COHUNA KANGAS M AY 2 2 VS TO O L EY BUC M A N A N GATA N G FOOTBALL U12s Great game today, Bubs very happy with the way everyone played. Best team game so far Best Players – Maddison, Charlie Howser, Jacob Ford, Rydes Glass Under 14.5s Both teams came out with very attack. Scores were pretty level throughout the whole game. But the kangas were not quite good enough for the Bulldogs, going down by 11 points. Best Players – Liam Shead, Will Cooke, Gus Palmer, Lachlan English, Andre Glass, Jack Patterson. COLTS An excellent game today by our boys. A very even contest up to half time. We probably just let ourselves down in the third quarter when we failed to capitalise on the breeze. However we rallied well in the last quarter to only go down by four goals. Best Players – Jude Palmer, Riley Mason, EJ Fernandez, Ethan Glass, Ethan Stone, Tynan Dove. RESERVES Very windy conditions. Had plenty of it, did not convert. Daniel Paterson out with calf injury. Best Players – Shannon Treacy,
Joel Woolhouse, Paddy Doyle, Jai Wilson, Nathan Taylor, R Mason SENIORS The trip to Tyntynder saw another excellent start by the boys leading by 47 points at the first break, the second quarter saw this reduced back to 19 points at half time the third quarter then saw the boys have another crack to take the lead back out to 57 points. In the last quarter the boys cracked in and held this lead until the last two minutes of the game and took victory by 46 points well done kangas. Best Players - J Helman, J Donat, X Mitchell, J Bird, T Toma, S McGlone Netty Notes 12 & Under Kangas 1 lost to Tyntynder 23 With a bit more practice we will hopefully start scoring more goals in the next few weeks. Best players this week were Pippa Reid, Lainie Spring, Millah Crichton, Edie Power and Matilda Matthews. 14 & Under Kangas 14 lost to Tyntynder 41 We had a slow start this week and the strong wind wasn’t helping. Joelie Mathers and Charli Moon won awards for their many intercepts and Jorji Easton got Sandra’s $5 for a strong game, especially in goals. 16 & Under Kangas 65 def Tyntynder 4 What a cold day! The girls had a

TOOLEYBUC-MANANGATANG M AY 2 2 VS C O H U N A K A N GAS A couple of weeks ago we took on Tyntynder at Tooleybuc with the seniors putting up a good fight for 3 quarters. All the tricks were pulled out in the last quarter including the dropping of strides while standing the mark however a 6 goal to none last term by the dogs blew the margin out to beyond 10 goals in the end. Best players – Tom Carland, John Wardle, Gareth Grant, Ryan Domaille, Jack Spinks & Mackie Rogers. Mallee Physio Award – Locky Gleeson. The ressies had some good passages of play but in the end found their opponents a bit too strong. Awards: Tooleybuc Sporting Club – Tom Matarazzo, Swan Hill Packaging – Nick Murphy, Mallee Physio – Sam Morton, Amaretto Almonds – Tynan Keam. In arguably the best game of the day the colts put in a great 4 quarter effort & came away with a well deserved victory. Awards: WFI – Ryan Domaille, Sunrise Ag – Mackie Rogers, Mallee Physio – Brad Cacca, Pooles – James Barry. With the help from a few extra recruits the U14’s put in a great team effort with everyone contributing to a fantastic win for the boys. Awards: JA Electrical – Seth Linford, Pearsons Grain – Jules Muir, West Farmers Insurance – Ashby Rogers,
Subway – Rhys Bergman. The U12’s put in another great team effort highlighted once again by their terrific ball movement. Awards: GoFarm – Jasper & Aidan, Truck Specialist – Jed, Pearsons Grain – Chad, Subway – Jules, Pizza Kitchen - Cal. This week’s Manang Hotel Auskick award went to Johnny Walters with a special mention going to Johnny Walters, Rory Plant & Jack Chislett who all played at half time of the Essendon – Fremantle game at marvel stadium last weekend. Netball Notes: Our 12 and Under girls missed out by one goal after a tough contest. Tayce, Beau and Flick worked hard on the wing to bring the ball down the court and are beginning to put some of our set plays into practice to support the rest of our team. The 14’s settled well after a frenetic first quarter. Our accurate passing, excellent goal conversion and tight defence the whole way down the court saw the girls victorious. Awards to Marie, Louise and Hannah. The U16’s had a great start to the game, all players coming out strong, setting the scene for the rest of the match.
The defensive end applied their usual pressure, while the goalies shot strongly. Everyone played well together, with the awards going to Sienna and Keisha. B Res hit the court with lots of determination, enthusiasm and “let’s get ready to rumble”. The girls battled all day and never gave up. Steph Paddon received the award for her hard work in defence and providing another option down the court, while Courtney Morris was acknowledged also. With Jordyn and Hayley away, Emma Gilbee joining the team, and Grace Murray also a welcome fill who played a great game in WA, B Grade was looking a little different this week. Award to Morgan for a great game in GS. A Res had a strong first quarter, leading by 4 goals. They were lucky enough to have some fresh legs throughout the game, however it wasn’t quite enough. Great effort by all, particularly Leonie Kentish and Emma Templeton in defence. A Grade welcomed Zoe Fuller back to the court, leading the team as they demonstrated promising glimpses of play. Consistency is the key to work on moving forward.

BALRANALD M AY 2 2 VS WO O R I N E N Our trip to Kerang last week saw our Junior footballers have wins and the netballers were successful in various grades. Although the weather was a bit fresh there was some great football and netball played. Seniors: With six changes to the team from the previous week the Seniors were going to find it hard against the Kerang team on their home patch. Not able to take advantage of the breeze in the 2nd quarter put us behind the eight ball for the rest of the game. Our better players on the day were Ben Fuller, Jack Salau, Josh Hodgson, Col Andrews, Cam Barrett, the Soraggi brothers and Liam Farnsworth. Reserves The Ressies got a bit of a touch up but did battle hard all day. Apart from the scoreboard the boys are getting a team each week and enjoying their day out. Better players were Marshall Bodinnar, Jacob Lister, Kshaun Rivers, Jake Lockhart, Seth Paton and Jack Gervasi. The Juniors: The Under 14’s played well together as a team and held off a determined Kerang team. Better players on the day were Glen Gillbee (Umpires award), Rory Hillerman (Coaches award), Cam Matarazzo (Most improved), Seb Papa (Canteen award), Ryan Jackson (Azza Kitchen) and Jack Dowling (Pizza award). The Under 12’s had a great first win for the season. There was great commitment from the team in wintery conditions. Better players were Lucius Stevens (Umpire award), Ryan Johnstone (Coaches award), Maddie Sengoz (Most Improved), Luke Myers (Canteen award), Hamish Matarazzo (Pizza award) and Lucas Paton (Subway). Netballers: A Grade: (WON) Slow start saw us down by 8 but some great defensive turn overs got us back in the game. Special mention to Elli for her efforts under the ring. Hannah Morton (Netball cash).
A Res: (Lost) The girls didn’t give up and fought to the end. Bonnie Jolliffe (P&T Gillbee) B Grade: (WON) Girls kept their heads up and fought right to the end. Georgie O’Halloran (LV Bodinnar) & Sarah Gillbee (Balranald Motor Inn Cash). B Res: (WON) Solid 4 quarters by all the girls. Rachael Moore (In The Garden voucher) Under 18’s: (WON) Girls had a strong win in a much contested and physical game. Bonnie Jolliffe (Bakery voucher) and Lauren Jess (Pizza voucher). Under 16’s: (Lost) All played super and very hard to pick the best player. Nicole Kayne (Smithers transport Cash) and Lani & Shelley (Subway award). Under 14’s: (Lost) The girls payed a solid 4 quarters against some tall players. Niamh Gillbee (Moore’s Bus Lines cash) and Amy & Lillian (Subway voucher). Milestones: Senior first gamers last week were Tom Salau, Donny James and Jakeb Curran. We also welcomed Bailey Brougham back to the Seniors. In the Ressies we had the fly in visit from Grafton’s reserves coach Nathan Jolliffe. Social Scene: Today – Woorinen game – Mock Wedding. The wedding of the year is here and what a night is lined up for us. Swan Hill Races Marquee 13 June - $150 per person includes entry, marquee on front row, beer, wine , soft drink and food. See Karlie Duryea for further details. Memberships & Sponsorships: See Lisa Jolliffe to arrange your memberships for this year and Aish Gillbee for your sponsorship needs. Today we host Woorinen and we wish all our football and netball teams the best. Roo-Write-Up

WOORINEN M AY 2 2 VS BA L R A N A L D ROUND 6 NOTES. Round 5 the Tigers hosted the NNW United FNC, it was cold start to the day and was kicked off with huge numbers in our Auskick and Net-Set-Go programs. Unfortunately, the injury tolls at Tigerland continue, with more long-term injuries both on the courts and footy ovals. despite this we had a successful day but were pushed extremely hard in both the two top grades by a youthful, fast and rising Nyah outfits. Ladies Day again was a huge success, it always creates a fantastic day for the ladies to relax and enjoy some great live music, thanks to the organisers for creating the special day. “Miss Woorinen” returned and what a night, the hype and expectation of the favourite event from years gone by didn’t disappoint. Poor Pig Steicke after his 250th was left to the judging duties, and his heart rate was going crazy and was pretty hot and flustered with some of the performances of the special ladies. LAKE BOGA M AY 2 2 VS T Y N T Y N D E R MAGPIE NATION A touch of winter welcomed us to Lalbert on Saturday with results being a tad chilling to be honest, but the home clubs warm hospitality made things a lot more pleasant .U/12 football continued to sail along beautifully with another strong win and open play, clean skills and team orientated ball movement they looked another level.Best were; Lucas Orielly, Jake Bower, Rory Davies, Reef Mulligan and Brody Stevens U/14’s took another step towards inprovement and played more as a team than previous appearances. Coaches beleive that a victory is just around the corner
Round 5 vs Mallee Eagles , May 15 th 2021 Netball Results A Grade – LB 42 def by Eagles 48 Everyone fought hard, don’t feel too disappointed, there are great signs for the rest of the season. A Res – LB 32 def by Eagles 55 The score didn’t reflect how well the girls played. Let’s keep applying the pressure girls and enjoy the contest.
and were buoyed by the performance.Best ;Kell Mulligan, Lachie Bully, Barnsey, Gus Tonkie, Meat Pye jnr, Zac Palmer, Hunter Barber and Holmesy
B Grade – LB 22 def by Eagles 52 The margin was four at quarter time and was 8 at half time with our girls putting up a great battle. However, in the second half it was hard to contain their shooters with the margin stretching out to 30 by the end of the game.
The Colts found themselves up against a pretty physical opponent and with a fair wind to contend with the result can be described as satisfying .
B Res – LB 10 def by Eagles 57 The challenge for our girls was that our opponents have been together as a team and we are finding our feet.
Best; Charlie Bryan, Pat Bryan ,Tank, Rock Stewart, Xavier Shirls and Beef
16 & U – LB 48 def Eagles 26 The difference was just 4 at the first break with pressure applied in the second term to stretch the lead to 11 at half time. With some position changes the girls were still able to keep advancing
The Reserves put on an always entertaining game and were to classy and skillful in an expected win Best:Clarkey, Chase Tonkie, Darb Hayes, Tubby, Sam Baber and Nash McDonald, The Seniors welcomed in more new teammates and put on more of a cohesive team performance with effort in particular being the biggest improvement. As previously stated the improvement of first year players is evident and with the inclusion of some experience returning in coming weeks a victory is coming down the tracks we just need a sniff. Best: Dog Filo, Gus Monfries, Crooksie, Frosty, Johnno and Cal Noonan.
adding another 22 and keeping their opponents to just 11 in the third and fourth quarter which was the final margin at the end of the game. 14 &; U – LB 25 def Eagles 21 Our girls started strongly leading by 11 at the half time break and keeping the Eagles to just 5 goals. The margin was reduced to just 5 with just 12 minutes to go as our opponents made a comeback. 12 & U – LB 12 def by Eagles 30 Even though the Eagles outscored us on the board, we were not beaten with our enthusiasm and working hard on the court.

Football: Auskick: Five lucky pups played at half time at Etihad last week – admirably led by Timmy as they got their first taste of playing in the big-time Under 12s The first year players were leading the way and setting an example– great work from the pups. NYAH NYAH WEST UNITED M AY 2 2 VS M A L L E E E AG L E S This week we host Mallee Eagles in what I’m sure will be very competitive games across all grades. Congratulations to club legend Ash Thompson who plays his 250th club game this week. Seniors: NNWU 8.17.65 defeated by Woorinen 11.10.76 As we have in the last few weeks, we started well and our intensity around the ball was great, allowing us to build up a slight lead while kicking with the wind. The lead swung back to Woorinen who built up a 4-goal lead by half time. We had our chances in the third quarter, but some inaccurate kicking stopped us from being better than 2 goals down at 3 quarter time. Despite kicking against the breeze, we dominated possession early to hit the front mid-way through the last quarter. However, we couldn’t hang on, eventually losing by 11 points. Best players: Alex Erlandson, Cal Dobbin, Corey Daniels, Zac Threadgold, Jaydyn Stirling, Brady Davidson. Reserves: NNWU 1.4.10 defeated by Woorinen 9.22.76 A very tough day at the office for the Reserves, coming up against a very strong Tiger team, being able to only kick one goal in a very one-sided game. The highlight for the supporters was the debut of our English recruit, Sam Cockram, who showed great endeavour in his first game of Aussie Rules. Doey’s Meats Award – Jordan King; Tasco Award – Cam Forster; Grand Hotel Award – Luke Shadbolt; Drover Contracting – Rhys Burge; Swan Hill Pool & Spa and Swan Hill Garage Doors Most Determined – Sam Cockram Colts: NNWU 8.2.50 defeated by Woorinen 10.8.68 The Colts game was a close match the whole way through, with the game in the balance right up to the last few minutes. Murray’s Incentive 1 – Mitchell Grinham; Murray’s Incentive 2 – Oliver Boulton; Pizza Kitchen – Harry Shadbolt; Town & Country – Cooper Charles; Nutrien Ag Solutions 1 – Aaron Threadgold; Nutrien Ag Solutions Hat – Ryan Domaille Under 14.5: NNWU 10.10.70 defeated Woorinen 4.5.29
The Under 14.5’s had a good win against very good opposition. The scores were close at half time, but we were able to skip out to a good lead in the third quarter, which we held onto for the rest of the game. V & S Andrews – Ethan Curran; Coaches Endeavour – Korben Bird; Koraleigh Store – Wil Threadgold; Trainers Award – Zac O’Shannassy; Subway – Tyler Gadsby Under 12: NNWU vs Woorinen On our coldest morning yet for football, the Under 12’s did a great job. Despite the cold conditions, everyone was enthusiastic and keen to play and put on a great display of football. Coaches Award – Zac Whimpress; Koraleigh Store – Lincoln Grigg; Growtek – Kohen Edge; Classic Fish Shop – Audrey Ibbs; Subway – Cohen Roberts NETBALL RESULTS The highlight being the first win of the season for the Under 16’s team who played a great game.

KERANG M AY 2 2 VS SWA N H I L L Under 14.5’s Kerang 2-9-21 Def by Balranald 5-3-33 Tough game against a strong Balranald Side. The team continues to show improvement each week which is a good sign. Another tough game this week coming up against 3rd Place Swan Hill. Best Play-ers: C. Meehan, H. Bremner, H. Macri, D. Threlfall, B. Goodson, L. McAlpin. Colts: No Game on the weekend Reserves: Kerang 18-17-125 Def Balranald 0-2-2 A convincing win by the young developing reserves side. The depth this year is a lot deeper and we seem to be able to cover injuries better. This side will only get better as injured players start returning making team selection more difficult each week. Best Players: Nick Pay, Liam Radcliffe, Jordan Clingan, Thomas Meehan, Adam McKeanzie, Josh Hunter
Hann, Brad Pay
B Grade: Kerang 28 def by Balranald 42

Kerang girls went down, but the game didn’t reflect that. Played a good game as a team. Keep going girls, we are improving every week.
Under 14’s: Kerang 45 def Balranald 31
This week’s award went to; Cindy Murphy.
Our girls just continue to play as a team! In freezing windy conditions today, they man-aged to continue their winning streak. We are so proud of all you girls! This week’s awards went to; Alli Hunter, Kobie Waddingham, Brooke Heffer, Joli Robertson and Lily Wise.

Really good game considering the score. The girl’s attitude was really positive and it showed in their play. This week’s awards went to; Zarah Holt, Ebony Hipworth, Jorja Gibson and Gabi Dav Under 18’s: Kerang 16 def by Balranald 58
Seniors: Kerang 13-12-90 Def Balranald 6-6-42
Hard, fast game with Balranald being too strong.
A Real arm wrestle against a much improved Balranald side. With injuries mounting up each week the boys knew they were in for a tough game. This week we face another tough opponent in Swan Hill. Hopefully we start getting a few back from injuries to strengthen the side up.
This week’s awards went to; Tara Cordina, Abbey Pay and Emerson Tuohey.
Best Players: Troy Coates, Bryce Curnow, Michael Dalrymple, Marty Kelly, Josh
B Res: Kerang 22 def by Balranald 38 Solid effort from the girls against a strong young Balranald side. Great team play. Better luck next round. This week’s award went to; Elsie Bremner and Caidyn Goodson
It was a close game but we kept fighting and managed to take the win. We fought the whole way through, few things to work on next week, but we should all be proud of our efforts. Special mention to Graecen Cartwright and Sophie Martin’s who are our best on today. Both teams played a solid game. Katelyn Wright was dynamic on the court, leading and committing her body to the ball every pass.Courtney and Meg fought for every goal and never stopped trying. Our mid court Tahni and Emma W were at their reliable best. This week’s awards went to; Katelyn Wright and Courtney Wright. This week we journey up the Highway to meet Swan Hill in what always ends up a tough and com-petitive day of football and netball. After the game we are heading back to our Major Sponsor The Exchange Hotel to enjoy a cold drink and a quality meal.

MACORNA TIGERS M AY 2 2 VS M U R R A B I T NETBALL U12 - Round 5 against Wandella the girls had another tough game and lots of taller girls to compete against, but again we are so proud of all of them, not one of the girls stopped giving it their all again this week. Awards: Makenna- MMWFP, Bella Tiff Bartram award U14 – Our U14 netballers are a group of absolute stars in the making. Although another loss, the girls are improving every week and its incredible to watch. Special mention to Hannalee who got BOC. Other awards went to Kiera and Rosie. U17 – Ellie ran all day again with Jodie doing some great drives and working with Cass & Tahlia around the ring. Maddy moved into an attacking role and smashed it. Brodey, Ang & Shamana always strong in the defence end. Awards picked by the A graders: Jodie – Waffles, Shamana- Husk B res - An awesome display of team work and never give up attitude displayed by the B res girls today. Going down by only by 2 at the final siren has shown that what they are doing at training is starting to pay off. Keep up the great work girls. Debbie got the top award (Bennets) for playing a blinder game in WA. B grade - A tough game right to the final siren. Wandella pushed the girls at every pass and they fought back hard. The shooters held their own against a strong defence. The mid court moved the ball quickly while the defence gave it their all. Awards: Exchange: Kara Farrell, Waffles: Sherri Sutherland A grade came out absolutely firing and ready to bring home the chocolates. We had an injury and it unsettled us a little, but we dug deep in the second half and came back. Meg Cooke was unreal in goals and got the best, followed by Jasmine
Williams who just gives us her all every week. Best wishes go to our captain Della who ruptured her Achilles. Football Fourths- Unfortunately, we didn’t get the chocolates but there were a lot to gain from this hit out. Well done boys for trying hard for four qtrs. Awards: MMWFP – Taylor Lacy, MRW Speech – Will Meharry, Wilson transport – Rivers Webb, Tonkins award – Lachy Farrell Thirds – Great game for the boys against Wandella. Worked really hard in the first qtr against the wind and managed to keep control for the reminder of the game. Gutsy win lead by Captain Toby out classing his opponents all day. Reegan controlled the centre bounce all day showing his continued growth in that role, while Ferg Bear had it on a string. Awards: Toby Whinfield - MMWFP , Reegan O’Rourke – Wilson Transport, Fergus Bear- Coaches award, Blake Forster- Ants Award Seconds – Boys came out playing an attacking game of footy which was great to watch. Ant, H, Sharpy, Shorty, Zac and Carts played great as did the rest of the team. Awards: Exchange – Ant Free, Bennetts Sports – Hayden Tyler, Rookie award – Corey Sharp Seniors – Off to arch rivals Wandella and we didn’t get the results we were after, nothing hard work wont fix. Stiz another bag with 8, big Nick worked tirelessly all day giving the mids a chance and the back 6 gave their all but wandella were too good in the end. Awards: J&W Angel & MFNC – Nick Leach, North & Sons Excavation & MFNC – Jaydon Stiles, D&J Forster & Excahnge – Rick Howell

MURRABIT M AY 2 2 VS M AC O R N A The day started off well with the young blues opening the day with a 5 goal win in the U14.5’s. Sam Copland dominated the ground with Noah Shea and Riley Carse also finding plenty of the ball. Once again the goals were shared around with Zeb Hein and Noah each getting 2 each. Award winners unavailable: Best S. Copland, N. Shea, R. Carse, J. Keath, D. Strange, J. McDonald. Our 3rds tried hard all day and continued to apply pressure to the opposition and follow the instructions of the coaches. Unfortunately, our boys could only manage 1 goal for the day. This came thanks to Darcy Strange. In the midfield, Ashton Wood and Ben Maher battled hard all day and ensured the Nully players were under pressure. Best Players: A. Wood, B. Maher, R. Carse, T. Khongphueng, A. McKnight, K. Doolan Nick Hein managed to do it again, he found players to fill vacancies once again. This week we celebrated the long awaited return to football by Nicholas Jarman. He didn’t disappoint. With a kicking efficiency of 100% the left footer wound the clock back as he transitioned the ball all over the ground. Jars’ field kicking spectacle was only outdone by Archer McKnight’s running goal at the golf course end! Nick Hein lead from the front setting up many forward thrusts and it was great to see Hayden Marsh play his best game for the year. Best Players: N. Hein, H. Marsh, A. Wood, D. Gillen, J. Mayne, B. Mathers Our seniors were outsized and outclassed in the main game. Once again it wasn’t through lack of effort, more so skill errors again. Josh Bray slotted back into the side to help fill the void of missing players and Marc O’Neil had kick after kick. Kaine O’Connell will get some respite this week with the return of Ben after conceding around 3ft to
the opposition ruckman. Best Players: M. O’’Neill, J. Bray, T. Copland, M. Grant, K. O’’Connell, B. Morison Netball The under 14s came up against some handy opposition and had to work hard all game to keep possession and score. Evie McKnight (Lake Charm salt) in goals and Belle Morton (Harvey/Laursen $10) through the midcourt were the better performers. The 17s had a great start being just two down at the first break but then some positional changes saw Nully able to charge ahead through the middle quarters, Mila Bray (AB building) and Jessie Teasdale (Morrow socks) battled hard in defence against a strong attacking side. The B res girls had a close game but lacked a little in the third quarter and let Nully get a little too far ahead to reign in despite the best efforts of Teish Nethercote (Little shoe shop) shooting some lovely goals and Sharni Maher (TWC) battling all day in centre. B grade held strong all day no matter who was put against them and managed a 7 goal win despite a slow last quarter. Grace Gillingham (TTP) was the target to hit in the goal circle taking on the bulk of the scoring load and Ashea Bujdoso (Rulcifys) continued her run of good form in the centre. The A grade came out on a mission and stuck to the game plan throughout to come home with an impressive win. Goalies combined well and finished nicely against a talented defence with Chloe Adams winning the Lingenberg award and Lauren Morrow the harperbay bistro voucher.

NULLAWIL M AY 2 2 VS M OU L A M E I N Nullawil Football/Netball Notes – Round 5 The Under 14s came up against a strong Murrabit outfit and battled hard all day. Tynan, Tiger and Sol were the better players, with Tiger leading the goal scorers with 2 goals. Scores Murrabit 9.7-61 to 4.2-26 The under 17s exploded into gear with a 7 goal first quarter. The goals continued to flow in the 2nd a 3rd quarters with the boys enjoying the space of the Murrabit oval. Charlie was a focal point up forward kicking 8 goals. Better players were Paddy, Dude and Charlie. Final scores Nully 26.18-174 to Murrabit 1.2-8 The reserves came up against a very experienced Murrabit side, who got the jump in the first quarter. It was a battle for Nully for the rest of the game, going down 12.10-80 to 7.2-44. Better players were Vearo, Matt Hayward and Liam Whitbourne. The Seniors put on another solid showing against the Blues, while again being a little inaccurate in front of goals. A 40-point lead was established by half time, and a 12 goal to 3 second half saw us take out a 100 point win. Dorf chipped in with another another 6 goals, with Farmer slotting 4 goals. Better players were Dean Putt, Matt Quigley, Jordy Humphreys, Kyle Doran, Rylee Smith and Zac Kelly. Netball The under 14’s girls played in the icy cold wind that certainly took the flies away. The game started fairly even but then the little girls took control and away they went on to a comfortable win. Nullawil 49 def 13 . Gracie
Humphreys took out the award with a great display of defending, well done Gracie. The under 17’s was a bit like the little girls as they too started off goal for goal and then all girls stepped up with Ruby Scott intercepting every ball heading towards the Murrabit ring whilst Taya Bartram and Bella Gilchrist shot and passed beautifully in the goals. Nullawil 63 def Murrabit 14. Best player Ruby Scott The B Reserve had met their match and was probably game of the day as the lead changed so many times throughout the game. Regan Kelly played her usual steady game and newcomer Elizabeth had her fingertips on everything. Well done girls on a great game. Nullawil 38 def Murrabit 34. Next it was the A grade who were up against a well-oiled Murrabit side, Murrabit’s strength made it hard for the Nully girls who graciously went down in defeat. Maddi Smith was welcomed back with a Best on Court whilst high leapeing Meg Fawcett was again at her usual best. Nullawil 24 were defeated by Murrabit 48. The B Grade girls were keen to play second place Murrabit and although the Nully girls were down in the third quarter they outplayed the Blues in the last so a great positive to take from that. Also, another great positive was the welcome return of legend Tess Stobaus. Murrabit 38 def Nullawil 31 Grace Scott was BOC with a great game of numerous turnovers and intercepts.

It was great to see a big reward for the effort put in and we gave the crowd something to look forward to in the future. Go swans! Seniors Football Moulamein 87 Defeated Quambatook 64 Pewter Donated by A&D Polkinghorne- Brady Fordham With round 5 being “Ladies day” the swans wanted to make sure we put on a good show. I think a few were nervous so we started slow in the first quarter. Once that was out of the way we started playing the brand of football that has worked for us the previous 4 games and slowly but surely fought hard to get back in front and secure the 4 points for the day.

QUAMBATOOK M AY 2 2 VS H AY Netball:
Football:
Under 12s It certainly was a cold morning for our Under 12’s at Moulamein. Everyone played with lots of smiles and determination. Our award winners went to Lucy Pilgrim, taking home the Ladies Committee award and Harper Free, the drink bottle award, for their fabulous skills and sportsmanship.
Under 14’s This week we only had a hand full of little Quamby kickers but they got to have a heaps of fun with the Moula mob. We had Noah in full forward, booting 2 goals for the day; Hunter our little running super star in the middle. The Free girls working hard straight from netball to have a kick.
Well done to all the Under 12’s. Go Saints. B-Reserve Last week the girls had to adapt a little bit with lots of outs. We welcomed back Amber Wood to the team to help out in defense. Unfortunately the Moulamein girls got an early lead and our girls just couldn’t get back. Awards: J. Greenhill - Mystic Park Hotel T. Farrugia - Exchange Hotel B-Grade This week we shook things up a bit, putting Paige Jones down the opposite end of the court adding some much needed height in the goal ring. Yet again, the defensive end got lots of the ball, using their long arms and jump to get plenty of intercepts and rebounds. These girls are finding their groove and are improving every week regardless of the opposition.
J. Bennett - Mallee Physio D. Boyd - Mystic Park Hotel
Reserves It was a tough day for the 2nds being very short of players and thanks to Moulamein for lending us a couple to make up the numbers. Fidge and Lakey returned this week and tried their hearts out all day. Texput up a good show in the ruck and Brodie worked hard in the mid field . The defense was continually bombarded but the boys kept their heads up and fought the game out. Best players: Tex, Fidge, Brodie, Dom Pianuta, Brad Lake, B. Stevenson.
R. Wellington - Mallee Physio
Awards: P. Jones - Exchange Hotel
Well done to all our juniors over the weekend great to see you all having a go and making the fun happen.
Seniors Another cracking start by the 1sts last week slamming on the first 4 goals and having 7 on the board by ¼ time . Chris Kendall and Blackers had 2 each with Quamby making the most of the breeze . Moula came back in the second term despite the efforts of Jack Baker , Gregor and Ricky putting in big efforts . Kendall kicked another 2 in the 3rd quarter but Moula levelled the score again at ¾ time . Luke Parker was busy in defence laying plenty of tackles . The home team finished the stronger with the breeze behind them but were made to work hard for the win . Best players: J. Baker, T. Cameron, R. Wild, G. Knight, C. Kendall, L. Parker.

HAY LIONS M AY 2 2 VS Q UA M BATO O K A Grade Ultima 27 def Hay 20
Under 17’s Ultima 23 def Hay 20
The A Grade girls had a great start against Ultima with the scores level at the first quarter, 6 all. Jade Auldist and Hannah Stewart were working well in the goal circle and Olivia Joyce and Ellie Jamieson (Jane Griffiths Player of the Match) were applying defensive pressure in the circle. Ultima had a quick centre court but Bronwyn Hicks (South Hay Hotel Best on Ground Award), Daisy Barnes and Lani Houston (Ian Bunyan Plumbing Players Players) alternated in the centre to keep with the pace. The windy weather created a few errors from both teams but Ultima seemed to capitalise on these in the 2nd & 3rd quarter.
Playing the equal second placed team in the competition the Lions had a slow start and were down 9 goals to 1 at quarter time, despite the strong defence of Katie Howard (Hay Newsagency award) at WD. The second quarter saw Lucy Davies (The Spot award) and Ruby Cattanach start to combine up forward as Hay got on the board and went to half time 15 to 6.
B Grade Ultima 42 def Hay 17 This game started off as a tight tussle with Ultima taking the lead by 1 at quarter time. After a few positional changes, Ultima came on strongly and capitalised on turnovers to take home the win. Jaz Gregory (Hay Bowling and Golf Club Best on Court) and Dim Comb (Tantrum Players’ Player) were again a dynamic duo in defence. Ruby Cattanach (Coach’s Award) had a fantastic first senior game and will definitely be an asset to the team this season. B Reserve Hay 39 def Ultima 32 In cold windy conditions Hay led Ultima at every quarter and its biggest winning margin at the final hooter! Hay 39 to Ultima 32. We had a great combination in and around the goal circle, with Trish Jamieson winning Harrisons IGA award. The defensive end worked really hard and kept us in the game, led by Jess Weymouth (Hannah McGufficke Hairdressing award) with great help by Therese Murphy. Special thanks to Leonie Laracy who has been offering her time and experience in coaching us.
Under 14’s Ultima 27 def Hay 5 In the first half, Hay took time to read their players and find speed and space in the first quarter which made it hard for them to keep up with Ultimas fast game and turnover passes. In the second quarter, the centre court play was evenly balanced with Hay’s Lucy Davies (Guts and Determination award) working hard to keep the ball safe through the court and accurately feeding the shooters. Defenders Sophie Tapper (Peter Mullins Building award) and Emily Caughey (Highway Inn Motel award) read many of the feeding strategies into Ultimas circle and made some well timed intercepts. F Troop The girls played a great game, using good teamwork and keeping the talk up, with a win 10-1 the girls left with smiles on their faces. This week’s awards went to Angelina Clarke (Lions Canteen voucher) and Jade Doidge (Ricks Parks & Gardens award). Hay Reds vs Hay Blues Hay Reds and Blues played a close game early Saturday morning, with Reds taking the win 3-2. This week’s awards went to Rhyla Bunyan (Active Framers award), Jessica Tapper (Ricks Parks & Gardens award) and Grace Auldist (Lions Canteen Voucher).

ULTIMA M AY 2 2 VS WA N D E L L A Ultima netball record notes from Round 5 12&Under Another great game girls. Although we couldn’t quite keep up with Hay on the scoreboard it’s amazing to see everyone constantly improving and trying their best. Awards went to Lexi Hyland and Ivy Frost. 14&Under Ultima 27 Hay 5 Today’s weather conditions weren’t the best, but a nice win anyway. Our passes and catching let us down a bit. Amazing intercepts and awesome defence saw Jayda and Indi G take home the awards. Well done girls. 17&Under In windy conditions the girls started strongly and held a good lead at quarter time. Hay fought back over the next three quarters, but Ultima eventually won by 3. Awards went to Bridgette, Kobe and Molly. B Reserve Ultima 32 Hay 39 With a couple of players not able to make the trip to
Hay we were lucky enough to have Verity Oliver and Bridgette Zucco from the 17’s. With a mixed up team we put out a strong performance, keeping the score level for 3 quarters, however we just couldn’t hold on at the end. Awards went to Verity and Gemma. B Grade Ultima 42 Hay 17 Great game. Every single player did their job and played their role. An awesome 4 quarter team game with people thrown into different positions and not missing a beat. Looking forward to getting more consistency with players and positions in the coming weeks. Welcome back Rach Grant and thanks Gemma and Tonya for helping out. Awards went to Trine, Megan and Tonya. A Grade Ultima 27 Hay 20 Great to get back to back wins for the first time this season. It was a very scrappy win but it was really pleasing to see everyone fight it out all game. Fantastic to get Millie on for her first court time in A Grade. Awards went to Brass and Fliss who were both ball magnets all day.
