A WORD FROM THE UMPIRING DEPARTMENTS J O E L PAG E , H E A D U M P I R I N G C OAC H In early March 2021, I was handed the keys to the Tyntynder clubrooms after being appointed the Head Umpiring Coach. I arrived an hour early and opened the rooms for the first training session after the longest pre-season on record. Once I worked out the ground lighting and the alarm, I started putting cones out on the oval for the warm-up drill, not knowing which umpires would be returning for 2021. The training session did not go for long, but we managed to get back out there and have a run. It was great to see those familiar faces and welcoming the new umpires to the group. After the first training session it became evident that we were going to be short of umpires, numbers had dropped from the 2019 season and there were very few new registrations. The following few weeks I scrambled to try and get
numbers up to make sure we could appoint the minimum 104 umpires for football each week. It became a realization that we could not fill all appointments without the help of the football and netball clubs of both competitions. Central Rivers Umpires soon started receiving new registrations of boundary goals and field umpires because of clubs stepping up, I would like to thank the clubs for your efforts in the recruitment of new umpires. If you are reading this and are interested in umpiring, I encourage you to give it a shot. You get paid decent money for it, and it is a fast way to get fit and healthy. You will also learn a new appreciation for how difficult umpiring can be. Finally, I would like to thank the entire umpiring group for your effort and dedication for the season thus far. At times, umpiring can be a thankless task but all of you are doing an amazing job. With finals not that far away, keep putting in those efforts and you will be rewarded at the back end of the season.
CENTRAL RIVERS NETBALL UMPIRE COMMITTEE The Central Rivers Netball Umpire Committee and Sponsor Ross Andrews Builder would like to thank each umpire in the Golden Rivers and Central Murray Netball Leagues for sharing their time, expertise, knowledge and skills to support the netball competitions. Netball umpiring isn’t really about enforcing rules. It’s an integral part of the league and netball community. Umpires help keep the game safe, fair and fun for everyone. Not to mention developing personal skills like communication, resilience and leadership which our umpires continue to find time to further develop on and off the court.

To everyone who is an umpire, thank you. And for those who are not, get on board. Umpiring is rewarding, essential to the game and a great way to be involved.

TYNTYNDER J U N E 26 VS K E R A N G It’s hard to believe that at the end of June we are hosting just our third home game of the season. Welcome to Kerang for what is a much awaited return to field and netball courts for our Bulldogs. During the pause, our juniors were the stars of the show a few weeks back, taking centre stage at Lalbert in foggy conditions. We were grateful to see our juniors get a game in. Stick around tonight and have a catchup with everyone after too long away from the Kennel. Good luck to everyone today against Kerang. Goods and Services Auction has been moved to next weekend after the Nyah game. Head to our Facebook page for updated social calendar. Football 12/06/2021 Under 12s Blakey is so proud of these boys. In tough, cold conditions, and missing a few players they turned up to play, with ears pinned back, they made it difficult for their Eagles opponents. Fantastic tackling boys. KERANG J U N E 26 VS T Y N T Y N D E R It was great to have footy back after another enforced lay off. Hopefully we have a clean run for the rest of the season. This week we make the trip up to Swan Hill to face Tyntynder in what promises to be another day of exciting Football and Netball Matches. Under 14.5’s So proud of the boys today and the way they played as a team. Second efforts and hard at the footy was great to see. Awards: Harvey Macri, Hugh Bremner, Leigham McAlpin, Jackson Brady, Josiah Johnston-Wyntjas, Logan Gibson, Cooper Meehan Colts: A tough and physical game between two top 4 sides. Scores were close all day but our boys were too strong in the end and finished strongly. Awards: Nick Murray, Lachlan Somerville, Tyson Clingan, Rhys Lee, Brodie Meehan, Kon-rad Walters, Rylan Hall Reserves: Another convincing win by the young developing reserves side. Making it two 100+ point wins in a row. Great team effort by all and with quite a few quality players still missing from the side. Awards: Harry Saunders, Cody Tuohey, Riley Keighran, Nick Pay, Alex Lloyd. Seniors: Our Senior boys came up against a fired
up and hungry eagles team and were on the backfoot for the first half of the game. Down by 6 Goals at the long break. After the break it was all Kerang Kicking 10 goals to 2 for the second half. The Eagles had no answer and tried everything in their power to stop the Blues Juggernaut from flexing their muscle.

B Grade Girls started well in the 1st quarter, keeping up with Lalbert. Lalbert came away in the next 3 quarters to win. Phoebe Hall best player for today. Award: Phoebe Hall
3 Votes: Sean Hunter, 2 Votes: Jack Daglish, 1 Vote: Troy Coates. Netball Under 12’s It was great to see you all working hard and chasing any loose balls. Keep working hard and listening to your coaches. Awards: Lily Wise, Chloe Meehan, Racheal Peacock, and Carla Peacock. Under 14’s Had a bit of a panic in the 2nd quarter when there was only 1 goal in it, but our girls settled and defence mode kicked in and the girls played their own game. Awards: Joli Robert-son, Kobie Waddingham, Hallie Murphy, Jamison Wise, and Alli Hunter. Under 16’s Fantastic game by all the girls today. Training on Thursday night paid off today. Team work was the best so far. This week’s awards went to; Courtney Gibson, Trinity Burger, Gabi Davis and Ebony Hipworth.
B Res Well done girls, we were in the game until half time. Too much stepping, bad passing and breaking. Awesome game from Elsie and Amiliah. Keep your heads up. Awards: Elsie Bremner and Amiliah Jurisic
A Res Mallee Eagles are a strong side so it was tough to come back after a few weeks off to verse them. First two quarters weren’t our best, but our last half of the game was by far our best. We really dug deep and showed our true team spirit in the last quarter. Awards: Graecen Cartwright and Hannah Spencer. A Grade A very strong consistent game. Great leadership by Tahni, strong coaching from Emma P. Congrats to Rani and Bree playing a strong quarter each. A physical, high pressure team game. Awards: Emma Wright and Katelyn Wright.

LAKE BOGA J U N E 26 VS BA L R A N A L D MAGPIE NATION
A Res – LB 37 d NNWU 32
As we get back into Senior grades of sport, the weekend was filled with optimism.
This was a fantastic game with the girls leading by just one goal at half time setting it up for a tight second half. Both teams scored 8 goals each in the third term and it was the last quarter we were able to apply the pressure to win by 5.
However a mixed bag of results was again what spectators witnessed in both football and netball. U12’s- Another great win with the team singing the theme song long and proud. Top performers were, from an overall team performance, Axel Kirsten, Jarrah Kelly, Tyler Arnett, TC Colville, Young Snake U14.5’s- Battled it out all day against formidable opposition and were not disgraced but ended up brave losers. Best were, Archer Hartland, Max O’Reilly, Gus Tonkin, Harry Bryan, Noah Noble, Harry Brown, Cassidy Dunn & Zac Palmer Colts- With players missing the colts kept the ball rolling with another solid and comprehensive victory. Best were, Plugger Bryan, Mullet O’Reilly, Young Rig, Little Pidge, Shirls and Burner. Reserves- Team was down of numbers with a few of the colts boys stepping in to propel the ship on a voyage to victory, but hit an ice berg in the shape of a demon ending in an admirable loss. Best were, Clarky (again), Macca, Rock Stewart, Gus Jones, Ben Trippy & Horse Seniors- Again competitive for first half, yet coming out of the rooms at half time without the zip to keep with the Demons. Only to again see a admirable last quarter end without the result we hoped. Best were, Johnno, Crooksy, Chicka, JT, RC Colville & Warney Netball Results A Grade – LB 65 d NNWU 41 The girls hit the court running and made a solid start to the game taking a 7 goal lead at the first break and continued to work hard to win the game by 24.
B Grade – LB 31 def by NNWU 48 Despite trying to put their best foot forward, the girls were unable to come away with the win as tried to reduce the margin at each break. Keep going girls and lets look to getting the job done this week. B Res – LB 32 def by NNWU 38 In a close encounter in the first quarter, we trailed by just 2, our girls had to make up some ground with the difference 6 at half time. And that what happened scoring 10 goals to 6 in the third going down by just 6. 16 & U – LB 67 d NNWU 17 The girls had their game face on as they took the court and applied pressure for four quarters. It great to see the girls keep working hard as they scored 21 goals in the third quarter. 14 & U – LB 44 d NNWU 19 All the girls worked hard and this showed in the final result with a very strong performance on the court. Well done girls. 12 & U – LB 24 d NNWU 8 A strong first quarter scoring 10-4 had our girls looking good from the start. And with some accurate shooting in the third quarter of 9-2, gave our girls the opportunity to celebrate. Another away game to Roo land, in more ways then one. Wishing everyone the best of luck and bring home the bacon.

BALRANALD J U N E 26 VS L A K E B O GA Good to be back on the football grounds and netball courts and we hope it continues. We had some mixed results in both the footy and netball games. Seniors: The boys had the wind in the first quarter and kicked 7 goals to 6 to take a narrow lead. Cohuna stepped up with the wind and took control of the game. Our fellows kept battling away but were not up to the Cohuna run on game. Our better players on the day were Jordan Wilkins, Josh Hodgson, Col Andrews, Cam Barrett, Connor Soraggi (Mug of the Day), Jarryd Stead, Ben Jones, Michael Graham, Jack Salau and Drew Lloyd. Reserves The Ressies finally had their day with a hard fought win and the team played some good football. The boys had not forgotten the team song as it rang around the clubrooms with great zesto. Better players were Marshall Bodinnar (mug of the Day), Seth Paton (BFC Cash), Donny James (BFC Cash), Corey Rivers (BFC Cash), Joe Joe Kantilla (BFC cash), Jake Lockhart, Ben Mahon and Ryan Lockhart. The Juniors: The Under 14’s battled hard after a month off and now will reset for next weeks game. Better players on the day were Bob Helgeland (Umpires award), Chase Militto (Coaches award), Harry Ross (Most improved), Seb Papa (Canteen award), Cruz Jolliffe (Subway) and Tyler Barrett (Pizza award). The Under 12’s had another great team game with great commitment from all players. Better players were Hamish Matarazzo (Umpire award), Lucas Griffiths (Coaches award), Luke Myers (Most Improved), Jordan Cimino (Canteen award), Archie Alderrucchio (Pizza award) and Billy Renfrey (Subway). Netballers: A Grade: (WON) Girls played a good 4 quarters to come away
with another win and it was great to be back out on the court after a few weeks off. A Res: (WON) Girls played a great game and backed each other until the end. Maddy Militto (P&T Gillbee) and Macy Lloyd (coaches cash). B Grade: (WON) After a slow start we came out and played our game and put the pressure on and got the win. Paris Jolliffe (LV Bodinnar) & Tara Hopkins (Balranald Motor Inn Cash). B Res: (Lost) A good effort against a strong side. Camilla McKindley (In The Garden voucher) Under 18’s: (WON) Another strong team effort saw the girls come away with a good win, although the score did not reflect the quality of the match that Cohuna played. Bonnie Jolliffe (Bakery voucher) and Molly Helgeland (Pizza voucher). Under 16’s: (Lost) The girls battled away all game. Grace Morton (Smithers Transport Cash) and Lani Wilkinson (Subway award). Under 14’s: (Lost) The girls played a great game and pushed the intensity right to the end but fell short. Isabella Papa (Moore’s Bus Lines cash) and Holly Haines (Subway voucher). Milestones: Jack Helgeland has made the Under 15’s Regional Boys Squad that will be pushing for the Pioneers Under 15’s. Social Scene: Last week - Can Assist Round and Jumper Auction - a great day for CanAssist and the Club. A big thanks to all that helped out on the day, to raise some big funds for CanAssist. Not sure where our awards will be held tonight as the hall is booked out for a private function. Elite Athletes Day (Big Bottle Day) – starts midday 18th July – dress up as your favourite athlete.

MALLEE EAGLES J U N E 26 VS WO O R I N E N Mallee Eagles Versus Kerang- Saturday June 19th 2021
FOOTBALL RESULTS
Our netballers had a great day out at Kerang. A Grade is sitting on top of the ladder. A Res, B Grade and B res are in 3rd position. Our juniors are not in the top 5 yet but all teams are starting to play very consistent netball. We will have some tough matches against Woorinen but bring it on!! A disappointing loss for our seniors after a great first half. I suppose the positive is that we know we can match it with the top teams we just have to improve our 4 quarter fitness. Our Seniors are sitting in 6th on the ladder, our Ressies in 8th, Colts in 4th and Under 14’s in 5th.
Under 12’s won by 7 goals. Coach Ryan said that we came out well in the first half and controlled the game. Second half saw another step up with great team footy and ball movement. It is very exciting to watch our potential future talent. Best Players: Archie McCombe, Tony Fishwick, Aiden Kennedy, Levi Plonkster, Saxon O’Meara, Hamish Credlin, Ryan Fraser
Social Events- This Saturday Meg, Kellie and Sonya have a great event planned for Ladies’ Day. Not only do the ladies get replaced in the canteen by the boys (boys check out the roster please) but we also get to play netball early then kick up our heels in the marquee from 3.00pm. There will be live music, fantastic prizes to be won and of course all money raised will go to Swan Hill District Health Cancer Services. NETBALL RESULTS: 6/7 wins!! A Grade won by 16 goals. Awards: Sonya Lorenzoni, Alicia Harvey A Res won by 14 goals. Awards: Sarah Young, Jac Mase B Grade won by 43 goals. Awards: Jo Farrant, Anna Kelly B Reserve won by 16 goals. Awards: Abbie Duffin, Emma Brown Our U 16 team won by 5 goals Awards: Neveah Roberts, Charli Ryder, Georgia Baird Under 14’s lost by 9 goals. Awards: Alix O’Meara, Mia Hansen Our U12’s won by 1 goal. Awards: Ava McCombe, Jade Peria, Amber Brown
Under 14.5’s won easily with the mercy rule in place. Coach Harry said It was a great 4 quarter performance. The skills are improving and some excellent passages of play. Best Players: Billy O’Meara, Brooklyn Whitla, Lachie Bull, Oscar Holland, Charlie Kingwill, Colts lost by 18 points. Coach Duck said that we were absolutely fantastic in our game. They did everything they were asked to do and more. Their willingness to help each other, as a good team should, was at the highest level it has been for the year. Great team effort but just fell short. Best Players were: Jake Watson, Hamish McGregor, Billy O’Meara, Jacob O’Meara, Harry McGregor, Mardy McDonald. Reserves lost 112:7 Coach Sam said the score line did not do justice to the boys ferocity and effort they showed for the full 4 quarters with no bench available. The boys are representing our club by showing utter grit and determination week in and week out so please get behind them. Best Players were: Darren Ash, Todd Day Henry, Aaron Gaut, Ben Shepherd, Ethan Alexander, Steven Jenkins, Toby Bookham, Josh Bibby Our seniors lost by 15 points. Best Players were: Toby Sheahan, Zac O’Meara, Darcy McGregor, Ayden Tessari, Wes Bennett and Brent Sheahan

time this season the U14’s had a good contest all game with the boys able to get some reward on the scoreboard for all their effort. Awards: JA Electrical – Rylee Taylor, Pearsons Grain – Julian Muir, West Farmers Insurance – Will Domaille, Subway – Seth Linford.
It was a tough day on the field for most of our footy teams at Swan Hill last week with the seniors battling hard all game against a strong swans outfit. Best players – Jack Mazzarella, Locky Gleeson, Jonathan Caccaviello, Ryan Domaille, Jack Spinks, Justin Cooper. Mallee Physio - Jonathan Caccaviello.
The U12’s once again all played their part highlighted by a couple of great goals from Chad & Jacob. Awards: GoFarm – Billy Kentish, Truck Specialist – Chad O’Sullivan, Pearsons Grain – Jules Muir, Subway – Callan Muir.
Even with the assistance of a few old favourites returning the ressies also found it hard going against another strong opponent. Awards: Tooleybuc Sporting Club – Nick Murphy, Swan Hill Packaging – John Chislett, Mallee Physio – Ayden Burness, Amaretto Almonds – James Summerhayes. The colts put in one of the best performances for the day with a really strong 4 quarter effort resulting in a 6 goal win. Awards: Mallee Physio - Ryan Domaille, WFI –Mackie Rogers, Sunrise Ag – Kal Hazlett, Pooles & Associates – Harper McNicol. With the assistance of a full 18 for the first
And the latest Manang Hotel Auskick award went to Will Grant. Netball Notes: After a few weeks off, all netballers were hungry to get back on the court. Our 12 and Under girls once again showed just how much they have been improving, as they focused on dodging and having hands over every ball. Tess Foley took some great intercepts. A fantastic team effort. It was a challenging game for the 14’s, with plenty of ups and downs. Nonetheless, they came away with a good win and areas in need of improvement have been highlighted. Awards to Jayda & Lucy,
What a game we witnessed in the 16’s! As the girls found their feet, worked together and increased their defensive pressure down the court, the game became their own, their determination and hard work gave them a 1 goal win. B Res started off with a BANG. However, due to injury, height and opposition with a lot of experience, the girls were faced with a very tough challenge. Award winners were Steph, Cindy and Sarah. It was always going to be a tough game for B Grade against top of the ladder Swan Hill. Our defensive pressure was good and everyone tried hard until the final siren. Award to Emma Gilbee for a great game in defence. Four tough and very impressive quarters from the A Res girls. A close first half, but Swan Hill’s speed and fitness made them the better team for the day. Awards to Kara for a fantastic effort in goals and Millie for fighting until the last whistle. Looking forward to building on this in the weeks to come. A bit of a slow start for A Grade after a few weeks off. The defensive end worked tirelessly all day. Awards to Taylen and Laura.

KOONDROOK BARHAM J U N E 26 VS TO O L EY BUC - M A N A N GATA N G RIVER RAIDERS RAMBLINGS Its been a few weeks since our last game & the club is excited to be back playing this weekend. Here is a reminder of our last weekend of footy & netball! Congrats, to Jack Lambert on playing his 50th game for the Raiders. Also to Rylan Attwell on playing his first senior game for the Raiders. As for the Senior game things went skewiff before the game even started with the withdrawal of one of our talls in Col Mc Veigh, just another one to add to our long list of injured players. The Seniors started off pretty well this time and at the long break were in front by 4pts. and things were looking okay for us. At the final break the Swan Hill (Swans) had their nose in front by just 3pts. and it was anybody’s game, however a quick burst of goals by the Swans in the final term put paid to the Raiders chances of a win eventually going down by 21pts., keep at it fellas a win is not that far off, we just need a bit of luck!!. Awards for the Seniors went to Clay Davis (Raiders “Man of the Day”). Jaryd Wishart (Royal Hotel Barham). Chester Gardner (Barham Hotel), and Matt O’Dwyer (Nthn Tree Fellas), others to play well were Cam Arnold & Jake Dick O’Flaherty. The Auction Player went to Clay Davis. The Ressy’s went down in what would nearly be their worst performance for a hundred years, nothing went right for them at all as whatever they tried just didn’t work, so c’mon fellas a huge improvement is required in the next game!, Swan Hill were not that good. Awards went to Scott Wishart (Wes Hare Spraying “Scooby of the Day”). Jackson Flischer (Royal Hotel Barham). Jack Lambert (Barham
Hotel), and Jordan Maney (Raiders Canteen award). Good games were also produced by Lincoln Green and Dean Gogoll who made his long awaited return to the Two’s, welcome back Goges!. The Auction Player was a tie and went to Jackson Flischer and Lincoln Green. Our shining light for the day was our mighty Colts who stormed home in the last qtr. to record a very convincing win against a team who have had the wood on them for the last few years. The game was tight for the first 3 qtrs, but as stated before the boys cut loose in the last term to jag six goals to one to win by 38pts., a couple of tough games are coming up though but we are sure you boys are up to it!. Awards went to Eli Boyd (Royal Hotel Barham). Trinity Starr (Don Taylor Pen). Josh Mc Mahon (Lanes Electrical Socks), and Jordan Bassett (Wilma Bott Canteen Voucher). Others to play well were Ben Miller and Jasper Wilson-Keir but it was a very good team effort. Well after a hectic start to the year we have the weekend off, it is the first of our byes, surely this will enable us to get a few players back for the big game against Kerang on the 29th May, one to look forward to!. Down south, well after watching a few of the replays from last weekend the game should be called Aussie Rules Rugby, the number of players getting away with “throws” now is out of hand, maybe we do need 4 umpires!!.

HAY LIONS J U N E 26 VS M U R R A B I T Hay vs Nullawil (19/06/2021
and Shell Wilson (Hannah McGuffick Hairdressing) were great in the centre court always creating space for the ball to go down the court.
A Grade Nullawil 57 def Hay 21 Nullawil came out of the blocks very strongly converting most goals and at the first break lead 17-4. Hay started to find their rhythm in the second quarter doubling their first quarter score with some great ‘3 point like’ goals from Jade Auldist (Bowling & Gold Club Best on Ground) and Hannah Stewart. Emily Headon worked hard through the mid court as did Daisy Barnes (Moulamein Bowling Club Award) providing some direct and well placed feeds into the goal circle. Lani Houston (Ian Bunyan Plumbing Players Player) supported the mid court and was able to get a few deflections. Hay’s defence combined well with Fiona Cooper supporting the defenders and assisting the ball back into the attack. The dynamic duo of Elle Jamieson (L. Houston Coaches Award) and Olivia Joyce created intercepts and pushed the Nullawil girls all the way. B Grade Nullawil 64 def Hay 16 Hay put in their best effort to take on the well-drilled Nullawil side but unfortunately this was not reflected on the score board. Jasmine Gregory (Best on Court) worked tirelessly in Hay’s defence. Lily Tassell (Players’ Player) played a strong and consistent game in Hay’s attack. Ruby Cattanach (Coach’s Award) played strongly through the mid court. B Reserve Nullawil 51 def Hay 24 After a little hiatus courtesy of Covid-19, Hay got back on deck ready to take on the top team of Nullawil. Unfortunately Hay lost their winning streak but put up a good fight until the last minute. Award winners Talitha Brown (Harrisons IGA)
Under 17’s Nullawil 71 def Hay 11 Playing the unbeaten team in the competition, the Lions put the first score on the board, however Nully worked their way into the quarter and had taken the lead by quarter time despite the efforts of Emma Johnston (Hay Newsagency award) at GD who gathered a number of rebounds. Dimity McLean (The Spot award) had an impact competing at WD. The last quarter saw Hay fight back, with Ruby Cattanach (Hay Calisthenics award) working well in the midcourt and the Hay girls fighting right to the end against a very good team. Under 14’s Nullawil 37 def 10 Hay Considering Nullawil’s skill level, Hay was able to keep up with their strong attack with Emily Caughey and Sophie Tapper (Pete Mullins Building Award) with getting many rebounds which was beneficial towards the game. The last half of the game Hay demonstrated their strong attack of Poppy Barnes, Matilda Nisbet, Laila Wilson and Kodi Scott working hard to get the ball down the court in a smart matter and getting many intercepts when it came to defence. Sienna Lund (Guts and Determination Award), Genivieve Williamson (Highway Inn Motel Award) worked well together using tactical feeding strategies and moving around the ring well. F Troop Some great teamwork here from the girls but unfortunately they went down 3-7. Awards went to Laila Wilson (Active Farmers) and Maggie Shields (Ricks Parks and Gardens) for some fantastic teamwork and defence.

MURRABIT J U N E 26 VS H AY L I O N S How good was it to be back at it again after our imposed layoff for a covid lockdown. The 4 ths got us off to a great start to the day, taking on the undefeated Wandella. The team really combined well to outplay the confident Wandella side. Sam Copland was dominant all over the field and some quality finishing by Ryleigh Wilkinson ensured the team was in front when it counted. Award Winners: Sam Copland (Kerang Electronics), Riley Carse (R&B McNeil), Jack Keath (AB Building), Lachie Maher (Subway) Our 3rds continue to have a sustained effort for the full 4 quarters, Luke Rodgers again lead from the front with his pressure. Award Winners: Luke Rodgers (McKnight & Bray), Ryleigh Wilkinson (Coaches), Archer McKnight (D&J Hein), Ben Maher (John Morrow) & Riley Carse (Subway). The Reserves finally got their chance to respond to their 2019 loss and whilst still undermanned, prevailed with a strong 5 goal win. The Gillen brothers across half back were monumental in the victory and repelled many forward moves. Archer McKnight showed just how important to the side he is with some timely goals and valued speed over the ground. Award Winners: Archer McKnight (Greg Dickson), Darcy Gillen (CluBarham), Chris Hunter (Sh’Marnas Place) & Sean Gillen (Car Wash) Despite a close battle all day the match eventually went the way of Wandella by 5 goals. Nathan O’Toole played his best game for the year and true to form Brody Green and Michael Grant were once again great down back for us. Award Winners: Tom Gibson (Royal Hotel), Ben Gillingham (Mystic Park Hotel) & Brayden Turvey (Elders Barham).
Netball U12 awards: Lyla Morton (Subway), Lexi McKnight (Canteen), Macy Bray (Spitty lollies), Olive Spitty & Georgia Carse (Police), Maddi Keath (Drinker). The under 14’s had a narrow loss despite being up by 1 at ¾ time after a terrific third quarter with some great play. Belle Morton (AB Building$5) was delivering some great ball to the shooters and Immy Cummins (Lake Charm salt $5) was our leading goal scorer. Under 17s started beautifully, leading by a couple at the first change but Wandella quickly ran ahead on the scoreboard. Sarah Copland (Harvey/Laursen $10) threw herself at everything in centre to try and win the ball back and Jessie Teasdale (JMM socks) played a determined game at GK to try and stem the flow of Wandella goals. B res had a great day out with every combination they tried coming up with the goods, Libby Miatke (Harperbay bistro) dominated at WA. Nicole Henry (TWCM) was dominant in the attack end with her speed and drive into the ring. The B grade came out like they’d never had a covid break and had the game pretty well set up by ¼ time thanks to 12 goals from Grace Gillingham (Rulcifys) alone. Aimee Sinclair (Lingenberg) and Emily Copland (Little shoe shop) are developing their connection in defence and won back plenty of balls, in the end winning by 23. The A grade were keen to get back out on court after the break and took home a convincing win. The defence was tight and caused many turnovers, led by Mary Yates-Ward (Little shoe shop) around the ring while the attack end found their groove with some great feeds into Lauren Morrow (TTP). Best of luck to all teams as we travel up to Hay today.

NULLAWIL J U N E 26 VS M AC O R N A Nullawil Football/Netball Notes – Round 7 Football was back and it was another pleasing day of results up at Hay. The under 14’s kicked started the day with a big win, 10.13 – 73 to 0.1-1. There wouldn’t have been many occasions where we have beaten Hay at Hay in the Under 14’s, great game team! Les and Tynan kicked half the goals between them, with the better players being L.Cooper, S.Kelly, Z.Kelly, T.Perry, B.Kelly and C.Kelly. The Hay under 17’s once again proved hard to beat, with the boys battling hard all game, however going down 9.5-59 to the Lions 12.6-78. Better players were P.Kelly, M.Hogan, D.Kelly, S.Kelly, J.Box and C.Fawcett. The Reserves had their kicking boots on this weekend finishing with a 10-goal victory, 17.7-109 to 7.6-48. Dos and Crackers combined for 9 goals in the win, while Freeza gathered possessions at will. Better players were R.Free, J.Vearing, M.Poyner, A.Hogan, A.McGrath and M.McIntyre. The Senior game was a battle in the first half, with the Lions taking it right up to us. At half time we held a 5-point lead, however a 12 goal to 4 goal second half saw us take out a 52-point win. Rylee with 5 goals and Matt Quigley with 4 goals led the tally, with the better players being K.Doran, R.Smith, M.Quigley, Z.Kelly, B.Barker and D.Putt. Netball For the first time in 23 years we were all quite excited to make the trek up to the Hay Plains to play competitive sport.
The under 14’s set the pace for the day with a big win, none of them looked like they had missed the four-week break. Nullawil 37 def Hay 10. Lily Scott was awarded BOC with her solid four quarters. The young teenagers had their foot on the pedal like Taya Bartram’s driving along the plains. Hoping the girls can keep this high standard of play right through the season. Ella Sheahan took home the new Nully drink bottle. The B res wasn’t going to be outdone by the juniors and they too showed their fitness and skills hadn’t dropped off. Newlywed Bethany Watts stole the show by her many intercepts and was glad to receive another new maroon drink bottle. This is Bethany’s not yours Daniel. Nullawil 51 def Hay24 A big mention to sisters Meg and Gemma Fawcett who travelled from Mildura and Melbourne to Hay. Along with Meg Hogan from Bendigo this trio played superbly. Meg Hogan was awarded with the drink bottle. Nullawil 57 def Hay 21 The last game of the day was the B Grade who were way too strong for Hay, although the girls played fast the time didn’t go any faster. Ebony Gurnett was brilliant in the centre earning herself the award. Ella Sheahan is keeping the first aid kit stocked up trying to work out which is the best tape that sticks. First aid lady Melissa Gilchrist is doing well with her freshly first aid skills. Nullawil 64 def Hay 16.

MACORNA TIGERS J U N E 26 VS N U L L AW I L NETBALL A grade - What a game! We came out firing with a bit of a new look line up and didn’t it pay off! 2nd Highest game scored all year and we were up for all of the first half! We welcome Kara to A grade for the rest of the season. One thing is for sure our opposition are learning we aren’t easy to beat. Madi Purvis was her usual strong self and is having a stellar season. Jazz was awesome and took away Exchange Award and Sammi was strong in defence taking home HUSK. B Grade - What a difference a few weeks away can do. Lockdown didn’t do us any favours and we seemed to have lost our B Grade spark. Goalies tried hard all day against a tough defence. Our mid court worked to move the ball down the court and our defence took some great rebounds. Back to training so we can find what we seemed to be missing today. Awards: Husk: Leeza Wishart, Waffles: Denai Buckow B Res- Every single one of the B Res girls should be so proud of their efforts in the game against Moulamein. Defenders worked hard to get intercepts to turn over the ball and our shooters made the most of the work that our defence end was doing. Waffles award this week went to Deb for her outstanding effort in defence and the Dee family award went to Yasmin, she moved beautifully in the ring and down the court! U17 – We came our firing and there was no looking back. All the things we’ve been going over & over at training are finally paying off. The passes into Cass were on point and the work around the ring was nice to watch. Again, the defence end and midcourters were dynamite. Was nice to have Zoe back on court also. Keep up the great work ethic and attitude girls. Awards: Shamana and Ang
U14s - Our girls were faced with yet another strong opposition and unfortunately didn’t get that first win that they were hoping for! In saying that, we couldn’t be more proud of our girls for always putting in 110% during their games, when it would be super easy to drop their heads. To spice things up, in the second half of the game we changed our whole team up and this just proved to us what versatility we have to work with. Awards: Hannalee Bacon and Zoe Pollock. These girls were on fire all game with countless intercepts and lots of clever play between them. FOOTBALL Fourths - The under 14s travelled to Moulamein and in sunny but damp conditions they played a great team game. Playing through the centre and linking up handballs, it was good to watch. Sam and Lachy were carrying the ball through heavy traffic and linking up with the smaller players well. Great team game boys. Best: Broden, Sam, Rivers, Lachlan, Cooper and Will. Thirds - How good is it to be back playing footy? The side were able to make the most out the disrupted training over the past 3 weeks and we hit the ground running and ready in the first quarter. A well-executed team performance with all players having input to the games result, captain Toby Whinfield played a true leaders role Reserves - A bit of a slow start from our extended break. It kept everyone on edge. Then the boys got up and about and played as a team which resulted in a win. Nice one to Aikey on kicking 5, Jai Heap was awesome, Richo, Simon Ray, H and Carts played well but after half time it was a team effort. Well done lads. Best: Jai, Taynan and Simon

What a win!! Everything we have been practicing since the start of the season FINALLY fell into place. Our flow down the court was outstanding. The girls fought hard all game with everyone getting at least one intercept on the court. Our pressure when the ball was turned over from our attacking end was amazing, with lots of turnovers taking place. Super proud of the outcome this game girls.
Awesome win by the girls they had a bit of a rocky start, but they stuck together and played as a team, their defensive pressure was so great which helped them hold onto the lead. They should be proud of their efforts, well done, super effort girls.
