LADY DA FLAME Reggae Artist released single "PUSH"
I
nternational recording artist Lady Da Flame is a powerhouse vocalist who is not afraid to expand creative boundaries. Once again, she boldly proves that her music and talent is more than capable of transcending listening audiences with the inspirational, EDM single "Push." Produced by Rawborn Productions, "Push" forwardly represents Lady Da Flame's tap into the booming EDM market. Recording music that spans more than four music genre, the songstress says, "I believe that EDM music is invigorating and a natural pairing for the uplifting lyrics of 'Push'....further, I am committed to making relatable music with positive messages of perseverance and strength, no matter the style of music." When asked to describe 'Push' with five words, Lady Da Flame rapidly says, "electrifying, motivational, inspiring, endurance, and strength." The entertainer adds, "When listeners hear 'Push'...I want them to feel encouraged and motivated. I want them to endure, keep going and complete their goals in life, regardless of how small or large they are." While "Push" raises the bar for the multitalented Lady Da Flame, there are great expectations for the record. As the song is already spreading like wildfire amongst top DJs and radio personalities, it's clear "Push" is on course for greatness. With Lady Da Flame's phenomenal Gospel song "God Answers Prayers" recently hitting the 10 million streams mark, it's an indicator of infinite possibilities for Lady Da Flame and “Push.” By all means, "Push" is one of Lady Da Flame's most personal releases to date. The singer remembers many times she had to "Push" herself to get through an issue or a situation. A lot of times, she had to give herself a small pep talk. When in a creative space one day, the singer decided to put those thoughts into a song. "Push" was born. 4 4
RED INK MAGAZINE
"Pushing" Lady Da Flame's EDM journey is the genre's Reggae roots. "You can't go around the fact that EDM spawns from Reggae, which draws me to it even more," says the singer. "Reggae groomed me into always putting forth reality music. It's always been that special place where I can feel free to sing about how I really feel with real issues that are going on."
With "Push" dropping on all DSPs, there are a lot of exciting happenings centered on the release, including upcoming performances in Queens, Bronx and Long Island, New York, as well as Washington, D.C. In addition, an official music video for "Push" is in the works. By Flair Lindsey Acclaim PR acclaimpr@gmail.com 5

JIMMY CARTER US 39th President died at 100
F
rom Peanut Farmer in Georgia to President of the United States to Nobel Peace Prize winner, Jimmy Carter truly embodied the spirit of the American Dream. He was born James Earl Carter Jr. on October 1st, 1924 in Plains, Georgia. His mother was a Registered Nurse at a Sanitarium and his father was a General Store owner and peanut farmer. Because of his mother’s job he actually holds the distinction as being the first U.S. president who was birthed in a hospital. Even though his early life and upbringing was simple and southern, he developed a strong sense of social justice as a youth and aspired to become a politician in order to implement change. His goals were realized in 1963 when he was elected to the Georgia State Senate and then in 1971 when he was elected Governor of Georgia, and he became famous for being the first Georgia / Southern Governor to speak out against racial injustice and discrimination.
Unfortunately this “fame” did not extend beyond the borders of Georgia and when he decided to run for President in 1974, he quickly became known as “Jimmy Who?” by his opponents and the media outlets. This wasn’t a slight, it was just a fact, that as a Peanut farm and local Georgia politician, he was relatively unknown to the rest of the world. But he formed a large Grass Roots campaign and would talk to any and every one about himself and his campaign. Instead of big gala dinner events, he would be found campaigning on street corners and local radio stations all around the country. And his friends and family formed the “Peanut Brigade” and travelled to small towns nationwide to spread the word of who Jimmy Carter really is and the values he represented. During the campaign, Carter told audiences, "I'll never tell a lie. I'll never make a misleading statement. I'll never betray the trust of those who have confidence in me, and I will never avoid a controversial issue." With the country
12
recovering from the scandals of Watergate and government mistrust over the United States’ involvement in the Vietnam War, a “Honest, Dependable, Hard-working peanut farmer was exactly what America wanted in lieu of career politicians. When Carter took office, the country was in a severe economic recession, and there was a major energy shortage. This led to a lot of discontent even though it was something he had inherited it still scarred his presidential record. Something else that marred his term was the Iran Hostage Crisis where the Embassy in Iran was captured and held hostage by Iranian militants. The crisis lasted for two years until Ronald Reagan took office the next term. The shining spots on Carter’s history were his efforts for peace. He was the champion of the Camp David Accords, where Israel and Egypt’s leaders met at Camp David and brokered a peace agreement.
RED INK MAGAZINE
He also worked on efforts to regulate and limit Nuclear weapons and he gave control of the Panama Canal back to Panama. This push for global peace and prosperity is something that later defined Jimmy Carter long after his Presidency ended. Immediately after his term ended, he and his wife formed the Carter Center a foundation that he worked hands on with and actively supported Habitat for Humanity and education and Disease Eradication efforts globally in the world’s poorest regions. Peace was the primary goal of President Jimmy Carter for his entire life and he was quoted, “War may sometimes be a necessary evil, but no matter how necessary, it is always evil, never a good. We will not learn how to live together in peace by killing each other's children.” And even after he no longer had political authority he travelled to meet with many world leaders that were considered “Persona non grata” and were not considered by the U.S. government because of their histories. Examples of this are meetings he held to talk about peace with the leaders of North Korea, Nicaragua, and Cuba. He received much criticism for having contact with military despots like these, however, he firmly believed that peace could be negotiated with words and not threats and he never
gave up on that ideology. In 2002 Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize, something that was much deserved and should have probably been granted at the time he brokered Peace between Israel and Egypt. But at least his lifelong efforts did not go unnoticed. Many Presidents and politicians over the years have equally criticized Jimmy Carter for being too soft and even naïve in his efforts, and praised him for his undying commitment to Peace and salvation for all. His efforts for Habitat for Humanity in particular were something that became his most recognizable public action. He was often seen personally, with a hard hat and hammer in hand at Habitat sites all over the world, whenever he had spare time. President Jimmy Carter was a simple man with a grand plan of seeing a truly peaceful Earth. His efforts will live on forever in the hearts of the people he saved and helped and the countless others that will be helped in the future through his organizations. Jimmy Carter, the longest lived American President, died on December 29th, 2024 at the age of 100. President Carter, you lived an amazing life, full of grace and integrity and your heart was bigger than anything, you will forever be remembered fondly and missed dearly. May you rest eternally in peace. By Michael Devine

DAYLE HADDON Supermodel / Actress died at 76
D
ayle Haddon was born May 26th, 1948, in Montreal, Canada. She was one of the top Supermodels in the world in the 70’s, and 80’s and became the face of anti-aging cosmetics in the 90’s and 2000’s. She started modelling as a child as a way to pay for Ballet Classes. At the age of 13, she was accepted as a member of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, the famous Canadian ballet troupe. And in 1966 her modelling career really took off as she earned the title of Miss Montreal. Later in the 1970’s and 1980’s she was the face of Max Factor, Revlon and Estee Lauder cosmetics. 1973 was her year of stardom when she graced the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue in January 1973 and then she was featured in Playboy magazine in April 1973. She was also featured twice as one of the top 10 most beautiful women in the world Harper’s Bazaar. During this 20 year spree she also entered the world of Hollywood, appearing in Disney’s The World's Greatest Athlete, Madame Claude, North Dallas Forty (co-starring with Nick Nolte), Cyborg (c-starring with Jean-Claude Van Damme) and also having a starring role in Spermula (a cult classic “B-movie”). Miss Haddon has a total of twenty-five credits for various TV shows and movies. But like many people in the industry sometimes life gets in the way of a blossoming career. In the late 70’s Dayle took a step back from modelling and then in the 80s took a step back from acting to be there to raise her daughter, Ryan. And then in 1991, after her hus
14
band was murdered and she ran into financial hardship, Dayle did something that was considered unfathomable at the time. She broke back in to the fashion and modelling industry at the “ancient” age of 38. At the time most “supermodels” were forced into retirement in some way or another by their early 30’s. At the age of 38, it was an uphill battle, but ultimately became a game changer for the entire industry. Haddon was rebuffed at first by all of her old contacts but she persevered and continued to call everyone she knew in the modelling and fashion world to pitch them the idea of using older women that had retained their beauty and youthful appearance to sell “anti-aging” cosmetic products and serums targeting that older demographic. Through her efforts, the anti-aging and “silver fox” cosmetics markets emerged. Her break-in occurred when she landed a contract first with Clairol and shortly after she landed contracts with L’Oréal and Estee Lauder again, and she became the face of their “Boomer” targeted cosmetic lines. For the next 10 years she was the most famous super model in the world over the age of 40. Modeling and acting was not all Dayle Haddon was known for. She was also a champion for girls and women all around the world. She founded the organization WomenOne which provided scholarships and opportunities to oppressed women all over the world, including Kenya, Rwanda and various other places across Africa and the Middle East, where opportunities for women were often not just overlooked, but outright forbidden. The motto for the organization was “Changing the world, one woman at a time.”
RED INK MAGAZINE
Dayle Haddon died unexpectedly while visiting her daughter’s home due to an unexpected carbon monoxide leak on December 27th, 2024. It was an unfortunate accident, but even in death some good will come from this, because carbon monoxide is serious concern for all families, but the press surrounding this high profile passing is re-igniting the message to keep carbon monoxide detectors installed and with fresh batteries. This trailblazer truly changed the modelling world forever by opening the door for older models and has changed hundreds of lives of younger girls and women around the world by giving them opportunities that they never would have had otherwise. Not only will you be remembered forever for your beauty and acting talent, but for the changes that you have permanently imprinted upon the world. Dayle Haddon, your life was taken by surprise but you will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace. By Michael Devine

MADI SIMMONS Tribute to a Veteran Reggae Indie Artist
W
hen I begin working with an artist, they quickly become family. Through weeks of conversations, collaborations, and shared experiences, bonds form that go beyond professional connections. I started working with veteran reggae artist Madi Simmons in 2021, and from the very beginning, I knew he was someone extraordinary. It didn't take long for him to become an essential part of my life. Madi had a way of reaching out almost every day— whether it was to "check in," ask for feedback on a song, or share his thoughts on politics and the state of the world. Those conversations often sparked ideas for his music, as his creativity was deeply intertwined with his observations and reflections. Thankfully, we saw eye-to-eye on most things, so our discussions flowed effortlessly. When Madi shared that he wasn't feeling well, I wasn't prepared for how swiftly cancer would take him away. "Hailing from the United States, Madi Simmons entered the performing scene at the age of 16. He started out playing the drums, songwriting, and singing. Throughout his life, Madi's key musical influences have been Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, John Bonham (Drummer), Bob Marley, and Peter Tosh, and that's just to name a few. There are many other influences that you can hear in his voice.
18
RED INK MAGAZINE
Madi has a wide musical range and can send your mind to a nostalgic place......with vibes that remind us of Black Uhuru and a voice that combines Gregory Issac, Peter Tosh, and Dennis Brown into one, Madi Simmons is still pushing out his sweet reggae music. Mainly known for playing drums and having a strong vocal delivery, Madi learned over the years to perfect that one drop among other styles, though, as you will hear, his preference is to use his voice.
He has toured quite a bit in the last 20 years, performing on stages from the Pacific Northwest, California, Hawaii, and the Midwest to the West Coast. Madi has appeared at major events such as Cougar Mountain Fest, Benbow Summer Art Fair, Unity Fest, North Country Fair, and even Reggae On The River as an Emcee and performer. Now, he is sparking interest in Europe and other parts of the world. Continued on page 20

Madi was also voted best indie artist on two different showcases, Review Indie http://reviewindie.com/2021/05/madi-simmons-isan-award-winning-reggae-singer-songwriter/ and Top Indie Artist 2018 on Shyrick Radio Madi Simmons has a catalog of albums dating back many years including Get You Some 2005, One Love EP 2008, Reggae Against Landmines Volume 1 2011, Reggae Against Landmines Volume 2 2011, Reggae Against Landmines, Vol. 3 EP 2012 My Time Is Now - EP 2012, A Time For Love - EP 2012, Dread & Alive Kindah, Vol. 4 2012 Madi Simmons continues to “speak to you through the music” on current issues that touch his heart." During one of our many heartfelt conversations, Madi once confided in me that he didn't believe he would ever achieve true fame in his lifetime. He speculated that recognition might come only after he was gone. What he didn't realize was just how deeply he had already touched so many lives. In the hours following the announcement of his passing, my phone was flooded with calls and messages from people sharing their grief and recounting their personal stories about Madi. They spoke of his compassion, his willingness to share his own struggles to uplift others, and his daily calls to check in on those who were sick, grieving, or simply in need of encouragement. I had the privilege of spending time with Madi at the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival in 2023 and Reggae On The River in 2024—two festivals where he had performed and served as an MC in previous years. The love and respect he received from everyone he encountered at these events spoke volumes about the kind of person he was. Madi, your presence will be deeply missed. It was a true honor to work alongside you and call you a friend. Until we meet again, rest easy, my brother. By Jen Cheshire Reggaewerx PR LLC reggaewerx@reggaewerx.com 20 20
