Hello, welcome to the new What’s On Guide With a brand new year comes a brand new programme of events encompassing theatre, music, comedy, film and exhibitions...or as we like to call it – a little something for everyone! We kick things off with Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s enduring tale of passion, murder and tragedy brought to life once again by Ballet West’s dancers at Paisley Town Hall. Performed to Prokofiev’s emotional score, Ballet West will return to Paisley following their hugely successful performance of Swan Lake just last year. In the theatre there will be sequins, shadow boxing and seaside tales created by some of the best theatre companies in the country. Don’t miss the Last Dream (on Earth) from The National Theatre of Scotland or Random Accomplice’s hilarious tribute to showbiz couple Sonny & Cher with And the Beat Goes On. Music fans also won’t be disappointed by the range of live entertainment we have to offer. With performances from jazz superstars Tommy Smith and Brian Kellock, world-renowned folk musicians Michael McGoldrick, John McCusker & John Doyle and industry veterans Mick Foster and Tony Allen we’ve catered for all tastes! For a light-hearted night out, look no further than our monthly stand-up night A Buddy Good Laugh. Created by our laughter partners Dead Sheep Comedy, we’ll be announcing the line up for each gig exactly one month in advance this season with regular attendees invited to make the most of the £6 early bird ticket once again. Puppets, pigs, pirates and princesses have been lined up to entertain our youngest customers this spring. On the family stage, macrobert’s mischievous North Pole natives go on an adventure in The Polar Bears Go Wild and there will be bugs and beasties galore in tree-climbing tale The Pine Tree, Poggle and Me. Rock ‘n’ roll takes control at Paisley Museum in January with a photography display featuring some of the most famous post-punk bands. Don’t miss What Presence! The Rock Photography of Harry Papadopoulos if you love The Clash, New Order, Altered Images or The Specials. There will also be one last chance to view famous LEGO® marvels like the Great Wall of China and International Space Station at Brick Wonders. What do you make of our spring line up? Get in touch with us via email, Facebook or Twitter and let us know; we love hearing from you! Hope you enjoy spring 2015!

A traveller stands on a beach in North Africa with a small group of friends. Tonight, they are getting ready, for a journey that might change their lives. Here, we will never know their names. Decades earlier, a young man is getting strapped into a tiny sphere, on top of a powerful rocket. His name will soon be known all over the world: his name is Yuri Gagarin. Out of nowhere, a musical dialogue starts. Words are spoken, the story of a trip of a lifetime emerges. It is a story of hope, dreams and beauty – and of sheer inhumanity. Last Dream (On Earth) interweaves a driving music score with accounts from those who risk their lives for a distant dream.

Amongst the inhabitants lives Lady Grange, a historical figure desperate to return to civilisation who tells the young bride unfamiliar stories of betrayal and abduction. Kirsty’s mother is inappropriate, embarrassing and definitely unusual. For 25 years Kirsty accepted crazy as conventional. All mothers are slightly insane, right? But Kirsty’s mother isn’t like other mothers…if you’re raised in madness who tells you what’s normal?
Jane Avril, star of the Moulin Rouge, cordially invites you to the Salpêtière Asylum.
Based on a true story, this solo show is a frank, funny and deeply touching tale of Kirsty McKenzie and her schizophrenic mother. Join Kirsty as she attempts to distinguish her mother from the madness, the one subject no one wants to mention.
The whole range of the Human Zoo will be present as Jane recounts her extraordinary journey from the brothel to the asylum wards to the Moulin Rouge.
