OCTOBER 16, 2014 Many new faces began to walk the halls of Regina this school year. Check out these short student bios to get to know these new additions to the Regina family. by Maria Blondin Editor-in-Chief
Ana Laura Mingatos De Toledo
A
na Laura Mingatos De Toledo is a 16 year old exchange student from Brazil. She is currently registered as a junior and is staying with the Adam family. Ana is currently involved in cross country and is a member of the yearbook staff. Her favorite class is PE because she “really loves sports” and she really enjoys the practices with the cross country team in the morning. One major difference Ana has noticed between Iowa and her home in Brazil is “the traffic. It’s so much better here than in the city I live in, and the food here is very different. The sweets here are delicious but the ‘real food’ here is better.”
Noelle Martin
N
oelle Martin is a 17 year old senior who previously attended Solon High School. She is currently involved in a variety of activities such as choir, band, the fall play, and the dance team. She plans on participating in soccer later this school year. If you don’t run into Noelle while she is participating in one of these various activities, you might see her with a camera around her neck since she is a member of the yearbook staff. No surprise here, Noelle is liking her first few months at Regina just fine. “I really like Regina because everyone talks to everyone, you can have a conversation with anyone, and it seems like the staff really cares too.” said Martin. If you were interested in striking up a conversation with Noelle try talking about her favorite class, Business Law, or her favorite TV show, Psych.
KatieDunn K
atie Dunn is a 15 year old freshman who previously attended Northwest Junior High. She is currently a member of the volleyball team and Key Club and she plans on playing basketball later this year. Her favorite thing about Regina is the “Friendliness of people and how it [Regina] feels like a family.” If you wanted to get to know Katie a little more, try asking her about her favorite book, The Selection or her favorite TV show Gossip Girl. You could also bond over your love of art class or go to Pancheros together.
Kemberly Flores
K
emberly Flores is a 15 year old freshman who previously attended Northwest Middle School. One of her favorite things about Regina are the smaller classes since she “hardly ever gets lost and everyone is really nice.” If you want to break the ice with Kemberly, try talking about fashion- her favorite book is Style by Lauren Conrad. You could also jam out to Justin Bieber together since Kemberly is a “HUGE Bieber fan!!!”
