News - Megan Hazen, 18, of Admaston-Bromley has been a constant entrant for Renfrew Fair competitions at Exhibition Hall over the years. But not this year. Ironically, she may now look at the hall in an entirely different light, not because she was a non-participant, but because a piece of her art now adorns the entrance to the hall. The Renfrew Agricultural Society commissioned her to provide a painting that was intended to tell visitors what the building’s all about during the fair. It’s this former First World War drill hill for Renfrew and Lanark Scottish Regiment, but each September, it’s full of creative, if not persistent, entrants who are judged in 10 different categories. It’s a pot-pourri of the agricultural scene in Renfrew and area, and that’s exactly what Hazen provided with her 12-foot and eight-foot painting, which was initially delivered in three 4x8 sections. “It’s here to enhance and to encourage the wonderful work and displays at the fair, says Katrina Crozier, president of the Renfrew Fair’s home craft division at Exhibition Hall. “We’re so proud of it, said Renfrew Fair general manager Judy Dobec. The displays at Exhibition Hall will be open during next week’s fair, from 4-10 p.m. opening day, then 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, STEVE NEWMAN/METROLAND Sept. 8. All visitors will also pass under the The Exhibition Hall is now adorned with an artistic description of its contents during the annual Renfrew Fair that started yesterday and runs until Sunday, Sept .8.
