BON JOVI Amalie Arena Tampa Florida 2022

on Jovi is in the middle of his 2022 Tour and Red Ink was Front and Center in the VIP of the Amalie Arena show in Tampa Florida on Friday April 15th. Although any news or social media search will tell you that this tour is not Bon Jovi’s best showing, we can say first hand that the show was still great and full of high kicks and great music and we are grateful that we were able to share the experience. Bon Jovi himself seemed to be having some minor 4

vocal issues and seemingly for that reason did not perform some of his biggest hits that fans were hoping to hear, including Wanted Dead or Alive or Runaway. But, that being said, The show was super high energy, the band was on point and Bon Jovi physically looked like he had tapped into the fountain of youth, dancing, jumping and high kicking all over the stage. Even if his voice may not be as incredible as it once was, Bon jovi’s energy and stage performance were on point. Continued...on page 8

One thing that can always be said about a Bon Jovi concert is that the house will always be sold out and packed regardless of the size of the venue. Amalie arena was packed to the gills with a full capacity of screaming fans, over 20,000. And I can say the vibe of the crowd was exactly what you would expect of a Bon Jovi concert, nothing but love and respect. And about these fans, the range of people was astounding, there were children as young as 6 or 7 and adults up into their 80s and 90s all singing along and enjoying the timeless music that is Bon Jovi. And to be fair Bon Jovi is not just a one man show, his band is as much “Bon Jovi” as Bon Jovi himself and the band did not disappoint. Sambora’s replacement Phil X wowed the crowds with his rip guitar solos and the music and sound from the rest of the band was everything it was expected to be; Incredible.

JOURNEY Faithfully Rocks Out Classics for Orlando FL Fans On “Freedom” Tour 2022 @ Amway Center

ed Ink Magazine has had the pleasure of seeing hundreds of bands and artists perform all around the world, and I can say with absolute honor that the show we just saw with Journey and Toto at the Amway Center in Orlando, FL on Thursday April 21st was one of the best overall performances that we have ever seen. Journey has been rocking out since 1973 and since 2007 with their current lead singer Arnel Pineda and all I can say is that Journey is aging like a fine wine and only getting better with time. The show was intense, ultra-high energy and the vocals were as point perfect as they could ever be. The Journey Freedom Tour 2022 truly set me and the rest of the packed house free. Being a Journey fan since the 80’s and hearing and loving the band through their original vocalist and their newer vocalist I can say that Arnel Pineda truly does the original sound justice. His voice and range are incredible and his high energy moves and jumps and kicks are exactly what is needed for such an incredible and iconic band. And the best thing about Journey is that they are not a lead singer centered band, in fact they do something that not many bands do; they give each and every member a chance to bask in the spotlight. Throughout the performance each band member was individually introduced and given an opportunity to lead 12

a song most through music and vocals and some with intense piano, keyboard and guitar solos that made your hair stand up on end. And each member is an outright star in their own right. This group is made up of some of the most talented musicians that the world has to offer and they are all in one place. The Crowd at Amway center was full of energy too, with so much audience participation being encouraged by Pineda, who pointed the microphone at the crowd

almost as much as he did towards his own mouth; but that just goes to show how much Journey is adored by its fans. This concert performance was like a Greatest hits countdown, with every fan favorite song being performed perfectly and with all 20,000 fans fans packed into the Amway Center, singing along and knowing every word of every song. It was Kismet; the perfect combination of great fans and a Band that is truly one of the Legends of Rock. A better show could not have been possible under any circumstances. With all of the fan favorites Don’t Stop Believin’, Wheel in the Sky, When You Love a Woman, Any Way You Want it, Separate Ways and Faithfully being played back to back the energy in the crowd just continued to grow until the roof literally blew off the arena. Not to mention after the last note belted out, the biggest confetti and paper canon ever, shot off a huge mass of craziness that I am sure the Amway Center is still cleaning off the ceiling Lights and speakers. The show was incredible, Journey your tour has received rave reviews and this is just one more of many more to come. As I said before Journey is like a fine wine and is truly still in its Prime even almost 50 years into its life. We already can’t wait for your next tour to come to Florida so we can come again and this time bring our 8 year old daughter with us to show her what a Rock concert is supposed to be like. She is already a huge fan in her own right and we can’t wait to share the next magical and incredible Journey concert with her. Red Ink is truly a fan forever and Fatihfully yours. TOTO Opened for Journey’s Freedom Tour 2022

conic band TOTO opened up for Journey at the

Amway Center as a part of the Freedom Tour 2022 and absolutely shared the spotlight with Journey. TOTO is one of those bands that has such an iconic tone and sound that you could recognize it anywhere. And as a fortunate note to all TOTO fans lucky enough to enjoy the tour, Original vocalists Steve Lukather and Joseph Williams were in their absolute prime on stage with their newer band mates and the sound was awesome. TOTO became a last minute addition to the Freedom Tour with Journey right before the tour began; after Billy Idol fell ill with a serious sinus infection requiring medical intervention. And what a perfect addition it has been. TOTO came out with the same high-energy that Journey continued to exude later in the evening and was definitely more than just a show starter. They made the Freedom Tour turn into something more like a Music Fest. With The entire three and half hour concert split between these two juggernauts of Legendary Rock Groups keeping fans on their feet and song in their mouths for the entire time. Red Ink was front and center in the VIP section of this concert and definitely felt the huge music and energy beaming from the stage speakers. Then the incredible voices of the Lukather and Williams came ringing out during some of TOTO’s most famous songs, and of course once Africa started the entire Arena at The Amway Center turned into one giant sing-along. And TOTO did not disappoint, not for a single note. The music from the band was incredible and the performance and stage presence, from the lead singers and guitarists, was awesome. The melding of TOTO with Journey into one concert was something that turned into a dream come true concert for the fans in Orlando and all of the other venues on the tour lineup. This event, the Journey and TOTO Freedom Tour 2022 was the best show and overall performance that I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Congratulations to the bands and I hope the rest of the tour continues to impress across the country. You guys Rock and are truly still in the Prime of your careers. By Michael Devine u 18

tlanta, GA (Sonique Solutions) – As excitement builds for the 35th annual ‘Atlanta Caribbean Carnival’ the event has received even more mainstream attention with the news that Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney, Fani Willis will join Vincentian Soca Star Skinny Fabulous as a co-Grand Marshall of the beloved Memorial Day Weekend affair. The Atlanta Caribbean Carnival which is produced by the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival Bandleaders Association (ACCBA) and takes place from May 27th30th 2022 is a substantial revenue generator for the city of Atlanta. The weekend event is a true display of Caribbean culture in the metro-Atlanta area. Both Skinny and D.A. Willis are highly regarded in their respective fields of Entertainment and Politics and will add value and prestige by their presence at the already highly anticipated event. With regards to having these two notable public figures involved in the upcoming Carnival celebrations, ACCBA President Patricia Henry stated, “It’s an awesome feeling to have both these trailblazers as Grand Marshalls! I have been working with Skinny Fabulous for over 15 years, he’s a fantastic entertainer and he brings a lot to the Caribbean art form. Having a powerful artiste like Skinny alongside the ground-breaking Fani Willis, the first black woman to ever serve as Fulton County District Attorney is amazing for the festival.”

On the topic of the role Atlanta Caribbean Carnival plays in the international promotion of Caribbean culture, she shared, “It plays a very important role in international promotion; during this festival we recognize our artistes who have played a major role in the Soca arena and have yet to be recognized. She continued, “Each year we celebrate a different Caribbean Island and we present the top performer in that island with a proclamation award, hence the reason why we are honouring St. Vincent & The Grenadines’ Skinny Fabulous and making him our Grand Marshal.” During the weekend of festivities Skinny Fabulous (real name Gamal Doyle) will also be honoured with a proclamation by the city of Atlanta along with Jamaican Reggae singer, actress, model, and brand ambassador Michelle

Downer aka D’Angel, community activist, political candidate and star of Bravo TV’s ‘In A Man’s World’, Le’Dor Milteer and Mychal Pickens of the Schneider National Foundation Inc. Most notably, adding to the plethora of sponsors for 2022’s edition, Publix Super Markets has come onboard as sponsor for the festival, marking the first time that a major US super market chain has sponsored a Caribbean event in that market. SC: I love love love fashion, so I always wanted to be a designer. REDINK: Do you have a favorite collection that you are most proud of? If yes, which one? SC: Everything I design or create is my favorite. REDINK: Tell us some of your struggles and triumphs you had in your journey. SC: I had many ups and downs through out my journey. There was always someone telling me "ohh you can't do this alone" However I'm still here and going 24

Healthy Eating AT THE HEART OF THE MATTER

ello again RED INK foodies! In this issue we hope you enjoy our wonderful recipe selection for this month. We are always happy to share with our readers a fun recipe for you to try. Enjoy!

Instructions: Step 1 Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Peel and cut the potatoes into 1-inch cubes. Step 2 Bring a medium pot with potatoes, 8 cups of water, and 2 teaspoons of salt to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook until easily pierced—about 18 to 20 minutes. Step 3 Drain potatoes in a colander. Place back in the pot. Add sour cream, butter, a pinch of chives, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Mash until smooth. Step 4 Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, pot roast seasoning, and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a mixing bowl. Divide and roll the mixture into six golf ball-sized meatballs. Step 5 Heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs to the hot pan and stir often until browned on all sides, 4-6 minutes. Remove them from the stove. Step 6 Place the meatballs on a prepared baking sheet. Roast them in a hot oven until the meatballs reach a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees F, around 10 to 12 minutes. Step 7 While the meatballs roast, make the sauce in a small bowl by stirring cornstarch and water until they are combined. Return the pan used to sear the meatballs to medium-high heat. Step 8 Add the beef demi-glace and cornstarch-water mixture to the pan and bring to a boil. Remove the pan from the burner. Step 9 Serve the meatballs and spoon the sauce over them, garnishing the mash with the remaining chives.

Ingredients:• • 6 chive sprigs • 2 russet potatoes • 2 ounces sour cream • 1/3 ounce butter • 1 tablespoon cornstarch • 10 ounces ground beef • 1/4 cup Italian breadcrumbs • 1 1/2 teaspoons pot roast seasoning • 4 teaspoons beef flavor demi-glace concentrate
