Taste of the Toon

CALLING ALL FOODIES OF NEWCASTLE, THE NORTH EAST AND BEYOND! GET A TASTE OF WHAT THE TOON HAS TO OFFER WITH TRIPLE A FOOD TOURS Whether it’s a special celebration, a Friday night date or Hump Day treats, if you're looking for somewhere to eat in NE1 and can’t choose between your favourite little deli, something new and nourishing, a high end restaurant or a cosy independent by the Tyne, we've got just the treat!. Triple A Food Tours are doing the hard work for us. Taking us on a tasty trail to trendy tapas spots, local seafood stalls, picture-perfect pubs, sky-high restaurants and sweet little parlours, you’ll tick everything off your foodie to-do list in one fun-filled afternoon. We meet our guide at Grey’s Monument in preparation for our taste tour. Throwing in a bit of culture and Newcastle know-how as we stroll through the city, we’re heading towards our first foodie pit-stop, La Casa Delicatessen in the Grainger Market. This cosmopolitan spot sits in a lively spot in the market hall, serving a fine selection of Spanish tapas alongside fine wine from across the country. Soaking up the Friday afternoon buzz as workers clock off for the weekend, we pick at a tapas platter, washing chorizo and cheese down with a large glass of red.

Staying in the Grainger Market, our next stop is at Lindsay Bros' seafood counter, where our food journey takes us under the sea with a couple of fresh Lindisfarne oysters. Next up, we mooch through the stunning Central Arcade before making our way down Grey Street and towards the Quayside, where we stop for a beer-fuelled burger feast. With its very own brewery on site, The Bridge Tavern knows its stuff when it comes to pairing beer and food. We try a whole load of different hops, alongside mini burgers in brioche buns. Time to reach for the sky as we hop over the Millennium Bridge and up to SIX. This BALTIC beauty is home to some of the finest wines and flavours on Tyneside. With that in mind, we’re served a cured meat platter with bread, olives and wine to seal the deal. Feeling full and content, a stroll back over the river is just what we need - as we work up an appetite for our final foodie fling - a sensational sweet treat! The Great British Cupcakery is the bakery in question, and boy is it a happy ending! Triple A Food Tours are a great way to find out more and fully experience Newcastle’s ever-
