EL CAMINO DESNUDO DJAKARTA - PURITY AND CONFESSION...

El Camino Desnudo

By rubĂŠn Torres

Djakarta is the duet that offers us its first album full of delicate sounds, invites to the inner journey as a cross between landscapes between wonders and naturalism, thanks to a collection of musical paintings of an immutable and essential beauty ... Exploring the melody in its most sensitive core, our two artists extract unexpected treasures of exquisite sweetness, melancholy and motivating.

The French-Australians Raphael and Tristan Stuart, also known as Jakarta, is the band that we chatted with for this edition, and the truth is reached with a first homonymous EP, and when we listen to it, we feel that they have been inspired by intimate trips and that motivated by these sinks in the purest pop ... in the wonderful universal music. Ep Djakarta 2018

The musical exchange of "Paranoid", suggests the tunnels of a parallel world, both attractive and strange, in a dazzling and reassuring clarity, the spontaneous continuity and the piano chords affirm and guide our steps in an instrumental labyrinth as virtuous as intoxicating. "My Friend", a call to friendship, as well as the fear of losing the one without whom our life would no longer be the same, moves us with the pain of intoxicating and painful choirs, but that we can not resist. Djakarta does not reproduce: it progresses, through its compositions, passing from one feeling to another without appearing inappropriate or shocking. "Rising Tide" for us the best theme, look west to the desert where everything remains to be built, where the water will soon feed a fertile land where some have lost hope; a contemplation charged with ambition and will, which continues in the dynamics and dance "You and me", as if the creativity of Djakarta knew no limits, "On The Moon" escapes, flies to new heights, even beyond, between the stars, while the litanies and six epic and sensory strings are fused. in our minds and drag us with them. Five wonderful presentation songs ...

Djakarta resembles what it is: these ancient melodies, these nocturnal stories; everything is offered with heart and humanity, leaving us admired and hypnotized by those minutes of purity and confession. Close your eyes, free your senses and let yourself be carried away by the pure, aerial and fleeting pop music of Djakarta, a band whose influences include Alt-J, Radiohead, Grizzly Bear and Tame Impala ... but with this their first EP, they walk by themselves alone, and we celebrate excited. DJAKARTA: PURITY Y CONFESSION...

They were formed in 2015, between France, Australia and based in Paris ... who are the ones who make up the band and if they can explain us a little about being such a cosmopolitan band, that's why it's a bit of each place? The band is composed of the two of us who are brothers, Raphael Stuart and Tristan Stuart. We have always lived in Paris but our father is Australian (from Melbourne). He came to Europe to become a painter, a sculptor and he met our mother in France ... The musicians that make up Djakarta come from other projects other bands along the way? Yes, from "The Ankers" (2009 - 2012) and "The Wankers" (2006 - 2008) Djakarta who is a duo, play live? If we play live as a trio with a talented young drummer and friend named Robin Betelu. Speaking of his first album, ep Djakarta, how long have the songs matured to put them on the album? ... And the album itself is conceptual inspired by intimate lyrics? It took us from one (1) to two (2) years to find the sound, write and refine the songs. Then we went to an amazing studio called "Studio Saint Germain" in Paris and recorded the EP there with our friend Producer Stanislas Neff (who worked with bands like HER, Polo & Pan, Lilly Wood & The Prick) The EP is not intentionally an album conceptual based on intimate lyrics, but we chose songs that meant something special to us, since words are a kind of outlet for our thoughts and feelings ... and we hope that people can identify with that. There are five songs that make up this ep, this EP contains songs that will be on your first LP? And if so ... when would you edit the new work? We do not believe that the album contains songs from the first Lp, We are currently working on a second EP that will be released in 2019.

Surely those that make up Djakarta will have different musical currents in their tastes? We love Indie Pop Rock Music, but we also listen to Hip Hop, electronic and classical music. We are inspired by bands like Alt-J, Radiohead, Tame Impala, Grizzly Bear, Balthazar, Glass Animals, Junip How do you see the world of music in this evolution or is it so cyclical that they go from bad to good times almost without blinking? Yes, the music is always evolving, the younger generation is influenced by what has been done before, trying to do it their own way and sometimes creating a new musical style, but in the end it is a question of taste That you compare them with contemporary bands like Portugal, the man or similar ones, bother you or do you think that the comparison within music is logical? We did not know Portugal, the man when we recorded the EP to be honest, but you are not the first to make the comparison. They have good songs and a musical production in their incredible songs like; Feel it still, Modern Jesus & Live in the moment. In Paris, there are very strong musical movements, in fact, France marks the rhythm of music worldwide. Do you come from one in particular? There is an electronic pop music scene in France that is big internationally, not especially from Paris but also from Reims (Yuksek, The Shoes), Versailles (Daft Punk, Air). We do not believe that our band belongs to any musical movement in Paris, but there is a good scene for Indie Pop Music with big halls (Supersonic, Pop up du label, Bus Palladium) and festivals (Rock en seine, Paris psychedelic Festival, Days Off festival , mom's festival) Where do you think they will be with music and with Djakarta in the next five years? In the next five years, we hope to have released at least another Ep and maybe one or two albums.
