Radiothon Sunday
Raiders pride on display at Pigskin Parade
Tiffany Lepack/Metroland
Raising their hands for the Raiders are: Abbie Chunick, Morgan Virgin, Cassey Gibbons, Mikeala Ripley, Madison Stroud, Georgia Clemmer, and Karah-Lynne Marion. The Renfrew Collegiate Institute students were atop a truck bed for the annual Pigskin Parade that made its way downtown on Friday, Oct. 13. The day proved unlucky for the junior squad who lost 26-14 to Arnprior but the seniors were victorious over Rideau 45-0. For more on the parade and game see pages 18 and 31.
The Reach For The Rainbow Radiothon is the annual public outreach event sponsored by Friends of the Disabled (Renfrew) in support of Sunshine Coach. It will air live on Valley Heritage Radio (VHR) 98.7 FM Sunday, Oct. 22 from 1-5 p.m. Anchor host Art Jamieson will be joined by Christa Pare along with several other guests during the broadcast. The Cavanagh Stage located at the VHR Studios at 3009 Burnstown Rd. will see continuous live entertainment. All funds raised will stay in our community and will go directly to support the operations of the Sunshine Coach. The mission of the radiothon is to ensure that Sunshine Coach remains viable and that fares remain affordable for everyone who depends on the service every day to overcome transportation barriers in their lives. Pledges may be called in during the radiothon using the pledge telephone line 613-432-7299. Secure online donations may be made through the Sunshine Coach website at www.sunshinecoach.ca.
