There's even more hustle and bustle in the NE1 office this fortnight, if that’s possible! We’re manning the phones and taking any opportunity we can to talk to each and every single business in the city (1,400 of them, can you believe it!) about our current Renewal ballot. It’s our chance to look back at all that has been achieved and delivered by NE1 over the last 10 years (as the lovely map in the last issue showed!), and more importantly, to focus in on what the next five years would see us do and where Newcastle would progress to, should we be successful in our vote. It’s an enormously exciting time for us, and hopefully for you, as we spend some time honing in on what we want Newcastle to be, how it could look, and how we can make that happen, to continue the upward trend that has seen success after success over the past 10 years. You’ll find our plans on page 9, or in more detail at www.newcastlene1ltd.com, but that's not all - you’ll also find page after page of amazing events, offers, city updates and great content throughout this and every issue of our Get into Newcastle magazine. Here’s to a positive ‘Yes’ vote, and a guaranteed 120 more editions of your go-to guide! BEN WHITFIELD MARKETING & EVENTS MANAGER

Y Salon is a forward-thinking, eco-friendly salon in the heart of the city centre - putting the planet first! Not only will the team take care of all your hairdressing needs, but they’re the creators of the famous ‘Geordie Blow Dry’ and have worked backstage at fashion weeks in London, New York, Milan and Paris. Kind of a big deal, right? Well, we have even more reason to love this superb salon as they establish themselves in the marketplace as the North East’s primary eco-friendly salon offering a range of sustainable, vegan products. So what are they doing to make the world a better place? They're inviting customers to recycle empty shampoo or conditioner bottles in exchange for salon vouchers - the Y Salon team will then donate to Coast Care Northumberland, to help clean up our local beaches. You’ll also find the first vegan hair lightener, bio-degradable coffee and beautiful, ethical haircare brands. ysalon.co.uk
