L.A.B
Formed
in New Zealand, multi-award winning and platinum selling band L.A.B. play a seamless mix of reggae, rock, blues, elec tronica and funk. After releasing five albums in five years, the band have cemented them selves on the NZ charts, with ‘In The Air’ and ‘Why Oh Why’ both reaching Number One and remaining in the charts for over three years.
L.A.B return with a brand new remix album L.A.B In Dub. The ten-track album features an array of dubbedout L.A.B remixes by Italian producer & remixer Paolo Baldini DubFiles. Eight tracks are also accompanied by a Live Mixdown Video.
Bassist, producer, engineer and sonic visionary Paolo Baldini hails from Pordenone, Northeast Italy. He has been a member of the groups BR Stylers, Africa United and THE DUB SYNC, and currently records and tours as Paolo Baldini Dubfiles and Dolomites Rockers. He is the in-house producer for Italian reggae stars Mellow Mood.
"The main ingredient for a good dub album, before a dub master, is proper songwriting. I am extremely
thankful to L.A.B for giving me the opportunity to work on these super tunes that perfectly represent the soulful nature of reggae music from the southern hemisphere, and for letting me to add my personal touch and re-inter pret them in a dub fashion!"
- Paolo Baldini
With the tracks hand picked from L.A.B’s catalogue, L.A.B In Dub see’s Baldini bring a new light with his dubbed-out versions. Combining a range of L.A.B’s eclectic sounds including funk-inspired tune ‘Fashion Dread’ and reggae-pop fan favourite ‘Why Oh Why’, the album sees Baldini bring his signature dub-filtered sound, approaching each track with his analogue tech niques inspired by Jamaican pioneers King Tubby and Scientist.
This collection of tracks has been lovingly crafted by Baldini at his Alambic Conspiracy Studio in San Foca, Italy. Each dub has been created live in the studio, with Baldini working live on the stems of each track. These new versions are all created in one take with no over dubs or edits, creating entirely new versions.
RED INK MAGAZINE 8
L.A.B won best record at the Rolling Stone New Zealand Awards 2022
Following on from multiple number one singles & albums, alongside a growing list of platinum sales & awards across New Zealand & Australia, this is the band's first ever full length remix album in collaboration with Loop and German-based Dub-focused label Echo Beach, further cementing L.A.B as one of NZ’s hardest working acts. This is a project which has been in the works for a number of years, and has continued to expand as L.A.B’s catalogue has grown. With an extensive catalogue both performing in reggae & dub outfits and composing his own originals, Paolo Baldini has been a key figure in the Italian reggae dub scene for over 20 years. Through his collaborations with artists and time with bands such as Italian reggae-royalty Africa Unite, he has immersed himself in the dub sound and culture. Under his DubFiles moniker, he has released many collaborations, solo albums & even a film score. L.A.B In Dub sees Baldini adding his spin on dub to an eclectic range of 10 originals from L.A.B. Given the blessing of the band, Baldini took his pick from L.A.B’s catalogue, one which includes number one sin gles & multi-platinum tracks. However, the resulting col
lection combines some deeper cuts from the catalogue with some of the more well-known tracks. Staples of their unmatched live set such as ‘Baby Will You Let Me’ and ‘Rocketship’ appear, alongside tracks like ‘Like Fire’ and ‘Running’ which have never been performed live. A lovingly crafted release inspired and driven by the dub sound that serves as a constant inspiration, L.A.B In Dub is a special album made not only for dub lovers, but also one which will look to bring new fans to the way of the dub. https://youtu.be/PXM47dZDCdQ

PAUL FOX AND APACHE INDIAN SHARE THE SAME BLOOD
Twolegends of reggae music collaborate for the first time on a song about their common humanity. PAUL FOX AND APACHE INDIAN SHARE THE SAME BLOOD
Veteran UK roots reggae singer Paul Fox and leg endary UK dancehall deejay Apache Indian have joined forces for the song Same Blood. The title track from Fox's current album, Same Blood is a call for unity in these fragmented times, reminding us that inside, we are all one.
Both artists had been aware of each other’s work since they came to attention in the 1990s. They first suggested a collaboration back in 1993 when Fox interviewed Apache for a cable TV channel. A link up on Instagram nearly twenty years later resulted in the recording of Same Blood - featuring backing vocals from Paul's wife, Helen Fox.
"The lyrics are about the fact that we are all Homo Sapiens" says Fox "and there are no more specific scientific classifications of life below the
species level… meaning we really are all the same blood."
"I first heard Paul's music over 20 years ago and always wanted to work with him" says Apache "Nothing comes before the time. Just the title alone ‘Same Blood’ says so much, it didn’t need much explaining for me to start writing my parts. This will always be one of the songs on my playlist because of its simplicity, its depth and its meaning."
Born in Handsworth, Birmingham, Apache Indian has been active in reggae music since the early 1980s. He found fame as a dancehall deejay in 1993 with the hit song Boom Shack-A-Lak written for the iconic soundtrack to Dumb & Dumber reaching number 5 in the UK singles chart. This year Apache Indian performed at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony alongside Dexys Midnight Runners, Jaykae, Musical Youth and UB40.
Inspired by the 80s UK roots reggae sound system revival led by Jah Shaka, Paul Fox cut his first tunes in the early 90’s on his own Sound Business label,

MAKEIBA
JAMES – (Afiya M Wilson), formerly Afee-The Artistwas born in Port of Spain Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies and is a professional entertainer (singer/ songwriter/ actress/artist/model/author/ entrepreneur) who migrated to the US in 2005. She has been in the entertainment business since 2010, after losing every thing and deciding to work on her creative abilities as a form of self-therapy. She began by doing covers on You Tube to the classics she grew up idolizing for fun, until one day someone made fun of her for not making her own music. She took that as a challenge- not an insult! She began writing music, which came naturally and, she wrote her first song “The Love Anthem”. After see ing how the recording process was done, she taught her self how to use Pro Tools and began recording and edit ing her own music. This led to a string of reggae songs that she would perform at various events in and around Brooklyn and the greater New York area.
In her debut season Makeiba James was involved in the local reggae circuit in the NY Area, opening for bands like The New Kingston band, and performed on stage alongside legends like Luciano-The Messenger and Ed Robinson. Her talents have taken her to many different cities including Atlanta, New Jersey, and Canada.
The exposure introduced her to more creative types and soon she was auditioning for movies, web series, plays and short films, landing extra roles in CBS’ Blue Bloods & Chris Rock’s film TOP FIVE. She went on to be quite busy working in a few web series in New Jersey with the filmmakers of the Jersey Area. You can see her in shows like Risk: The life of Floyd and Sabrina (Godson Entertainment) and The Bottoum (Randy J. Jackson), American Dreamer, Dammit Man and The City (Cash Cow Films), in 3 independent movies that have premiered in movie theatres in New Jersey.

LESLEY JORDAN
LeslieAllen Jordan was born April 29, 1955 in Chattanooga, TN and he died tragically in a car accident on October 24, 2022, at the age of 67. Reports say that he may have suffered a medical emergency before crashing his car in Los Angeles while on his way to film scenes on the set of Call me Kat. Leslie was a beautiful light of a man whom was diminutive in stature but grandiose in heart. For the last 30 years he has been entertaining the masses in dozens of movies and nearly a hundred television shows.
He got his acting break in 1989 with a recurring role on The Murphy Brown Show. And after that his effeminate ways and small stature turned out to be comedy gold and he shined in every role for the rest of his career. He was a beacon for the gay commu
nity as well, because he was very openly gay and very effeminate in his nature and mannerisms; however he never tried to hide who he was and he was open in all of his roles. He made sure to embrace who he was and let his light shine through, this led to him being idolized by many in the gay thespian community. He was an icon and an inspiration to LGBTQ actors and actresses everywhere; because of his openness and his commitment to let his true nature permeate every role he was given.
He was also an inspiration because of his upbring ing. Being raised in a Baptist military family in the south where being gay was considered a sin by his community and family was difficult and yet he per severed and became a symbol of love in the gay community and was recognized the world around for being himself.

Emmy-winning actor, writer & singer, died at age 67 in car crash
He was an avid advocate for the LGBTQ commu nity as well, especially when it came to promoting openness and awareness in the south.
For Leslie, the goal of all he did was to make people smile and feel the warmth of his heart. This became even more apparent during the Covid-19 pandemic where he began a daily Instagram show that was simply him trying to make the world smile by comedically reflecting on everything that was going on around us during that difficult time. He became a cult sensation with an Instagram account that has since amassed 5.8 Million followers.
Leslie Jordan won an Emmy for his role on the hit show Will and Grace and also in 2021, Jordan received GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics' Timeless Star award. He was
loved by everyone gay and straight alike. He was one of those people whose light could brighten any one’s day. Leslie co-starred in the running show Call me Kat and played characters in multiple sea sons on of American Horror Story. Just to name a few of his highlights. And in 2021 he stepped out side his box a little bit and embraced some of his Baptist roots when he recorded and released a Gospel music album titled Company's Comin'. Leslie Allen Jordan, your sunshine bright light was dimmed far too soon. Your message of love and inspiration will live on forever and your dissemina tion of laughter and happiness will continue to spread as long as the television airwaves continue to flow. You will be missed and may you rest in peace. By Michael Devine u

Her work has been seen at London Fashion Week Caribbean Fashion Week and NY Fashion Week. She was a top three finalist on A Critique with Tim Gunn for Project Runway.
According to The Navajo Water Project, 30% of Navajo families live without run ning water. Incredibly, they are 67 times more likely than other Americans to live without running water or a toilet. Nalgene Outdoor partnered with Redhair in 2020 to create the first artist-designed, limited-edi tion bottle for the NWF. After record sales and multiple rounds of reprints, the NWF has donated nearly $80,000, to date, to two nonprofit partners on the Navajo Nation that work to make safe drinking water more accessible, DigDeep and Community Outreach and Patient Empowerment (COPE).
“I’m so pleased that my passion for design can educate so many people out side of the Navajo Nation about the essential role of water in our culture and continue to help raise funds toward improving access to clean water for our people,” says Redhair, age 22, an accom plished Navajo artist and recent Stanford University graduate, born for the Jemez Clan.
