The vandalism done to the Admaston rink house is unacceptable behaviour, according to volunteers now tasked with completing the repairs. However, the community is joining together to offer resources, time and skill to ensure it continues to be a place for the young and old to enjoy. Angela Field, chair of the Admaston Recreation Committee (ARC), said everything they have done there is for the community. The rink is located on the grounds of Admaston Public School on Stone Road and was vandalized sometime this week. The damage was discovered on Friday, Jan. 6. “I feel really, really angry and disappointed,” said Field. “We’ve kept it open for the community to use free of charge.” The vandalism has even caused her to rethink how safe the rural area is, especially for some kids who skate on the ice by themselves. Grandpa Garry Smith took his grandson Noah Kuehl-Smith sledding on the hill at Ma-Te-Way Park on Jan. 8. They had the hill to themselves for a perfect day of winter fun.
