Say Hello to Scholze R
egina welcomes new teacher Tim Scholze this year. Mr. Scholze hails from La Crosse, Wisconsin. Prior to coming to Regina, he taught at a school in Eau Claire, Wisconsin for fourteen years, a STEM school in North Carolina for a semester, and substitute taught in La Crosse. When asked why he went into teaching, he replied, “I fell into teaching because I didn’t know what I would do with a major in geography. Now,
I can’t think of doing anything else.” Scholze teaches ninth grade religion, College and Careers, and seventh and eighth grade Via. In his free time, he enjoys playing games of all kinds, specifically board games and video games. This year he will be dedicating his valuable time towards coaching the exceptionally successful Regina Robotics Team, which showcases student’s creativity and technological skill at various competitions throughout the year. His favorite thing about Regina so far is the kids he gets to work with, both in and out of class.
Brett Finger:Mathematics Fanatic M
r. Finger teaches Algebra 1, Algebra A, and Precalculus and is the cousin of recent graduate Mitchell Finger and Junior, Mackenzie Finger. Mr. Finger began his teaching career last year at South East Junior High School as a paraeducator. He graduated from the University of Iowa and continues to be an avid Hawkeyes fan. In his free-time, he watches NFL football and roots for the Green Bay Packers. Finger is also a big fan
of tennis; Roger Federer is his favorite player. Finger has enjoyed his time thus far at Regina and likes the school’s unique atmosphere that has both “a great emphasis on learning and a very tightknit feel.” He has always been good at math, noting that he would help other students with their math homework even in high school. Becoming a math teacher only seemed natural to him.
Catholicism with Conlon
M
eet Mrs.Conlon. Many of you may know her as the Director of Youth Ministry at St. Patrick’s Parish in Iowa City, or you may know her as Mac and Michael’s mother. She is now Regina’s K-12 Campus Minister where she organizes both elementary and high school masses, prayer services, retreats, and Christmas Basket. On top of all that work she is also taking over the Senior Religion classes, also known as History and Justice. “I took this job because of the great com-
munity here and because I am a believer in Regina’s people and its mission.” She says she enjoys working with all the students, especially the RTL’s on the retreats, and she is excited for the Christmas Basket project.
As we all know, Mrs. Conlon is taking on the daunting task of replacing Mrs. McCue. “She did so much work for this school. She was super helpful when I first took the job and gave me so much advice on everything from Christmas Basket to retreats!” Good luck Mrs. Conlon, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
