NEW YORK DISTRICT OF KEY CLUB INTERNATIONAL

ADIRONDACK ANNOUNCEMENTS DIVISION FOURTEEN'S NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER

Written By: Chloe Baker, Lieutenant Governor

A NOTE FROM ME ~ YOUR LTG Hello Division 14! This year has been unprecedented to say the least. Yes, I know, the phrase 'unprecedented times' is something none of us want to hear at this time. The change in learning has shaken us all, myself included. I am very lucky to go to school two days a week, where as some of you may not be able to go at all. On top of school, you may have sports and clubs just like Key Club. The struggle of virtual service will take weeks, if not months, to master. Please continue to share service opportunities with your members, and feel free to ask for help too.

Beside serving our communities, Key Club creates friendships to last you your entire life. The District Fall Conference is coming up very soon! During November 21 & 22, Key Clubbers from across the New York District will come together and bond over service, workshops, gaming and more. In our neck of the woods we had our Fall Divisional on October 29th! A recap of the event is on Page 5. Please continue to serve, and report your service! Your MRFs are due on the 10th, and the Fundraising Report Form is required any time you raise funds not benefiting your club. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving! Caring - It's Our Way of Life! Yours in Service, Chloe Baker Division 14 Lieutenant Governor

NORTHERN ADIRONDACK'S CHARITY MILES Charity Miles is a free app available for download on most app stores and allows you to run, bike, and walk, all while counting the miles you earn from those activities. Since at this time many are unable to inperson volunteer, the miles you attain count as your monthly service hours as well as turns into money for your selected charity. The NAC Key Club, as well as District 14, has chosen UNICEF! So far, the NAC Key club has 12 members involved and raised 59.25 dollars in October alone! Some of our members have even attained as many as 131 miles. One of the many things I love about charity miles is I can exercise while still making a difference to people in the world as well as UNICEF. Charity Miles is a great way I can stay involved in my club and world despite the pandemic. - Alanna Vassar President, Northern Adirondack Key Club

GOVERNOR'S PROJECT

This year, Governor Mariam has chosen Canines for Disabled Kids as her Governor's Project. They promote service dogs for children with disabilities. As of 2017, they have helped more than 3,500 kids in 11 states. Since 1998, CDK has sponsored over 130 service dogs. All of the services provided by CDK are FREE of charge! These include educational presentations, booth events, and Americans with Disability (ADA) consulting. For more information about Canines for Disabled Kids, click here.

DISTRICT PROJECT This year, our District Project is Project Hope! For more than 60 years, Project HOPE has transformed the health and wellbeing of people and communities around the world. We work on the front lines of the world’s health challenges, partnering hand-inhand with communities, health care workers and public health systems to ensure sustainable change. For more information about Project Hope, click here. Division 14 November Newsletter ~ Page 10

DISTRICT ENDORSED PROJECT The Kiwanis Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation was created in the 2000-2001 service year. Lyme Disease is caused by the bacteria found in deer ticks. The faster the treatment, the lower possibilities of longer symptoms. Many insurance companies do not pay for treatment, so the KPLDF works hard to help lower the cost. To support the Kiwanis Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation, your club can host a take a bite out of a "lyme" fundraiser, or host a "key lyme" pie in the face contest.
