DAVI LEITE Davi Leite é stylist radicado em Belo Horizonte. Apaixonado pela imagem e pela estética dos anos 90, fez cursos livres de moda e história da arte. Hoje, é responsável por criar imagens das campanhas dos shoppings Diamond Mall e BH Shopping. Sua grande referência é a arte e a estética urbana, tendo como base o trabalho da dupla paulista OSGEMEOS. Davi Leite is a stylist located in Belo Horizonte. In love with the image and esthetics of the 90’s, participated in open fashion and art history courses.

Today he is responsible for creating the images for the campaigns of shopping centers Daimond Mall and BH Shopping. His greatest reference is urban art and esthetics, with a basis coming from the work of the “paulista” double “OS Gemeos” .

JOYCE AMARAL Com especialização em Negócios da Moda e MBA em Gestão de Projetos, Joyce Amaral é estilista há cinco anos e assina a coluna Radar Fashion da revista SALT há dois. Morou em Dublin, na Irlanda, onde pesquisou e estudou tendências da área.

Specializing in fashion business and MBA in Project management, Joyce has been a stylist for five years and has signed Salt magazines Radar Fashion column for two years. She has lived in Dublin, Ireland, where she did research and studied tendencies of the area.

KAYTA ALVES A estudante de publicidade Kayta Alves é também designer gráfica e fotógrafa de produtos. Acostumada a desenvolver catálogos para diversas marcas de calçados, bem como outras peças publicitárias, ela também integra a equipe de Nova Serrana da SALT. Kayta Alves is a publicity student as well as Graphic Designer and photographer. Already accustomed to working with catalogs for various footwear brands, in addition to other publicity pieces as part of the Nova Serrana team.

ZACH GRUNDY Australiano, já deu aulas de inglês na Wizard e Rizvi e atualmente cursa Administração. Nesta edição, foi responsável por traduzir todo o nosso conteúdo para o inglês.

Um novo tipo de consumo A new type of consumption Os hábitos de consumo não são mais os mesmos. Consciência, colaboração, respeito e sustentabilidade são valores que atualmente estão intrinsicamente ligados ao ato de comprar. Segundo a agência de pesquisa de consumo e comportamento Box 1824, estamos frente a frente com um novo conceito: o lowsumerism. Sai de cena o consumismo exacerbado, entra o consumismo consciente. De olho nesta tendência, várias iniciativas ganham força no mercado, sejam elas de empresas de grande ou pequeno porte, ou do cenário independente.

Do coworking ao “coclothing”. Dividir é a premissa da House of Bubbles, loja que faz sucesso na capital paulista.

Seu objetivo é dividir todo seu acervo de roupas. Funciona como um clube: o cliente paga uma mensalidade fixa e tem direito a usufruir de todo o acervo da loja, que inclui marcas nacionais como Reinaldo Lourenço, Cris Barros, Osklen e internacionais, como Christian Dior e Anthropologie. O cliente pode alugar uma, três ou seis peças de uma vez, durante 10 dias. Depois deste prazo, ele pode renovar as roupas já alugadas ou devolvê-las. Caso queira devolvê-las, é impreterível que elas sejam lavadas depois do uso. Não à toa, a House of Bubbles possui em suas instalações uma lavanderia, que deu origem ao nome (casa das bolhas, em tradução literal).

Lee Jeans Em outubro de 2015, a marca de jeans Lee desafiou seus consumidores durante a promoção de um modelo de calça jeans detentor de calor. Chineses de 32 cidades foram incentivados a sair, mesmo no frio, com suas calças detentoras de calor, para registrar seus movimentos através do aplicativo Warmth Tracker, do WeChat. Se o consumidor encontrasse e usasse os QR codes colocados em locações específicas, ganhava pontos que podiam ser trocados por outros produtos e entradas para eventos exclusivos da marca.

Rodrigo Martins, filho de um dos fundadores, Juarez Pinto Martins, começou a trabalhar na fábrica aos 16 anos. Hoje, aos 23, ele é sócio do pai na empresa, onde também atuam sua mãe, Conceição, e sua irmã, Rafaela. Reconhecida pela qualidade e conforto dos seus calçados, a Marina Mello aposta cada vez mais no design, atributo muito valorizado pelas mulheres. Conceição desenvolve a criação e o estilo dos produtos, junto com um modelista. A designer Ângela Diniz, de Belo Horizonte, colabora também nas pesquisas e viagens em busca de inspirações e tendências. “Visitamos Nova York e mecas do design na Europa”, conta Rodrigo.

Quanto à publicidade, a Marina Mello costumava anunciar em revistas e canais de TV nacionais. Atualmente, priorizam a comunicação na internet: o site está sempre atualizado de acordo com as campanhas e as mídias sociais da marca – são mais de 38 mil seguidores no Facebook e quase 10 mil no Instagram – contam com um consultor da área para as postagens e a comunicação com o cliente final. Rodrigo ressalta que o contato rápido e direto com os seguidores não apenas serve de termômetro para as coleções, mas beneficia o próprio lojista, pois indicam ao internauta onde encontrar o calçado. O planejamento começa, antes de mais nada, com um balanço do que foi. Por que através deste balanço, você percebe onde estão suas falhas, o que é preciso melhorar, onde estão os acertos. Porque também não é só olhar as falhas. Você deve olhar também para o lado positivo de todas as ações.

Se não tiver uma estrutura correta você não precisa abrir um e-commerce. Porque sua loja vai ficar vazia. Ninguém vai acessar sua loja.

Por que ninguém sabe que você existe. Você não tem braço no varejo para chegar até estas pessoas. Só abrir a loja não basta. A gestão comercial é o coração da empresa. Ela precisa de ter uma estrutura comercial bem feita, com uma atuação competente, uma equipe bem capacitada. Como uma avaliação de mercado, com a busca de novos clientes, com o acompanhamento dos clientes já existentes. Quando eu disse que é uma equação é porque depende de todos estes fatores. Eles não estão separados, eles estão interligados.

How will I sell this product? Because it all depends. I may need a greater commercial force, a smaller force, a certain amount of people working in a certain area, or maybe just at fares, or maybe I will need representation or a shop to sell from, or possible e-commerce. Eu discordo. Acho que o bom marinheiro vai se capacitar para mares calmos e mares turbulentos. Aprender só com o problema eu acho perigoso, você perde tempo. Quando se está preparado, mesmo durante os mares calmos você continua afiando seus machados, vai encontrando oportunidades antes do que aqueles que vão se ver perdidos nos mares turbulentos. Você percebe a diferença entre marcas que estão preparadas para mares calmos e turbulentos, porque eles não têm um decréscimo de venda. Elas podem não crescer, mas não perdem vendas.

Eu conheço marcas que estão passando pela crise tranquilas. Exatamente porque elas se prepararam, elas sentiram a pulsação do mercado.

Uma visão de que a experiência de compra é mais importante do que a perda que o proprietário possa ter com uma eventual saída do funcionário. Porque a experiência que você traz ao seu cliente com um bom atendimento, um bom relacionamento, de fato, plagiando a frase do Mastercard, não tem preço.

Não é fácil, mas é o desejo de todo empresário. A redução de custos é necessária para você oferecer um produto competitivo.

Todas as empresas sonham com isto. Em todos os lugares é isto que elas almejam. Mas é importante pensar: eu não posso cortar o custo em detrimento do meu cliente. Eu posso cortar o custo em áreas que não aflijam o meu cliente. A gente tem sempre que pensar em diminuição de custos e valor para o cliente.

Os custos operacionais. A própria operação, muitas vezes, tem uma série de gorduras que pode diminuir. É interessante também investir na produtividade para a sua empresa, com funcionários mais bem capacitados, que possam produzir mais em seu horário de trabalho. Um bom plano de carreira, que possibilite que estas equipes motivadas possam permanecer na empresa e produzir mais, premiação por produtividade, e outros tantos programas que possam criar nestas equipes o desejo de permanecer produzindo cada vez mais. Eu volto a dizer: eu acredito em redução de custos, mas desde que ela esteja acompanhada do aumento do valor para o cliente. Você tem que ganhar em cima do valor que você oferece. E não com a diminuição, apenas, pura e simplesmente do preço. Se você diminuir o preço, mas o cliente não perceber valor, você vai ficar com o produto parado.

What is the importance of brand positioning?

It’s not a simple thing. Basically, if we could make a definition, the position that your product, brand, occupies in the minds of clients. When talking about the position occupied in the mind of clients it is always in relation to other brands. Because your never alone. Even world renowned brands are not alone in a client’s mind. They share the space with similar brands. Now the position that you will occupy in the mind of this client is related to the value that you give to these products or brands, to determine whether you hold a higher position or not. But it will always be in relation to similar brands or products. So positioning is complicated, in which you can consider price, product mix, etc.

Havaianas largely invests in its brand image, a morena rosa does the same thing. Other such as Hering for example has transformed their mix of products, bringing together distribution, advertising and pricing.

Everything comes together, but you can elect an element to position your brand and then the others will be equated in a way to create a new position in a client’s mind.

Há algum case que você gostaria de citar para ilustrar a importância deste posicionamento de marca?

O case da Patogê, que foi uma marca que eu comecei com um trabalho muito mais de distribuição, para qualificá-la, e acabou se estendendo para achar um novo posicionamento. Ela teve que mudar a forma como ela distribuía o produto no mercado e com isso a gente pôde interferir também na estruturação fabril da empresa, no sentido de trabalhar um elemento que é fortíssimo na essência da marca, que é a qualidade dos produtos. A gente teve a oportunidade de trabalhar junto a setores produtivos, levando essa mensagem, introduzindo isto em processos novos, aflorando a qualidade do produto cada vez mais, trazendo novos valores para o produto, chegando até a montar um planejamento estratégico para a empresa. A Patogê é uma case porque levou também em consideração algo que é essencial, que é o posicionamento para o cliente. Teve a oportunidade de ajudar a montar vários trabalhos in loco dentro dos pontos de venda, a empresa faz um acompanhamento muito bem feito dentro dos pontos de venda, levando não só conhecimento de produto, mas também orientações sobre merchandising, maximizando os resultados através deste apoio em forma de serviço. Hoje, a Patogê, além de entregar produto, também oferece um serviço a este lojista. Não à toa, ela tem crescido de forma bastante agressiva.

Is there a certain case that you would like to mention to illustrate the importance of brand positioning?

The Patoge case, which was a brand that I started with more work on distributing to qualify it, and which ended up extending to find a new position. The form that the product was distributed in the market had to be changed, which meant making changes in the company’s manufacturing structure, in order to work on a strong element in the brands essence, which was the product quality. We were given the opportunity to work together with the production sectors, bringing our message, introducing them to new processes, and gradually increasing product quality, bringing the product new value, and even getting to the stage of creating a new strategic plan for the business. Patoge was also a case because it took something essential into consideration which is client positioning. I was given the opportunity to help start various on-site Jobs at the sales points, the company keeps good track of clients at sales points, bringing not only knowledge of the products, but also advice on merchandising,

increasing results through this special attention as a service. Today, Patoge not only delivers the product, but also offers services to the retailer.

No surprise that Patoge has grown aggressively.

Qual conselho você dá aos fabricantes de Nova Serrana?

Eu acho que a primeira coisa é pensar no seu negócio de uma maneira mais ampla. Por isso que uma ação de planejamento é tão importante. A maior parte dos empresários tem horror a planejar. Ele precisa pensar nas questões prementes da necessidade da urgência diária. Eu vivo em uma cultura empresarial em que se percebe que a maior parte da ações são focadas em apagar incêndios. Então, uma ação de planejamento é uma ação preventiva. Ela vai olhar para o seu negócio à distância e não muito próxima, pensando no que vai acontecer no final do mês. A gente precisa fazer um projeto um pouco mais a distância até para se ter um plano de ação que vá te levar a este objetivo maior. A venda precisa acontecer acompanhada de outras coisas, de um ganho de mercado, um ganho de imagem, de uma reverberação na sua marca, e outros fatores que não sejam pura e simplesmente vender. Porque, às vezes, se consegue um resultado de interesse, mas com aquilo você está massacrando a sua marca, está desvalorizando seu negócio. Essencialmente, é pensar no negócio como um todo, é pensar em prevenir incêndios, e não só apagar.

What advice do you give to manufacturers in Nova Serrana?

I think that firstly it would be to think of your business in a wider aspect. Which is why action planning is so importante. Most businessmen are afraid of planning. It is important to think about the daily pressing matters to attend to. I live in a business culture where I notice that most actions are focused on putting out fires. So an action plan is a prevention plan. It will give you a look at your company from a distance and not so close by, and help you think about what will happen at the end of the month. We need to make a project a bit further away so that it’s possible to reach the greater objective. Sales need to happen along with other things, like winning over the market, gaining a better image, brand reverberation, and other factors that aren’t purely about sales. Because sometimes you can achieve interesting results, but at the same time by massacring your brand, and taking value from your business. Essentially it’s about thinking of your business as a whole, about preventing fires, not just putting them out.

Na crista da onda, em boa parte graças à internet, onde divulgam seus trabalhos e arrebatam milhares de seguidores, os ilustradores de moda ganham cada vez mais espaço em publicações e campanhas de grandes marcas internacionais. Mas a origem dessa arte é antiga: começou no século 16, durantes as expedições, quando modos e costumes de novas terras, incluindo o vestuário, eram registrados através da xilogravura. Mais tarde, as revistas de moda também lançaram mão das ilustrações – principalmente antes da popularização da fotografia –, não só para mostrar novos modelos e tendências, mas com foco publicitário.

On the waves’ crest, in most parts thanks to the internet, where their works are seen and loved by millions of followers, the Fashion Illustrators gain more space at a daily rate with publications and campaigns for large international brands. But the origin of this art is ancient: It was in the 16th century, during the expeditions, when habits and customs of new lands, including clothing, were registered through hieroglyphs. Further on, the fashion magazines also left ilustrations behind– mostly before photography became popular - , not only to show new models and tendencies, but with a publicity focus.

Estimulante, expressiva, divertida e lúdica, a ilustração pode captar o espírito de uma coleção (com o olhar de outro artista), ser editorial ou criada para campanhas publicitárias.

While the fashion design or sketch is a representation of clothes and shoes to be produced by stylists, the fashion illustration is seen more as an art, loose and without technical compromise. Stimulating, expressive, fun and enjoyable, the illustration can capture the spirit of a collection (with the look of another artist), be it for the editorial or created for publicity campaigns.

Campanha inesquecível foi a da Luiza Barcelos para o inverno 2011: os sapatos da marca foram apresentados pelos traços da francesa Sophie Griotto, que tem em seu portfólio trabalhos para Cartier, L´Oreal, Hugo Boss, Clarins e Dior, entre outras. Lindo e delicado, o catálogo era destacável, para que as ilustrações pudessem ser emolduradas. Um charme!

Have you ever heard about the decomposer of each piece of material used to make shoes?

- Curvin is used in the fabrication of leather. It is a recyclable residue that can be reused for running soles, sandals and pitfalls that take more than 50 years to decompose.

- Nylon is used to make pairs of runners and the material can be reused to make pillows, sofas and fillers in general. It takes more than 30 years to decompose.

- Foam is also used to make runners, and is reused to make stuffed teddy bears and filling for pillows and sofás. It takes on average more than ten years to decompose.

- The cans are used as glue recipients to make all types of shoes and is recyclable when aquired by steel mills that melt them in hot ovens, creating new products. They take more then 10 years to decompose.

Você já ouviu falar sobre a decomposição de cada material usado na fabricação de sapatos?

- O curvin é usado na confecção do cabedal do sapato. É um resíduo reciclável e reaproveitável para solados de tênis, sandálias e rasteiras que leva mais de 50 anos para se decompor.

- O nylon é usado na confecção de pares de tênis e seu material pode ser reaproveitado para travesseiros, sofás e enchimentos em geral. Leva mais de 30 anos no processo de decomposição.

- A espuma, também usada na confecção de tênis, é reaproveitada para fazer ursos de pelúcia e enchimentos de travesseiros e sofás. Leva, em média, mais de dois anos para decompor.

- As latas que são usadas como recipientes de cola para a confecção de todo tipo de sapatos é reciclável quando adquirida por siderúrgicas, que as derretem em altos fornos, gerando novos produtos.

Leva mais de 10 anos para se decompor.

- O plástico é pouco usado na fabricação de sapatos, mas vem agregado a ela. TR, PVC, Nylon e espuma vêm embalados

em plásticos. Os materiais recicláveis podem voltar para a fábrica em forma de sacos de lixo, embalagens e tubos e leva mais de 100 anos para se decompor.

Uma exceção para os calçados feitos exclusivamente de plástico e que possuem um sistema próprio de reciclagem.

- O papel que é usado como embalagem do produto final no formato de caixas é reciclável, podendo se transformar em novas caixas e tubos para enrolar materiais. Leva mais de três anos para a decomposição completa.

- O tecido utilizado na fabricação de calçados, como nas sandálias femininas, por exemplo, praticamente ainda não é reciclável no Brasil e deve ser destinado a empresas especializadas. - A borracha usada nos solados dos sapatos é reciclável e seu tempo de decomposição, indeterminado.

- O couro usado na confecção de calçados não é reciclável e leva até 50 anos para se decompor.

Vendas online Em 2015, a Petite Jolie lançou um novo formato, uma espécie de pop up store via internet. Na Lojinha, são apresentadas campanhas mensais, com produtos limitados e à venda temporariamente.

O objetivo é aproximar a marca das consumidoras, como um canal de vendas direto, porém diferente e exclusivo. Através dessas campanhas, a Petite Jolie busca incentivar um mix diferenciado de produtos, que nem sempre são as apostas mais comerciais encontradas nas lojas multimarcas espalhadas pelo Brasil. Além do sucesso

nacional, a empresa exporta para mais de 50 países, entre eles alguns orientais, onde os acessórios e a linha de PVC vêm chamando bastante atenção.

Quanto às cores, que são mais do que uma inspiração para a criação dos produtos da Petite Jolie, mas a alma da própria marca, a equipe nos conta que tem se surpreendido com o sucesso do amarelo nas últimas coleções. No inverno 2016, foi lançado um bordô, que ainda não havia sido usado na cartela da marca.

O tom ficou lindo nos modelos de PVC e também está sendo um grande sucesso.

About the colours, which are more than just an inspiration for the creation of the Petite Jolie products, but the soul of the brand itself, the team tells us that they have been surprised with the success yellow has had in the latest collections. In the winter of 2016, a maroon colour was released, that had yet to be used by the brand. The tone came out beautifully on the PVC models and was also a great success.

O que leva uma bem-sucedida cirurgiã oftalmologista a colocar a medicina em segundo plano e se dedicar à criação de calçados? No caso de Tânia Diotaiuti, o fascínio. “Sempre procurei sapatos diferentes e digo que eles me ajudaram a escrever momentos marcantes da minha vida, mas quando fui estudar design de calçados femininos na Itália, não larguei a profissão. Foi tudo muito bem planejado”, lembra. Até tomar a decisão de ir fundo nos estudos, sua inquietude a levou, inicialmente, a buscar outros

caminhos como forma de expressão: frequentava cursos de história da arte, cerâmica e desenho de observação. Daí para os sapatos foi um pulo.

Her research goes over classic models, behavioural observation, nobel materials and tendency. “I work from the drawing to the modeling and the style. In the development, I work in a partnership with a

At the moment, her shoes are sold at the shop and in the brand’s social media (Instagram and Facebook, via Whatsapp) for all of Brazil.

In addition to the cutting-edge machinery, it is one of the few versatile areas, where production ranges from sporting shoes to feminine, casual and children’s shoes. Always present in the country’s largest fares, this edition for the first time is being published in Portuguese and English. “Following the external market which has been looking closely at national production, given the increased value of the dollar, and many retailers have been coming to Brazil with the Intention of Importation, we have chosen to go with the bilingual format”, explains the Director of SALT. Firmly on the mission to captivate the shoe manufacturers, collaborating with their interaction with retailers and motivating the breaking of paradigms, Salt has another reason to celebrate: Its recente fusion with Comenta Design and Technology. “Nova Serrana is only just beginning to find its feet on the internet. Com a intenção de inovar, inspirando um grupo de fabricantes do polo calçadista de Nova Serrana (MG), a revista SALT – sob o comando da diretora Hellen Viegas e dos colaboradores Jotta Sybbalena, consultor e designer de calçados, e Joyce Amaral, estilista com especialização em Negócios da Moda e Gestão de Projetos – promove a primeira edição do workshop “Fora da Caixa”, no mês de janeiro. Em quatro encontros, durante duas semanas, 20 convidados farão uma verdadeira imersão fashion.

A sede da revista vai se transformar em um novo ambiente, bem à vontade, onde os participantes terão a oportunidade de preparar um reforço das coleções de inverno 2016 (já mirando a 17ª Fenova, que acontece de 23 a 25 de fevereiro) e receber um conteúdo relevante sobre as tendências para o ve-

rão 2016/2017. Segundo Hellen, a ideia é levar conhecimento, informação – hoje tão dinâmica – e estimular o lado criativo do grupo, além de fortalecer os laços entre a revista SALT e os fabricantes do polo.

“Os convidados vão ter contato com os materiais e, literalmente, colocar a mão na massa, coisa que às vezes os fabricantes não fazem, pois deixam a cargo do modelista. Ao final do curso, cada participante terá criado um protótipo de calçado para inserir em sua próxima coleção de verão”, explica a diretora. “A abordagem será bem contemporânea, um choque de informação, gestão de coleções e cultura de moda. Afinal, Nova Serrana não precisa esperar as principais marcas nacionais apresentarem seus lançamentos”, completa Jotta.

“The guests with have contact with the material and, literally, get their hands dirty, something that manufacturers aren’t yet doing, because they leave the modeler position behind. At the end of the course, each participant will have created a prototype shoe to include in their next summer collection”, the diretor explains. “The approach will be very contemporary, a shock of information, collection managment and fashion culture. After all, Nova Serrana doesn’t need to wait for the largest national brands to present their releases”, says Jotta.
