Fall is all about transition- when leaves start to change color and New York City becomes alive again with a flurry of autumnal activity before we transition to the colder days of winter.
Our Style Issue was inspired by New York Fashion Week which kicked off the month long globe trotting fashion circuit. Held the week after Labor Day, this season was jam packed this year with back to back catwalk shows showcasing new and upcoming designers alongside the established guard with shows and presentations held IRL and in the 21st century metaverse. Charles Barnes captured some of our favorite trends on the catwalk through his lens which we highlighted on the pages of our exten sive NYFW SS23 coverage.
On the heels of the U.S. Open, we had a chance to catch up with our cover star Taylor Fritz- a fast rising supernova in the world of tennis. At the young age of 24, he is one to watch for his powerful style on and off the court.
We also featured the uber talented and stylish actress, Ever Carradine who is best known for her chilling performance in the dystopian hit series “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
As the temperatures began to drop, we had holiday travel on our mindset as the world has reopened to explore. This issue we covered transatlantic sophistication in London, a cultural staycation in NYC, wellness rejuve nation in Miami, and basked in 5 star luxury in some of Mexico’s finest resorts.
Every month our editors scour the latest openings and launches to curate ‘Resident Picks’ to bring our readers a roundup of the best beauty, dining and real estate that popped up on our radar.
We hope you enjoy The Style Issue as much as we did in putting it together!

Fresh on the heels of a long hot summer in NYC, New York Fashion Week kicked off a week of glamorous fashion shown on the catwalks and in the tents. Established designers showed alongside new comers and this year designers played it safe with silhouettes and color palettes that were flattering and marked a return to femininity.
While some shows walked on the wild side of boldness, other collections were made for the social butterfly with a wardrobe meant to be worn to a whirlwind of fabulous parties. Here are some of our favorite trends of NYFW Spring Summer 2023.

While we have heard a lot about the other “Taylor” and her music. American Tennis star Taylor Fritz, while far less moody and myste rious, has taken the country and the world by storm. Part of Fritz’s success is attributed to his commitment to cutting-edge fitness as part of his training regime. As a result, he has created a dynamic, if not super-human fitness/physio program keeping him at the top of his game. In a recent interview, Taylor took time to reflect on everything from fame to fatherhood and his newest partnership with Equinox Hotels.
Joshua Estrin: You are being called by various sources, “The future of American men’s ten nis." How does this effect you? Is it motivat ing, or do you find it only adds pressure each time you play?
Taylor Fritz: Honestly, it usually ends up feeling like added pressure. I already hold myself to a very high standard and this is just an extra layer. It is not anything I can’t handle, and I do my best not to let it take up too much space in my head, but it is certainly something I am aware of and, it forces me to focus on what really matters; playing the best game I can every time.
JE: Your strategy on the court has been de scribed as “relentless” and “attacking”, with a huge serve and equally powerful forehand.
How does this compare to your demeanor off the court?
TF: I am that guy on the court and I make no apologies. That is part of what it takes to be a winner. Off the court, I like to focus that same intensity on my down time. I know that might seem odd, but I believe we all need to “train” ourselves to relax. I show a great deal of passion when I am playing tennis. I also show a great deal of emotion during my down time to the people in my life who matter. I guess in many ways I am that stereotypical Southern Califor nia guy who embraces a good “chill”.
JE: You are slightly taller than most male ten nis players. Has this been a strength, a weak ness, or both?
TF: I think it has been a mix of the two. People might think that if you are taller, you will natu rally be faster. While that might work in theory, I still need to move a taller, bigger body across the court. The more I get to know my body, the better player I become. This awareness has helped shape my strategy. I may not be as fast as some of the other players, so I make up for it by using my height to create a more aggressive strategy on the court. I am continually growing and learning about who I am as an athlete, and I use my entire body to my advantage. There is no
one size fits all formula. I keep an open mind and I am willing to try new training techniques that will allow me to continue to be a power house on the court.
JE: You are fast becoming a role model for young tennis players. Who are/were your role models growing up?
TF: I have a deep respect for all the “greats” and as new players emerge, I often find qualities in each that admire. I have always admired Pete Sampras as well as Del Potro. I was drawn to the way they played and want to emulate the way they attacked the game.
JE: You are Jordan’s dad. What is the best thing about being a dad?
TF: Honestly, one of the best things about be ing a dad is just seeing my son mirror some of the best parts of who I am. He is not a carbon copy, and he is already definitely his own per son. Watching him mature, navigate the world, and find joy in life is one of the best parts. He is a remarkable kid and every day he seems to learn something new. He has gotten so much better at tennis and soccer and, of course, that is great. The best part is just spending time with him. I love him and care so much about him. I might be slightly biased, but he is just so damn cool!
JE: Tell me more about your newest partner ship with Equinox Hotels.
TF: It has been amazing. It gives me the op portunity to train hard and at the end of the day come back to the hotel and relax with the opportunity to stay focused. Equinox is like no other hotel I have ever experienced. I have ac cess to a gym that would rival any professional training facility. This allows me to continue to train away from the “scene” of the US Open gym that can be crowded with players and some occasional drama. Equinox spared no ex pense and really took that time to think about what guests and athletes would need and enjoy. I feel at home there and, even when I am not competing, I can still come and train and use everything that the facility has to offer. Com ing to Equinox Hotel always puts me in the right mindset.
JE: What do you think is the greatest misconception people have about professional tennis?
TF: I think people have a lot of misconcep tions about professional tennis. The season is almost year-round, and we are playing tourna ments every week. The big tournaments get the coverage, but we are not just sitting home inbetween. I guess the other big misconception is that we get paid to lose. While we do make money even if we don’t win, we have to rank at the top of the sport to even be in the big tour naments. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard people say, “Wow, you get paid to lose?
I should become a professional tennis player.” I know they don’t mean any harm, but it takes hard work and sacrifice to rank high enough to “get paid to lose” and for the record, as profes sional athletes, none of us is in this sport wants to lose.
JE: What are your top three guilty pleasures?
TF: Oh, that’s and easy one! Eating fast food, staying in bed all day, and watching television or YouTube videos. I guess they are all related as I could eat fast food in bed and watch my favorite programs, and that would be one hell of a great day!
During a recent early morning chat, Ever Car radine shared about life, parenting, and what to expect through the eyes of Naomi Putnam in season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu. As a consummate professional there were no spoilers, just more than a few well-nuanced hints that this is the biggest season yet!
Joshua Estrin: You studied Anthropology and Sociology. How and when did the acting bug bite?
Ever Carradine: In retrospect, I was bitten by the acting bug at birth. I know some actors start down one road in their academic endeav ors and have an epiphany. I somehow made a “wrong” turn, meaning no disrespect to An thropology or Sociology. It was just never a fit or even an afterthought for me.
JE: You have been a consistently working ac tor in an industry where good work is often hard to find. What advice would you give other young actors just starting out?
EC: The most important thing is a commit ment to doing the work. I know that sounds a bit cliché, but it’s true. In doing the work, I don’t mean to state the obvious, learning your lines and showing up on time and prepared. That’s the easy part and part of what it means
to be a professional. By “doing the work”, I mean making the decision that you are all in and willing to be afraid, vulnerable, and often unsure. These are all the things that will make someone a better artist. Ask questions, lots of questions, and if the answers don’t make sense, ask more questions. Allow yourself to be seen and heard without feeling as if you have to fig ure it all out in the first few minutes. Never be afraid to bring your entire self to a role and never apologize for doing so.
JE: It would be impossible not to ask you about this season of Handmaid's Tale. What can viewers expect?
EC: Expect it to be bigger, expect it to be raw and painful. Expect it to shock, surprise, and outrage you. This season is huge, and it is abso lutely June versus Serena.
JE: In a show like this, how important is it to connect to your cast mates?
EC: It is the magic and without it, we never would have made it past Season One. The lives of these people [characters] are so entangled, enmeshed, and gloriously complex. There would be no way to make them so real and disturbingly relatable if we're not committed as a cast.
JE: Quite recently, this country was faced with a decision that felt like it was straight out of Handmaid's Tale. What is it like being part of this project when reality is mirroring fiction?
EC: Honestly, while I am thrilled the show is such a success, I certainly wish that so much of it was not so relevant and relatable to what we are all presently experiencing, not only in this country, but across the globe.
JE: What is your dream role?
EC: That’s simple, I want to do a western. Eve rything about the genre speaks to me.
JE: What is the best thing about being a mom?
EC: My kids are seven and twelve and they are amazing! I marvel at how they see and interpret the world and how they are forming opinions. They are exhausting and I think any parent un derstands I am not complaining but rather just stating a fact. I enjoy them and enjoy watching them evolve into people. Did I mention they are exhausting?
EC: This one is almost as easy as wanting to be in a Western. My “not-so-guilty pleasures” in no order are red wine, expensive shoes, and fresh flowers. They bring me joy and at the end of a long day, I want to kick off a pair of ex pensive shoes, drink good red wine, and smell freshly cut flowers. Is that so wrong?
JE: What do you think people’s greatest mis conception is about you?
EC: This might not be a nail-biter of an answer but for some reason, people think I am taller than I actually am.
Spending the morning with Ever Carradine was a rare delight. She is everything one would expect plus the rare gift of making a perfect stranger feel like an old friend. While she is her own woman in every way; it is clear that the best parts of this actor; her compassion, her strength, and her fortitude are reflected in the character, Naomi Putnam, she has so skillfully brought to life.

When you're short on time, squeezing in a sat isfying escape can feel like a tall order. With temperatures changing, school in session, and holidays coming soon, it can be hard to find something worth the trip.
Happily, however, just fifty miles off the coast of Miami lies the nearest Bahamian is land, Bimini. And spoiler: It’s Worth The Trip! The crystal clear turquoise waters, fresh seafood, delicious cocktails, rich history, and the island vibes are something you can’t find anywhere else. And when you’re looking for a quick weekend getaway, this is definitely one of the best.
Most of the time, locals enjoy arriving in style to Bimini via private boats, or yacht charters (it is only 2 hours away!), but when making a quick decision to go for the weekend here are our top two choices.
Via Seaplane: Tropic Ocean Airways
Located in: Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) https://www.tropicaircharters.com/
If you’re looking to save time, or have a once in a lifetime experience, Tropic Ocean Airways provides a 25 min flight from Fort Lauderdale which flies every day other than Wednesdays. This was seamless, I parked my car at the ter minal and we were off! For those curious to know which planes are flown, Tropic charters Britten-Norman Islanders, twin engine air crafts and can carry up to 9 passengers.
https://www.baleariacaribbean.com/en If you’re looking for a quick day trip, or easy in-and-out, the Balearia Ferry is a quick and easy 2-hour ride. They have charters going in and out of the island Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. If you are looking to soak every minute under the Bahamian sun, or need to travel on days the ferry does not accommodate, opt for the seaplane. The views of the water beneath us were incredible.
Staying on the island it’s extremely important to be on the beach, and lucky for you, Resorts World Bimini is the closest private beach to the coastal waters. Not only does it provide beach-access, with over six restaurants, luxury spa, private swim-up pools, and an incred ible marina. I was extremely impressed by the close community, and the A+ customer service, which really made the difference compared to other stays.
Ok, I have my roundtrip set, now where should I stay?Honeymoon Harbor Photo by: Nazli Del Mar
The Tides: This baby serves as a breakfast buffet in the morning and a delicious dinner spot at night. Located in the middle of the resort, The Tides is where you want to be day and night. Pro tip: Order the lobster truffle mac, and any other seafood you can get your hands on.
Beach Club 360: Chillin' by the ocean at Bi mini Beach and feeling' like it's time to grab something to eat? Luckily, you won't have to go too far thanks to Beach Club 360—a res taurant right on the beach featuring Bahamianinspired meals and drinks.
Smitty’s Beach Bar and Restaurant: A relaxed outdoor restaurant featuring beach views and karaoke. This is the bar to go to after you’ve
been out on the water all day and want to watch a game, drink a cold beer, and sing and dance all night long.
Monkey Business: Some of the best sunset views on the island can be found at the Hil ton's fifth-floor rooftop pool. Monkey Business has got you covered with its adults-only venue located right next to the adults-only rooftop infinity pool.
Nate's Bimini Bread: Introducing the yummi est bakery on the island, Nate's Bimini Bread will satisfy any sweet tooth cravings. Snag your self a loaf of the coconut roll bread and guava cookies, and buy a dozen extra to bring home.
Hemingway's: What’s coastal Florida with out Hemingway? Right next to the casino lies Hemingway's, a sports bar that serves up some damn good wings, burgers, cocktails, and bites.
The morning we went out it was a little choppy, but this is a GREAT dive spot. The S.S. Sapona was one of a fleet of concrete ships originally commissioned by former U.S. President Wood row Wilson, to serve as troops transport during WWI, because steel was in short supply. Later, the ship was moved to Bimini and was used as a floating warehouse to store and distribute liq uor supply during the Prohibition Era, earning Bruce Bethell notoriety as 'Bimini’s Rum King', in 1924. This underwater museum on Bimini’s powdery ocean floor holds many secrets, and is definitely worth visiting!
This was probably the most fun experience I’ve had in the Caribbean in some time. Our group went out to Honeymoon Harbor where we had the opportunity to feed the local stingrays. The rays are extremely friendly, and they love to swim around you! Heads up, be sure to walk
the Stingray Shuffle, keep your feet on the sand, and shuffle to avoid stepping on any of them. It was amazing to see how quickly they swam over when we arrived. Be sure to ask about Gracie, and if you see her say Hi from me! She is the largest ray I’ve ever seen, and extremely friendly. And sadly, you don’t have to be nervous because she’s missing her tail.
Ashley Saunders a local author, artist, historian and retired teacher on the island of Bimini has opened his home, to visitors who can take in his chaotic mosaics that act as homages to his island’s history. Saunders considers himself a dolphin inspired artist who tells a story of swim ming with a large pod of wild Bimini dolphins and attributes his artistic vision to that inspira tional experience.
Probably one of my favorite spots on the island. This tranquil beach is one of the most popular but not as heavily trafficked as the other beaches on the island. Tucked away, and just a few feet from coral reefs and rocks to give you an unbe lievable snorkeling experience.
Looking for a relaxation day after a long work week? Try the Serenita Spa in Resorts World. Choose your treatment from a wide selection of therapeutic body massages and nourishing body wraps. From the Bliss Massage, to the Sun Salvation Facial after a long day out on the wa ter. For more information, contact: serenity@ rwbimini.com
Let me just say, if you're looking to party and test a bit of your luck, Resorts World Bimini will hook you up with its in-resort casino. After spending the day out on the water, and visiting the museums, it was a great place to end the night with Hemingways sports bar, and Live music all night!
Sure, you may think this is a small island or that there’s so many other places to visit, but the real magic about this place? The community. From the moment I arrived on the island, I was greet ed with such kindness. Bahamians are known for their warm and family feel, and I can attest to that! This is a great weekend trip for yourself, or with a group of friends. With so many great adventures, and ways to relax, this was a price less experience.
