Tthere is something about a New Orleans bride that has always intrigued me. I’ve noticed that, whether she is a trendsetting fashionista or a fan of traditional fashion, she often has something in common with her counterparts: A love of classic silhouettes and charm to spare. We celebrate this in every issue of the magazine, but never moreso than in this issue’s fashion spread.
Also of note, is our newly revamped Beauty section. We’ve focused our finds on locally made products or those available at local boutiques, so the hottest skincare, makeup and haircare is always close at hand — literally.
Meanwhile, the Details section has everything the quintessential Crescent City couple needs to plan a Big Day bash. From cakes inspired by “something blue” and seafood-infused reception menus to some of the city’s most fabulous new or newly-renovated event venues.
Finally, planning a wedding can be both exhilarating and exhausting, what with the many moving parts and the countless loved ones to wrangle, try to appease and otherwise navigate. Which is why I’m thrilled to share with you a new offering, The Wediquette: A Let Them Eat Cake Podcast. Learn more at the sidebar to your right and, hopefully, smooth the way on your Big Day.
Cheers!

FEELING FIT
While New Orleans is known for its amazing food and nightlife, brides- and grooms-to-be (and their bridal parties) can still strike a balance between fun and health thanks to a number of offerings from Footprints to Fitness. The company offers events — such as Brunch & Burn (a workout followed by brunch), Adult Field Day (with activities like kickball and relay races) and Move & Mingle (dance parties) — that are open to bachelorette or bachelor parties. Specialized offerings include Sweatin’ For the Wedding, which includes experiences like yoga, Pilates, historic runs and puppy yoga (with a portion of the proceeds going to the partnering rescue organization), and Bridal Party Wellness, which can include experiences like massages, facials and fashion styling. Try the Let the Good Times Roll Bachelorette Package (a 60-minute fitness class, a wellness experience, a custom playlist, complimentary water, a champagne or mimosa toast, and a light and healthy breakfast). Footprints to Fitness also can create custom health and wellness events before the Big Day. footprintstofitness. com

Before the big day, try the NAD+ Daily Moisturizing Cream with its NAD+, snail mucin, antioxidants and probiotics. The Naderma line also includes NAD+ Power Serum, NAD+ Recovery Serum, and a Vitamin C Resurfacing Scrub and Vitamin C Resurfacing Activator. naderma.com
BIG DAY PREP
With mile-long to-do lists, nonstop meetings with vendors and trying to keep everyone happy, it’s no wonder brides are under a lot of pressure. Bridal fitness coach and author Stephanie Thomas has written a new book called “The Little Book of Rest” ($15, Adams Media) that’s a perfect gift for brides (and their bridal parties) as they prepare for the Big Day. The book includes more than 100 simple and enjoyable ways to introduce physical, emotional and spiritual rest into daily life. Examples include overcoming stressful situations by cuddling with a pet or spending 10 minutes daydreaming about something pleasant; and taking a mental break by doing a 10-minute meditation or turning off devices for 30 minutes. Available for order at local independent bookstores.
BRIDAL GEMS

Gulf Coast Fare to Share
Make a statement with seafood as the center point of your wedding
BY AMY GABRIEL
Of all the fish in the sea, you’ve found yours and are ready to celebrate. Whether you fell in love over a meet-cute at a crawfish boil or consider oysters your shared love language, your dream is to take a deep dive into the delicious delicacies of Gulf Coast seafood to make a splash at your wedding reception.
As you begin to have visions of caviar bars dancing in your heads, David Harrower, executive banquet chef at the Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans, says to start the conversation with budget as a consideration.
“The question is whether you are coming up with grand ideas or budgeting first, as the possibilities when it comes to presentation are endless,” said Harrower, referencing personalized ice sculpture displays for cold seafood presentations and caviar blinis paired with vodka as an amuse-bouche. “That said, over-the-top aesthetics and staffing are the biggest expense for a Gulf seafood-style menu.”
He suggests live action stations to present your partygoers with wow factor.
“Couples are often intrigued by oyster shucking stations, caviar and boiled shrimp, as those are classics that elevate the guest experience,” said Harrower. “The interactive displays are a common request because they elevate the lively vibe that coincides with the city of New Orleans.”
Chef Amy Mehrtens of Bonfire Events + Catering encourages couples to consider the flow of the event to build the guest experience in terms of taste.
“We usually start with the cold or raw seafood apps that are bite-sized.
When it’s time to transition, we would start passing apps that are larger and warmer,” said Mehrtens, noting options such as forbidden rice paella or Gulf fish amandine. “This means the guest will be able to try several types of offerings before getting full.”
She urges couples to bear in mind seasonality to shape a menu you can most reasonably and successfully serve.
“We want to provide seafood at peak deliciousness, and there are certain times of the year that some may be unavailable,” said Mehrtens. “Knowledge is the best defense against getting your hopes up. Planning a crawfish boil at your wedding in September, for example, is sure to be a disappointment.”
Additionally, Jennifer Sherrod, co-owner of Elysian Events, sees Gulf Coast seafood as an opportunity to get creative with presentation and showcase your personality as a couple.
“We have definitely had couples feature seafood items that have a personal connection with them,” said Sherrod, recalling ideas for passed hors d’oeuvres like a “mini crawfish boil,” served in a spoon to feature all the flavors of a boil in one bite, a Creole rice bar with Louisiana favorites like seafood gumbo and shrimp étouffée, and even a wedding cake featuring oyster shells as adornment.
“Sometimes it’s a dish that is a childhood or personal favorite, sometimes a favorite thing that a loved one makes just for them.” b

Cocktails to complement Gulf Coast seafood
BY AMY GABRIEL
When clinking in the Crescent City, it’s highly likely you’ll do so during happy hour on the half-shell, or at a puckish brunch with prawns and pops of prosecco.
For couples with a crush on crustaceans, consider allowing seafood to take center stage as your reception fare. Wedding experts say Gulf Coastinspired libations can do their utmost to complement a menu’s swimmingly sensational delights.
“Having cocktails paired with seafood appetizers will have guests learning something new that will stick with them forever,” said Jessica Robinson, owner and creative director of JusTini’s Cocktails.
She favors kickstarting the festivities with a curated moment to set an exciting tone from sip one.
“Providing the ultimate experience
during the cocktail hour will leave a lasting impression,” said Robinson, who suggests “oystertinis” or a Ramos Gin Fizz paired with smoked seafood or fresh oysters. “Any unique experience will have wedding guests raving about your wedding for years to come.”
Hadi Ktiri, assistant director of food and beverage at the Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans, enjoys starting with Gulf Coast seafood staples and allowing the pairing to elevate the experience.
For sophisticated combinations, “One cocktail we’ve found to always be brilliant with seafood is a refreshing Parisian-style cobbler,” he says. “Our favorite uses Lillet rosé and local berries, while the underrated, but wonderfully classic, tuxedo cocktail — made with gin, dry sherry and orange bitters — is an incredible
complement to oysters.”
Ktiri, who has been known to incorporate an alligator ice sculpture or pair a seafood tower with flaming espresso martinis, reminds couples that creative presentation is an exciting component for the guest experience — but Instagrammable moments can come in all sizes.
“The smallest details make for the most memorable events,” said Ktiri. “When we present a unique pairing such as vodka and raw oysters, it adds that wow factor that gets the guests excited.”
Balancing flavor profiles is among the top considerations for successful cocktail and seafood pairings, says Nate Usrey, executive director of Blue Book Barkeeps.
“Savory elements are a beautiful addition to seafood pairings,” says Usrey, who often incorporates spirits
ABV and Buzz Free
A well-rounded wedding bar takes into consideration not just the cocktail contingent, but those who choose to abstain.
Emily Staurulakis, sommelier of Copper Vine and Bonfire Events + Catering, says, “As the [availability] of highquality, alcohol-free ‘spirits’ like tequila, rum and whiskey rise, as well as alcohol-free wine, I think you’ll see more couples choosing to feature these.”
Jennifer Sherrod, co-owner of Elysian Events notes the same trend. “We have definitely had an uptick in couples wanting to offer a mocktail option at the bar,” she says, suggesting concepts like booze-free Pimm’s Cups or spritzers to beat the New Orleans heat. She sees alternative options like these as thoughtful considerations for your guests who choose to tipple, too. “Low-ABV cocktails are great to offer for second lines or pre-ceremony so that guests are not consuming too much before getting some food in their stomach.”
such as mezcal and botanical-style gin. “Thai basil is one of my favorites because it plays beautifully with so many of the local Vietnameseinspired preparations you find in New Orleans.”
For guests anticipating classic New Orleans cocktails, Usrey notes that serving a classic French 75 not only complements dishes with blackened seasoning, but is a sophisticated consideration for your partygoers from both in and out of town.
“Guests notice the cohesion, the vision, the fact that you and your bar team thought this out,” he says. “It shows a certain consideration from the host to their guests, saying, ‘We care about your experience here. This is about you, not us.’ It’s basically the greatest ‘thank you for coming’ message a guest can receive.” b

Margaret Place — a Greek revival mansion built in 1854 that was painstakingly restored over a five-year period by owner and operator Trenton Gauthier and his mentor the late Wayne Troyer — opened in March 2021. “We’re trying to disrupt some aspects of the wedding industry,” Gauthier says. “We’re an open venue that allows any vendors (except for the bar that we do ourselves, owing to licensing), and we’re committed to flat, fair pricing and transparency.” The hotel provides tours, furniture, light and sound capability and a sumptuous bridal suite. The flexible indoor and outdoor event spaces can accommodate 80 to 230 guests within a semi-tropical courtyard and the luxe interiors. The hotel also opened a cafe and restaurant, dubbed Rising Sun, in September 2022. “[Rising Sun] allows us to deliver a great day-of experience for the couple,” Gauthier adds. 1133 Margaret Place, margaretplacehotel.com
THE TELL ME BAR
A collaboration between Uznea Bauer, Cory Cartwright and Tyler Robinson, The Tell Me Bar is a new natural wine bar in the Lower Garden District. The owners offer more than 150 small-production wines, and they hope to grow that number as different allocated wines become available. The beautiful, fun and inclusive space features seating for 80 guests indoors and on the outdoor patio area, while the boutique annex room seats 12. The entire space also can be rented (for up to 125 guests) for bridal showers and bachelorette parties. 1235 St. Thomas St., thetellmebar.com
TUJAGUE’S
One of the oldest and most famous restaurants in the city, Tujague’s newly renovated three-story restaurant offers six dining rooms and can accommodate events for 10 to 300 guests. From rehearsal dinners to wedding receptions, Tujague’s has all the elements for a quintessential French Quarter event with fantastic food and a gorgeous backdrop thanks to traditional local architectue and interior design, and Tujague’s décor dating to the restaurant’s opening in 1865. Spaces on the first floor include the Parlor Room (40 seats), the Begue Room (30 seats) and the courtyard (50 seats); spaces on the second floor include the Patio Room (48 seats), the Krewe of Iris Room (64 seats), the Balcony Room (16 seats) and the entire second floor buyout (for up to 135 guests); and spaces on the third floor include the Steven Latter Room (60 seats) and the Guichet Room (24 seats). 429 Decatur St., tujaguesrestaurant.com b

Documenting the Big Day
Four local photographers offer advice for capturing couples’ wedding days
BY OWEN RACER
From the “must have” shot list to unexpected candid moments, couples place their trust in their wedding photographer to assure they can infinitely relive their special day. However, those frame-worthy photos don’t come without expertise, and New Orleans photographers all agree the better a couple’s relationship is with their photographer ahead of time, the better the photos. Here, four local photographers share their like-minded emphasis on establishing an easygoing relationship with couples up front and much more on how to best capture a wedding day.
KRISTIN SOILEAU PHOTOGRAPHY
On par with her peers in the New Orleans photography industry, Kristin Soileau Freeman and her one-woman show that is Kristin Soileau Photography advises her couples to assure they align and “vibe” with their photographer on a non-business level first. When this is established up front, it opens the door for one of Soileau’s goals as a photographer, to “photograph with walls down,” meaning her couples don’t have theoretical
barriers up on their Big Day.
Furthermore, Soileau recommends couples get their family and friends on board with their photographer as well, so all the couple’s closest people are comfortable come wedding day and don’t view the photographer as just another vendor.
Soileau believes there’s no need to mock or create scenes, shooting with an “If I miss it, I miss it” motto, one that allows her photography to capture more organic moments. Soileau advises couples to not forget that the day doesn’t have to fit a definition of “perfect”; ordinary moments are extraordinary, she says.
Booking with Soileau means couples forgo the director type for more of an observer, as she reminds couples they don’t need to think or worry about her on their day as she captures moments as they naturally unfold. Although she may be found pushing the limits with a unique photo angle, Soileau says it is important for couples to remember they’ll likely be spending more time with their photographer on their Big Day than any

other individual person, even their betrothed.
“At the end of the day, this is their day and I’m just stepping into it and it’s an honor,” Soileau said. kristensoileau.com
MATEO & CO.
With a stylist accompanying their lead photographer and owner, Matt Diaz, to every wedding, Mateo & Co. has been focused on “fun and fabulous” luxury since 2012. Diaz emphasizes meeting couples for a cocktail or coffee before arranging plans as a friendly rapport is crucial to a wedding’s photographic success.
Diaz advises couples he works with to stay true to themselves as capturing organic moments is key to storytelling. Couples can expect Diaz’s shots to be classic, timeless and authentic, as he believes in capturing timeless styles, angles and moments.
When booking with Mateo & Co. couples are required to have a wedding planner, an asset to the day that Diaz considers the “best investment they’ll make.” As a reminder to couples on their Big Day, Diaz assures there should be comfort in asking your photographer questions and suggestions, something he warmly welcomes.
Diaz, who enjoys a good time himself, affirms that couples will be satisfied with their photos if they invest the time in building solid rapport with their photographer. Once compatibility is established and wedding day comes, Diaz and his stylist will assure every detail of the day’s photographs are on point, from a clean background to reducing stress, the addition of a stylist reminds couples why booking Mateo & Co. is unique.
A recommendation Diaz has been reminding couples of lately is the crucial importance lighting plays in the day. Investing in lighting is a great way to enhance the scene and photographs, Diaz said. mateoco.com
SILVER LOOP STUDIOS
For destination wedding couples, familiarizing yourself with New Orleans can greatly impact the essence of the photos, according to Cameron Johnson, Silver Loop Studios’ lead photographer.
Once a couple secures a photographer for their wedding, it’s time to put trust in them and remember they’re likely in the business because they value people and want the best for your day, Johnson said. “We are legitimately on your side.”
Not falling into the trap of styling your wedding day off someone else’s is a key to original and personal photographs and a generally happier
wedding, Johnson believes.
Given that “time is your most valuable resource” on a wedding day, to assure a diverse range of moments are captured, Johnson recommends having the day’s events in only one to two locations, to maximize time. With roots in photojournalism, fine art and fashion, Silver Loop Studios recommends communication between couples and their team, as it is the easiest way to assure efficiency and satisfaction.
As with fellow photographers, Johnson recommends — budget permitting — that couples invest in a wedding planner as they too, assure effectiveness in the day’s success.
“Anything can happen on a wedding day and there [are] no do-overs,” Johnson said. silverloopstudios.com
EAU CLAIRE PHOTOGRAPHICS
Specializing in documentary-style photography, Sandra and Sam O’Claire, the husband-and-wife duo behind Eau Claire Photographics, have organically captured New Orleans weddings since 2002.
O’Claire highly encourages her couples to remember it’s their wedding, not a photo shoot, which if embodied successfully, will result in the offshoot moments captured matching that of a photoshoot.
With Sam focusing on culinary photography, Sandra is the main wedding photographer, so when booking Eau Claire, couples can expect natural laughter as she admits her continual verbal communication invokes plenty of candid moments. As a couple, finding a photographer who matches your personality is a make-or-break aspect for the fluidity of the Big Day, O’Claire said.
Rather than posed shots, O’Claire has found the off moments mean more to the couple in the end, so she reminds them that she is just a “fly on the wall” and that a ton of intentional engagement between the couple and her isn’t necessary for a great gallery. However, for posed portraits, O’Claire encourages an intimate moment for her couples to lessen the stress and discomfort of excited onlookers, usually the wedding parties.
For those looking for a New Orleans essence in their photos, O’Claire reminds her couples that is an element of the planning process, as it is hard to weave in last minute.
O’Claire’s documentary focus comes into play when couples enjoy the reception together, engage with each other, and work the room as one. eauclairephotographics.com b

Musical Notes
Soloists can turn any wedding into a romantic and intimate event
BY MISTY MILIOTO
It’s no secret that many talented musicians call New Orleans home. Whether it’s catching big names like Trombone Shorty or Jon Batiste, a second line popping up throughout the city or any number of buskers on Bourbon Street, music is a way of life in the Crescent City. While DJs and bands always are a good choice for weddings and receptions, soloists add a touch of romanticism that just can’t be replicated by thumping beats or larger ensembles. Here are a few highly rated local musicians to consider for upcoming nuptials.
ROBIN BARNES, AKA THE SONGBIRD OF NEW ORLEANS
Singer, songwriter and performer
Robin Barnes (also known as The Songbird of New Orleans) began playing tambourine with her father’s jazz band at the age of six and quickly discovered her passion
for music. In 2016, she received a No. 5 debut on the Traditional Jazz Albums Billboard charts. In addition to singing at the MTV India Music Summit in Jaipur and performing the national anthem at the 2019 Sugar Bowl, Barnes has been seen on ESPN, BET, NCIS and Bravo. She also has received high acclaim from The New York Times, Forbes, Marie Claire, Travel & Leisure, Yahoo! Music and more, while also entertaining music royalty such as Rod Stewart, Herbie Hancock and Marcus Miller during her residency at New Orleans’ Windsor Court Hotel Polo Club Lounge. Her current sound — a unique blend of jazz, funk and soul — can be heard in both her original songs as well as in renditions of popular songs and contemporary classics. She has performed with the full band (Robin Barnes & The Fiya Birds) for receptions, has learned specific songs for first dances and has performed as a duo or trio for ceremonies. robinbarnesmusic.com
Guitarist and music teacher Sean Huddleston has been playing in wedding ceremonies for more than 10 years. He studied classical guitar and music composition at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and he currently resides in Opelousas with his wife and new baby. Available for New Orleans weddings, Huddleston plays prelude music while the guests arrive, the ceremony music and one song after the ceremony for the recessional. “Solo guitar music (with amplification) gives a wedding ceremony a feeling of sweetness, simplicity and intimacy,” he says. “Brides and grooms can request any new songs they want, and I will arrange them for guitar or look up a version that will work for me. I want the ceremony music to reflect the bride and groom, and the family members’ unique musical tastes, so I give them time to think about what music is special to them.” seanplaysweddings.com
Pianist and harpist Lauren Lewandowski graduated from Loyola University New Orleans with a Bachelor of Music degree in piano pedagogy and a Master of Music degree in piano performance. She has run a successful piano studio for more than 15 years. But, as much as she loves piano, Lewandowski started harp lessons after college and fell in love with the instrument. For weddings, she plays elegant, romantic music for 30 minutes before the ceremony. She also plays for elements such as the bridal party’s procession, the bridal entrance and any other special moments during the ceremony. She can play classical wedding repertoire in addition to pop music. Lewandowski also is happy to take requests so that the music choices are special and personal to the couple. 225-266-7218, pianowithlauren.com

ALICIA RENEE, AKA BLUE EYES
From her first performance in “The Wiz” musical in middle school, Alicia Renee (also known as Blue Eyes and the Gem of the Vieux Carre) has gone on to sing at venues all over the world, including La Scène in Paris, the Jazz Café in London, the North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland and the worldfamous Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. She also was featured in the 2022 five-time Grammy Award-winning Jon Batiste music video, “Freedom.” She performs music in different genres, from jazz (such as Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong) to soul (such as Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey). She also sings opera, and in French and Spanish. For weddings, she can perform as a soloist with a pianist or with a small band (such as a trio or quartet). She also is always happy to honor requests and suggestions for the choice of songs. linktr.ee/bluuwise
AMANDA
SHAW
Cajun fiddle queen, veteran live performer and Louisiana Music Hall of Fame inductee Amanda Shaw is a regular performer at major festivals like the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and French Quarter Festival. Her unique sound — an energetic mix of Cajun music with a pop sensibility — has led to high critical acclaim. She signed with Rounder Records in 2006 and released her first album, “Pretty Runs Out,” under the new label. “Good Southern Girl” was the follow-up album, released under Poorman Mayfield Music, a record label co-founded by New Orleans jazz legend Irvin Mayfield. In the spring of 2022, Opry Network’s The Southern Weekend enlisted Shaw’s talents as host, exposing her to a national audience. Over the years, Shaw has collaborated with many music legends, including Charlie Daniels, Cyndi Lauper and Michael Franti. Today, Shaw has six studio albums and several EPs under her belt, and she continues to write and record music with an ever-deepening respect for Cajun music. amandashaw.com
NELL SIMMONS
Known for her soaring vocals and soulful stage presence, native New Orleanian and vocalist Nell Simmons auditioned for American Idol in 2004, embarked on a theater musical opportunity for “Dreamgirls” in New Orleans and recorded music in New York City. She currently tours with Trombone Shorty in the United States and the United Kingdom, and she has appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “Good Morning America.” Simmons loves performing at weddings, and she describes her repertoire as a mix of R&B, soul and jazz, influenced with a hint of pop. She offers an acoustic three-piece band for smaller ceremonies and other intimate events, such as cocktail hours. 202-5497, facebook.com/ NellSMusiq
ASHLEY TOMAN
Ashley Toman started playing the harp and studying music at the age of 14 in Traverse City, Michigan. Three years later, she was accepted to the prestigious Eastman School of Music where she earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in harp performance. Toman’s career as a freelance harpist has taken her all over the United States and Europe. She performed twice daily as the harpist in residence at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan, for five seasons, which gave her an opportunity to build up a versatile and expansive repertoire covering many genres of music. Since moving to Louisiana, Toman has appeared with the Louisiana Philharmonic and Baton Rouge Symphony. She also has recorded with Ani DiFranco, and she is the harpist seen and heard in the Tarantino film “Django Unchained” as well as the 2013 film “Repentance.” Today, she performs for wedding ceremonies and other events across southeastern Louisiana. “I can accommodate any genre of music requested,” she says. “Every once in awhile, I will have a client who feels shy about asking me for a special request song that might seem out of the ordinary for the harp, but no request is too out there.” ashleytoman.com b

Best Beaching
These tropical locales are the hottest honeymoon spots in the world
BY BECCA HENSLEY
Being beach babies, you and your beloved know you want a honeymoon by the ocean. Visions of palm trees swaying, waves crashing, sunscreen slathered and tropical libations at your beck and call fill your head. You’ve even bought matching swimsuits to celebrate your union. The problem? You don’t know which exotic tropical destination matches your expectations. We’re here to help with this abbreviated guide to some of the best beach honeymoon hotspots on Earth.
THE MALDIVES
Known for its crystal-clear waters, composed of some 2,000 islands scattered like spilled marbles from the southern tip of India to the equator, the far-flung Maldives has more than 100 resorts,
many of them occupying their own island, each an oasis of startling luxury and pampering. From underwater suites and treehouse restaurants to overwater bungalows with slides to whisk you into the water, each hotel has astonishing features. Choose The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, an all-villa resort with five restaurants, contemporary architecture and a first-class spa for its lobster dinners under the stars and Stay Enchanted Package, which brims with inclusions.
THE SEYCHELLES
Wildlife buffs and those entranced by wilder landscapes will be charmed by The Seychelles, situated in the western Indian Ocean, north of Madagascar. Easy to bookend a visit after a safari, this archipelagic destination boasts eye-
popping snorkeling and Robinson Crusoe- worthy uninhabited islands. Don’t miss a visit, picnic or stay in Praslin or La Digue, islands lost in time.
Choose Anantara Maia overlooking Anse Louis beach in Mahé as your base for excellent all-inclusive dining and thatched-roof suites designed by architect genius Bill Bensley. Expect stellar service at the only five-star beachside resort in Mahé.
FRENCH POLYNESIA
Easily reached by an overnight flight from the California coast, French Polynesia, composed of myriad islands, deftly melds the best of French chic (think: food, style and wine) with Polynesia’s soulful, affable ancient culture. You’ll be served breakfast by canoe, stay in over water bungalows
78 SUMMER/AUTUMN 2023 HONEYMOON
The Caribbean Islands
with windows in the floor for fish viewing, see manta rays in the gin-clear waters of the lagoon and constantly don crowns and leis of aromatic flowers.
Choose InterContinental Bora Bora + Thalasso Spa for its romantic and roomy suites above the lagoon, its location in gorgeous Bora Bora, its boat arrival from the airport, spa and its abundant resort activities.
THAILAND
Exquisite ribbons of white sand, cobalt waters, long tail boats, spicy food and graceful denizens exemplify the honeymoon experience in Thailand, where most of the divine beaches lie in the south of this eye-catching Asian country, spanning the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.
Choose Four Seasons Koh Samui, built on the site of a bygone orchard, peppered with coconut trees for its Thai-style villas with private infinity
pools, fine Thai dining and locally-inspired activities such as Muay Thai boxing.
BALI
Yogis will be drawn to Bali for its mystical aura, Buddhist energy, temples, healers and monkeys, while water sports enthusiasts will swoon over its yearround, surfable conditions. In Indonesia, edged by sugary sand and turquoise waters, Bali’s interiors are a riot of green jungles, volcanic peaks and flowering trees. Beyond the beach, lovers can hike, meet with world-renowned yoga teachers, visit artisan galleries and sightsee.
Choose Amankila for its location on the Lombok Strait beneath hallowed Mount Agung, treehouse-like suites that hover over frangipani framed pathways and three-level infinity pool.
THE CARIBBEAN ISLANDS
With 13 sovereign states and 17 dependent territo-
ries in the Caribbean Sea, not to mention a host of languages (Spanish, French, Dutch, English and Antillean Creole) unique cultures and diverse, topography, the variety in the Caribbean makes choosing one of the Caribbean Islands for your honeymoon potentially daunting. We’re voting for St. Lucia with its healing volcanic mud, chocolate tours, organic gardens, renowned, pointy Pitons promontories (as recognizable as the Eiffel Tower) and array of hiking, biking and water sports action.
Choose swanky Jade Mountain Resort, a favorite of architecture buffs for its cave-like structure linked by bridges, al fresco suites, each with personal swimming pools that sit inside the guest rooms, bedazzling vistas and daily sunset sail. b
