never elected. Miller insists he won’t bad-mouth what has gone on during recent terms of council while stressing that more needs to be done to promote economic development. “We need to go ahead,” says Miller, who is serving his first term on council. In announcing his candidacy for the Oct. 27, 2014 municipal election,
the Carp native said the town needs a mayor with “considerable economic development experience to attract industry and commercial business to the town.” The long-time former Ottawa resident spent most of his teenage years in Renfrew with his foster parents. He returned with wife Sandra to live here 13 years ago. In seeking to become mayor, Mill-
er says the best candidate for mayor must have communication skills that facilitate group discussion to achieve goals. If elected mayor, Miller says there would be no hierarchy or pyramid style, as now exists, with the mayor and council at the top, with senior management next, then town staff, and the general public only informed of decisions made.
