ADIRONDACK ANNOUNCEMENTS DIVISION FOURTEEN'S MARCH NEWSLETTER

Written By: Chloe Baker, Lieutenant Governor

A NOTE FROM ME ~ YOUR LTG

Hello, Division 14!

This is it! We have officially made it to my final publication of the Adirondack Announcements. You, Division 14, have done such remarkable work this past service year. To date, we have served over 1,000 hours and raised over $2,200. That is 7x more than what we raised last year! And to think we did all of this service during a global pandemic... At the end of this month, my successor will be taking over as our next Lieutenant Governor. I have no doubt that Eliza will do a great job leading this amazing division. This spring, Eliza and I will get together with the current and future District Board to host our Virtual Leadership Training Conference in May! I highly encourage each club to have a few members attend if they can! For more information regarding LTC, check out page 4! Before we can celebrate in May, we have to elect our next District Officers and apply for District Awards! The Virtual House of Delegates is March 20th, and the deadline to register is March 18th! All District Awards must be submitted online by Friday, March 19th! Further details can be found on page 3. If there are any questions, please reach out! As I wrap up my final newsletter, I cannot explain how proud I am of our small, yet mighty division. You all have continued to show that service truly can change our lives. I wish you all the best in your futures, and remember, Caring It's Our Way of Life :) Yours in Service, Chloe Baker Division 14 Lieutenant Governor

TICONDEROGA'S VIRTUAL MARCH FOR BABIES Due to limitations from COVID-19, our club has struggled to come up with service ideas. During a recent club meeting, one member proposed the idea of doing a virtual March For Babies, benefiting March of Dimes, one of Key Club International's Preferred Charities. March of Dimes provides resources for mothers and their newborns and has taken major steps during this pandemic. Through the power of Facebook, we have shared our virtual fundraising page with local community members. To date, we have raised over $675 from 26 donations. Although we certainly miss fundraising in person, this virtual drive has shown the power of a small town. Many families have had similar stories to those mentioned through March of Dimes, and so this "march" is a great way to give back from the comfort of their own home. We are continuing this fundraiser through the end of the school year, and hope to continue sharing the good that March of Dimes does for our world. - Adrian Paige Secretary-Treasurer Ticonderoga Key Club

GOVERNOR'S PROJECT

This year, Governor Mariam has chosen Canines for Disabled Kids as her Governor's Project. They promote service dogs for children with disabilities. As of 2017, they have helped more than 3,500 kids in 11 states. Since 1998, CDK has sponsored over 130 service dogs. All of the services provided by CDK are FREE of charge! These include educational presentations, booth events, and Americans with Disability (ADA) consulting. For more information about Canines for Disabled Kids, click here.

DISTRICT PROJECT This year, our District Project is Project Hope! For more than 60 years, Project HOPE has transformed the health and wellbeing of people and communities around the world. We work on the front lines of the world’s health challenges, partnering hand-inhand with communities, health care workers and public health systems to ensure sustainable change. For more information about Project Hope, click here. Division 14 March Newsletter ~ Page 9

DISTRICT ENDORSED PROJECT The Kiwanis Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation was created in the 2000-2001 service year. Lyme Disease is caused by the bacteria found in deer ticks. The faster the treatment, the lower possibilities of longer symptoms. Many insurance companies do not pay for treatment, so the KPLDF works hard to help lower the cost. To support the Kiwanis Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation, your club can host a take a bite out of a "lyme" fundraiser, or host a "key lyme" pie in the face contest.
