“Your digital future is safe in our hands”

laters Digital Installations, incorporating Slaters Aerials, was formed over 57 years ago and was dedicated solely to television aerial systems. Today, the third generation family business has grown to incorporate all manner of home entertainment, internet and security installations.

“Over the last 20 years we have installed cable networks, internet systems, in-home CCTV and in-home alarm systems on a commercial scale, but now with ever improving technology and prices, all of these services are offered on a domestic level,” said Simon Slater. “And with the TV industry and internet-based technologies moving ever closer, you can be assured we are at the forefront of all new technologies.”

Thanks to the boom in home-working, Slaters are very busy installing internet and ethernet connections – both hardwired and Wi-Fi – direct to offices, generally a spare bedroom or attic. Once the products have been installed the customer can operate efficiently and in peace in a home office environment but guaranteeing the connectivity of the main office.

For those struggling with internet speed or connection, Starlink has become a

popular option and can be installed by Simon and his team. Derived from Elon Musk’s Space X programme, it is the world's first and largest satellite constellation using a low Earth orbit to deliver broadband internet capable of supporting streaming, online gaming, video calls and more. In layman’s terms, this means you can get a quality internet connection in those sometimes hard-toreach places. Alternatively, internet antennas and rural internet provide further options.

Another very popular installation is inhome CCTV and in-home alarm systems; with ease of use and networked to all compatible devices, properties can be viewed whilst at home or when away from the property. All installations are carried out by a member of the Slater family and Thomas, the third generation of Slaters and proprietor of Slaters Digital Installations, is at the forefront of all new technologies and can assure you of a speedy installation and full demonstration of all products.

Alongside Simon and Thomas is Simon’s brother Martin, who has been with the company for over 30 years, and his wife Marie, who runs the office.

Slaters are fully aware that their

reputation is only as good as their last installation. Customers’ opinions are always their priority and they work with them to guarantee their exact requirements. All work is guaranteed for two years (parts and labour) and two guys are always on site to comply with health and safety requirements.

So, whether you require a single Freeview aerial or satellite installation, full home revamp, cinema screen or flat screen installation, in-home CCTV, in-home alarm or a home office solution, you can be assured “Your digital future is safe in our hands”

Slaters would also like to take this opportunity to thank all existing customers for their continued support over the years and to welcome new customers in the future.

‘Your local carpet shop’

LEE

.M. Hill Carpets Ltd recently celebrated its tenth anniversary and in that time has become an established part of the Hillsborough community.

Often dubbed ‘Your local carpet shop’, it remains a completely independent family business; owner Lee Hill works alongside his son, Brandon, and his wife and mum help out too. A friendly, approachable manner is at the heart of everything they do backed by expertise in all forms of flooring.

Lee worked as a fitter for over 20 years before setting up L.M. Hill Carpets Ltd and offers a range of carpets, rugs, vinyls and laminates.

“With a wide range of flooring options to choose from, you’ll find the perfect style, comfort level and practicality that’s just right for the way you live,” said Lee. “We have a huge choice as well as underlay and accessories at prices to suit all budgets.”

Over the years Lee has seen a huge surge in the popularity of Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT), so much so it now accounts for 60-70 per cent of their business. L.M. Hill has one of the biggest selections in the area, both stick and click versions,

stocking ranges from the likes of Karndean, Moduleo, Invictus and Project Floors.

“LVT offers elegance and superior design quality as well as being highly durable and resistant,” added Lee. “The best thing is it can go anywhere in the home and completely transform a room.”

On the carpet front L.M. Hill have ranges from Cormar and Abingdon, examples of which can be found in their showroom on Middlewood Road.

“From practical loop pile, elegant Saxony, hardwearing twist pile, and allpurpose Berber, you are sure to find a carpet type that is perfect for your needs,” said Lee.

Elsewhere in the showroom you’ll find traditional cushion vinyl which is available in a variety of woods, stones and abstract colours with varying size options.

“Our sheet lino comes with a heavily cushioned backing making for a warm and comfortable sensation under foot,” added Lee.

L.M. Hill Carpets Ltd work with both domestic and commercial customers and offer free, no obligation quotes.

On the commercial front they have contracts with Forgemasters and Tramways Medical Centre as well the Hallamshire and Darwin care homes. They also work with Dore-based Kitchen Connections as their dedicated floor suppliers and fitters.

L.M. Hill’s quality of work and customer service hasn’t gone unnoticed and they have scores of five-star reviews.

“I absolutely love my wood effect flooring and carpets,” said one happy customer. “There is so much choice to choose from which is mind-blowing, however, the service was great and went into detail of the different options available and we was able to take as many samples as we wanted. The fitting was fantastic too with minimal disruption and was completed in no time at all. Would highly recommend and use again.”

Forge a Link with Wentworth Woodhouse

Link your loved ones to Wentworth Woodhouse in a way which will last the tests of time…

That’s the message behind the Forge A Link Campaign, the latest fundraising initiative from the charitable trust regenerating the Rotherham stately home.

The campaign gives supporters the chance to have their initials hand-stamped onto a huge chain being hand-created especially for the mansion’s famed East Front.

Around 154 metres-long, the steel chain replicates one which featured on the 606 feet-long facade for almost two centuries and only a small section can still be seen, attached to the mansion’s steps.

Each of the 1,800 links will be stamped with up to three initials in recognition of people who make donation of £50 or more and it’s hoped the Forge A Link campaign could bring in £40,000 before it closes in November.

The chain will continue the restoration of original ironwork features which grace the grand Palladian-style frontage and supporters will be able to follow a map to find their initials when they visit.

For more go to https://wentworthwoodhouse.org.uk/forgea-link-campaign/

First Bus x Self Esteem

Ever wondered what might happen if Self Esteem got behind the wheel of a double-decker bus? Well, wonder no longer…

In recognition of Self Esteem putting her city back on the musical map, First Bus Sheffield have recently transformed one of their iconic buses with all the stylings of her hit debut album ‘Prioritise Pleasure’. And what’s more they have given her the keys to drive it too.

The Self Esteem bus is part of a new initiative for 2023 which sees First Bus Sheffield giving their bus fleet a fresh makeover in honour of the city’s most famous musical stars. Dubbed ‘Sheffield’s Walk of Fame’, this unique initiative has already unveiled a special bus dedicated to Reverend and the Makers, with plans for similar buses commemorating Richard Hawley and the legendary Leadmill music and arts venue already in motion.

Speaking about the scheme, Ian Smith, commercial director at First Sheffield says: “As a company we are proud of our connection to the great city of Sheffield. We are teaming up with famous and not-so-famous artists who have put Sheffield firmly on the map and who have all, and still do, use the public transport network across the city when they are home.”

Quizzers raise £600 plus for St Luke’s Hospice

Regulars at the Hallamshire House pub in Crookes had all the right answers as they raised more than £600 for St Luke’s Hospice.

The pub, which is part of the Thornbridge Brewery chain, hosts regular Monday evening quiz sessions, with landlord Doug Simpson asking the questions on everything from current affairs to music.

And the two most recent brain testing sessions brought in a total of £610 for St Luke’s patient care.

“St Luke’s has a long relationship with Thornbridge and its pubs in Sheffield,” said St Luke’s Community Fundraiser Ellie Matthews.

“It’s great that Doug and the Hallamshire House team have such a great success with their quiz nights and the money they raise really does make a massive difference to the lives of our patients.”

Rose House reopens

After being closed for several months, the Rose House pub on South Road, Walkley has reopened its doors and will be showing live sport on both Sky and BT.

The refurbishment was undertaken by the LAM Pubco’s team of skilled tradesmen.

Competition winner

Congratulations to Laura Sheehan of Sprotbrough, Doncaster, who was the winner of our Taylor’s on the Green competition. Laura will be enjoying a two-course meal, with either two pints of Timothy Taylor’s ales, two glasses of house wine or two soft drinks per person.

Protecting the future

or many of us, our home is our sanctuary and represents years of hard work, and a significant investment to be passed to future generations.

The pandemic taught us that the future can be uncertain. No one can predict what may happen and whether a reliance on long term care may be on the horizon.

Couples who own a home together may not be aware that they can protect it with a Property Protection Trust Will.

Anne Rogers, director of wills and probate at Best Solicitors, explains: “It can be a costly shock for families if the time comes when long term care is the only option.

“Care fees are substantial and may mean that after the death of one spouse, using the family home to fund

care fees is the only option. We help families plan ahead to avoid this.

Couples can protect half the equity in their home should long term care be needed, and protect their hard-earned asset for their children. With Property Protection Trust Wills in place, if long term care is needed, the local authority can only use the share of the property owned by the surviving spouse when calculating the personal contribution towards care fees.

Anne continued: “Life can be unpredictable. We can help couples take control of the future and protect their loved ones.”

Top of the class

t’s the time of year when thousands of school children across the city are preparing to sit their GCSE and A-Level exams. No doubt they will be filled with apprehension but with hope for what the future holds too.

Despite its name, thankfully there are no such anxieties at The Assembly, the new bar and bistro attached to The Schoolrooms in Low Bradfield – and not an exam paper in sight.

The former home to Low Bradfield School, which closed in 1985, has undergone something of a makeover of late that has seen the two-storey dwelling completely overhauled.

The Assembly is split over multiple levels with two distinct dining areas; The Library and Caretaker’s as well as a spacious bar, mezzanine and tap room and has more distinct design elements to create an exciting atmosphere for the evening crowd.

The Assembly has quickly become the jewel in the venue’s crown and turns The Schoolrooms into an all-day venue. The Cafe and Kitchen opens daily until 5pm while the Bistro opens Wednesday to Saturday from 4-11.30pm. Together the team have devised an ever-changing à la carte menu that puts a modern twist on traditional British dining and uses

seasonal ingredients, many of which are sourced from local suppliers.

My starter of black pudding, poached egg, dressed mixed leaves, red onion marmalade, and hollandaise (£7) was the perfect introduction to our evening and was well-cooked all round; the black pudding crisp, soft egg and a delicious sauce. My wife’s oak smoked salmon, roasted beetroot, mixed leaves, dill, capers, lemon, seeded sliced bread and crème fraiche (£9) provided a lighter alternative.

Main courses offered more robust options. Sirloin steak, accompanied by crispy onions, crispy kale, on the vine tomatoes and fat chips (£22), was cooked medium-rare as requested and incredibly tender. My wife enthused over her chicken supreme, fondant potatoes, tenderstem broccoli, smoked bacon lardons (£19), which was served with an excellent wholegrain mustard sauce.

Desserts were equally refined, showing skill and an appreciation of classic flavours. My cherry bakewell pudding, served with crushed amaretti biscuit and vanilla ice cream (£7), had an air of familiarity with sour cherry and sweet almond flavours, whilst my wife’s pannacotta (£6) was given a sharp and spicy hit with the addition of a mixed berry compote and ginger biscuit crumb.

It was a delicious way to end the meal.

As well as the regular a la carte menu, The Assembly run a supper club on Wednesdays and Thursdays offering two courses for £19 and three for £24, which seems incredible value for money.

“We can pretty much cater for every eventuality and occasion,” said manager Laura Helliwell. “Our aim is to turn The Schoolrooms and Assembly into a destination venue. We want people to come to Bradfield specifically to visit us but of course you can’t forget the glorious north Sheffield countryside we have on our doorstep. Whatever time of day you’re visiting, make sure you stop by and say hello.”

When the exam results arrive in summer, it would be a great place to celebrate.

Cubana

Cubana

celebrates 23 years in business...

Cubana is an independentlyowned tapas restaurant and Cuban bar that started from humble beginnings, situated on Trippet Lane, in November 2000 offering a burst of joyous Havana sunshine from a base on a sleepy city centre back street.

In the summer of 2014, co-owners Adrian Bagnoli and Brad Charlesworth decided the time was right for an exciting new chapter in Cubana’s story - a move to an amazing new home just a couple of hundred yards away in the beautiful surroundings of Leopold Square.

Cubana recently welcomed El Negrito Xulas for their ‘Salsa in the Square’ event. The seven native Cubans are renowned for their weekly residency at top Barcelona nightclub BarSamba but were persuaded to entertain the crowds of Sheffield.

Adrian Bagnoli, co-owner of Cubana, said: “Being able to fly El Negrito Xulas over from Spain gave Sheffield audiences one of the very best Cuban live bands they are ever likely to witness.”

Cubana Tapas Bar is situated at Unit 4 Leopold Square, Sheffield S1 2JG. Bookings can be made on 0114 276 0475. More info from www.cubanatapasbar.co.uk

The outlet has grown from humble beginnings to what it is today – a multi-award winning Italian restaurant that is a true flagship for the region. Proprietor Maurizio Mori puts the success of Nonnas Sheffield down to a mixture of tradition, innovation and consistent quality of service.

He said: “We have always strived to do something different and serve traditional Tuscan flavours with a Nonnas twist. It’s something our customers truly appreciate and our chefs are always looking for new and innovative ideas. We are lucky to have a truly fantastic team of staff and a fantastic manager in the shape of Stefano Buralli.”

Pride of Walkley

f you are looking for a traditional pub offering a wide range of real ales, lagers and ciders alongside great food look no further than The Walkley Cottage. You can be assured of a warm welcome from landlord Matthew and his team.

Originally from Queensland in Australia, Matthew took over the Walkley Cottage in December 2020. After a difficult time during Covid, Matthew and his team have become central to the local community.

The Walkley Cottage has a large beer garden at the rear with a children’s play area and BBQ space. This is being used to it’s full potential with many special events held, particularly on bank holiday weekends, with children’s entertainment and live bands. The pub prides itself on being a community pub and welcoming families as well as groups of friends. It holds a regular charity quiz night on a Thursday and has recently donated money to the S6 Foodbank and Hillsborough Hornets Disability Football Club.

The extensive menu uses locally sourced ingredients where possible with an emphasis on supporting other local businesses. Alongside the main menu the pub also offers Sunday lunches and ‘Fishy Friday’s’ where there are additional fish specials.

We visited on a Friday evening and

arrived to find the place with a real buzz and plenty of people enjoying the evening. We choose a pint of Cruzcampo lager and a diet Coke to drink and were then shown to our table.

After looking at the varied menu, which contains a range of gluten free and vegetarian options as well as many other choices, we opted to share nachos with added pulled pork (£6.25 + £1.95) as a starter. It was a very pleasant surprise that the nachos were homemade and served with a generous helping of sour cream, guacamole, salsa and pulled pork then topped with melted mozzarella cheese. The dish was piping hot and the pulled pork melted in your mouth.

For main course we choose sirloin steak from the main menu (£17.95) served with peppercorn sauce (£1 supplement). The 10oz sirloin, sourced from a local butcher in Penistone, was cooked perfectly medium rare as requested. It was accompanied by homemade onion rings, which were lovely and crispy, a large well-flavoured roasted mushroom and thick homemade chips.

For our second main course we choose the Seafood Platter from the ‘Fishy Friday’ menu (£15.95). It contained a selection of different fish – breaded plaice goujons, king prawns in a crispy crushed filo coating, breaded scampi and

lightly dusted calamari – all of which were cooked just as they should be and were served alongside crispy twicecooked chips and a pot of chunky tartare sauce. Both meals were generously sized and well cooked.

For dessert we decided to share a Mango and White Chocolate cheesecake (£5.50), which is also gluten free and homemade by Matthew’s wife. The cheesecake had a well-proportioned crumbly biscuit base and was topped with a light creamy white chocolate cheesecake filling and topped off with mango jelly. It was a perfect way to round off a lovely meal.

Whether you are looking for a midweek meal out, a special Sunday lunch with family or a day of bank holiday fun The Walkley Cottage is the place for you.

Destination Wortley

y recent visit to the Wortley Arms coincided with the first sustained good weather of the year – sunshine, blue skies and the perfect time to sit out in a beer garden with a drink and a bit to eat.

The Wortley Arms, which straddles the borders of Sheffield and Barnsley, has plentiful outdoor spaces to soak up the sun but with a long-held reputation for being a ‘foodie’ pub, you’d be foolish not to step through its revolving doors and enjoy some fine food and ales in relaxed, comfortable surroundings. It’s cool dining areas can provide welcome respite from the heat too.

I’d brought the family along and owner Jamie Ellis showed us to a window table in the snug area of the pub. Décor has a contemporary slant but the building still retains much of its heritage with exposed stone walls, beamed ceilings and wooden panelling. Black and white photos give a further nod to the area’s history.

With a reputation such as the Wortley’s the menu offers of lots of pub classics – fish ‘n’ chips, burger, steak –but with dishes that elevate things just that little further – chicken thigh ballotine, dressed asparagus, Moroccan

spiced lamb. There are a few Asian influences too in the form of king prawn cakes, crispy chicken katsu curry and tandoori onion bhaji burger.

There’s no kids menu as such but the chefs can serve smaller portions of many of the dishes – my children both chose the Wortley Arms burger, which came with smoked bacon, Monterey Jack cheese, onion rings and twice-cooked chips. “Ten out of ten,” was my son’s verdict.

My wife and I both leaned towards the more ‘gastro’ part of the menu and started with pork and apple scotch egg (£8.50) and tempura cauliflower (£8) dishes. The scotch egg, served with a celeriac remoulade and Dijon mayonnaise, was meaty with a hint of sweetness and had a just runny yolk. The three sizeable florets of cauliflower were deliciously crisp on the outside and cooked through in the middle and given a kick of heat from the accompanying gochujang sauce.

Main courses continued the high standards and my butter baked cod, served with braised hispi cabbage, smoked bacon, mussels and saffron cream (£19) was a real stand-out dish. The cod, cooked with the skin on, was just perfect and paired so well with an incredibly more-ish sauce that was sweet,

salty and creamy all at once.

Across the table my wife had chosen a meat and potato pie (£16) from the specials menu, which was presented in its own dish and served with twice-cooked chips, mushy peas and gravy. This was proper comfort food.

It’s worth noting that portions are on the generous size and although my wife and I couldn’t find room for dessert, my children (unsurprisingly) did and shared a double chocolate brownie with whipped white chocolate, salted caramel jelly and caramelised white chocolate (£7). It made for a fitting end to what was an excellent meal.

The Wortley Arms is a real destination venue – I can highly recommend a visit, whatever the weather.

Fairytale ending

DAN WADDINGTON’S DREAMS OF BECOMING A PUBLISHED AUTHOR HAVE REACHED A COLOURFUL CONCLUSION.

As any parent will tell you, the bedtime story is a ritual and one that cannot be broken, whatever the circumstances. All children will have their favourite books but what happens when you’ve gone through all the Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler ones and they want something different to Superworm, The Gruffalo and The Smartest Giant in Town?

Father of two, Dan Waddington, was faced with a similar dilemma when his girls asked for him to come up with something completely new. Eager to please, he created his own characters - the bubble-breathing Dragonesseswhich in turn has led to him writing his own illustrated children’s book.

“The inspiration came in lockdown, I was furloughed so was able to spend more time with my daughters,” Dan said. “Both of the girls loved they had a dragon each that breathed bubbles and that made them fun. I decided to try and write the story down and it changed into the rhyming verses.”

Dan, who lives in Stannington, is currently the advertising manager at Leeds Bradford Airport and has previously spent time working at The Derbyshire Times and with a PR media company so was comfortable writing the words but not confident when it comes to the illustrations. But he had someone in mind.

“The Dragonesses is about princess dragons who do not breathe fire, they breath bubbles instead,” Dan added. “A good friend of mine was able to do the illustrations. He is professionally known as Arty Bianco and he has done Sheffield United programme illustrations along with Sheffield prints and individual commissions - he can now add dragon

princesses to that list.”

When it came to getting the book published, Dan scoured the internet and looked at publishers accepting submissions for children‘s picture books. Having gained good feedback, he had two offers to publish from different companies, both on a contributory basis. He decided to go with Olympia, an independent publishing house. Olympia work under the hybrid model of publishing, where all initial work submitted is considered for a ‘traditional publishing contract’ where no costs are incurred by the author. If they are unable to offer a traditional contract, but feel the work has potential an alternative offer may be made. This offer is known as a ‘Hybrid contract’ and is based on a contribution, to be paid by the author, to cover the initial production and printing cost of the book. Dan’s offer fell under this category and he was able to secure funding to ensure the book could be published.

The Dragonesses is available now, priced £9.99, and Dan is not resting on his laurels. He’s already almost written a

Christmas-themed book and is planning an Easter one too.

“Although aimed at children I think adults will enjoy reading it to the younger ones,” said Dan. “It is a fun story with great illustrations and lots to look out for.

“It sounds a strange thing to say that I am an author and I’m sure my English teachers might not have picked me out to be the one!”

You can buy The Dragonesses through Olympia Publishers: https://olympiapublishers.com/bo ok/the-dragonesses or through Amazon.

All the fun of the fair

At the heart of Walkley, one of Sheffield’s most popular suburbs, is a strong sense of community and nowhere is this more evident than at the Walkley Festival, which this year takes place between 24 June and 9 July.

The festival kicks-off on Saturday 24 June with a packed line-up of events including an Open Library Day at Walkley Carnegie, a craft fair at St Mary’s Church, music and entertainment on Walkley Green, a Makers Fair at Walkley Community Centre and live music at The Raven.

On Sunday 25 June you can walk ‘Among the Hedges’ at Morley Street Allotments, visit Holly Hagg Community Farm for their open day, take part in a foraging walk or meet with Walkley historians to learn about Rawson Spring.

Throughout the week you can dip your toe into everything from a stained glass workshop and community choir taster session to well dressing and games nights.

On Saturday 1 July Walkley

Primary School will be having their annual summer fair, Millennium Green will be host to a tea party and there’ll be Yoga in the Park courtesy of Sheffield Yoga Centre. You can finish the evening at The Florist for their Party Night.

Sunday 2 July sees the Lower

Walkley Community Group Open Day, Mindful Art Workshops and a Wilder Neighbourhoods Green Spaces Trail. If you’ve got something to sell, there’ll be a huge Walkley Yard Sale, dog owners can pop along to the LWCA pop-up café and The Florist will be hosting a live music garden party.

Throughout the second week of the festival there will be sessions for Small Voices Big Noises, Dancing Around Walkley at various outdoor spots, writing and further stained glass workshops, a Beer & Pizza Night at Gerry’s Bakery

and Side Quest at Walkley Community Centre. The latter is an adventure in live interactive performance. Come merry folk from yonder to craft a tall tale with aide from the Story Master and a sprinkle of magic. Watch your protagonist spring to life as they embark on an epic quest, as performed by Sheffield comedy improvisers. Will they fight a dragon? Save a village of pixies? Anything can happen. Your characters, your locations, and with every fork in the road you decide where to go next. It’s a fantasy fun-filled night for all.

The highlight of the festival comes on Saturday 8 July with the Walkley Festival Fun Day, which is held in Ruskin Park. Activities include a climbing wall, bouncy castle, fete games, fire engine, face painting, craft zone and workshops, healing zone, local food and beer, WOWI cakes and FORP refreshments, plus lots more.

As well as the Walkley Cemetery festival tours, Sunday 9 July sees the Japanese Star Festival ‘Tanabata Matsuri’. Held at Walkley Community Centre, admission is £1 and you can see beautiful displays of decorated Tanabata bamboo poles, kimono, obi and fans, traditional Japanese crafts, and Okinawan tea ceremony and much more.

The Walkley Festival Art Show, at St Mary’s Community Hall, runs throughout the fortnight.

Universal tradition

ternity rings are given to celebrate a variety of occasions; wedding anniversaries, birth of a child or a ‘special’ birthday. An eternity ring is typically a band of gems, usually diamonds, that is often worn alongside your engagement and wedding rings. The sentiment is important, renewing the expression of love that has already been made with engagement and marriage and reinforcing the eternal nature of that love.

A complete band of gems makes the perfect sign of love, reflecting the ancient belief in the circle as a symbol of eternity. Eternity rings themselves have been known since at least the 18th century, when they would often feature paste (glass) stones or a mixture of different gems. In the early decades of the 20th century diamonds were becoming more available and consequently more commonly used. Synthetic spinel was also a popular choicve, making use of the latest advances in the synthesis of gemstones to provide a more affordable option that imitated the appearance of diamond.

In the 1960s DeBeers began to promote the idea of a diamond eternity ring. The original slogan for this campaign was “She married you for richer or poorer. Let her know how it’s going”. This, and subsequent campaigns with similarly light-hearted slogans, ensured the giving of an eternity ring soon became a tradition almost as universal as engagement and wedding rings.

While eternity rings were traditionally a full band of gems it is now more common for a half-set band to be chosen. The principal reason for this is that it is a more practical style for regular wear since it is plain around the lower half of the band, making the ring easier to adjust in size and more comfortable to wear. The wide range of settings and styles available now also encourages great variation in what is chosen as an eternity ring. For many people, it is important to find a design that complements their existing engagement and wedding rings, as the eternity ring is traditionally worn alongside them on the same finger.

Diamond-set bands traditionally regarded as eternity rings are increasingly popular as wedding rings too. An eternity ring is still often added later, perhaps duplicating the wedding ring to form a complete set on the finger, or worn separately on the right hand, allowing for an expanded choice of style and size.

Whatever the occasion, an eternity ring is a beautiful way to reaffirm your love and our experienced team of jewellers and gemmologists can guide you through the process and the range of options available.

DACIA HAS QUICKLY EARNED A REPUTATION FOR DELIVERING ALL THE BENEFITS OF AN SUV AT CITY CAR PRICE, WRITES RICHARD ABBEY.

Value for money 4x4

The Dacia Duster, priced from just £14,845 on the road, offers fantastic value-for-money. The latest model features refreshed design elements, up-to-date features, and technology all while continuing to offer the same robustness and comfort it is famed for.

Launched in the UK in 2013, the Duster quickly earned a reputation for delivering all the benefits of an SUV at city car price. The Duster has shaken-up the SUV segment, having broken the rules to become a unique offering for consumers. With more than two million vehicles sold, the Duster has been the number one car for retail sales in its class in Europe’s SUV market since 2019.

Following on from earlier generations, the New Duster is aimed both at customers who are looking for a comfortable, attractive SUV and those who want a robust, versatile 4x4.

All engines are Euro 6D with one of the most popular being the diesel dCi 115, which is available in either twowheel or four-wheel drive. The range-topping 4x4 Extreme SE Blue dCi edition is priced at £21,995 and features 17inch black alloy wheels, grey quartz door mirrors with orange detailing, chrome front grille with orange detailing and grey quartz roof bars with orange lettering.

Economy levels out at 53.8 mpg on the combined cycle.

The heat is on

Renault has enhanced the all new Megane E-Tech 100% electric with the introduction of the new top-of-the-range Iconic trim.

The new model features the extensive specification of the limited version Launch Edition, but with the added benefits of an innovative new heat pump and an extended choice of colour palette.

A unique benefit of the patented heat pump developed by thermal management Renault engineers, is that the system recovers heat generated by the battery and the electric motor twice as efficiently to ensure optimal temperature for the cabin, whilst simultaneously minimising the impact on range. In use, when the outside temperature drops below 10°C, the range of the all new Megane E-Tech can increase by up to nine per cent on motorways, while maintaining a comfortable temperature inside.

With an electric driving range of up to 280 miles (WLTP), the all new Megane E-Tech 100% electric also features a class-leading digital experience with a 12.3-inch dashboard display, 9-inch multimedia display, and Android Automotive OS with integrated Google services from the Techno trim.

New paradigm

In the marque’s 60th anniversary year, Lamborghini has unveiled the Revuelto, the first super sports V12 hybrid plug-in HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle).

Revuelto defines a new paradigm in terms of performance, sportiness and driving pleasure from its unprecedented new architecture; innovative design; maximum-efficiency aerodynamics; and a new carbon frame concept. An output of 1015 CV is delivered from the combined power of an entirely new combustion engine together with three electric motors, alongside a double-clutch gearbox that makes its debut on a 12-cylinder Lamborghini for the first time.

“The new Revuelto is a milestone in the history of Lamborghini, and an important pillar in our Direzione Cor Tauri electrification strategy,” said Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini Chairman and CEO. “It is a unique and innovative car but at the same time faithful to our DNA: the V12 is an iconic symbol of our super sports heritage and history. Revuelto was born to break the mould, combining a new 12-cylinder engine with hybrid technology, creating the perfect balance between delivering the emotion that our clients want with the necessity to reduce emissions.”
