LIAM PAYNE
‘One Direction’ former band member, dies at 31
Liam James Payne was born on August 20, 1993 in the Heath Town District of Wolverhampton. He rose to meteoric success after appearing on the music talent competition show, The XFactor, twice. In 2008, he appeared on XFactor at age 14 and although he was cut from the show, Simon Cowell gave him the advice to come back to the show in 2 years after maturing his voice and talent a little better. In 2010, Liam Payne did just that. He returned to The X-Factor and it was on that show that the boy band One Direction was created. Simon Cowell, grouped together Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik and put them together as the band One Direction in the groups stage of The XFactor Competition. They came in third place, but then the following January in 2011, they were signed to Simon Cowell’s music label Syco Entertainment. The rest, as they say, is history. The band became one of the most well recognized and successful boy bands of all time both in the UK and U.S. Their debut album Up All Night debuted at number 1 on the billboard charts and the next 4 albums debuted at number 1 in the UK. And the album Midnight Memories Was the world’s best-selling album in 2013 and their tour in 2014 was the highest grossing tour. To say the rise to success was volcanic would be an understatement, it was a literal rocket ship.
Payne was one of the lead singers and also one of the most prolific song writers, accounting for just about half of all the songs they produced. The band went on hiatus in 2016 and Liam began a very successful solo career. His debut solo single “Strip That Down” was number 10 on the billboards and number 3 on the UK charts, the single reached double platinum status in the UK and triple platinum status in the U.S. He continued putting out top of the chart albums and singles. To put Liam Payne’s success into numbers; during his solo career sold over 18 million singles, 2.4 million albums, and had over 3.9 billion streams. And with One Direction he sold 70 million records worldwide, including 7.6 million albums and 26 million singles in the US, becoming one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.
eye, and developed a severe drug addiction. Ultimately it would be this addiction that caused his untimely and tragic death on October 16th, 2024. He ingested a huge cocktail of drugs and alcohol, including Pink Cocaine, which is a combination of Meth, Ketamine, MDMA, Cocaine, Benzo, and Crack all together. This cocktail put him into and uncontrollable state and he wound up falling off of the 3rd floor balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The fall ultimately proved to be fatal.
But let’s not remember Liam for his one vice and one day of extremely poor decisions. Let’s remember him as the uber-successful singing sensation that he was, and also for the good he brought into the world. On top of being an incredible singer, he was also an incredible guy. He was involved in many charities, especially those that helped underprivileged and ill children. With One Direction he raised over two million pounds for the charity Children in Need and Comic Relief. He was also very active with UNICEF and helped raise millions of dollars for them. Also he partnered with Harry Styles to join Trekstok which is a youth cancer charity, and with Louis Tomlinson he co-hosted the Believe in Magic charity ball, which was to help terminally ill children. Between himself and Tomlinson they donated over five million pounds from their own check books. He also believed strongly that nobody should suffer starvation and during COVID he sponsored over 300,000 meals with the UK food banks. And in the month prior to his death, he had been very active reviewing dozens of GoFundMe pages and donated thousands of pounds to various funds, and in a snapchat video posted a month before his death, he explained, “I’ve been going on night by night by night, trying to finish off people’s donations so that they can get the operations they need."
However, as is the case with many young stars, he had some trouble dealing with the success and stress of being in the public
Liam Payne was taken entirely too soon and in the prime of his life and career. HE was only 31 years old. Liam, you will be remembered by the billions of fans that you have around the world forever and remembered with special fondness by all of the people that you helped through your charitable donations and efforts. You were truly an amazing talent and an amazing person. Rest in Peace good sir. By Michael Devine u

Donald Drake Hogestyn was born September 29th, 1953 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Although Drake is best known as a the phenomenal actor who played the character, John Black, on Days of Our Lives. Acting was not his first passion. He actually went to school at the University of South Florida in Tampa, majoring in pre-dentistry, where he also played baseball and was so good at the sport that he was actually signed to the New York Yankees and added to their minor league farm team. He played third base with them until he was injured in 1977. On a whim, he entered the Columbia Pictures talent search that had over 75, 000 people competing and he was one of the 30 people chosen. His first leading role was on the prime time series, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, which he starred in for 2 years. Over his career he appeared in a few made for TV movies and a few episodes of shows, including Criminal Minds and Otherworld. However, the character that he was meant to play and the one that he embodied mind and soul, was John Black on Days of Our Lives. He continued this leading role on one of the most successful soap operas of all time, for 38 years and during that time he appeared in over 4,200 episodes. Now that is an incredible tenure. Continued on page 10
And in all of the episodes, he always had a leading role. He was after all part of the show’s most favorite power couples, John and Marlena. During his tenure on Days of Our Lives, he accumulated some prestigious Soap Opera Digest Awards, including Hottest Male Star in 1994 and 1995, nominated again in 1996 and 1997 and also Favorite Couple in 2005 which he shared with Deidre Hall who played Marlena Evans.
Drake was suffering and battling with late stage Pancreatic Cancer, however he did not let it stop him from continuing his passion. He continued acting up until a few weeks before his untimely death on
September 28th, 2024. His last episode of Days of Our Lives was aired on September 9th, 2024.
Drake, Hogestyn aka John Black, was adored by his family, friends and soap opera fans all around the world. Everyone that ever worked with him on the set had nothing but incredible things to say about him. Drake, your untimely death at the hands of Pancreatic Cancer, has left a void in your family and also on the set, the shoes of your character will never be filled again. You will be missed dearly but never forgotten. Drake Hogestyn, your fight is over, and your pain has ended, may you find peace and comfort in the ever after. Rest in Peace.

SOUL REBEL
Releases New EP: “Soul Ventures - A Rebel’s Genesis”
Reggae music welcomes rooted talent through none other than Soul Rebel. The town of Linstead in St. Catherine is the place where this roots rock reggae artiste originated. This humble town Linstead produced many greats such as the famous “The Soul Defenders Band” of the renowned “Studio One”. She was heavily influenced by their music and was connected to many members growing up.
Born Julan Samuels, Soul Rebel’s childhood was replete with musical influences. John Screw, her dad played as a “Studio One” drummer on several songs from The Soul Defenders catalog and other bands under the regime of Sir Coxsone Dodd. Soul Rebel was later mentored by Ronald “Privy” Clarke, Soul Defenders’ guitarist for many years. With early piano, music theory, vocal training, church choirs and the Jamaican Cultural Development Commission programs throughout the early years her skills in the performing arts grew tremendously.
Much of her experience and artistic development took place at the Tabbath Production Studio in Linstead, St. Catherine, Jamaica. With more stage-show experiences she developed a craft for the stage all her own. Her soulful techniques, mellow tones and strong melodies and harmonies take us back to the authentic reggae vocal stylings. She combines this style with the punchline paced street style called “sing-jay” especially in live performances bringing high energy and spirit to her live deliveries.
Soul Rebel has graced many stages in Jamaica such as, Sound Di Alarm in Linstead, Boom Box Fridays, Ja style Tuesdays, Kingston Night Market, Dancehall Thursdays, Rub-a-dub Tuesdays and many other showcases across Jamaica. In the United States she has performed in Florida, Connecticut, Washington DC and many boroughs of New York City.
Before the great Lock Down, Soul Rebel had been on the road in North America, performing in Maryland and the Washington DC area on behalf of Linstead Maya Football Club. Shortly after there was no movement. But there would still be music. The artiste would be in the recording studio laying vocals for months during the pandemic.
Tabbath Productions single entitled “Drama” now available on all platforms was written by Hopeton Lindo aka “the pen” with Soul Rebel as a co-writer, was the artiste first release in 2022.

King Majesty is being heavily supported in Europe with consistent radio plays in Russia, United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Germany and France.
In Jamaica, Irie FM, Edge Fm, Roots FM, Best FM, Sun City Radio and many others support Soul Rebel’s music. AT THE HEART OF THE MATTER
ello again RED INK foodies! In this issue we hope you enjoy our wonderful recipe selection for this month. We are always happy to share with our readers a fun recipe for you to try. Enjoy!
RECIPE:
General Tso Stir Fry
• 4 chicken thighs, boneless, skinless, and cut into 1-inch pieces
In a large resealable plastic bag, add the chicken and 1/4 cup of cornstarch.
Step 2
Season the chicken with salt and pepper, sealing the bag and shaking it to coat.
Step 3
In a large pot over medium-high heat, add 2 tablespoons of oil.
Step 4
Shake the excess cornstarch from the chicken and add the chicken to the hot oil.
Step 5
Cook the chicken in batches until golden and cooked through at 165 degrees F internally, about 7 minutes. Cooking the chicken in batches ensures the oil isn't cooled too much while cooking.
Step 6
Drain the chicken on a paper-towel-lined plate.
Step 7
Add the remaining oil to the skillet.
Step 8
Add the garlic and red pepper flakes to the hot oil and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
Step 9
Add the chicken broth to the skillet and use a wooden spoon to scrape up any browned bits at the bottom of the skillet.
Step 10
In a medium bowl, whisk the hoisin sauce, honey, soy sauce, and lime juice with the remaining 1 tablespoon of cornstarch until combined.
Step 11
Add the sauce mixture to the mixture in the skillet and simmer until slightly thickened, about 1 minute.
Step 12
Add the broccoli to the sauce mixture and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
Step 13
Return the chicken to the skillet and stir to coat.
Step 14
Simmer everything for 1 minute.
Step 15
Garnish with sesame seeds and serve over rice.
Enjoy!

November will bring many obstacles to Aries that this fiery sign will have to deal with. There may be disagreements at work, and you will have to defend your opinion. There may also be someone close to you who will try to betray you. Since you will act more intuitively than usual during this period, you will recognize who is your faithful friend and who’s just playing with you.
November will bring Taurus a lot of motivation to change their lives. You will place the greatest emphasis on your health, as you will also face mild health problems during this period. So try to change your diet so that you feel healthy and full of energy. At the same time, this period is ideal for minor home improvements, as you will be full of creative ideas.
In November, Gemini can look forward to many social events. Due to the pleasant demeanour that you will definitely not lack, you will start friendships with new, very interesting people, with whom a common professional future can even emerge. So pamper your new friendships and think about every sentence you want to say; it matters a lot.
In November, Cancer will be very patient, and they will be successful in meeting their goals. Your motivation and determination will be high during this period, so don't be afraid to embark on something you've been putting off for a long time. You will manage twice as much as normal, and you will not even feel tired.
November will bring Leo a depressing mood. You will get tired and feel like closing up. At the same time, you should protect yourself during this bleak period and warmly dress so that you are not stricken by some illness, which you will be more prone to this month. Due to your contemplative thinking style, you will need some relaxation from your thoughts.
November awakens in Virgo the ability to communicate. You will become the centre of attention in the company of your friends. All your friends will be happy to listen to your opinions and stories, and you will gain sympathy from many people. During this period, you will be very honest, which is a big plus, and in addition, you will be able to find a way to express your opinion so as not to offend anyone.
November awakens in Libra a sense of justice and the ability to influence surroundings. This month, you will find yourself in situations that need to be handled with a cool head and rationally, which will be a piece of cake for you and your boss at work, and colleagues will appreciate it.
November will bring out an intellectual side of Scorpios, and they will crave knowledge. Do not expect anything from yourself regarding physical activities this month; however, you could have some success in the area of rhetoric. Also, your memory will be very good, so you can merge it into studies of something quite challenging.
In November, you should try to limit the use of electronic devices as much as possible, as it could negatively affect your psyche. Although it may seem unlikely, social networking can dramatically disrupt your concentration and productivity. If you have an important project to finish, try to relax by taking walks in a park.
In November, Capricorns will be filled with happiness. Your mind will be very creative, so you feel a need to experiment in many aspects of your life. You can use this creative energy and do the wall painting or reconstructions in your house that you have been planning to do for quite some time.
In November, Aquarians will not stop their thinking process for a moment. You will start thinking about your life, but you will get into a bubble of overthinking, and it will be hard for you to get out of there. Do not let yourself be down because of these states. Try to distract yourself and pay attention to something else, maybe try to learn a new language.
Pisces can relax in November because nothing will bother them this month, and they will be able to enjoy life fully. In this time period, it will be best for you to focus on the people close to you. Thanks to your empathy and kindness, you can help anyone who will need it, and that will warm your heart.
