To think we are already seven rounds in and half way through our season, seems crazy. It has been a busy and exciting start to the season at Macorna. Before Covid hit, we had an exciting AGM where we welcomed new members to our committee, some taking on some big roles, however, taking them in their stride. As Covid hit and the realisation that there would be no season set in, it was quite devastating for all. Not only the loss of Netball and Football, but the loss of a social haven for many. The club as a whole tried to stay as connected as possible while keep our distance, coaches organised competitions, the Commitee took the time to introduce themselves and players tried their best to keep up their fitness. As the 2021 season approached, all were keen to get back to Macorna and get back into it. We were able to roll all coaches over from 2020 and keep them on board in both Football and Netball. On the courts, we had never seen such amazing numbers at preseason, the feeling was electric and encouraged the club as a whole to get back into training. The boys hit the track, lots of new faces arrived and the magic was once again, alive at Macorna. As mentioned, there are a lot of new faces at Macorna, it has been fantastic to see as we were worried that a year off would persuade many to not return. Numbers at Macorna have never looked better. Before the season began, the Committee began some leadership training, this was an opportunity for Committee members to reflect and set goals that we would like to achieve as a club. This will contribute to our success, not only on the Field and court, but
as a community club also. Our first game against Hay was one for the memory bank, all but one side at Macorna won that day. Something that hasn’t happened at Macorna for a very long time, there was a lot of Tiger Pride in the air that night. We have just hosted out MFNC Ball at the Exchange Hotel in Kerang, it was a massive hit and a night enjoyed by all. It was a fantastic opportunity for all the new members to get to know existing members and go create new friendships. It was a great night enjoyed by all! Our social calendar is just heating up, our next home game will be our annual Goods and Services auction, last year we hosted this online and while it was a lot of fun during lockdown, we are looking forward to doing it in person again! In July we are hosting our Annual Ladies day, where all proceeds go to the Beyond Blue foundation, a cause that we hold very close to our hearts and minds at Macorna. Macorna will then have the pleasure in hosting the Annual Indigenous Round Match against Wandella. Jumpers, Bibs and Training shirts are all designed and in the print process which is very exciting for all players. It is bound to be a fantastic day as per usual! Last week was National Volunteers week, we would like to take the opportunity to thank all the Volunteers that are involved in getting our players onto the court and field every week. There is a lot of work that goes into this that people don’t often understand. We are well aware that Saturdays would not happen without our Volunteers. Everyone at Macorna would like to extend a massive thank you to all over our valued Sponsors, new and old, you don’t go unnoticed. Sponsors play a huge role at Macorna and we appreciate them all so much. It’s all happening at Macorna and we are excited for what the future holds!

Great day out for the Junior Netball Interleague girls at the Echucha District tournament last weekend! A mixture of results, but positive for the most part! Special mention to the U13 squad, who made it through the rounds undefeated - super effort! Unfortunately, they fell short in the semi’s, going down to Sunraysia FNL (5-12). Thanks to everyone who contributed to making the day a success, and good luck to the girls for their next tournament in June!

TYNTYNDER M AY 2 9 VS N YA H N YA H W E ST U N I T E D Well done to all those in the 2021 Tyntynder Debutante Ball last week especially Kirra, Alana, Jordi, Mick, along with Mia, Lily, Zoe, Kate and George and especially Frankie – these kids represented the club beautifully and it was a terrific night had by all. Football: Under 12s We kept our heads up and remained competitive, laying some beautiful tackles against a tough opposition. Unfortunately we didn’t have to raise the white flags. Awards: T. Hatcher, M. Spence, M. Slorach, D.Kelly, B. Nelson, S. Hovenden, M. Kelly. Under 14.5 Tyntynder 28 Lake Boga 39 First half was ours then we just slowed down – was a good effort, maybe this week. Best Players: H. Kelly, J. Fielder, B. Clarke, J. Robinson, N. Benfield, P. Blake. Awards: -J. Robinson, H. Kelly, P. Blake, C. McDonald, J.Eade, A. Uppal, J. far too good. Let’s see if we can pick it up today. Best Players: J. Haeusler, P. Strugnell, R. Zanker, L, Edwards, L. Broutkan. Awards: J. Haeusler, L.Brown, P.Strugnell, R.Zanker, D.Miliano. Seniors Tyntynder 90 Lake Boga 58 Every player did his job to get the win last week. It’s energizing to have another home game today, just the third of the season, and we hope to continue to lift. Best Players: H. Simpson, C. Cook, L. McKay, C. Crowe, J. Hui, S. McKay Netball A Grade Tyntynder 46 Lake Boga 38 Girls played brilliantly to come back from 5 down, the goalies started off with a hard task but worked it out by half time. Our defensive end was faultless Awards: L. Anderson, M.Ellis A Res Tyntynder 50 Lake Boga 28 Awesome game by the girls, a very different side to what we are used to with changed post ends and centre court but the girls adapted well. Awards: K. Calvert, E. Crowe B Grade Tyntynder 39 Lake Boga 51 Hard fought game that felt a lot closer that the score reflected. Didn’t come away with the win but the team threw everything at it. NYAH NYAH WEST UNITED M AY 2 9 VS T Y N T Y N D E R If it’s not going to rain, we may as well have weather like we had last weekend, which was fantastic conditions for football and netball. This week we venture into town to take on Tyntynder where we will be looking to improve and get a few more wins on the board. FOOTBALL RESULTS Seniors: NNWU 9.5.59 defeated by Mallee Eagles 12.9.81 The seniors started off in the same form as the previous week, working hard around the contest to play good footy which saw them take a lead into quarter time. However, we were unable to maintain this intensity for the rest of the game and let Mallee Eagles take control of the game. While we played well in patches, we couldn’t do this for long enough and in the end finished 22 points behind. Best players: Campbell Everitt, Zac Threadgold, Joel Walsh, Brady Davidson, Cael Price, Cal Dobbin. Players Player Award – Zac Threadgold Reserves: NNWU 16.8.104 defeated Mallee Eagles 5.9.39 After the tough game the week before, the Reserves clicked back into gear to play some very good footy against a very competitive Eagles side. It was good to see everyone doing their bit to get the win. Brodyn Hazlett, Frank Violi, Bradley Shepherd, Riley Daniels, Cooper Andrews. Colts: NNWU 10.4.64 defeated by Mallee Eagles 9.13.67 Another week and another close game for the Colts. There was never more than a kick in it all game, with the lead changing plenty of times. However, we weren’t in front at the most important time – the final siren. Charlie Boulton, Oliver Boulton, Mitchell Grinham, Mathew Molloy, Jackson Hopkins, Ethan Curran. Under 14.5: NNWU 10.12.72 defeated Mallee Eagles 2.5.17 The Under 14.5’s game was a good contest, with scores close in the first quarter. The team was able to skip away to a good lead by half time which they built on for the rest of the game. Good to see Dusty kick his first goal for the year.
Bohdan Thomson, Oliver Stewart, Tyler Gadsby, Ethan Curran, Max Thompson. Under 12: NNWU vs Mallee Eagles Our youngest footballers had a great contest with the young Eagles with a very competitive game. Ben Rogers, Max Thompson, Rory Wilkinson, Elijah Curran, Byrron Hulands NETBALL RESULTS Very tough day on the netball courts for our netballers who were unable to score any wins against strong Mallee Eagles sides.

SOCIAL NEWS By all reports, Ladies Day was a big success with everyone who attended having a great time. Thanks to all the organisers for your hard work to make it run so smoothly. This week we have the annual Rotating Dinner which I’m sure will be much fun had by those joining in. I’m just hoping that Danielle is not planning another go at her infamous Taco dish. Keep track of the upcoming social events on the club’s Facebook page. Good luck to all football and netball teams today.
GO DEES.

KOONDROOK BARHAM M AY 2 9 VS K E R A N G RIVER RAIDERS RAMBLINGS Our return to Raiders Central for the big city v country game i.e. against Swan Hill, did not go the way we had hoped, the Seniors and Ressy’s both got rolled, but it wasn’t all doom and gloom as our Colts made sure of that with a very good win in their game!. Once again a huge crowd rocked up to see the Raiders footballers and netballers strut their stuff, so overall it was another mammoth day for the club. Congrats, to Jack Lambert on playing his 50th game for the Raiders. Also to Rylan Attwell on playing his first senior game for the Raiders. As for the Senior game things went skewiff before the game even started with the withdrawal of one of our talls in Col Mc Veigh, just another one to add to our long list of injured players. The Seniors started off pretty well this time and at the long break were in front by 4pts. and things were looking okay for us. At the final break the Swan Hill (Swans) had their nose in front by just 3pts. and it was anybody’s game, however a quick burst of goals by the Swans in the final term put paid to the Raiders chances of a win eventually going down by 21pts., keep at it fellas a win is not that far off, we just need a bit of luck!!. Awards for the Seniors went to Clay Davis (Raiders “Man of the Day”). Jaryd Wishart (Royal Hotel Barham). Chester Gardner (Barham Hotel), and Matt O’Dwyer (Nthn Tree Fellas), others to play well were Cam Arnold & Jake Dick O’Flaherty. The Auction Player went to Clay Davis. The Ressy’s went down in what would nearly be their worst performance for a hundred years, nothing went right
for them at all as whatever they tried just didn’t work, so c’mon fellas a huge improvement is required in the next game!, Swan Hill were not that good. Awards went to Scott Wishart (Wes Hare Spraying “Scooby of the Day”). Jackson Flischer (Royal Hotel Barham). Jack Lambert (Barham Hotel), and Jordan Maney (Raiders Canteen award). Good games were also produced by Lincoln Green and Dean Gogoll who made his long awaited return to the Two’s, welcome back Goges!. The Auction Player was a tie and went to Jackson Flischer and Lincoln Green. Our shining light for the day was our mighty Colts who stormed home in the last qtr. to record a very convincing win against a team who have had the wood on them for the last few years. The game was tight for the first 3 qtrs, but as stated before the boys cut loose in the last term to jag six goals to one to win by 38pts., a couple of tough games are coming up though but we are sure you boys are up to it!. Awards went to Eli Boyd (Royal Hotel Barham). Trinity Starr (Don Taylor Pen). Josh Mc Mahon (Lanes Electrical Socks), and Jordan Bassett (Wilma Bott Canteen Voucher). Others to play well were Ben Miller and Jasper Wilson-Keir but it was a very good team effort. Well after a hectic start to the year we have the weekend off, it is the first of our byes, surely this will enable us to get a few players back for the big game against Kerang on the 29th May, one to look forward to!

Shout Out- Allastair Wells We have so many people at our club that do so much. Today I want to do a massive shout out to Wellzy. Wellzy has been coordinator of our fantastic Auskick program since 2018 after starting his involvement in 2017. One year to learn how it all works, then the next year he is in charge! Wellzy is an involved committee member who became the Junior Manager in 2019 and he also does so much handywork around the club. Wellzy umpires at least 1 game a week, sometimes 2, both juniors and reserves. It is people like Wellzy that make our club tick along so nicely. Thanks Wellzy!!

BALRANALD M AY 2 9 VS M A L L E E E AG L E S Great day for sport last week and with a big crowd they witnessed some games of football and netball. Seniors: The boys had high hopes when they took the field but Woorinen did not let our blokes play their game and the Tigers lead for most of the game. Our disposal and lack of discipline was very costly and is definitely something to work on. Our better players on the day were Ben Fuller, Jordan Wilkins, Josh Hodgson, Col Andrews, Cam Barrett (mug of Day), the Soraggi brothers and Liam Farnsworth. Reserves The Ressies had some fresh blood as they made up a team of 21. They moved the ball a lot better than previous games but were well beaten overall. Better players were Marshall Bodinnar, Jakeb Curran, Jamie Simpson, Dave Morgan, Yodok Soille, Mason Anderson and Jack Farnsworth. The Juniors: The Under 14’s game was an arm wrestle, but the boys withstood the pressure to come away with the win. Better players on the day were Jett Militto (Umpires award), Benny Cimino (Coaches award), Tyrone Wickey (Most improved), Jack Lowe (Canteen award), Taylor Lewis (Subway) and Tyler Barrett (Pizza award). The Under 12’s had another great team game with another win on the board. There were eight individual goal kickers today. Everyone needs to get over and watch these kids. Better players were Wesley Hines (Umpire award), Jed Paton (Coaches award), Josh Renfrey (Most Improved), Lucas Griffiths (Canteen award), Jordan Cimino (Pizza award) and Keegan Hillerman (Subway). Netballers: A Grade: (WON) A solid 4 quarters by the whole team to come away with a good win against a quality Woora side. Taylin Barry & Elli Brougham (Netball cash). A Res: (Lost) Even though defeated by the top team by 5 goals the girls fought hard all game. Becky Clayton (P&T Gillbee).
B Grade: (Lost) All the girls tried their best and kept their heads high. Faith Jolliffe (LV Bodinnar) & Ashlea Bodinnar (Balranald Motor Inn Cash). B Res: (Lost) All played well in a tough game. Madison Campbell (In The Garden voucher) Under 18’s: (WON) It was a strong team performance to come away with a good win. Lauren Jess (Bakery voucher) and Tegan Bruton (Pizza voucher). Under 16’s: (WON) The girls are playing some great netball and they relly stepped it up in the last half. Jorja Finch (Smithers transport Cash) and Grace Morton (Subway award). Under 14’s: (WON) It was an awesome team effort and great to see them encouraging each other. Hollie Haines (Moore’s Bus Lines cash) and Sheridan Dalton (Subway voucher). Milestones: Senior first gamers last week were Kshaun Rivers. We also welcomed Jack Gervasi back to the Seniors. Social Scene: Next week – Tyntynder game – Ladies Day. In support of the White Ribbon Foundation, we would like to invite you to the Annual Ladies Day for 2021. Come and join us in the Big Shed for an overdue mingle along with complimentary beverages kindly donated by our proud sponsors and catering by LOFT 13. Continue on that night with music by the man himself, Louie Lanteri Dance Beat Disco. Swan Hill Races Marquee 13 June - $150 per person includes entry, marquee on front row, beer, wine , soft drink and food. See Karlie Duryea for further details. Today we travel to Lalbert and we wish all our football and netball teams the best.

TOOLEYBUC-MANANGATANG M AY 2 9 VS L A K E B O GA Due to a late switch in the draw we now find ourselves heading out to Lake Boga today in what should be a enthralling day of footy. It was a tough day on the field for most of our footy teams last week at Cohuna with the seniors especially finding it hard work against a strong a well drilled opponent. Best players – John Wardle, Jack Spinks, Mitch Ferrie & Mackie Rogers. Mallee Physio Award – John Wardle. The ressies also found it hard going but to their credit managed to get some reward for their effort on the scoreboard in the last quarter. Awards: Tooleybuc Sporting Club – Keagan Grant, Swan Hill Packaging – John Chislett, Mallee Physio – Ayden Burness, Amaretto Almonds – Sam Morton. After a sluggish start the colts eventually got their game going with the boys in the end recording their second strong win in a row. Awards: WFI –Mackie Rogers, Sunrise Ag – Ryan Domaille, Mallee Physio – Jake Foley, Pooles – Kal Hazlett. The U14’s battled hard & played out the game well in what was a huge effort by everyone. Awards: JA Electrical – Will Domaille, Pearsons Grain – Josh Burford, West Farmers Insurance – Rydar Morris, Subway – Jules Muir.
The U12’s put in another great team effort with the boys being able to get some more practice in for singing the song after the game. Awards: GoFarm – Zac & Jed, Truck Specialist – Zac, Pearsons Grain – Chad, Subway – Cal, Pizza Kitchen - Mason. And this week’s Manang Hotel Auskick award went to Austin Howley. Netball Notes: It was another great effort from the whole Under 12 team this week. Tess Foley was particularly strong in defence, consistently taking intercepts and rebounds. It is wonderful to see passages of play that use our channels and set plays across the court. Exciting times! The 14’s came away with a great win. Awards to Lucy Spinks for consistency through the centre and Olivia Fowler for dominating the defence and with leadership across the court. Thanks to Asha Linford for being our bench, and a big thanks to all the parents/carers for fulfilling important roles on game day. We couldn’t play without your help! Our 16’s unfortunately went down to Cohuna by nine. A tough battle all game, but the girls will go away and work hard, ready to flip the result in the next encounter.
B Res had a very tough day at the court against ladder leaders Cohuna. To the girls credit they went in all guns blazing and with a positive attitude. Sarah Palmer was awarded best on court for her role in defence and the ever realiable Rachael Hoare was awarded the coaches award for her effort in attack. B Grade faced an impressive Cohuna outfit, with the game in the balance until the final minutes. Although it was disappointing not to get the four points, the determination and work rate of all players was very impressive. Award to Hayley Caddy for a great game in goal attack. Exciting day out for A Res with their first win for the season. We welcomed some height into our attacking end which helped immensely. Great job by our defensive duo snagging many intercepts. A Grade were determined to snatch the win this week. The girls held the lead at each change of ends, fighting off any Cohuna resurgence. Zoe Fuller announced she was back with an impressive 40 goal display. Final score, 55-46. Good luck to all teams against Boga!

SWAN HILL M AY 2 9 VS WO O R I N E N Today we head out to Tigerland which are always great contests on the court and field. We have a bit on socially so keep these dates free: • F riday June 4 – an Evening with Gary Ablett Jnr from 6 30 to 8 30. • Saturday June 5 – SHFNC Amazing race. An all ages event where all you need is a designated driver and a can do attitude. $50 per car with $200 first prize! • Saturday July 3 – All inclusive 250 club night. 250 club tickets are now on sale culminating in the all inclusive night with live entertainment. • Saturday July 10 – the return of “Ladies Day”. $50 – all inclusive ticket with giveaways and door prizes. A day not to be missed! To last week’s results against Kerang: Netball The 12 and under team kicked off the day but came up against a strong Kerang side. The junior girls are doing a great job each week. Awards Indi McIntyre. The 14 and under side also played a very strong Kerang team and unfortunately couldn’t bring home a win. Award winners Jaya Jenkins-Jaiswal and Peyton Cutrell. The 16 and under side had a convincing victory against Kerang. They will hope for much of the same again today against the Tigers. Award winners Ava Seymour and Georgie Cameron. 18 and under had a thrilling game last Saturday. The margin at the end was only 2 goals. Award winners Amy Simpson and Emma Atkinson. B Reserve had a strong victory against Kerang and are building a strong record. Award winners Lisa Pekin and Teagan Hore. B Grade also performed well and teamed
well on the court to score a good win. Award winners Karen Thamm and Sophie Reed. A Reserve had a much closer game but got home in the end by 8 goals. Award winners Sophie Balkin and Millie Reed. Kerang proved to be very formidable opponents in A grade with the Swans going down by 25 goals. Football The U12s played one of their best games of the year last week against Kerang. The young side moved the ball very well and are obviously enjoying their football. Award winners Ryder Wilkins, Tallen Hinton, Archie Brown, Lucas Germaine, Ethan Germaine. U14.5s had a convincing win against the Blues last week. They have plenty of talent in the side and when work together will continue to improve. Award winners Harry Scott, Sonny Beasy, Sam Scott, Koby McMillan, Bodhi Kelly and Ty Collins . The colts came up against a very well drilled and organised Kerang side. The boys tried hard all day and will look to do the same again this week against the Tigers. Award winners Kaleb Richards, Buol Majur , Jude Seymour, James Rush , Mac Kelly and Blaize Parsons. The reserves were undermanned and in the end no match for a strong Kerang outfit. The reserves need to put a win on the board against the Tigers today which wont be an easy task. Beer club award went to Hamish Robertson with other better players Darby Meney, Rhys Oxenham, Ben Pearse, Matt Batternally and Connor Power. In the senior game the first quarter was relatively even but Kerang booted 7 goals to zero in the second and third quarters. Last quarter was 2 goals all but the damage was done. Beer Club award went to Tom Spicer with other better players Tom Holdstock, Matt Wade, Brendan Blackmore, Tom Corridan and Tom Pontell. Good luck to all sides today.

Great effort today from the Junior Netball Interleague girls at the Echuca District tournament! The results didn’t go our way for the most part, but everyone represented the League well! We will keep working hard and pick ourselves up for the next tournament in June! Well done to everyone involved in making today happen!

HAY LIONS M AY 2 9 VS N U L L AW I L Round 6 – Quambatook vs Hay (22/05/2021) B Grade Quambatook 49 def Hay 27 A physical game for Hay with Quambatook’s sharp shooting and effective use of turnovers proving to be too good for Hay this time around. Jasmine Gregory (Hay Bowling and Golf Club Best on Court) was once again a standout in Hay’s defence taking many intercepts and taking control of play down the court. Hannah Stewart (Tantrum Players’ Player) was an asset to the team this week working tirelessly in Hay’s mid court and shooting accurately. Daisy Barnes (Moulamein Bowling Club Award) played well in defence, putting good pressure on Quambatook’s shooters. B Reserve Hay 35 def Quambatook 27 Three wins in a row for B Reserve! Some great work in the centre court with Talitha Brown (Hannah McGuffick Hairdressing award), Lucinda Williamson and Therese
Murphy (both tied for Players Player) making some great leads and offers for the ball. Fantastic shooting as always by Trish and Sarah working well with the centre and wing around the circle and the defenders Mardi Davis-Flack (Harrisons IGA award) and Jess Weymouth getting those intercepts and rebounds to send it back down the goal end. Big thanks to Hannah Stewart and Jade Auldist for giving us an option when we needed a rest. Hay is at home next week to Nullawil. F Troop Our girls proved to strong Quambatook to come out winners 30 - 3. All our girls played exceptionally well. Thank you to Grace Auldist (Ricks Parks and Gardens award) and Genevieve Williamson for aiding the other team in playing so we could have a match. Other award winners go to Rachael Taylor (Active Farmers award) for some outstanding goal shooting, Bonnie Matthews (Ricks Parks and Gardens award) for great work centre court and in defence and Emma Brown (Lions Canteen Voucher) for some great wing work always finding an open space and being in-front for the ball.

NULLAWIL M AY 2 9 VS H AY L I O N S Nullawil Football/Netball Notes – Round 6 The Under 14’s kicked off the day with their first win of the season and what a big win it was. The boys played good team football and shared the goals around, with Tynan leading the charge with 4 goals. Final Scores Nully 14.15-99 to Moulamein 1.2-8. Better players were Sol, Tynan, Rhett, Max and Tiger. The Under 17’s had a big win against the previously undefeated Swans. The boys jumped out of the blocks with a 5 goal first quarter, and held a 21-point lead at half time. It was great to see our boys continue to play the ball in the second half and take away a big win, holding Moulamein scoreless during this time. Ayden Herman led the goal kickers with 3 goals. Final Scores Nully 9.16-70 to 2.4-16. Better players were Charlie, Lachie, Dude, Sol and Jason. The Reserves had a big win with some surprisingly accurate goal kicking! Ralph was on fire up forward slotting them from all angles, assisted by the excellent hard running of the midfield. The backline held strong throughout the game, resulting in a comfortable 66-point win. Ralph finished with 6 goals in the 17.6-108 to 6.6-42 win. Better players were Zane, Dude, Renney, Plugger, Freeza and Vearo. The Senior game was billed as the match of the round, with the remaining two undefeated teams in the league clashing. The Nully team were pumped for the match and despite losing Farmer early in the first quarter, put in a dominant display, taking a 46-point lead into quarter time. The dominance continued in the 2nd quarter with the on-ballers running riot, continually pumping the ball inside 50 to Dorf who was marking everything. The backline led by Brett Barker were well on top, restricting Moulamein to 1 point in the first half. A further 17 goals were piled on in the second half, while keeping Moulamein goalless until the last quarter. The result was a
204-point win in our best display of football for the year. Scores Nully 32.21-213 to 1.3-9. Dorf finished with 10 goals, while Rylee and Andrew Casey chipped in with 5-goals each. Best players were Dorf, Quigley, Fordy, Casey, Bamford, Barker and Putt. NETBALL On another beautiful day for sport but hopefully by the next game the girls are playing in wet conditions. The under 14’s are pleasing their coach Simone with their efforts. Jessie and Tessa worked very well in the goals together which earnt the girls the awards. Nullawil 44 def Moulamein 5 The Under 17’s are a very fast versatile team which is proving a headache to the other teams, coaches Meg and Grace are shaping the girls nicely. Nullawil 65 def Moulamein 26 Best players: Charlotte and Ella The B Reserve took on an undermanned Swans team and had a comfortable win with Amy being unstoppable in defence. Nullawil 71 def Moulamein 6 The B grade had another good win and with the added addition of Janelle Hogan, who fits in like a glove, are playing very well. Ella Sheahan was awarded with the best fall of the day. Nullawil 48 def Moulamein 6 The Moulamein girls showed us they could goal from anywhere, but Gemma’s goaling expedition was superb and now that young Paddy Thompson is crawling, we can see new mum Lozza’s fitness increasing as she is having to chase him. Great game by all girls Nullawil 57 def Moulamein 35.

MACORNA TIGERS M AY 2 9 VS M OU L A M E I N NETBALL
Football:
Under 12s: The improvement of these 9 young girls each week is amazing. Even though this week we didn’t manage to score, the enjoyment, sportsmanship and the drive these girls give each week is so great to see. Awards: MMWFP- Kaiya Wishart and Ice cream shop: Colours, Cones and Coffee- Ferris.
Under 14: In a hard fought out game at home against Murrabit, the boys took the lead and held their nerve. One point up late in the last quarter had the spectators involved in what was a great game to watch. When Murrabit kicked a point in the last minute the results were secure! With both teams sharing the four points! Awards: MMWFP- Jack Warren, MRW Speech- Jaxon O’Rourke, Wilson Transport- Broden Wishart and Tonkin Award- Hayden Ray.
Under 14s: Under 17s: The girls dug deep against Murrabit and kept up their fighting spirit right until the end. We had numerous position changes and everyone showed their tiger pride in each role. Ang and Jodie were a force to be reckoned with in defence and Miley, again playing a brilliant game slotting into the team well. Awards: MMWFP- Jodie Jobling and Coaches award- Ang Warren. B res: The girls played a great game against a tough Murrabit side. They put into play what they have working on at training and it’s starting to pay off. Awards: Exchange Hotel- Kylie Rowe and Dee Family- Briana Waterson. B Grade: Our first half we stayed goal for goal making it an enjoyable to watch, fast paced game. Unfortunately an injury in the third quarter made for a big loss at either end of the court and the girls couldn’t recover. Awards: Bennett’s: Samantha Smith, Cruisin Coffee: Taylah Clements A Grade: Well didn’t we learn the hard way how much we miss our tall defence. Murrabit have an incredible side this year and we just couldn’t match them for height and smarts. Sammi Drover tried her guts out all day in GK and got the Exchange Award and Jazz Williams again stood up when her team needed her and took home Husk.
Under 17: Very proud of the team efforts today. Everybody gave 100%. With a few players out this week, it gave others opportunities to step up. A real team performance this week. With Reegan and Will dominating the centre, and Lima and Hunter kicking a bag of 9 goals between them. Awards: MMWFP- Reegan O’Rourke, Intersports Bennetts- Will Robinson and Coaches award- Liam Mathers. Seconds: The Magoo’s are up and about! Be proud of yourselves lads. Enjoy the smile, Aitkey’s 10 goals were super and our backline was amazing. Credit to you boys. Well done! Go Tigers! Awards: Exchange Hotel- Shannon McIntosh, Intersports Bennetts- Kiall Aitken and Coaches award- Mark Carter. Seniors: We faced Murrabit this week, hosting the 50 year senior football Premiership Reunion. Today was nice to see and chat with these legends of the club. We got some inspiration off the Reunion team and it was a seesaw affair all day. Maccas effort on point with Rick hard at it again. Jessie gave his all in the middle and Stiz kicked another 5. We snatched the lead with seconds to go, but Murrabit returned to kick 1 more goal to take the victory by 1 point. . Awards: Worane Farms- Ricky Howell, Webbs Transport- Jacob McIntosh, Coaches award- Jessie Lampi.

MURRABIT M AY 2 9 VS WA N D E L L A I’ve said it before that Autumn is a wonderful time of the year, although going to Macorna it is said with trepidation. But fortuitously, the sun was out! The little U14.5’s found the changerooms spacious and played some great football. The low scoring match coming down to the last kick with Noah Shea able to salvage a draw to start the day. Award Winners: Jed McDonald (Kerang Electronics), Chase Coulter (R&B McNeil), Jack Keath (AB Building), Riley Carse (Subway), Darcy Strange (Lake Charm Salt Co) Our 3rds continue to battle it out each week and applied pressure all over the ground. We welcomed the coached nephew to the club in Luke Rodgers, it was great to see him enter the side and raise the bar in terms of pressure football. The tackle machine was well and truly running on all cylinders for Luke. Award Winners: Luke Rodgers (McKnight & Bray), Sam Copland (Coaches), Ashton Wood (D&J Hein), Chase Coulter (John Morrow) & Bailey Bujdoso (Subway). The Reserves met their match this week with the run of injuries finally catching up with the team. Darcy Gillen was super impressive as he set up across half back. His ambulance was cancelled after it was revealed that it was merely cramp in the last quarter. Award Winners: Craig Weston (Greg Dickson), Chris Hunter (CluBarham), Darcy Gillen (Sh’Marnas Place) & Simon Ettershank (Car Wash) A great start set up the team to hold a strong position early. We had some great contests across the field. It was a nail-biting finish in the end with a mark from Sam Harvey securing our second win for the season and breathing life into the second half of the year. Award Winners: Matt Robinson (Royal Hotel), Blake Wilkinson (Mystic Park Hotel) & Toby Gary (Elders Barham).
Netball Our under 14s had a great game coming home strong in the second half with Immy Cummins (JMM socks) impressing all over the court and Milla Kennedy (Lake Charm salt) was a little dynamo in the attack end. The under 17s let the tigers get an early jump on them and despite an excellent last quarter just couldn’t quite make up the difference, just needed a few more minutes! Sarah Copland (Harvey/Laursen $10) was a clear best on court and Ava Cummins (AB Building $10) did a great job on an opponent she gave away lots of height to. Well the B res could nearly be re named the Tyler and Erica show after last weeks match. All reports are that macorna couldn’t get the ball past Tyler Harrison (Harperbay) as she just kept intercepting it and Erica Cummins (rulcifys) was slotting the goals in from everywhere which meant the team had a good day at the office with a big win. B grade had a bit of a scare being just one up at half time but luckily the defensive duo of Emily Copland (Lingenberg) and Aimee Sinclair (little shoe shop) kept the team in it with their turnovers. They say the third quarter is the premiership quarter and the girls definitely found their rhythm here and hit the scoreboard hard to finish with a 19 goal advantage. A grade continued their fine form with a dominant performance over the tigers. Elly Bookham (Little shoe shop) was relentless with her running into attack and found the goalies with ease and Kalinda Stanton (TWC) was leaping and pulling the ball in from everywhere in defence.

Ultima 31 Wandella 41
It was so awesome watching the girls play and they played so well as a team. Great talk down the court and directing play. Well done to Scarlett for receiving the award this week, well deserved.
Great first half with many positives. Things were coming together. We kept fighting, but in the end unfortunately we just couldn’t string together the full 4 quarters. Awards went to Ash for holding front position so strong in the ring, Trine for being our little pocket rocket and impressing with her passes and defensive pressure, and Charlie for getting long arms over the ball and putting defensive pressure on every pass.

B Reserve Ultima 42 Wandella 22 The B Res side worked really hard as a team and it reflected in the score line at the final whistle. They were able to adjust their game, as many positional changes were made, to put out four strong quarters.
Another great game against Wandella in perfect conditions. It was a close game, heading into both half time and three quarter time trailing by 1. Our fourth quarter was phenomenal, keeping Wandella to just one goal. Next week sees us having a week off, then we are excited to see how we match up against everyone the second time round. Best players and awards went to Lou for her constant leadership and direction at both ends and Grace for her hustle and fight under the ring.

QUAMBATOOK M AY 2 9 VS U LT I M A Netball:
Football
U12’s Well Done to all our Under 12s that played on Saturday. 6 quarters with only 6 players. Thank you to Gracie and Jenive for filling in from Hay. The Ladies Committee award went to Ally for her game in the goals and centre and the Drink Bottle Award went to Charlea that played on the wings. Also a Happy Birthday to Harper and a big thank you to Tara Curran for the cakes, lollies and oranges the kids all got to share after the game.
Reserves The seconds got off to a better start last week with Dan Mitchell and Jack Bennett goaling in the first quarter. Unfortunately that was the only time they could find the big sticks for the game. Tim Free pulled on the boots to help the boys out and showed glimpses of old form with driving kicks out of the backline. Fidge and Kyle kept busy trying to repel Hay’s attacks and Tex and Adam Davis worked hard in the ruck. Alex and Axel never stopped trying all day but Hay were far too strong.
B Reserve The girls were a little short on numbers, but that didn’t stop them from trying their absolute hardest. They put lots of pressure on Hay all over the court, and scored some brilliant goals, but unfortunately in the last quarter we just ran out of legs and let Hay slip away. After such a close game last week, the girls will be trying even harder for the win this week! Awards: B.Denton - Mystic Park Hotel K.Thomas- Exchange Hotel B Grade The girls finally got the win they have been chasing all season! They were a little short on numbers this week but D.Coote came to the rescue and slotted in like she had never left! D.Boyd was incredible in defence barely letting her goalie get near the ball. R.Koutras barely missed a goal all game, helping to cement the win for the girls! Fingers crossed they can back it up again this weekend!
Best players: Adam Davis, Brad Gilbert, Alex Ferguson, Fidge, Tim Free, Jack Bennett. Seniors Not sure what the coaches said at half time last week but what an incredible turnaround in the second half. Trailing by 16 pts at half time the Saints piled on 11 goals to 3 in a 40 pt victory and are a game clear in 4th spot on the ladder. After a sluggish start the boys kicked 8 goals in the third quarter, Will Collicoat and Mick Bradbury scoring 2 each while Jack, Crusher and Ash were cutting off everything at the other end. Rhys, Rick and Tobie created plenty of opportunities and Jonty played a big role at half forward.
Awards:
Goals: C.Kendall, W.Collicoat, M.Bradbury, R.Wild, C.Williams 2 each.
D. Boyd - Mallee Physio
A.Cook 1, L.Jongebloed, J.Taylor 1.
R. Koutras - Mystic Park Hotel
Best players: J. Baker, T. Cameron, J. Taylor, J. Schlitz, L. Jongebloed, R. Wild.
