IKE ENTERED THE READING community theatre scene in 1994 at the tender age of 41, playing “Avram the Bookseller” in the Reading Jewish Community Center production of Fiddler on the Roof—and he was immediately bitten by “The Theatre Bug.” In the twenty four years since then, he’s become the “go-to-guy” for every area director seeking an over-age, over-the-top ham! He usually auditions for character parts where his facial mugging and florid hand gestures are considered more of an asset than a liability. Among Mike’s favorite musical roles are “Dr. Dreyfuss” in Promises, Promises; “Wilbur Turnblad” in Hairspray; and “Hucklebee” in The Fantasticks. His non-musical roles include “Dr. Einstein” in Arsenic and Old Lace, “Juror #11” in 12 Angry Men, and “Martin Vanderhof” in You Can’t Take It With You. Mike thanks his music director son, Dan, for all his behind-the-scenes musical coaching and his wife, Eve, for her support.

HEN MIKE ISN’T CHEWING UP the scenery on the amateur stages of Reading, PA, he can be found at his computer—writing, editing and designing his annual family newsletter, The Pardo Papers. For the past 25 years, this publication has documented all the important milestones in the Pardo household—graduations, new jobs, marriages, family vacations, the birth of two grandchildren, and much more. It’s become one of Mike’s creative obsessions. He is also a self-published author, having written and illustrated the 1982 graphic novel, Eve & Me, a true-life comic love story about how he met his wife, and their early courtship. To celebrate Eve and Mike’s recent 39th wedding anniversary, their daughter, Sarah, purchased custom-made dolls of the two of them—based on Mike’s cartoon drawings from the book. How cool is that? Sarah really knows how to cater to her dad’s ego! 3
