Words of Love Dear Nanna,

I have always considered you to be the greatest evidence of God’s kindness and favor to the Evans family. Without ever overstepping your bounds, you became indescribably important to every one of us. For me and my siblings, it doesn’t do justice to call you auntie, you became a second mother to all of us. You brought something so special to this family that I can’t imagine what it would have been without you. The years I lived with you on Barlow were some of the best years of my life. From the first day I moved in you always made me feel as though I were your son. I was in awe of you. I thought you were the most inwardly and outwardly beautiful lady I had ever seen. When I met Shannon, I knew from day one I had found me a wife, because she reminded me of you. It made me so happy to see you embrace Shannon as a daughter too, and she has always loved you as a second mother as well. Rest on Nanna, we will see each other again inside the pearly gates. You are truly special, truly one of kind. Love Brian and Shannon

Sharon had a sweet spirit, was warm, friendly, had a heartwarming smile, never complained about anything and never had anything bad to say about anyone. She loved her family and showed genuine concern for everyone who touched her life. She had a special relationship with her cousin Marie (Re), who she nurtured with a mother's love. The light of her love will always shine bright in our hearts. Love Karen

The Day God Took You Home

Never Say Goodbye

A million times I've needed you A million times I've cried, If love alone Could have saved you you never would have died. In life I loved you dearly, In death I love you still. In my heart you hold a place, No one else can ever fill, It broke my heart to lose you, But you didn't go alone Part of me went with you, The day God took you home.

There can be no goodbyes for us It'd be too painful, dear Our connection still lives on Although you're far from here

Love Mandy

I miss the times that we once had But one day, once again I'll hold you close and laugh with you I just wish I knew when Each moment 'til that day arrives Until my time is through I'll miss you more than words can say And always think of you I'll look for you among the stars, And each dawn's pastel sky, And whisper words of love to you But never say goodbye Love Jay

To My TT, I miss you so much, already. I'm so thankful that God blessed me to have two great Moms. And in these past few years, I'm so grateful that I had the chance to pour back into you a fraction of the things you poured into me. Thank you for being so unselfish with your time, your love and wisdom. Since you've been gone, I notice something everyday about myself that I've learned from you. You mean more to me than I can every explain. I love you always, Your Ronnie Bonnie

SharonEvans The Obituary of

Mother

Sharon Owens made her earthly debut on August 18, 1953. She was born to the union of Edward and Geraldine Owens, who preceded her in death. She was the second of three children, Dennis Owens, who proceeded her in death and Karen Owens. Additional siblings who proceeded her in death, Fern Bledsoe, Barbara Tucker and Kenneth Owens. Sharon was educated in the Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Kettering Sr. High School in 1970 at the age of 16. She married her high school sweetheart Steven Gregory Evans on September 23, 1972. Sharon and Steve shared 45 beautiful years of marriage until Steve was called home on May 27, 2018. Sharon began her career in the secretarial and administrative field with jobs at Mr. T’s, AAA and Bundey. After 20 years of service she retired from the James Group International (formerly OJ Transport) in the field of accounting and human resources 2001. Family was everything to Sharon, who later in life affectionately became known as “Nana” because of the motherly love she showed to everyone. Sharon was a very important part of the Evans family from the time she met Steve. Throughout the years, she helped raise many of her nieces and nephews often times opening her home for them to stay for as long as they needed. Sharon had a special relationship with her cousins Anna Altman, Margaret Singletary and Marie Thomas, niece Rhonda Evans and raised her twin great-niece and nephew, Amanda Evans Davis and Jason Evans as her own children. Despite her very large family, Sharon made time for everyone. She enjoyed taking the nieces and nephews on special trips to the zoo, the circus, amusement parks, the movies, skating, Sesame Street Live and Disney on Ice as young children. Sharon took pride in teaching the children how to cook and bake. Nana’s house was the house to hang out. Every weekend you could drop by without calling and when you got there, the house was full of family already. Sharon loved the holidays. She hosted Family Thanksgiving dinner every year.

A Homegoing Celebration

To know Sharon was to know pure love. She poured her love into her family and friends and we are all the better for it. Sharon was a class act and carried herself accordingly. She was soft spoken but had a presence. She was jokingly referred to as the godfather by the family. She enjoyed listening to good music, especially Bishop Rance Allen and Motown music. Sharon confessed Christ at an early age at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, she later joined Maclin Temple COGIC in 1979 under the leadership of Pastor and Mother Maclin. In 1991, she joined Open Door COGIC as a founding member under the leadership of Pastor and Lady Evans. Sharon served in various positions at Open Door, such as the mother’s board, trustee board, church secretary, personal secretary to the Pastor and much more. Although often dealing with her own illness, Sharon was a caregiver. She took care of her parents, her brother Dennis, her aunt Hilda Altman, her mother-inlaw Annie Ruth Evans and her husband Steven Evans in their final days. She was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others. Sharon took ill in 2020. She spent many of her days in the hospital fighting to the very end. Her joy for life and determined spirit kept her pushing through the pain. She succumbed to her illness on January 16, 2022, after surviving Renal Failure Disease and Cancer. Through her we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. Sharon leaves to cherish her memory her children Amanda Evans (Sheldon) Davis, Jason Evans and Alyssa Anderson, her grandchildren Sheldon “Snooky” Davis, Skyler Evans, Karee Peeples and Chase Davis, her sisters Karen C. Owens and Sandra Smith, her brother-in-law Alan (Shernetta) Evans, sisterin-laws Jean Owens and Pauline Bey. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god daughters, close friends, church family, neighbors and more. We will miss her deeply.
