being a party promoter and even played as a disc jock at these events.” The ambitious Airline Pilot gave credit to his late father in his recent song "Daddy" for playing an instrumental (no pun intended) role in motivating him to achieve the grades that qualified the producer to not only "fly a kite" but to fly the a technologically advanced jet airplane for a very prestigious US Airline. RED INK MAGAZINE

Continued....from page 13

Pete Starr’s next step in his musical journey was further solidified by successfully launching his very own record label: One House Records. As a CEO and Producer of this reggae movement era, he has set his focus on producing “only” positive music. His first studio compilation production is dubbed “The Greater Glory” which was officially released on October 22nd 2021 and distributed by VPAL Music. The Greater Glory album debuted on the iTunes Reggae Chart and the Billboard Reggae Chart at number two (2) and five (5) respectively, next to the reggae legend himself the great Bob Marley. The thirteen (13) track set is now enjoying heavy rotation on radio internationally and locally. This production has already established Pete Starr’s reputation as a talented, meticulous, disciplined, no non-sense producer, with legitimate production skills that a growing fan base could steadily gravitate towards. With this Greater Glory project, Pete Starr has stamped an indelible mark on the reggae movement. As the world patiently awaits the next big production to hit the airwaves, the acclaimed producer continues to work with his team assiduously in the studio. Peter Henry’s track record displays his work ethic, discipline and humility will undoubtedly be the driving force in reggae music as he becomes one of Jamaica’s highly sought after producers. The projects in the pipeline to be released include: Reggae, Afrobeats and Dancehall Genres. He assures us to look out for the One House Records stamp. As Pete Starr continues to pave the way through the enormous expectations he has built for himself, he would like to leave a word for upcoming producers: “Keep working on your craft, be professional and build a team that will support you and one that shares the same vision.” 14

BLESSED B Heats up the season with new track ‘Summa Gyal’

T

oronto, Ontario (Sonique Solutions) – Hot

on the heels of his mega-hit ‘Black Man’, Jamaican Reggae artiste Blessed has churned out a new sizzling smash in the form of his new single ‘Summa Gyal’. Summa Gyal was written by Peter ‘Blessed’ Skinner and produced by Marcus Cain (a former producer at Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def Record Label). The mid-tempo track is best described as a fun party song created to resonate with listeners during the summer season and beyond. Even though the song’s lyrics appeal to the ladies, its genre-bending, danceable nature positions it to be a true dancefloor draw for both women and men alike. Regarding his latest release, Blessed shared, “It’s designed to make you dance and just have a great time. 18

It has a Latin feel with just the perfect blend of Dancehall & Soca!” Interestingly enough, Summa Gyal which is distributed by Zojak Worldwide was originally created with the intention of being used for a commercial. As luck would have it, the would-be advertisement track evolved into a full song which is so far getting positive reviews from several music fans and DJs who have heard it. With the reopening of the entertainment industry in North-America, the Toronto-based artiste has been heating up the performance circuit at recent virtual and inperson events. These include Kardinal Official’s recent ‘Free The City’ event and Jerk Fest Toronto as well as the upcoming ‘Bless In The City’ in Oshawa, Ontario (August 21st), Toronto’s ‘Mix T.O. Festival’ (August 22nd) and the Ahfomad Festival in Vancouver (August 29th).
