TOMER CAPONE

From a Small Israeli Town to International Screen Sensation

In this exclusive interview, Tomer Capone shares his inspiring journey to global stardom, the challenges of transitioning to Hollywood, The Boys, and his passion for storytelling.

In the realm of international television and cinema, Tomer Capone has emerged as a compelling and versatile actor. From his gripping performances in Israeli hits like "Fauda" and "When Heroes Fly" to his standout role as 'Frenchie' in Amazon Prime’s acclaimed series "The Boys," Capone has captivated audiences around the globe. His journey from an Israeli soldier to a celebrated actor is as fascinating as it is inspiring. In this exclusive interview, we dive deep into his life, career, and the experiences that have shaped him.

THE SPARK OF PASSION

Q: Your journey from the Israel Defense Forces to becoming an internationally recognized actor is inspiring. What initially sparked your passion for acting, and how did your military experience influence your approach to your craft?

Tomer Capone: That's a beautiful question. I can almost see it like a movie trailer in my mind—how it all started and where I am now, speaking to you in English, which wasn't even a dream ten years ago. My journey has been filled with both sweet and bitter moments, and in terms of your question specifically, my passion for acting came from a place of searching for something beyond the ordinary. Growing up in a small town in Israel, I didn't have much exposure to the arts. My environment was mostly sports and traditional learning. But my grandfather, an amazing man, introduced me to American culture through books, music, and films. He took me to see every new movie that came out. I remember watching "Jurassic Park" and "Edward Scissorhands" with him. Those experiences were mind-blowing. It was like exploring a magical world, and it sparked something in me.

However, pursuing a career in acting seemed far-fetched. After high school, I served as a paratrooper in the Israel Defense Forces. The military was a transformative experience that pushed me to my limits and taught me discipline, resilience, and teamwork. It was like living two lives—one filled with structure and intensity and the other with dreams of a different world.

After my service, I worked with animals and traveled through Thailand and India, exploring different cultures and reading a lot. During

this time, my love for storytelling grew. I was deeply influenced by Bob Dylan and hip-hop music, which helped me learn English. I met an amazing person who is now my agent and mentor. He heard me humming tunes from Willie Nelson to Bob Dylan and suggested I consider acting. He introduced me to plays by Tennessee Williams and Shakespeare, which was revolutionary for me.

At 25, I decided to take a small acting course in Tel Aviv, even though it felt late to start an acting career. I traveled from northern Israel to Tel Aviv once a week, thinking the worst that could happen was I'd make some new friends. But I became obsessed. I watched every episode of "Inside the Actors Studio" and every classic film by Tarantino, Scorsese, Coppola, and others. I learned monologues while working on the ranch, riding my motorcycle, and rehearsing lines. I got into one of the best acting schools in Israel and decided to pursue this dream wholeheartedly.

It wasn't a smooth ride, but my intensity and passion drove me. I auditioned for the best shows in Israel, like "Hostages" and "When Heroes Fly," which came at a time when Netflix was expanding its international content. Being at the right place at the right time led me to where I am today. And that's how I ended up talking to you.

It's been an incredible journey, filled with challenges and serendipitous moments. Every experience, from the military to my travels, shaped my approach to acting, making me a better human being and a more genuine actor.

TRANSITIONING TO INTERNATIONAL STARDOM

Q: Starring in critically acclaimed series like "Fauda" and "When Heroes Fly," you've made a significant impact both in Israel and internationally. What unique challenges have you faced transitioning from Israeli productions to major American series like "The Boys"?

Tomer Capone: Transitioning from Israeli productions to major American series like "The Boys" was both exciting and daunting. There's a significant cultural and industry shift. The scale of production in Hollywood is massive, and the expectations are high.

Initially, 90% of the challenge was dealing with the anxiety of doing a good job and the excitement of being in Hollywood. It's a different world, and I had to manage my own fears. Fear is an interesting energy for an actor. It's important to learn how to dance with it, to embrace it and let it fuel your performance rather than hinder it.

Before "The Boys," I worked on a pilot for NBC with a huge budget, around $50 million. I remember standing there, frightened and excited. When I heard "action," I realized my job starts now, whether it's a $50 million project or a $5 student film. The work remains the same—honest, genuine acting. This realization opened up a lot for me.

The purest, sweetest moments in acting are between "action" and "cut." Everything else is secondary. The big trailers and amenities that come with a large-scale production are fantastic, but at the end of the day, I would have played 'Frenchie' for free because it's about the craft, not the budget.

Regarding "The Boys," the story of how I got the role of Frenchie is quite serendipitous. Eric Kripke, the creator of the show, was struggling to cast Frenchie. One day, he called his mother and mentioned the difficulty. She had just watched "When Heroes Fly" on Netflix and suggested he check out this "very nice boy." That's how he approached me. It's funny because they weren't even thinking about casting a non-French actor. When they visited Israel, Eric shared the story, and I joked that I should sit next to his mom at the premiere.

The transition was challenging but also filled with these serendipitous moments. The fear of whether it would work faded away when I discovered that the real joy is in the craft itself. Trust your craft, stay with it, and don't let fear take over—dance with it.

THE NATALIE PORTMAN EXPERIENCE

Carece: Having been handpicked by Natalie Portman for your first film, "A Tale of Love and Darkness," must have been a profound experience. Can you share how this opportunity shaped your career and what it was like working with her?

Tomer Capone: Working with Natalie Portman was a turning point in my life. At the time, I was struggling with my career, feeling lost and unsure of my path. I was working construction jobs in Tel Aviv, covered in dust and dirt, with no acting gigs in sight. I had just done a couple of teen TV shows in Israel, which I wasn't passionate about, and I was contemplating quitting acting altogether.

Then, one morning, I got a call from my agent saying that Natalie Portman was in Tel Aviv and wanted to meet me that afternoon. I knew she was working on a film based on Amos Oz's book, so I rushed to buy the book and tried to absorb as much as I could. When we met, she immediately put me at ease. She was so downto-earth and genuine. We didn't even talk about the book much; we just talked about life. I told her about my struggles, and she shared her own experiences. It felt like a big sister giving advice to her younger brother.

Meeting her was a beacon of hope. She gave me a nod of encouragement that I desperately needed at that time. Two things from that encounter stayed with me: first, the importance of creating a supportive environment on set, something I've tried to carry forward in my career. Second, I hoped with all my heart that she would cast me in her film.

It turned out to be a small part, but the experience was invaluable. During the shoot, she continued to be kind and supportive, offering advice and sharing her insights. It was also the first time I had my own trailer, a small one, but it felt like a huge milestone for me. While on set, I got a call that I had been cast in "Fauda," which was another major turning point. I remember running out of my trailer, howling with joy.

Working with Natalie reinforced my belief in the importance of passion and perseverance. It taught me that even small opportunities can have a significant impact on your career. Seeing someone as accomplished as Natalie being so down-to-earth made me realize that if she could achieve her dreams, so could I. It was a pivotal moment that reignited my passion for acting and gave me the confidence to keep pushing forward.

NEW HORIZONS WITH "SLINGSHOT"

Carece: With "Slingshot" set for release soon, what can you tell us about your character and the experience of working alongside Hollywood heavyweights like Laurence Fishburne and Casey Affleck?

Tomer Capone: "Slingshot" is an exciting project, and I can't wait for everyone to see it. The film is a sci-fi thriller about three astronauts on a mission to find water on Mars, but things don't go as planned. I play one of the astronauts, and the character goes through a lot of psychological and emotional turmoil as the story unfolds.

Working with Laurence Fishburne and Casey Affleck was surreal. These are actors I've admired for years, and to share the screen with them was a dream come true. Both Laurence and Casey are incredibly talented and generous. They brought so much depth and professionalism to the set, which created a dynamic and intense environment. We spent long hours filming in a spaceship set, and it often felt like we were in a mental institution in space due to the intense psychological dynamics of our characters.

Laurence Fishburne is a legend, and working with him was like attending a masterclass in acting every day. He has a presence and gravitas that is unmatched, and he was very open and collaborative. Casey Affleck, on the other hand, has this incredible ability to bring subtlety and nuance to his performances. Watching him work was inspiring, and it pushed me to elevate my own acting.

One of the most memorable aspects of filming "Slingshot" was the camaraderie we developed on set. Despite the challenging material, there was a sense of mutual respect and a desire to make the best film possible. It was like being in a rock and roll band, with everyone bringing their unique talents to the table and creating something special together.

Overall, "Slingshot" was an incredible experience, and I am excited for audiences to see the final product. It’s going to be interesting and different from anything I've done before, and I hope it resonates with viewers as much as it did with us while making it.

ADVICE FOR ASPIRING ACTORS

Carece: As an Oscar (Ophir) Award-winner in Israel, what advice would you give to young aspiring actors who dream of making it big both in their home countries and on the international stage?

Tomer Capone: My advice to young aspiring actors is to cherish your dream and keep it close to your heart. It's easy to get disheartened by rejection and the challenges of the industry. Bob Dylan once said, "Fate was looking straight at me, and no one else. At least that's how it felt." This resonates with me deeply. Believe in yourself and your vision, but don’t shout it from the rooftops. Nurture it privately and let it grow.

It's important to stay true to your craft. Trust in your abilities and the work you’ve put in. Fear is an inevitable part of the journey, but it’s crucial to learn how to dance with it rather than let it overpower you. Fear can be a funny energy—it can either hold you back or propel you forward. Embrace it and let it fuel your performances.

Remember, there's nothing more complicated than being simple. Acting is about honesty and connection. Whether you're on a big-budget film set or a small indie project, your job is to deliver a genuine performance. The same principles apply regardless of the scale of the production.

One piece of advice I carry with me comes from reading Bob Dylan’s autobiography. He talked about the fragility of dreams and how they are best nurtured quietly and privately. There’s a purity in keeping your dreams close and not seeking validation from others. This helps you stay focused and true to your path.

So, to all aspiring actors out there: believe in your dreams, keep them close, and let your passion drive you. The journey is filled with ups and downs, but if you stay true to your craft and embrace the challenges, you will find your way.

LOOKING AHEAD

Carece: Looking ahead, what are your plans for the future? Are there any new initiatives or projects you are particularly excited about, and is there a dream role or genre you are eager to explore next?

Tomer Capone: The future is full of possibilities, and I'm incredibly excited about several upcoming projects. Currently, I’m shooting a romantic comedy in Hebrew in Israel, which is a refreshing change from my usual roles. This project involves a lot of dancing and singing, something I’ve never done before on screen. Given the dark times we’re living through, I wanted to do something lighthearted that could bring joy to people. It’s my way of giving back and providing a bit of escapism and happiness.

As for dream roles, I’m always open to new challenges and genres. The important thing is to keep evolving and finding new ways to tell stories that resonate with audiences.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Carece: This has been such a delightful conversation. Is there anything you would like to add?

Tomer Capone: Thank you for this opportunity to reflect on and share my journey. I hope my story can inspire others. And to everyone, especially in these challenging times, let’s strive for peace and understanding. Stay hopeful and keep dreaming.

In the world of glitz and glamour, Tomer Capone stands out not just for his talent but for his genuine, heartfelt approach to life and art. His journey is a testament to the power of resilience, passion, and the unwavering belief in one’s dreams. As he continues to captivate audiences around the world, we look forward to many more stories he has yet to tell.

BREAKING BOUNDARIES IN HEALTH AND EDUCATION

An Insightful Conversation with Leila Centner

Carece Slaughter: Leila, can you take us through the journey that led you from finance to founding Centner Academy and now Centner Wellness? What pivotal moment inspired you to transition from the financial sector to the wellness and education sectors?

Leila Centner: My journey began with my undergraduate studies in accounting at USC, where I developed a passion for numbers and eventually became a CPA. After achieving my dream of becoming one of the youngest CFOs at a billion-dollar company, I faced a turning point during the 2008 financial crisis, which led me to start my own virtual accounting firm. My personal life also influenced this transition, as I moved from California to New York to be with my husband.

However, the true catalyst for shifting to education and wellness came when we were searching for schools for our daughter in New York. The options available were so disheartening that it brought me to tears; none met our standards for a holistic educational environment that prioritized the well-being and happiness of students.

This frustration sparked the idea to create our own school — one that would offer a nurturing, holistic approach to education, which was the inception of Centner Academy.

As we embarked on this educational venture, my personal health struggles with Lyme disease, mold exposure, and related complications deepened my commitment to wellness. These challenges underscored the lack of integrated health solutions that approached the body holistically. It led me to establish Centner Wellness, aiming to empower others by merging modern biohacking techniques with ancient holistic practices to address health comprehensively. This experience transformed my entrepreneurial journey into a mission to enhance education and health, impacting not just my family but the community at large.

Carece: You've shared that a deeply personal health journey led to the creation of Centner Wellness. Can you elaborate on how your experiences with mold, parasites, and Lyme disease influenced the therapies and treatments offered at your wellness center?

Leila: My personal health struggles profoundly shaped the therapies and treatments we offer at Centner Wellness. Living unknowingly with these conditions led me to experience severe symptoms that were initially misdiagnosed as allergies or other common ailments. This experience taught me the importance of identifying the root causes rather than treating symptoms superficially.

When we finally diagnosed the true causes of our health issues through comprehensive testing, it opened my eyes to the gaps in traditional healthcare diagnostics. This led to the incorporation of advanced diagnostic tools at our wellness center, emphasizing thorough testing like mold urine tests and comprehensive stool analysis, which can detect hidden health issues like yeast overgrowth or parasites.

At Centner Wellness, we advocate for a proactive approach to health, empowering our clients to understand their bodies better and encouraging them to seek deeper answers. We provide them with the knowledge and tools to take control of their health, integrating cutting-edge biohacking techniques and traditional healing methods to address these often overlooked conditions. This dual approach ensures our clients are not just treating symptoms but are making informed decisions about their health based on a comprehensive understanding and clear diagnostic results.

Carece: As an entrepreneur in the ever evolving world of health and wellness, what have been some of the most significant challenges you've faced in establishing Centner Wellness, and how did you overcome them?

Leila: Establishing Centner Wellness brought significant challenges, particularly in bridging the gap between financial accessibility and holistic health solutions. Realizing many couldn't afford the health journey I underwent, I was motivated to create a center that offered scalable solutions. We provide simple, effective health practices that people can start at home, like adopting a clean diet and using affordable tools like infrared saunas or coffee enamas at home to aid detoxification. This approach not only helps those who can visit our centers but extends our reach to those who cannot.

Carece: Your approach at Centner Wellness blends ancient holistic practices with modern biohacking techniques. What drove your passion for this unique combination, and how do you ensure it resonates with and benefits your clientele?

Leila: My passion for blending ancient holistic practices with modern biohacking techniques stems from my personal health journey and the gaps I identified in traditional health education. Initially, I had little understanding of complex wellness concepts like Rife frequencies or lymphatic drainage and realized that if these concepts were new to me, they would likely be unfamiliar to others as well. This insight drove the educational focus at our wellness center, ensuring that we not only provide healing technologies but also educate our clients about how these technologies aid in detoxification and strengthen the immune system.

We view the body as a remarkable system capable of self-healing, often requiring just a nudge to facilitate its natural processes. Our approach at Centner Wellness involves using biohacking to provide this nudge, whether it's through clearing lymphatic blockages, removing bodily toxins like metals or mold, or enhancing overall cellular health. This not only helps our clients' bodies return to their optimal state but also empowers them with the knowledge to maintain and enhance their health independently.

To ensure this approach resonates with our clientele, we focus on clear communication and education, making the science behind our practices accessible and understandable. This approach helps demystify the healing process, enabling clients to actively participate in their health journey and recognize our center as a place where advanced healing and education converge for their benefit.

Carece: As a female leader, how do you empower other women within your organization and in the broader community to take charge of their health and well-being?

Leila: I prioritize empowering women within my organization and the broader community by providing accessible health resources and educational support. At Centner Academy

and Centner Wellness, all employees, including teachers and administrative staff, have free access to our wellness facilities and medical consultations. We offer these without any markup on services or products, like supplements and health protocols, which are often financially out of reach for many.

For instance, our wellness initiatives have led to transformative health outcomes for our staff; teachers who previously faced chronic illnesses report significant improvements, and some have even reversed conditions that frequently kept them unwell. By making these resources affordable and accessible, we not only help improve their health but also set a powerful example for the children they teach, emphasizing the importance of well-being and proactive health management.

This approach also extends to our educational programs, where we emphasize the importance of holistic health practices. By witnessing the positive changes in their colleagues, our staff members become advocates for health themselves, encouraging a culture of wellness that impacts the entire community. This not only fosters a supportive work environment but also propels our mission to promote sustainable health practices among future generations.

Carece: With Centner Wellness's rapid expansion and success, what are your longterm goals for the facility, and how do you see it evolving in the wellness and biohacking industry?

Leila: Our long-term goals for Centner Wellness are deeply intertwined with our broader vision of impacting the education, wellness, and food sectors. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognized the opportunity to integrate these areas more cohesively, starting with our Regener8 Farm. This farm operates on principles of zero chemical use and supports a farm-to-table model that provides our school with fresh, organic produce, including eggs from free-range chickens that feed on organic compost.

Looking ahead, we plan to expand this concept into a series of Regener8 Farm cafes, with the first launching at Aria at the Bay. These cafes will serve dishes directly sourced from our

farms, coupled with wellness centers to create holistic spaces where community members can nourish both body and mind. Our aim is not just to serve food but to educate and empower individuals about the benefits of sustainable farming and nutritional diets.

This integration exemplifies our commitment to fostering a healthier community by making holistic wellness and education accessible. We want to leave a legacy that transcends traditional wellness models, making a tangible impact on how people approach health, education, and sustainability in their daily lives. By nurturing the body with clean food, educating the mind, and caring for the community, we hope to elevate humanity's overall well-being and resilience.

Carece: As we wrap up our conversation, can you tell us more about the two Centner Wellness locations? What is unique about each of them?

Leila: As we consider Centner Wellness's development and expansion, it's important to understand the distinct characteristics and visions of our two existing locations and our plans for future expansion.

At our Brickell location, we have what I like to call a "mega biohacking facility." This center is outfitted with a wide array of advanced technology that supports a wide range of biohacking strategies. It's designed for those who are deeply invested in exploring the cutting edge of wellness technology, offering everything from advanced body scanning to genetic optimization. It’s truly a Candyland of technology for wellness enthusiasts.

In contrast, our Edgewater location is a more intimate setting, which we call our "mini center." This site focuses primarily on colonics, bodywork, massage, and facials. It’s designed to serve as a community wellness hub, providing essential wellness services that are accessible and affordable. This center focuses on maintaining digestive health and enhancing well-being through more traditional wellness practices. Looking forward, we're also planning to introduce more of these mini centers, such as the upcoming one at Aria at the Bay. These will be about 5,000 square feet each and will focus heavily on detox services like colonics, infrared and hydrogen baths, and IV therapies. These centers will be community-oriented, offering lower cost services and memberships to make wellness more accessible to a broader audience. Additionally, we are excited about a new venture—a retreat center on our farm. This will be a place where adults can participate in summer camps focusing on soul-level work, incorporating the cleanest, healthiest food, breathwork, and meditation. It’s all about creating a space to rejuvenate and learn wellness practices that participants can take back to their daily lives and share with others.

Each of these centers embodies our commitment to making holistic wellness available across different community sectors, ensuring that everyone can find a path to health that resonates with their needs and lifestyle.

East

End Taste and the Hamptons Interactive Brunch

Join me as we discover Vanessa Gordon’s story, from launching East End Taste Magazine to creating the Hamptons Interactive Brunch, a unique event that celebrates luxury and, this year, supports teen suicide prevention.

Vanessa, you’ve become synonymous with the Hamptons lifestyle and luxury experiences. Can you share the journey that led you to become the founder of East End Taste Magazine and the host of the prestigious Hamptons Interactive Brunch?

My journey began with a labor of love and dedication to the community where I grew up. I remember when the idea for East End Taste first came to me - it started as a passion project to keep my creativity flowing while my daughter was a toddler. I enjoyed that East End Taste allowed me to go out, network, and connect with others in my industry. I quickly built a strong network of leaders and those who were also passionate about their businesses and industries. I loved being around such passionate and hardworking individuals - and that's how the

concept for the Hamptons Interactive Brunch came to be.

I felt like I was spending too much time working at the computer. Although I didn't have much experience in the corporate world, except for some internships in editing and production before I started teaching ESL (which was my career before my daughter was born), I wanted to create an annual networking event. My goal was to bring together like-minded individuals for an afternoon of fun and giving back to local non-profits. In the spring of 2018, I came up with the idea for the Hamptons Interactive Brunch - a daytime event with interactive activities featuring brands and businesses I admire. Most of these brands are based in New York and Long Island!

This year, we celebrate the 5th Annual Hamptons Interactive Brunch. How has this exceptional event evolved over the years, and what distinctive features can attendees anticipate at this year’s gathering?

I am incredibly proud of how the Brunch has evolved over the years. I am certain that the 5th annual event will be a great cause for celebration. What I love most is that when people hear about the event, they show a lot of enthusiasm and are always eager to help spread the excitement to those around them, creating a very organic and curated ripple effect.

This year, we are expecting a record number of attendees. The event will feature a walkthrough style experience with activities in the beauty and wellness space, plenty of food and drinks, shopping, and much more. I enjoy surprising my guests, and there will certainly be plenty of new and unique experiences throughout the event, which will run from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The cause championed by the brunch, Francesco’s Foundation, is dedicated to a deeply sensitive and critical issue – teen suicide prevention. What motivated you to align with this specific cause and incorporate it into your event?

The founders, Jennifer and Diana, are dear friends of mine, and I applaud them for what they have accomplished so far. They are actively lobbying to pass Francesco’s Law, which will focus on firearm safety measures for households with minors.

Like many of us, I have experienced the loss of someone close to me due to suicide. Two of my classmates from high school committed suicide, and their names have never left my mind. I am completely supportive of anything I can do to advocate for this sensitive yet crucial cause!

Given your extensive experience in the luxury lifestyle sector, how do you curate the experiences, brands, and personalities that come together at the Hamptons Interactive Brunch, ensuring they resonate with both the Hamptons' essence and the event's philanthropic goal?

I personally hand-select each brand and business along with my production team. We receive a tremendous amount of interest from various businesses, but we carefully consider who will be attending and the kind of experience we want to offer our guests. We also focus on creating lasting memories at the brunch that will encourage attendees to share their experiences on social media or through word of mouth. Many of the business owners are personal friends of mine with whom I've developed close relationships over the years. These are brands that I am passionate about and that I want others to discover and appreciate as I have.

When it comes to creating the silent auction, I strive to include experiences and items that are unique and hard to come by. I ensure that they are something I would want to bid on myself, in support of our beneficiary, Francesco’s Foundation. I want people to be impressed and excited by the offerings and eager to win them, saying, “Wow, I’ve never seen this or heard of this before. I really want to win this!”

Looking towards the future, how do you envision the growth or transformation of the Hamptons Interactive Brunch, and are there any aspirations or goals you aim to achieve with this event in the coming years?

I find it really interesting how every year, the Brunch introduces something new and special, adding a different flair and extra elements to make the event stand out. I'd like to organize more events in Manhattan and even consider holding an event in a different part of the country. I believe in gradual, natural growth and I'm already planning for next year and ways to expand. The most important thing for me is the feedback I receive from guests each year — they often express how much they enjoyed the event, reconnecting with past attendees and meeting new ones, and they can't stop talking about the gift bag from last year!

Additional information from Francesco's Foundation Founder, Diana Cochran:

Francesco’s Law, set to replace New York State’s current inadequate gun storage legislation, is set to be introduced in Albany in the coming months, sponsored by Assemblyman Anderson’s office. If passed, the law will classify it as a felony to grant a minor access to a firearm, punishable by a maximum prison sentence of 15 years. This law aims to serve as a strong deterrent, safeguarding the 4.2 million children in the US who currently have unrestricted access to firearms and ammunition. With guns being the leading cause of death among children and teens, with 32% of those deaths being attributed to suicide resulting from parental or relative negligence, and over 70% of school mass shootings occurring due to minors obtaining unsecured guns, the implementation of this law is critical for saving lives. It’s evident that had Francesco’s Law been in effect in 2021, it could have saved Francesco’s life.

Interview with KIEREN JAMES LUBIN

Upgrading

Capitalism Through Tokenization of Precious Metals

Kieren James-Lubin is the president and CEO of BlockApps, a Web3 real-world asset (RWA) tokenization firm. He is an early pioneer in the blockchain space, and helped to launch Ethereum, Blockchain-as-a-Service and the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance. He was a PhD Candidate in Mathematical Physics at UC Berkeley, and completed his undergrad at Princeton.

Tell us a little about your role in the development of Ethereum and why you founded BlockApps, a real-world asset tokenization service.

While I was doing my Ph.D., I began working with the Ethereum foundation as the head of the Cryptocurrency Research Group, and honestly, it was so fascinating that it kind of hijacked my attention from my studies. I just couldn't shake off how big of a deal it could be, and how much impact it could have on the real world.

So, in 2015, I decided to jump in with both feet and started BlockApps. My vision was to bridge the real world and blockchain, and at that time, the best way to do that was working with large organizations, such as Fortune 500 companies and governments.

Over time, I’ve seen that the fastest way to bring on the most people to blockchain is by allowing consumers to buy rare and valuable real-world assets through tokenization. It's honestly one of the most thrilling aspects of blockchain, but it's still kind of a new frontier in the market.

Tell us about the Strato Mercata Marketplace and why BlockApps decided to offer tokenized silver. It is an interesting pivot from previous enterprise-level offerings to huge brand names like Microsoft, Google, Bayer, etc.

The market is clearly in favor of precious metals, as a hedge against inflation and monetary policies. Demand for gold and silver has increased dramatically. We previously offered collectibles including branded shoes, so we do aim to cater to retail customers as well. We have three major tokenization marketplaces, in relation to carbon, metals, and collectibles.

These are three trends that modern customers are looking for, so we cater to them. It’s not really a pivot, we offer both retail and enterpriselevel solutions, but we’re focusing on tokenized sliver at the present time due to the market situation. People want silver, and having it in a tokenized format is much easier in comparison to storing it physically. It can be bought and sold with far more ease.

What exactly is ‘carbon neutral silver’?

Why would anyone invest in it?

It’s silver with an improved environmental footprint. So those who care about the environment can make a difference through conscious purchases, though it is $1 more expensive than our regular tokenized offerings.

It uses tokenized carbon credits to offset 67 kg of carbon per troy ounce of silver, through investment in multiple green initiatives. Basically, when you purchase Merkata’s carbonneutral silver, you are supporting solar, wind, biomass, hydro, and other projects across the globe.

Many regard crypto as new and volatile, risky assets to invest in. Precious metals have been here for a while and are a more stable, predictable investment. Tell us more about how and why you combine the two? Where does a resurgence in interest in precious metals come from?

Well, even mainstream outlets and institutions

are now pretty much onboarded with Web3 and cryptocurrencies. The traditional narratives about cryptocurrencies being useless have mainly died off, though volatility cannot be denied.

If you think about it, this is the perfect combination. Metals are stable but hard to trade. Tokens are highly liquid but volatile. Securely stored metals with a digital representation for easy payments is the perfect combination.

The resurgence in interest comes from a clear lack of trust in the existing financial markets and a volatile global environment.

What does this mean for people around the world in terms of their everyday spending and payments?

Well, we’re definitely seeing more people looking to spend tokenized silver in retail outlets, often with an associated debit card. In the near future, a debit card might not even be required, with terminals that are compatible with Web3 wallets.

These wallets will contain tokens linked to realworld assets - effectively, world citizens will be able to spend real estate portfolios, stocks, precious metals, and much more. It’s a completely new lifestyle paradigm.

How does BlockApps upgrade capitalism, as it claims, and fix the broken financial markets?

RWA enables the tokenization of assets. This is huge because, in the traditional financial markets, retail customers had no access to many projects due to high entry prices. With RWA, this is no longer the case.

Assets can be bought and sold much more easily. So it also means that an existing asset like a house can be tokenized and sold more readily by a lower-income family, with far fewer legal fees and red tape.

We are ahead of the curve as the oldest Web3 RWA firm on the market, with the best big brand connections. Upgrading capitalism is not a simple step. It needs to be broken up into a thousand pieces and redistributed through Web3 initiatives, day by day. But we’re getting there.

How can our readers support you and become part of your journey?

It’s more of a collaboration than supporting my journey. The quicker that people start to use tokenized products and eco-friendly designs, the quicker the upgrade to a greener and fairer world. Online business owners can take advantage of the many Web3 tools we offer (privacy, governance, APIs, analytics, data modeling, identity management, etc).

Those looking to invest in silver or collectibles can check out the marketplace. There is no reason to purchase physical silver when it is available in tokenized format through our platform. You get all the benefits of both physical and digital assets, linked together through a secure and regulated ecosystem.

You can buy carbon-neutral silver from BlockApps today, using MetaMask, ACH, or card payments.

A Culinary Journey Through Time

LE COLONIAL'S EXQUISITE EXPANSION

Nestled in Delray Beach's vibrant beachfront town square, Le Colonial is more than just a restaurant—it's an experience that whisks you away to an era of old-world French glamour and vivid flavors. From its inception in New York in 1993 to its recent openings in Delray Beach and Naples, Le Colonial has captivated diners with its unique blend of Vietnamese cuisine and French colonial charm. In a recent interview with Resident Magazine, Rick, the founder of Le Colonial, shared insights into the restaurant's journey, evolution, and future plans.

A Vision Born in New York

Le Colonial's story began on 57th Street in New York City. Rick, who had a rich background in the restaurant industry, envisioned a dining experience that transcended the typical French and Italian offerings of the time. Inspired by his tenure at upscale Vietnamese restaurants and the distinct charm of Indochinese aesthetics, he set out to create an atmosphere that transported diners to a different place and time.

"The idea was to create an atmosphere around the cuisine that was slightly different than the French Italian, which was quite good," Rick recalled. "It was to be able to really create an atmosphere around the cuisine that was slightly different than the French Italian, which was quite good."

Expanding Horizons

Rick's vision for Le Colonial was always ambitious. Partnering with his friend John Ninoy, they opened the first Le Colonial with the hope of expanding beyond New York. Their strategy paid off as they successfully launched additional locations in cities like Chicago and Houston, each time refining and evolving the concept to suit local tastes while maintaining the core essence of Le Colonial.

"We brought more light into the buildings, added more vibrant colors, and made each location unique to its market," Rick explained. "It's about keeping 60-70% of the original intent and changing the rest to fit the new environment."

Le Colonial's menu has also seen significant evolution. Originally sticking closely to traditional Vietnamese cuisine, the menu now includes influences from Cambodian and Malaysian cuisines to offer a more diverse and exciting dining experience. This flexibility has allowed the restaurant to introduce new dishes while keeping beloved classics.

Rick attributes much of this culinary innovation to the collaboration between their culinary director, Nicole Routhier, and national director, Hassan Obaye. "Nicole kept the Vietnamese authenticity while Hassan brought in more progressive elements," Rick said. "The marriage of their styles has created a menu that is more exciting than ever."

A Design to Remember

Le Colonial's design is an integral part of its charm. The original design in New York, crafted by the late Greg Jordan, drew inspiration from the French Quarter in New Orleans. Over the years, the design has been adapted and enhanced by other talented designers, including Mark Knauer in Chicago, to keep the aesthetic fresh and engaging.

"It's a team effort," Rick emphasized. "Every restaurant we do is a collaboration of designers, architects, and artists. We put a lot of effort into capturing the right look and feel."

Looking Ahead

Le Colonial's future looks bright with plans to expand into new markets like Cherry Creek in Denver and Scottsdale in Paradise Valley. Rick is excited about the opportunities these new locations present, particularly in less expected markets that still appreciate high-quality dining experiences.

"We aim to have about 15 restaurants within the next five years," Rick revealed. "But it's not just about growing for the sake of it. We want to enter markets where we can make a real difference and contribute to the community."

A Local Favorite

Le Colonial's Delray Beach location has already become a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike. As Rick and his team prepare for their first full high season in Florida, they are excited to bring their unique blend of culinary excellence and elegant design to a broader audience. For those who have followed Le Colonial since its early days, the restaurant's evolution is a testament to the enduring appeal of its concept. From the classic banana leaf-wrapped fish to the innovative new dishes inspired by Southeast Asian flavors, Le Colonial continues to offer a dining experience that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking.

Le Colonial's journey from New York to Delray Beach and beyond is a story of vision, innovation, and a deep love for culinary arts. As the restaurant continues to expand and evolve, it remains committed to providing an unforgettable dining experience that transports guests to a different time and place. Whether you're a long-time fan or a first-time visitor, Le Colonial promises a meal that delights the senses and warms the soul.

DAN PARKER AND SARAH PATTON

Lead Compass Development Marketing Group to New Heights

It’s been over one year since Sarah Patton and Dan Parker took the reins of the New York market for Compass Development Marketing Group (CDMG), the national brokerage’s A-list team strategically focused on new residential development projects. With Patton and Parker at the helm, the team has experienced immense success, garnering over $1.3B in sales and having brought to market and sold over 355 luxury homes throughout the tristate area.

While CDMG’s expertise spans Brooklyn and Manhattan, they’ve had a strong focus on the Upper East Side. Partnering with top Compass agent Alexa Lambert, they’ve helped bring pioneering projects to market such as The Benson, 200 East 83rd Street, The Bellemont and 150 East 78th Street, all of which achieved full sell-outs and record breaking prices, including a milestone $68 million sale at The Bellemont on Madison Avenue.

As the real estate market has continued to recalibrate following the pandemic as well as the recent rise of mortgage rates, Patton and Parker have been busy buzzing behind the scenes to help developers across the city prepare coveted new buildings to come to market.

"We're there from the moment a developer eyes a piece of land, helping shape the vision for the building,” explained Dan Parker. “We meticulously craft the unit mix, introduce developers to top-notch design partners and pour our hearts into perfecting the floor plans. It's the attention to detail in those plans that I believe truly sets us apart."

“The New York market is at a really interesting moment,” furthered Sarah Patton. “Many of the most desirable buildings are sold out, which has helped older projects that were lagging to transact. Because of this, our primary focus has been on our pipeline and, as Dan said, working with developers to prepare for the fall launch season, which is looking to be quite busy as buyers continue to adjust to this ‘new normal’ of rates and purchasing a home in today’s economic climate.”

With such a strong pulse on the New York City real estate market, Resident Magazine naturally had to ask what Patton and Parker are seeing in terms of market trends.

According to Parker the demand for larger apartments in the best residential neighborhoods – think four-bedrooms plus on the Upper East or Upper West Side – continues to grow, with buyers clamoring for more space.

Premier amenities are still a crucial factor in buildings today, as residents want to have everything they need at their fingertips and within the building. More surprisingly though, explained Patton, is that in addition to flashy amenities like a hyperbaric oxygen chamber or infrared sauna, they’re seeing a priority placed on conveniences, like on-site parking and electric vehicle charging stations.

In the luxury rental space, office-to-residential conversions continue to be an exciting topic, while renters' demand for excellent quality is leading to higher caliber buildings with finishes and amenities on par with their for-sale counterparts.

When asked about what differentiates CDMG from its numerous competitors, both elaborated on the collaborative nature of the team and staunch commitment to projects, from their infancy through sellout and completion.

Self-described ‘custodial stewards’, CDMG has carved out a unique space in the industry. By leveraging Compass’s significant investment in technology and agent tools with robust industry experience, Sarah and Dan have brought CDMG to market dominance in many of the city’s most important neighborhoods.

THE FUTURE OF SKINCARE Embracing Chebula for Timeless Skin

Unveiling the next wave in beauty: How Chebula's breakthrough antiaging properties are shaping a sustainable, effective future for skincare.

The skincare industry is driven by a blend of nature’s wisdom and the cutting edge of scientific research. As we venture into this new era, the emphasis on personalization, technological advancements, and, notably, the resurgence of natural ingredients marks a promising shift towards more holistic and inclusive skincare solutions.

The skincare industry is growing steadily due to shifting beauty standards, consumer awareness, and a stronger emphasis on wellness. Personalized solutions, sustainability, and innovation impact the skincare product market,” opines Sabyasachi Ghosh, Associate Vice President at Future Market Insights (FMI).

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is playing a pivotal role. It's revolutionizing the way brands approach product development and customer engagement, offering personalized skincare routines tailored to individual needs and preferences based on skin tone, skin type, and consumer sentiment that echoes an unfortunate history of an industry wrought with unfulfilled promises. This move towards customization is complemented by the emergence of sophisticated diagnostic tools, providing a skincare experience once imagined only in the realm of science fiction. This blend of technologically as well as nature’s insights and ingredients is highlighted in the latest release from True

Botanicals' Chebula Active Serum. Harnessing the power of Chebula, an Ayurvedic fruit celebrated for its potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. This serum is a testament to the effectiveness of nature-integrated science, demonstrating remarkable efficacy in reducing wrinkles and evening out skin tone.

The Chebula Active Serum's success underscores a broader movement towards products that not only promise but deliver, through ethically sourced, potent natural ingredients.

The emergence of ingredients like exosomes and snow mushrooms points towards a future where skincare products not only protect and repair but also deeply nourish the skin. This approach reinforces the skin's natural defenses against aging and environmental stressors, moving beyond superficial treatments to address the root causes of skin concerns.

The skincare industry's trajectory is clear: a journey towards sustainability, inclusivity, and

wellness. It's about nurturing beauty from within, guided by a commitment to leveraging nature's gifts alongside scientific breakthroughs. True Botanicals is an excellent example of this journey, embodying the fusion of nature's richness with scientific innovation, setting a course for the future of skincare that promises not just to enhance beauty but to elevate it in the most natural and effective way possible.

THE SUMMER FASHION SUMMIT

A New Initiative

20 Years of Swim Week and a New Summit Designed to Educate and Inspire.

Last year's Summer Fashion Summit. Photo: PARAISO Fashion Week

PARAISO Miami Beach, the arbiter of Miami swimwear style widely known as Miami Swim Week, will be celebrating its 20th anniversary May 30 - June 2, 2024. Combined with Miami's buzz and beachy vibes, PARAISO has become the premier marketing event for swimwear and resort wear that gets larger and more popular each year. The unique event showcases some of the hottest brands through creatively curated fashion, beauty & wellness experiences, trade shows, and myriad ancillary programs -- all in a gorgeous setting.

For the second year, PARAISO will host a Summer Fashion Summit during Swim Week, in collaboration with SwimShow, at the Miami Beach Convention Center, The Summit will bring together industry leaders in the swimwear and fashion space for a fun and informative networking conference. I chatted with PARAISO Co-Founder Natalija Dedic Sto-

janovic who also serves as the creative director, about PARAISO's landmark year and gained insight into the Summit.

DG: Natalija, it's great to speak with you and to spotlight PARAISO's Summer Fashion Summit - Why did you feel it was important to create this Summit in addition to all the other events you have happening at Miami Swim Week.

NDS: This year we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of Miami Swim week. I just can't believe it flew by so fast, here we are 20 years later with an industry that grew exponentially from when we started in 2004. I remember the designers were only showing through showrooms because the companies were so small, they couldn't support individual shows. And now the swimwear industry is taking a big part of the overall fashion industry and for a long

PARAISO Co-Founder Natalija Dedic Stojanovic

time it was the fastest growing segment within the fashion industry. It's not anymore, now it’s accessories but we do have a lot of accessories throughout trade shows and events. We definitely see the accessory segment as being a big part of the event as well. So, the reason why I started Summer Fashion Summit is because I felt that the educational component was missing.

The whole event is really a Fashion Week that is focused on the swimwear industry, and throughout the years, because it's here in Miami, and all the founders were very young it just developed a little bit differently than a traditional Fashion Week, if that makes sense. So, there is a lot of music, a lot of parties, and a lot of poolside cocktails! So, all the collections are presented in a little bit more fun casual summery way.

But now, the industry is so big and we became that entry point for all the global swimwear brands to break into the U.S market. I kind of felt that the educational component was missing. Where is that Summit? Where do all these brands and buyers gather, where they can talk about where the market is going, what are these new trends? What are the steps to break into the U.S market? How to set up a really strong wholesale foundation for your brand -- all of that was missing! What I was seeing throughout the years is one conversation here and there about inclusivity about the importance of community and social, but it was not focused on the business of the industry.

So last year, we said, okay, let's dedicate two days - two discussions, really bring in WGSN, bring Trendalytics, which are trend forecasting platforms and have them do presentations, just give an opportunity to up-and-coming brands or maybe those that are established but are trying to find a way in this new market flow to learn how to operate. Have them join a summit that will make a difference for them for the future and for their business.

The first Summit was really successful, we held it at W South Beach. We kind of learned from it and we thought that this year it would be great to partner up with one of the trade shows and we partnered with SwimShow which has been operating for over 40 years and they really did start the whole swimwear thing here in Mi

ami. We will be holding the Summit on their trade show floor in a specially selected area that will be easily accessible to all the participants.

DG: I read about some of the very timely and topical subjects being tackled at the Summit, you mentioned trend forecasting, also, there's a topic on staying relevant in a saturated market, tell readers more about what the Summit will offer and what guests can look forward to.

NDS: There are a variety of panel discussions, and the goal is really to pick the topics that will give guests an insight and some learning that they can take home when they leave the Summit. So, again the topics are focused on wholesale, on marketing, on how to excel within a saturated market. The swimwear industry is very saturated. There is only a certain number of ways you can construct that swimsuit, right? So, it's really hard to stand out.

So, one of the panelists I chose for the topic ‘How To Stay Relevant in a Saturated Market’,

is a Nigerian actress Somkele who is the cofounder of Andrea Iyamah a Nigerian brand that broke into the U.S. swimwear market, and the whole U.S. market by having an extremely quality product that stands out, and we want to hear from people like that, we want to hear about her journey. How did she break into the U.S. market considering she is a brand in Nigeria.

Then we have a senior swimwear buyer at Anthropologie, Ivy Heilman who will also talk about how brands stand out to her when she goes to a trade show and sees hundreds of swimwear brands and how she will pick those she will order a collection from. And we have brand strategists talking about the importance of branding. And so just within those panel discussions, we try to pick the leaders within the industry that will provide attendees with knowledge that they can take home. We also always have Q and A's after so they are able to ask any questions that pertain to their current brands or brands they’re trying to start. There is a networking component to the event as well.

DG: And another great component is that although many PARAISO events are exclusively for industry insiders, this Summit is open to the public. It's clearly ideal for people looking to start a brand, students - who else would the Summit be for?

NDS: I think the Summit is not only for the brands that are looking to start. We see a wellrounded group mixed with academics, professors who want to come and hear about these designers and hear new trends; also, we do see a lot of students from fashion universities that are eager to learn. They are like sponges. We see young designers that maybe finished school and are looking to start a brand. We see a lot of designers that already have their own brands and are trying to grow those brands. We also see a lot of people from marketing agencies, people that are on the designer teams. So, I would say there is a wide range of people that attend the Summit. But it is definitely focused on the swimwear and resort wear industry. There are a lot of fashion summits around the world but none of them are really focused on

Standing Out on PARAISO Runway

the swimwear industry. We’re really trying to get the industry together and share those new trends, as far as marketing and E-Commerce and wholesale.

DG: And another great component is that although many PARAISO events are exclusively for industry insiders, this Summit is open to the public. It's clearly ideal for people looking to start a brand, students - who else would the Summit be for?

DG: Sustainability is another area that will be covered, correct?

NDS: Exactly. We're all trying to be more focused on sustainability in our everyday living and in fashion. That is a responsibility that all of us in the fashion industry carry because it is the second biggest polluter in the world. All these brands really try to give back and to have a certain angle on sustainability, whether it’s using fabric that is made out of recycled bottles or planting trees or having a take-back program. So, there are different ways that brands can take a step forward and really try to be more eco-conscious in their manufacturing processes, and with their brands.

DG As you mentioned PARAISO Swim Week has really grown and flourished in the 20 years since you started it. Can you tell

us a little about your background prior to PARAISO?

NDS: Yes, of course, I come from Serbia, formerly Yugoslavia, and I was a TV host for over seven years on national television in Serbia and I was focused on fashion. And when I moved here to the United States for love, I was given a second opportunity to really kind of choose something that I also love. At the time my husband was involved in a different bi-annual Fashion Week event in Miami, and with time I took over that event - I rebranded everything and focused on the swimwear industry. So that's how I started but my background does come from being a journalist. So that's kind of always with me in my heart. I love journalism.

DG: And another thing that I love about PARAISO Miami Beach is that in addition to all the fashion, there's a philanthropic angle. What are some of the causes PARAISO is partnering with this year?

NDS: Every year we partner up with Style Saves which is an organization that gives back to students in need, and we select a certain

number of seats at our shows that get auctioned off and all the proceeds go back to Style Saves. We also partner with Fashion for Good, Link please which is another philanthropic agency that also gives back. It is a group of Miamibased influencers that kind of get together once a year and they gather their closets and they do a big sale and all the profits go to charities of their choice. We also partner with Coral City which is focused on preservation of corals in Miami. They were recently given a big grant by the city of Miami for replanting corals. Any non-profit that is focused on the preservation of the ocean or corals in any way is very dear to us and we love to support them.

DG: You referenced the Nigerian brand that you'll spotlight at the Summit. And what I also learned about PARAISO is it was one of the first to showcase diversity on the runway featuring swimwear models of all shapes, sizes, colors. Can you talk about that aspect? I'm sure things were a lot different 20 years ago.

NDS: Yes, things were very different 20 years ago. Well, it's just so natural, right? When you go to the beach and you see women - all of usin swimsuits, we all have different body shapes and we all come from different places, different origins. I just thought that it's very important to present that on the runway as well. So, it does not feel like what it was 20 years ago when the models were size zero, and those that wore larger sizes rarely got booked. We live in a different world and we should really embrace and celebrate inclusivity and diversity. So that's what we started doing many years ago. It was just very organic. Like, it was not said one day, 'Oh, you know, we have to work on plussized models for the runway show'. It was not pushed in any artificial way. We're just kind of embracing what is organically happening and reshaping the platform to be what it is now. I think that's also very important because we live in a fast-changing world. And if you very strictly stick to a certain format, inevitably your event will die. So, I think just kind of leaving it open for the whole industry to shape it up for

what it needs to be is the right answer.

DG: And now some brands actually only cater to the plus-size community, which is a direct result of having the exposure. So, that's impactful. And Paraiso features many highprofile and familiar brands, but also many new up-and-comers. Who are some of the well-known brands that got their start after being affiliated with Paraiso Miami Beach?

NDS: Wow, there are so many. It's been 20 years of Miami Swim Week, and there have been a lot of designers, for example, Acacia which was founded by Naomi Newirth, is a brand that is based in Maui Hawaii, and we love it. It's just so Hawaiian and just gives you that serenity when you look at their whole collection. We started doing shows with Acacia when they launched over 10 years ago, and I remember it was a small show at Soho Beach House and they have been coming back every year and are now this big trendsetting brand in the industry right now. Every year their show

PARAISO Runway
Natalijah at Summer Fashion Summit Panel

is a highlight of Swim Week. So, Acacia is definitely one of them.

I also remember when Agua Bendita started, and many brands we worked with when Miami Swim Week started. They were all very small brands, usually shown through showrooms. And to just see them grow, see them pick up retailers, pick up wholesale, invest in e-commerce - it is just so wonderful when I go back and I see some of the photos and I see some of those designers. Like I was just recently looking at Catalina Alvarez from Agua Bendita and she was so young - just a kid. And now, the brand is such an important brand for the whole swimwear resort wear industry.

And I have to mention that we always collaborate with Colombian agencies, we collaborated in the past with Procolombia and now with Colombiamoda’s Inexmoda, which is their biggest trade show, and we always find ways to partner with them to bring in new talent from Colombia and present them here in Miami, and these brands really started flourishing, like Ankara, Bahama Mama, Bahia Maria. We highlighted a list of brands that are now doing great in the U.S. market.

DG: Oh wonderful! So once again, just like you did with PARAISO 20 years ago, you are bringing the swimwear industry a new and innovative event, The Summer Fashion Summit. Can you share some last words about the Summit and tell readers where they can learn more?

NDS: We will also offer a panel discussion that will focus on how to drive revenue growth within your brand. We will have Eloise Monaghan, the investor and serial entrepreneur, on that panel. She sold her retail empire Honey Birdette to Playboy for $440 million. She is an expert in the industry, and she will be educating attendees on how to grow their brand. I would love for this panel talk to maybe even develop into something that is more than that over time. So, certain brands will have the ability to come and present their brands to investors during Summer Fashion Summit and pick up funding for their brands.

THE LOCATION SHOOT

Controversial filmmaker Jean Mercier is shooting a film on location in Sweden. While spending the summer creating his latest work of cinematic art, he lives in a nearby inn with his lead actors: Albie Hughes, British veteran of stage and screen; Charlotte Reed, British indie film queen; Michael Hennesey, American TV heartthrob; Willow Barnes, fallen former teen star looking to make a comeback; and Finn Forrester, legendary Hollywood movie star. Mercier invites his friend Ella Sinclair—a beautiful, bohemianspirited American philosopher known for her provocative writing—to stay with them for the summer. When Ella arrives, Finn is instantly enchanted by her, and soon they fall madly in love. Finn wants to plan a life together, but Ella harbors fears and convinces him to wait until the film wraps to decide their future. In a case of life imitating art, the film they are creating explores “the big questions” and prompts the stars to reflect on the crossroads they face in their own lives. How will their experiences on location affect them when they return home? The answers won’t come until months later, when the cast and crew reconvene on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival—but their revelation will make for one unforgettable night.

Skylar Southmartin is not the naïve girl she was a short year ago. She’s made some mistakes and learned a few secrets to life, all the while clinging to the faith her mother instilled in her as a child . . . in herself. And now that she has discovered her life’s purpose within the pages of the ancient Book of Sophia, she knows what she must do: restore a vital memory to the Akashic Library, located deep within the Underworld of Earth. This library is sought after by many who are aware of its existence, for they know the future of human potential rests at its core.

Meanwhile, Devlin Grayer has been elected as the 46th President of the United States and his wife, Milicent, is miserable in her new role as First Lady—especially because the Great Mothers have asked Milicent to use her new status to help their cause, and she has no interest in tackling that task.

With the help of friends in the unlikeliest of places, Skylar’s journey reveals the significance of the darkness within all of us, and its potential to save or destroy the most precious part of us all: our soul.

The awakening of a modern day nomad, guided by three powerful women, charts the course to peace in the contemporary world amidst all the madness and hate. Someone must save humanity from the insanity.

AND NOW THERE’S ZELDA

It's been five years since Allison Montgomery's beloved father-inlaw, George, passed away and her cantankerous mother-in-law, Margaret, moved in. After nearly killing each other during their initial adjustment period, Allie and Margaret have finally buried the hatchet and have even launched a thriving home staging business together.

Today, Allie is enjoying life. That is until her twenty-two-year-old son, Cameron, unexpectedly brings home Zelda, his new fiancé. The problem is, no one has ever met or even heard of her. And when Zelda's first impression raises more than a few red flags, Allie finds herself in unfamiliar territory. Facing the prospect of becoming a mother-in-law far sooner than expected, and to someone unworthy of her darling baby boy, Allie's protective instinct kicks in. And who better to turn to for guidance and support than Margaret, her former nemesis and master of the mothers-in-law's dark arts. Allie and Margaret launch Project Zelda, an intervention of sorts designed to show Cameron who Zelda really is and to prevent him from making a catastrophic mistake. However, with Zelda's ingratiating behavior, Margaret's occasional disappearances, and Allie's doubts about turning into her own mother-in-law, will Allie find a way to reconcile her protective instincts or will history repeat itself?

At best, she's expecting a kitschy candy dish, at worst a beloved taxidermied pet, so when Cassie-newly divorced, single mom with zero prospectsdiscovers she's inheriting a fully stocked bakery along with a beautifully furnished apartment from a great aunt she'd never even heard of, she's convinced she must be dreaming.

The apartment bizarrely adapting itself to her whims and the friendly neighbor floating fireballs in the air aren't helping.

Cassie has two choices. She can hightail it out of this bewildering town and figure out another way to support her pre-teen daughter. Or she can stay and live the life of her dreams in this unsettling place where the rules of physics don't seem to apply, and people are suspiciously friendly and welcoming.

When Cassie and her daughter agree to give this new place a trial run (the fantastic pet shop next door is a helpful draw), she's not convinced they've made the right choice. That hesitation just might cost her the fantastic life she and her daughter deserve.

ABOUT THE CARLETON SISTERS

A Las Vegas showgirl, a diner waitress, and a heartbroken alcoholic—three sisters—are called into an obligatory reunion in California’s Central Valley in the late 1990s as a prelude to their mother’s impending death. Inside Diego’s Diner on Highway 99, Lorraine, the eldest of the sisters, attempts to convert the truckers and regional farmers to her religious beliefs while managing the counters and booths. Becky, the youngest, lurches into this scene after a night’s drunken romp. Meanwhile, middle sister Julie is en route on a bus from Las Vegas, where she’s just ended a long career as a Riviera showgirl.

Overshadowing the longstanding tensions between the three women is the unexplained disappearance of the sisters’ long-absent father from their lives. Julie is reluctant to return to River’s End, but she makes a valiant attempt to jump-start her life again once she gets there, even as she confronts the loss of the beauty she’s long used to mask her insecurities and failed relationships. Meanwhile, Becky struggles to stay sober and out of jail—and Lorraine throws herself into cheating her sisters out of their inheritance.

Summer is coming to a close on the East End of Long Island, and Alex is no longer welcome.

A misstep at a dinner party, and the older man she’s been staying with dismisses her with a ride to the train station and a ticket back to the city.

With few resources and a waterlogged phone, but gifted with an ability to navigate the desires of others, Alex stays on Long Island and drifts like a ghost through the hedged lanes, gated driveways, and sun-blasted dunes of a rarefied world that is, at first, closed to her.
