The Dandenong Southern Stingrays staved off a dogged Northern Knights outfit to emerge victors by twenty nine points on a cool Saturday morning at Shepley Oval Dandenong. Boasting 10 changes with a full list to choose from, the Stingrays’ impressive squad led for the entire day, but a determined last quarter from the Knights flattered the end score line. In the end the first half margin was too much for the Knights, with an exhausted Stingrays group hanging on 14. 5 (89) to 8. 12 (60) with a clinical win. AFL Victoria TAC Cup veterans Luke Davies-Uniacke, Oscar Clavarino, Hunter Clark, Mason deWit and Bailey Morrish all led from the front, collecting plenty of disposals and having a widespread impact. Equally impressive were the efforts of Riley D’Arcy, who finished the day with four goals and gave the Rays with a strong target inside 50. Down back, Captains Oscar Clavarino, Josh Bateman and the much improved Jesse Davies and Angus Paterson were pillars of defence, standing firm against Northern’s worthy forward line. “The game really could have gone either way in the end, we were fortunate enough to get across the line today due to the work rate in the first half, and that gives the boys some real confidence, as we come to the back end of the TAC Cup season, ” Stingrays’ senior coach Craig Black said post-match. “With 10 changes you never know what to expect, it’s the first time since round 1 we’ve been able to basically pick from our full list.” He add, “The focus the boys are brining each week no matter who plays is very impressive.” Black concluded by saying, “We had a good spread of goal kickers which again is pleasing, plus a little special moment for Aiden who returned for his first game kicking our first goal…he defiantly will be better off for the game under his belt.” The first quarter saw the visiting side come out and attack immediately, but it would take just 2 minutes before the first major was kicked. It was if the script had been written, after sitting out the past two years battling some major injuries Aiden Bonar announced himself back marking strongly and kicking truly 35 metres out with a flood of emotion and player support welcoming him back to the game. The Knights responded with one of their own, but the Stingrays were dominating through the middle, continually peppering inside 50’s allowing goals to Lachlan Young, Riley D’Arcy and Riley Bowman to come into the huddle with a little bit of confidence leading 25-8. The second quarter saw the home side flex its muscle with four more goals to set the tone for the attacking Stingrays,
who looked dangerous when they committed to their runand-carry style of play, going into the half-time break 8. 2 (50) to 1. 6 (12). Goals came through Luke Davies Uniacke (2) who was enjoying his time in the forward half, Riley D’Arcy and the ever dangerous Jai Nanscawen, whilst limiting the Knights to four shots on goal, all points. The third started with neither side willing to allow the opposition to gain the first score, with the deadlock broken at the 7 minute mark through Tom Dekoning to extend the lead to 35 points. The Knights started to look dangerous but couldn’t get the reward on the scoreboard. Dandenong needed their leaders to stand up in the face of the Knights momentum – and the likes of Josh Bateman, Oscar Clavarino, Luke Davies- Uniacke, Jesse Davies and Bailey Morrish did just that. Luke Davies-Uniacke was menacing in the middle, Clavarino was marking everything in sight, whilst Davies and Angus Paterson nullified the well regarded opponents. The Stingrays added three more goals, but allowed the Knights to kick two in a row and grow in a little in confidence before Riley D’Arcy marked strongly on the siren and kicked truly giving the Stingrays a comfortable lead of 46 points at the end of the third. The last quarter saw the Stingrays go in with two less players with Mason de Wit gone for the day with a back injury, whilst Aiden Bonar’s day was over due to pre-planned game time. It was a disappointing last quarter for the Stingrays with the Knights taking their turn for some hard running, kicking four last quarter goals to the Stingrays two, which saw many Stingrays players moved to different positions to stem the flow of goals. The win puts the Stingrays in good stead, basically securing a finals spot whilst enjoying the weeks rest due to the TAC Cup Bye. In two weeks- time Dandenong head to Frankston Park to take on the Gippsland Power in a TAC Cup double header, that will Sandringham take on the Western Jets prior to the Stingrays game. Vic Country prepare for AFL National Inclusion Carnival The best Victorian FIDA footballers are preparing to don the Big-V jumper this week, when Vic Country and Vic Metro head north for the 2017 AFL National Inclusion Carnival on July 24. Held at the Gold Coast, the AFL National Inclusion Carnival brings together footballers with an intellectual disability from across Australia to take part in a week-long round-robin tournament. For the first time, all states and territories will have a team represented in the competition, with squads from the Northern Territory and Western Australia joining regular competitors Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia, NSW/ACT, Vic Metro and Vic Country. Forty of Victoria’s best footballers with an intellectual disability, including eight emergencies, have been selected to form the two Victorian represent squads. Of the twenty players in the Vic Country side, nine country community FIDA (Football Integration Development Association) clubs are represented, with players hailing from both the CVGT
Australia Northern Conference and Western Conference. Claiming the 2014 National Inclusion Carnival title and finishing third last season, Vic Country will look to run over fellow statesmen Vic Metro who is keen to extend its national championship winning streak and secure its third consecutive title. Leading the Vic Country side once again is head coach Matt Deegan, who says he is focused on helping his players develop into fine young men, both on and off the field. “We have formulated a really good squad this year and I am really happy with how the team is shaping up,” Deegan said. “Win, lose or draw, I personally just want to see the boys have fun and create some life-long friends they can hang onto for the rest of their lives, that is what footy is all about.” Keep up to date with all the results from the 2017 AFL National Inclusion Carnival on social media using the hashtag #AFLInclusion

Opportunities are everywhere. With finals fast approaching there is a myriad of individuals vying for those precious finals appointments. The field umpires are honing their whistle blowing skills, the boundary umpires are running even faster between the behind posts and the goal umpires are practicing in front of the mirror (my mirror cracked it was put under so much pressure) just in case they get the opportunity to umpire on the big day. There have however been some fresh faces umpiring the big games each weekend and these umpires have earned their spots and performed well on their senior umpiring debuts. I include Field, Boundary and Goal umpires in this group. I believe however last week’s debut was the most anticipated of SUAs history. (Anticipated by the individual himself). Rumour has it is that he slept at the ground on the Friday night before the game just so he wouldn’t be late. So, a big belated congratulation goes out to everyone’s favourite trumpet playing field umpire Daniel Shorthouse. Well done Shorty on your long awaited senior debut (11 years I am led to believe). You are proof that if you train hard and persist that any goal is achievable. Upcoming events Annual SUA Golf day: When: Sunday July 30.

BEACONSFIELD 6.5.41 LOST NARRE WARREN 18.12.120 Beaconsfield changed things-up to start the game, with big man Scott Meyer lining-up at full forward and it reaped instant dividends but the momentum was short-lived as Narre Warren went to work. The Magpies came out with intent to be first at the footy and were getting numbers around each contest which strangled The Eagles forward play. Narre booted six of the next seven goals and led by 27 points at the first change. Aaron Wilson was causing the Beaconsfield defence plenty of headaches, Wilson booted his third early in the second term the visitors were out to a comfortable 33 point lead. The second quarter was a tight contest with neither team able to gain any ascendancy, Mitch Cox was starting to impose himself into the contest as Narre took a 35 point lead into the main change. Beaconsfield didn’t seem to have their same venom, they made uncharacteristic mistakes and suffered through poor use of football. Narre were able to outwork and outmuscle the home-side in nearly every contest. Beaconsfield were expected to provide a fightback in the third term but it didn’t go that way. Narre showed plenty of resolve and made it difficult for Beacy to get into the contest. Jake Richardson marked strongly early in the quarter and kicked a nice goal, before Beacy hit back with two-in-a-row for the first time in the match as the margin reduced to under five goals. It was Beacy’s only highlight as they had no answer to the Narre’s onslaught. From the 12 minute mark of the third quarter Narre played a confident brand of football, The Magpies kicked nine of the last 10 goals for the match. Mitch Cox was unstoppable in the midfield and he led the charge to victory finishing the day best afield and booted 4 goals. Aaron Wilson, Jake Richardson and Nick Scanlan combined for 10 goals and looked to have a formidable partnership in front of goal.
OFFICER 16.4.100 DEF TOORADIN 13.8.86 Officer welcomed Tooradin with both teams evenly placed on the ladder. It was Officer who capitalised on every forward opportunity and kicked accurately, eight goals without a miss which ensured the home side maintained a slight lead and carried the momentum into the main change. Although Tooradin had more scoring shots in the first half (11-8) they trialled by 12 points. The Kangaroos had one of their strongest line-ups in recent weeks and with an even contribution they managed to withstand any second half comeback. Tooradin continued to fight but their pressure wasn’t reflected on the scoreboard as Officer always had the answer. The Kangaroos maintained their two goal lead throughout the third quarter. The last quarter was highly entertaining with both teams exchanging goals. The Seagulls were unable to close the margin as both teams kicked five goals apiece. Matty Clarke
was great inside forward 50 booting 4 goals, the Roos had five other multiple goal kickers in their 14 point confidence building win at home. Julian Suarez got forward and combined with Andrew Dean to kick seven goals between them for the visitors. The loss could come back to haunt Tooradin as they have now fallen three games outside the top 5. Tooradin will need to re-group to finish the season off well and carry that momentum in next year’s pre-season. Officer turned their disappointing month of football around and would have had plenty to celebrate, as this has been one of their more competitive seasons in recent history.
HAMPTON PARK 1.3.9 LOST TO CRANBOURNE 30.29.209 Hampton Park may have felt they were handed a tough draw facing last year’s premiers first-up but it became hard again as Cranbourne entered Robert Booth Reserve seething after a disappointing loss at the hands of Berwick. The Eagles have had the wood over Hampton Park in recent years and this week was no different a 22 goal first half had the Eagles in front by 140 points at half-time. Troy Tharle was tall, big and strong in the air and contributed on the scoreboard. Tharle booted nine goals in a best on ground performance. Cranbourne didn’t capitalise as well as they could have in the second half of play. Inaccurate kicking prevented The Eagles kicking a huge score as they kicked 8.13 restricting The Redbacks to a solidarity behind. Hampton Park’s midfield continue to work hard for little reward but it’s providing a great learning experience for their young core. As expected Cranbourne extended their lead to 200 points at the final siren.
PAKENHAM 5.1.31 LOST TO BERWICK 17.15.117 A scrappy first quarter saw both teams only kick one goal and the undefeated Berwick had a five point lead at quarter time. Berwick started to take control of the match during the second quarter kicking five goals as Pakenham struggled to score and were behind by 39 points at halftime. James Harrison, Tim Gunn and Brody Connelly was combining well up forward for the Wickers. The third quarter was a lot more even as The Lions managed to find avenues to goal but it wasn’t enough to contain the margin as they trailed by 47 points with a quarter to go. Berwick’s midfield led by Maddi Andrews are always a tough egg to crack, and Andrews led his soldiers once again. Andrews has been in terrific form this season. Berwick booted six goals while keeping Pakenham goalless for the last quarter. The Wickers had the luxury of six multiple goal kickers, they were never truly tested in their 86 point win.

BERWICK V DOVETON
OFFICER V PAKENHAM
Round 7 - Doveton 8.8.56 lost to Berwick 15.15.105
Last Time - Round 3 Pakenham 7.10.52 lost to Officer 13.18.96
Is there anything that can stop the rampant Wickers? After 13 Rounds of football only one team has come within three goals all season. It’s a remarkable effort for a team that lost so much firepower during the offseason, their attack was a question mark before the season, having three players in the top 10 goal kickers show how potent their new look line-up has become. Doveton have had two weeks to prepare for this contest as the Doves will be hoping to field their strongest line up in a month of football. Doveton have shown glimpses of brilliance during the season but unfortunately the glimpses don’t occur enough against the top few teams in the competition. Nick Battle looks fit and leads the charge for The Doves. Battle forms a formidable partnership with big man Rus Gabriel. This combination is often used at stoppages to get the ball going forward for Doveton. Week in and week out you read the reports on just how good this Berwick outfit really is. Many pundits are saying hand Berwick the flag now, but coach Stewart Kemperman still knows there is plenty of hard work to get through before raising the cup. Doveton are capable of pulling out the remarkable and with fresh legs will today be the day? Taylor Joyce will have had a week to freshen up, the combination with the Hendy boys will need to capitalise on any chance that falls their way. Doveton will have to maintain a physical presence around the contest for the full four quarters. Berwick appears to have the class edge and although scores could be close, Berwick will have enough juice to ensure their 13th win in a row. Berwick by 63 points.
With Officer returning to near full fitness we saw a much better performance from the Roos last week which will give the team a much needed boost of confidence. Officer are at home for the second time in a row as they welcome highway rival Pakenham. In their first encounter Officer was too strong winning by 44 points in a statement to which team had improved the most during the offseason. A week ago you would have considered Officer vulnerable against Pakengam but a return to form defeating Tooradin has seen their stocks rise and a win here would move them to 6th on the ladder. Pakenham have been more competitive in the second half of the season as the players adjust to new playing styles and game plans. Ash Green has developed a great rebounding half-back line and if provided latitude they can hurt you on the rebound. The Lions will try and make this a physical contest around the football, Officer needs to be smart with their ball movement and try and get the ball forward quickly. A win here for either side will be just reward for their hard work on the track. Officer come into the contest further along with their development plan and look set to make it back-to-back wins which will help with momentum to finish the season. The Lions could be in the contest for a long time so the Kangaroos can’t tread too lightly with this one. Officer by 23 points
NARRE WARREN V CRANBOURNE Last Time - Round 8 Cranbourne 21.10.36 def Narre Warren 12.12.84 Traditional foes meet again at Kalora Park, as Narre Warren welcome Cranbourne in a match which can define their seasons. The Magpies should be full of confidence after a sterling performance against Beaconsfield, Can this be a return to form for the leagues nemesis? Cranbourne was stung into action last weekend getting the job done comfortably against Hampton Park. Can 1 win confirm a return to form? Narre will have to bring that sort of intensity at the football each and every week to ensure a competitive ruthless performance. The Magpies face another test this week at home and will need to bring their very best against an Eagles outfit not willing to give an inch. Cranbourne play their best football when tested and Coach Simon Goosey will hope his young chargers bring the mindset to be strong at the football. Cranbourne’s defence match-up well against Narre Warren, Narre will be hoping league leading goal kicker Nick Scanlan brings his kicking boots this week. Aaron Wilson played well again up forward and will be a player the Eagles defence zone in on. It’s a bit cliché but the game will be won in the midfield, and it won’t be for the faint hearted. You can expect both teams to dominate in periods, which team can sustain their performance for the longest will secure the prized four points. Cranbourne by 9 points.
TOORADIN V BEACONSFIELD Last Time - Round 2 Beaconsfield 12.11.83 def Tooradin 3.4.22 Two of the big birds in the competition, The Seagulls and The Eagles had their wings clipped losing matches they were both expected to win. The loses had ramifications for both sides, Tooradin will find it hard to make the finals as they’re now three games outside the five, while Beaconsfield’s loss has them in third but only by percentage. Beaconsfield didn’t have the same vigour about their game last week, maybe coming off the bye affected the young side. Beacy will need to address their intent with the football both when they have it and when they don’t. The Eagles were outworked and outmuscled by Narre last week and they will need to bring the intensity back to their game to get the win this week. This game will have a little spice with two former Beaconsfield players lining-up against opponents they were training with six months ago. Tooradin have some big experienced bodies around the contest and The Gulls will need them to play at their best and impose themselves early in the contest. After hitting the scoreboard a lot in three matches before the bye, Beaconsfield were restricted to only six goals from 11 scoring shots lacking potency in attack. If Tooradin can strike early and apply some scoreboard pressure, their fancied rivals might feel the pinch. Beaconsfield have now put themselves under pressure to perform, as they can’t afford a loss away from home. An Eagles loss here could see them drop to 5th, their lowest point of the season. Beaconsfield to respond and take care of business as would be the expectation from a finals contender. Beacy by 47 points

We had another three wins by the club again this week, which is a great effort from all the players, coaches and volunteers. Well done everyone. The U19s kicked off the day at Holm Park vs. Beaconsfield. Our boys knew they had a big challenge ahead given Beacy’s 10-1 record for the season. However following the last few weeks they knew they had a good chance if they played their best. It was neck and neck all game, with our boys getting up right on the siren. I big well done should go to James McLean who kicked 8 of the 12 goals for the team. Tom Hillard kicked 3 goals. Keep up the great work boys, if you work hard and keep improving you just never know how far you can go this year. The Reserves and Seniors played Pakenham at Pakenham. The Reserves had another strong win getting up by 123 points. There was a total of ten goal kickers for the game with Harry Money having another great day out kicking 9 goals and Tom Gillies kicking 3 goals. It was good to see the boys kick a big score after only kicking 3 goals last week.
The Seniors also had another good win. After a slow start kicking 1.5 in the first ¼ the boys got on top in the second kicking away to a 39 point lead by ½ time. Paky fought back in the 3rd ¼ kicking 4 goals to our 5, however we kicked away again in the last to run out winners by 86 points. The goals were shared around with Harrison, Connelly and Gunn all kicking 3, Magner, Thomas and Morozoff kicking 2 each, with singles to Asher and Harold. Once again it was another good team effort, well done guys. All three teams are at home to Doveton this week, which promises to be another good challenge for the club. We also have our Past Players and Premiership reunion function on this Saturday, we look forward to seeing many of the old names in the social club on the day. See you all at the footy, GO WICKERS

The under 19s had the bye 2 weeks ago due to Hampton Park not fielding a team, but took on Cranbourne last weekend. With the seniors having a bye we had 7 players back available which was a luxury but the boys started slowly and cranny kicked the first 4 goals. After quarter time the doves kicked into gear and dominated the game leading by 21 points in the last qtr we switched off watching Cranny kick 3 quick goals to set up a nail biter!! Luke Coad kicked his 4th to seal the game with under 2 minutes remaining. Shannon Brennan, Ricky Johnson & Josh Bradley were all brilliant for the Doves. Two weekends ago now we welcomed Hampton Park to our home which our boys were excited for. Unfortunately at the last minute Hampton Park reserves side had to forfeit due to not fielding enough players due to injury. Our boys enjoyed a scratch match against each other before heading inside to watch our seniors dominate. Our seniors were excited to welcome back Taylor Joyce, Michael Henry and Aaron Davey back all from injury and were ready to take on Hampton Park. By half time we managed to pile on 20 goals and we didn’t look at slowing down. Shannon Henwood dominated the forward line with 9 goals and accompanied by Taylor Joyce with 8 for the day – amazing effort guys. Nick Battle & Big Russ worked tirelessly the whole game with best on ground performances by both. This week we take on Berwick away who are sitting on top of the ladder. Functions: On Saturday 29th July, we are hosting our last function for the year after the Tooradin match. Bizarre Gazzard is an on stage hypnotism show and is guaranteed laugh and great night. Tickets are $100 per person, for a sit down meal and beer/wine/cider all night. As well as door prizes and comedy show. $50.00 tickets are available for people, which does not include the drinks package. See Aaron Henwood to purchase your tickets. Good Luck to all our wonderful Footballers and Netballers this weekend against Berwick! Also a massive thank you to our wonderful committee members, scorers, time keepers, water boys, court supervisors, runners, volunteers in the canteen & training staff who continue to make our club run like clockwork! Without you guys we wouldn’t take the field or court every week! Go doves #doveylove

Round 13 Footy Review Narre brought its A Game to Beaconsfield last week to score emphatic wins in both the Ones and Twos; while our Under 19B had a great win over Pakenham. Seniors – In the Ones, Narre showed Beacy we had come to play with a slick 6-goal opening quarter. Trent Papworth was giving the competition’s premier ruckman a great contest; our midfielders were running in numbers and our multi-pronged forward line was breaking open Beacy’s defence. Mitch Cox (4 goals), Aaron Wilson (4); Nick Scanlon (3) and Jake Richardson (3) kept scoreboard pressure up all day to nail our 13-goal win. Josh Tonna was at his brilliant best in traffic, Collo and Dean Kelly took control in the midfield, and Sammy McLean justified the selectors’ confidence in him with a strong game across half back. But Narre had no passengers in a ripping 4 quarter/22 player performance. Reserves - The Twos match was 1 v 2, but Narre’s undefeated Reserves never gave Beacy a sniff after quarter time. We now sit clear on top of the ladder with an impressive percentage of 420% past the halfway mark of the season. This was a game against a quality opponent, but Narre’s team-play was outstanding – at times our ball movement was sublime as we kicked seven goals to Beacy’s one after the main break.
Mitch Tonna was impassable across the defensive line, JB Faustin and Corie Intveen played their best games for the season; while Andy Vella, Nick Mashado and Brent Urwin were prominent in a consummate team performance. Get down early and watch these guys. They’re playing brilliant footy! Under 19B – Round 4 of the split league saw our boys take our home game down the highway to Pakenham. After a close finish early in the season we liked our chances after a solid week on the training track. After Pakenham kicked the first goal our boys were able to get a couple back and by half time take in a 19 point lead. In the second half Narre controlled the footy well and used the big open spaces of the ground to their advantage. Pakie pressed hard but could only reduce our lead down to points by the final break. Our boys fought hard all the way to the final siren running out winners by 21 points. Its was a great team effort and a game where no single player stood out as the best, although Dylan Mutimer enjoyed the open wings and was a key in moving the ball forward. He along with Zac Gullivan, Lochie Baker , Kyle Graham and Adam Machnikowski made excellent contributions.

Last weekend the Seniors and Reserves went to Hampton Park while the Under 19As travelled to Doveton. The 19B’s had a bye. The Under 19A’s kicked the day off at Robinson Reserve in a game they needed to win to get back on to the winner’s list. At ¼ time things were going to plan as we went into the first break with a four goal to nothing lead. Unfortunately, that’s where our dominance ended. The Doves got back in to it with a strong second quarter and from there we attempted to get ourselves back in to the game but struggled. While we went down by only nine points, this score line probably flattered us a little as we appear to have lost our fighting instinct and desire to win the contest at every opportunity. I am sure Dom will be looking closely at our full list this week to see who is committed to the cause. Best were Richo, Tom Stiglich, Keeno, Bailey, Sean Wilson and Jack Benham. The twos conceded the first goal of the game against the bottom placed Hampton Park and held them goalless for the rest of the game as we ran out easy 100+ point winners. Given our list of injuries, it has been hard work ensuring we are putting the best side out on the park but credit to those that have played and contributed towards ensuring our season gets back on track. Best for the twos were Spud, Fish, Roscoe, Jake Stephens, Miceli and Chaz. The seniors were also coming off a solid win and faced a yet-to-win Hampton Park. Frankly, our first half was first class as we piled on 22 goals to one yet our second half was nothing to write home about as we only produced eight goals in the back half. Sure we kept HP goalless after half time but it was our conversion that went missing as we kicked 8.13 in the second half to 22.16 in the first. Still, we come away reasonably injury free and look forward to taking on Narre Warren next Saturday at Fox Rd. Best for us were Moz (9 Goals), Dill, Jake, Fletch, Ty and Dicko. Events $5K Draw #2 is on August 5th at the rooms. Get your tickets over the bar or on Thursday nights to ensure you don’t miss out on a great day/night. $60/head gets you in to the function, a chance to win one of three cash prizes as well as spot draws throughout the event. And drinks are ½ price all night. Good luck to all teams today. Go Eagles!!

Welcome everyone to our second successive home game, this week against our arch-rivals Pakenham. Last week we held our annual Sponsors and Life Members lunch - thanks to all those who attended and to our speakers on the day. Matt Payne MC’d the day and president Barry welcomed and thanked our guests. Barry spoke briefly on recent Club history then welcomed our Senior coach Doug Koop who briefed the gathering on his thoughts about coming to Officer as a coach after many years of playing and coaching against us. Our special guest Ryan Ford from the SEFNL gave an informative talk on the current situation regarding the proposed move to a Divisional structure for football and netball in 2018. Ryan fielded a number of questions from the floor and didn’t dodge any of the issues raised and we thank Ryan for his forthrightness. Gareth Sheean also provided those present with an update on his sub-Committee’s progress in relation to the new Community Facility buildings.
Good luck to all teams today - matches against our close neighbours Pakenham are always hard fought and we can look forward to some hard and fast football today. Don’t forget your tickets in the Reverse Draw coming up in a few weeks. This is your chance to share in $10,000 in cash prizes - tickets are available from players and committee members.
Last week’s games against Tooradin saw us come way with three wins. Congratulations to all three teams. The Under 19’s kicked the day off with a 45 point win before the Reserves added another win with a hard-fought 16 point victory. After conceding the first goal the Seniors quickly hit back to take the lead which they maintained for the rest of the game. Scores remained close in a typical Officer/ Tooradin tight struggle with the boys holding on for a 14 point win.

Last week we hosted our Lion Tamers Members day at the football club, where we thanked all of the Lion Tamers for being proud and passionate members of the football club. Without there support, the football club wouldn’t exist. We sincerely thank them for all that they do for our great club. On the field was extremely disappointing. The under 19s were beaten by Narre Warren. Pakenham had their chances blown in the 2nd quarter, whereby Narre Warren fully controlled the game. Their bad kicking for goal, kept us in the game at half time, however we weren’t able to claw the deficit back.
The Seniors were always going to be up against it against the Premiership Favourites in Berwick. As has been the case for most of the year, we start ok but the dominance of the more fancied sides in the competition, blow us away in the last quarters. We just have to keep at it, work hard during the week and try to keep on improving week in week out.
In the Ressies, we had a few lion tamers members playing. Due to a run of injuries and a couple of suspensions we had to call on the old blokes to help us field a side. We had Sunny Wouters, Tommy O, Trav Delarue, Matty Wouters and Clint Walker pull on the Pakky jumper. Between them they hold 13 Senior Premierships, close to 1200 Senior games and countless other accolades. In the end, we were comprehensively beaten, but just to get a side on the park against Berwick was a credit to the boys that filled in at the last minute.

BEACONSFIELD 40 LOST TO NARRE WARREN 43 In one of the matches of the season Beaconsfield welcomed Narre Warren and a titanic battle ensured. Both teams weren’t at 100% with players unavailable with VNL commitments. The margin stayed close as two of the most competitive outfits went to battle. The Magpies led by a point at quarter-time, to be reined in by the resurgent Eagles who recaptured the lead by three goals at halftime. Scores were tied with 15 minutes to go as both teams pulled out all the stops. Narre Warren had a different look in attack with young goalers in attack. Jemma Osborne and Kaeleigh Brown had to step up in a finals like atmosphere. Beacy had their own players sidelined but ever reliable Bianca Sanzaro contributed 26 goals but it wasn’t enough as Narre won the crucial midcourt battle with Bec Potalej, Leigh Taylor and experienced campaigner Erin Clark playing well. Their strong third quarter continued as last year’s premiers recorded their 35 win from 36 matches winning by three goals and move into second on the ladder.
HAMPTON PARK 35 LOST TO CRANBOURNE 51 After back-to-back drawn matches The Eagles were desperate to return to the winners list. With a finals birth on the line Cranbourne wanted to take control of the match early. With seasoned defenders unavailable Cranbourne had to rely on experienced players like Jodie Holt to step up with support from the likes of Hayley Galpin and Allie Oakenfull. The Eagles were in control for most of the match as they extended their lead at every break. Megan Cripps and Bec Hall battled hard for the Redbacks but the Eagles controlled the midcourt with Nat Sparks and Mel Perrin’s dominating in their impressive 16 goal win away at Robert Booth Reserve.
PAKENHAM 50 LOST TO BERWICK 54 Pakenham gunning for their first win of the season had Berwick in their sights early on. The Wickers got on top during the first quarter with Itagia Amataga and Emily Wilson leading the charge from up front. It looked like Berwick were in full control leading by four goals at quarter-time but the Lions came ready to fight. Pakenham midcourters Renae Joiner and Carly Saunders started to win their fair share of the ball, setting up the Lions with positive forward play. The teams shared the honours in the second as Berwick still had a small lead of 4 goals at the main change. Amataga came out after halftime and put on a clinic, the young shooting star putting through 14 goals to help the Wickers build a sustainable nine goal with 15 minutes to go. Pakenham never gave up, The Lions played one of their best quarters for the season, winning the quarter 15 goals to 10 but it wasn’t enough to win. Kyra Esler tried her heart out in attack, shooting 30 goals for the home side as they went down gallantly by only four goals.
ROC 38 LOST TO TOORADIN 50 ROC had shown some improvement in recent weeks but was always faced with a tough prospect taking on the ladder leaders, Tooradin on their own home court. The Seagulls assumed control of the match during the second term outscoring the Kangaroos 15-4. Tooradin had players unavailable due to VNL duties, it provided an opportunity for players to rotate positions. Shona Wells and Holly Gillespie ensured the ascendancy was with the visitors all afternoon due to their dominance in the midcourt. The Alex’s - Alex Duff and Alex Maher had a great contest against experienced Roos defenders Mel Overdyk and Laura Quinn. Tooradin controlled the match after half-time and found themselves in a winning position early in the third quarter. Tooradin ran out victors by 12 goals and remain one game clear on top of the ladder.

ROC V PAKENHAM
Last Time Round 7 - Doveton 57 def Berwick 51
Last Time - Round 3 Pakenham 25 lost to ROC 53
Berwick welcome Doveton off a tough hard fought win against Pakenham. Berwick’s finals aspirations have taken a dive but they will be looking to continue their good form to finish off the season. Doveton come into the contest fresh off the bye and are 10 points clear of 6th. Berwick will look to make it a tough contest, if their shooters can get enough supply they will put Doveton under scoreboard pressure. Berwick are averaging more goals a game then Doveton and if they bring their best they should be in the contest until the end. Doveton appear to have a touch of class when at full strength and could be too strong for the hardworking Wickers. Doveton by 6 goals.
ROC have found a new gear in the past month of netball. The Roos have been competitive for longer including a hard fought draw against Cranbourne. ROC’s best performance for the season was back in Round Three against Pakenham when they shot 53 goals. Pakenham put in one of their better performances for the season nearly upsetting Berwick just going down by four goals. It’s been a long time between wins for both sides which makes this an even contest. If ROC can reproduce their performance from last week they might find themselves be too strong at home. ROC by 5 goals
NARRE WARREN V CRANBOURNE Last Time - Round 8 Cranbourne 44 lost to Narre Warren 46 Narre Warren sent a message to the competition with a strong win at Beaconsfield putting them one game off top of the ladder. Narre welcome another finals contender Cranbourne. The teams only met six rounds ago and it was a thrilling contest. Cranbourne has been in some tight contests over the past month including two draws but were too strong for Hampton Park, the win all but securing their position amongst the top 5 teams. Narre has improved as the season has progressed a win at home does look likely. The scores could be tight early as Cranbourne have a strong defence to rely on. Narre look to have a bit too much class across the court and record their eighth consecutive win in a row and keep the pressure on Tooradin in first place on the ladder. Narre by 7 goals.
TOORADIN V BEACONSFIELD Last Time - Round 2 Beaconsfield 33 lost to Tooradin 50 Beaconsfield knew these two weeks would be a test but also an opportunity to see exactly where they are at this stage of the season. The Eagles fell short against Narre but will looking to regain focus against the ladder leading Seagulls. Tooradin have been the benchmark all season their strong form have them sitting on top of the ladder for majority of the season. This weekends will be a closer contest then when they met back in Round Two when The Seagulls were too good by 17 goals. It’s a big game for both clubs and also a possible grand final preview. A loss here will make it difficult for Beaconsfield to finish on top. With so much on the line for both teams, scoring from turnovers will be vital. Tooradin are still second ranked for offence and the best ranked defence so it won’t be an easy task for Beaconsfield to travel to Tooradin and win the four points. Tooradin by 3 goals.

berwick With the sun out shining, Round 13 proved to be a very tight contest for our Wicker Chicks as Pakenham came out fighting in all grades. With a mixed bag of results, 4 wins and 6 losses, it just shows how any team can get the upper hand on any day. The home stretch to finals is now upon us, and our juniors look to be in very good form heading into this period. Our senior girls may not be getting the illustrious win on the scoreboard or securing those 4 points, but they are however gaining confidence, experience and improvement as each round goes by. Clubs need to go through rebuild phases at one point or another to start a new foundation of which to build from, we may not be reaping the rewards in the present, but the future looks beyond promising!
We also would like to invite all club members, family & friends to our 90’s night Berwick Football/Netball Club Function. The event will be held August 12th commencing at 7:30pm and we encourage everyone attending to dress up in their best (or worst) 90’s fashion and enjoy a great night of fun with all the people that make our club what it is!
Results from Round 13 are as follows; 13 Red won 37-8 13 White lost 21-22 15 Red won 30-20 15 White lost 18-19 17 Red lost 18-32 17 White lost 17-24 D Grade lost 26-27 C Grade won 30-21 B Grade lost 33-49 A Grade won 54-50

U13 Red: Awesome game girls, only having 7 and dropping to 6 in the third quarter again showed me you have come a long way and can lift together as a team. To still walk away with a 19 goal win was amazing.
being 5 down at half time to take the win by 5 was a fantastic achievement by all! Let’s keep up the great energy and put some hard yards in at training. MVP Shani. Great work my Doves!
U15 Red: What an amazing game. With 2 players out, we saw 3 of our U15 whites players step up and we cannot thank you guys enough. Congratulations to our midcourt who worked tirelessly throughout the whole game in turning the ball over and bringing it down the court. Our goalers were hit and miss, but still manage to steady and come away with an 18 goal win. Well done ladies!
B Grade: Win is a win I guess? Not the most attractive way to stand up towards any opponent, especially since the last time we came up against HP, it being a one sided game. We are very lucky to have started with a large lead and to hold off HP with taking the win. Way to win the stressful way ladies!
U17 Red: Well Well Well... With a new champ 3 weeks in a row, the greatest trivia ever. The girls where up and about. We spoke about our first quarters, And I asked for everything we did today, to be positive..
A Grade: A very interesting game to not only play but witness from a coaches point of view. Our decision making on some options weren’t great but let’s just learn and gain from this experience.
At 15-0 at quarter time I was very pleased. With Teileah Pullen again leading the way, and helping us out. We had great transitions, and we moved the ball from 1st to 2nd base very well.. Our attitude was first class, and Sharni finishing off the good work from the defenders, and mid courters... Love the way we played today, loved everybody’s efforts, let’s keep that intensity, that effort, J.B. Out!!!!!!!!!!! D Grade: Knew going into this match it wasn’t going to be easy. A close match all game, we kept pushing, but HP wasn’t going away. Well done to our defence end who worked tirelessly all day long but was let down due to an inconsistent attacking end. Remember ladies, you have to earn your wins they are not handed to us. Let’s regroup this week and go out strong for 4 quarters against Berwick. C Grade: Preparation is key to success! Getting into the right frame of mind before you hit the court is detrimental! You ladies did all of that and were unified as a team off and on court today. A very smart and patient game secured your win today and as a coach there was nothing more I could ask for. Coming from

There was ten great contests at Beaconsfield with each club recording five wins. A great day of highly skilled netball and a good atmosphere around the courts, with lots of people supporting all the raffles for Ciara Nelson. 13R: NW 20 lost to Beac 22 BOC Jasmine, Emma & Courtney Another close game between these two sides, with Beaconsfield just getting the edge when it counted. 13W: NW 10 lost to Beac 34 BOC: Tahlia, Jade & Shannon A tough day for our 13 White girls against taller and more mature opponents. They did well to score ten goals against tough defence. 15R: NW 23 def Beac 22 BOC: Amy B, Chloe & Ash H For the second week in a row, the 15 Red side have won by the narrowest of margins – a nail biting goal! This game ebbed and flowed, with both sides taking the lead at times. NW were lucky to hold their lead when the final whistle blew. 15W: NW 7 lost to Beac 22 BOC: Hayley & Mikayla Narre Warren struggled to score against a very impressive Beaconsfield side. The defenders worked tirelessly for four quarters but the whole team struggled to convert their opportunities into goals. 17R: NW 32 def Beac 26 BOC: Caity, Alex & Tayla A fast paced and entertaining match with Narre having to dig deep to gain the lead in the second half. The improved turnover conversion rate helped the margin grow and kept their undefeated record inn tact. 17W: NW 19 lost to Beac 51 BOC: Cailie & Amy B A tough day at the office for the 17 White girls with a well drilled Beaconsfield dominating from the outset. Back to the drawing board!

We travelled to Hampton Park for an early start to round 13. Wins all round for the juniors last week. The 13 Red’s kicked off the day at 8am. They work hard throughout the game and had some great flow down the court. A big 32-7 win for the girl. The 15 Red team had a slow start in the first quarter. After a rev up at quarter time they never looked back. Great win for the girls 29-17 What a great win for the 17 White team. Big margin. 40-11. Every player putting in a big effort as we watch everything fall into place. Another big win for the juniors with the Red team winning 43-15. Bit of a scrappy game in which they found it hard to get in to a rhythm. All girls playing well getting the job done. D grade played well in a close game. A little loss of focus cost them the win going down by only 3 goals. C grade. A hard fought game with every player putting in maximum effort. Unfortunately in another close game for the today they just didn’t get over the line to get the 4 points. Happy birthday to Caitlin and Nicole who both turned 18 on Saturday. B grade. Great effort by the girls but Hampton Park were just too strong and took the win. A grade played a great game showing some awesome netball skills. Always a fast paced game. Great win for the team 51-35. Thank you to the ongoing support from our sponsors Trios sports bar Yo-get-it Thermofilm Sportsco Y-not lawn mowing and garden services. We are looking forward to taking on Narre this week. GO EAGLES!

15 RED U15 ROCettes are on FIRE! These talented girls are so grounded and hard working! The world is your oyster.... You put in the hard yards now and with 4 games to go until finals you will put yourselves in a very envious position!
performance. It was delightful to welcome back Moesha into our team who immediately made a huge impact with her inspiring leadership, voice, work rate and defensive pressure. So much to love and work on. Our second half, particularly our third quarter was a dream! We cleaned up our footwork and unforced errors to produce a showcase of disciplined defence, strong ball movement forward and accurate goal shooting with pleasing confidence and trust.
Amazing improvement in the goal circles with rebounding positioning and mid courters are owning the circle edge with poise and strength!
Go 13 Red
Keep going girls I am one very proud coach week in and week out!
This week we knew we up against a very competitive team. The result did not go our way however I could not be more proud of the clean game we played. Finals will be a tough ask as we will be very reliant on others however the season is not over yet.
13 RED Congratulations 13 Under Red on a fantastic team

Congratulations to our U13 White, U15 White, U17 White and U17 Red teams on their convincing wins. To our U13 Red and U15 Red teams, although you didn’t come away with the wins, each week we continue to see the improvements out on court from all your hard work at training. To all our juniors keep up the intensity and hard work at training as we head into the business end of the season and with finals fast approaching. Congratulations to Tracy and our D Grade players on their very exciting win. In a thrilling game to watch the girls showed great determination, intensity and team work to come away with the win. This week saw our B Grade produce a very convincing win, with our C and A Grade teams only going down by the smallest of margins. As a club we are witnessing our player’s commitment to their weekly training, the team and each other and this is showing dividends on court with many of the team combinations being new this year. A Grade missed an opportunity to cement a position in the Top 2, going down by 3 goals. Unfortunately we weren’t able to capitalise on the hard work of our defenders, missing too many easy goals, & throwing away crucial passes. Our defenders worked tirelessly, with Dani & Tayla creating crucial turnovers, & Kate working hard at WD. Awards: Tayla, Emily, Ash & Kate. B Grade-We hosted Narre for what would be a high intensity game. Our starts have been a strength & this game would be no different with Beacy clawing out a 4goal lead in the 1st qtr. Our defence made the Narre shooting end difficult with the pressure applied. Patient, relaxed play in our goal end proved a positive, with the team pushing out the lead every qtr & some brilliant displays. Awards: The entire team for a solid, precise display. C grade came up against Narre, the 1st qtr showed us why they’re in that position with them getting the jump on us. We managed to stick with them the rest of the game, but just couldn’t peg back the difference. Awards: Jordan, Sam, Caity & Mia.
15 White started strong which was great to see after having 2 weeks off. We took into the game our solid training session & it was really pleasing to see so many options being presented to the ball carrier. Awards: Tahlia, Sophie F & Chloe. 13 Red-An awesome game played by the girls. We began the 1st qtr slow which resulted in a good lead against us, but the girls came back firing in the 2nd qtr. Each qtr they capitalized on their turnovers & defensively worked hard through the court, which resulted in a fantastic win. Awards: Tahlia, Kasey & Imogen. 13 White’s continued their undefeated run with a convincing win, all players ensuring they put in 100% effort for 4 qtrs. Defensive pressure was evident in all areas as the girls dropped off their opponent when they had possession & created turnovers. Well done to Paige for her effort to maintain quick feet & awareness when playing goal keeper-a real asset for the team. Awards: Bella & Paige.
D Grade-Back on home turf we came up against the top of the table Magpies. It was a great fought out game with both sides displaying some great netball, & the scores being close for the majority of the match. We had a brilliant 2nd qtr & broke away with a 6goal lead, our goalers movement was great & defence pulled in some intercepts to assist in our lead. Narre’s defensive pressure in the last qtr was really strong which forced us to lose 2 centre passes & a few missed opportunities caused us to go down by 3. Awards: Maddie K, Claire & Shelley. 17 Red-After a slow start the girls battled their way back into the game. With the scores level at half time it was evident that each possession was going to be crucial. Unfortunately too many turnovers cost us the game in the end. Awards: Danny 17 White-The game started even with both teams going goal for goal in the 1st qtr. Beacy then stepped up their defensive pressure & pushed out a lead going into the 1st qtr break. Beacy midcourt linked fantastic with the goalers, & the defenders worked hard to break up the goaling end, making the most of any turnover. Awards: Brodie, Zara & Mikaela. 15 Red-After a week off the girls were fired up ready to go in a tough game. Goal for goal in the 1st half saw us in a great position only 2 goals down. The girls put in a fantastic effort & kept the ball moving up to the goalers end. Great movement through midcourt with tight defence, the girls never gave up going down by only 1 goal. Awards: Alix P, Alix R, Fran & Jemima.
