SPOTLIGHT on . . . “This show . . . evokes a pre-‘Hunger Games’ era when fantasies about teenage revenge could be smaller and didn’t have to involve apocalyptic maneuvers. In a way, this latest incarnation of Mike Pardo (far left, playing “Crazy ‘Heathers’ is to the 1980s what Old Maurice”) and Joey Moray (in ‘Grease’ was to the 1950s foreground, playing “The Beast”) (when it was first staged are among the Genesius players in the 1970s).” who will bring Disney’s BEAUTY to life.

BEAUTY’S CAST has its initial script read-through

ITH SCRIPTS IN HAND, the major cast members of Genesius Theatre’s December ‘18 production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast gathered together for the first time. For many, it was like a family reunion. Quite a few of them had shared the stage last year in Genesius’ hit production of Young Frankenstein. As the final show of the 2018 Season, the actors were united in their commitment to ending the year with a crowd-pleasing family musical smash. Since Genesius holds auditions for its entire season the first weekend in January, it has been ten long months of anticipation for the Beauty cast. Despite the fact that most of the actors had already appeared in shows earlier in the season, they all agreed that they couldn’t wait for Beauty rehearsals to begin. This Disney take on the classic fairy tale was a favorite for the entire cast, and they were eager to make this one of Genesius’ most memorable productions.
BEAUTY Director Chris Sperat (standing in front of the FUN HOME set) is looking forward to an outstanding show.
