L’un de mes plus vieux souvenirs d’enfance est lié au thé que je buvais avec ma grand-mère l’après-midi à notre maison à Montréal. J’avais environ quatre ans, et elle m’avait offert un service à thé en plastique. Je me souviens que nous sirotions du thé très doux tout en grignotant des tartines de beurre au miel. Plus tard, pour Noël, elle m’a donné un service à thé en porcelaine blanche, orné de dorures et d’images colorées d’aristocrates européens du 17e siècle. Ce cadeau a certainement raffiné ces moments magiques passés avec elle, mais il a aussi probablement ancré mon amour du thé pour la vie.
She had given me a plastic tea set, as I was only about four years old, and I recall we sipped very weak tea and nibbled honey butter sandwiches. Later, for Christmas, she gave me a tea set made of white porcelain, gilded with gold and decorated with coloured images of European aristocrats from the 17th century.
