developments, marketing initiatives and offering practical support to our evergrowing network of trade customers around the world. (We’re now in over 40 countries and rising). As part of our marketing push for 2019 we decided a few months ago to give our product catalogue a fresh, new look with interesting content in addition to featuring all of our products.

And so I bring you JLM Drive.

In this very first edition of JLM Drive you will find a double page feature on Darren Darling, founder of The DPF Doctor Network. Darren is a longstanding JLM Lubricants’ brand ambassador. Together with his network of specialist technicians Darren tests our new products when they are in the pre- launch phase. As you will see in his feature, he also suggests new products too…

Of course in our very first edition we had to make space for Luby, the new JLM mascot. Luby will be popping up in our videos and our marketing literature and he’s inspired a range of promotional gifts. Luby is already building a fan base with mechanics, stockists and motorists around the world. (Our distributors have taken to him so much so that we have had to design a pop up larger than life Luby!)

We also wanted to share with you the products we have launched in the last 14 months. Needless to say, our product development team is always busy. So, expect to see more new products in the next edition of JLM Drive! When there’s a clear need and a clear synergy with our brand we are always ready to push the button on new product development. Our emphasis remains on developing products that can be trusted by the trade to perform.

Catalytic Exhaust

Underbody

One of the most common causes of MOT failure is due to poor emissions. JLM products will, in most cases quickly cure the original cause of the problem, reducing the emissions to an acceptable level and avoiding expensive repair charges.

JLM Underbody Coating is a fast-drying, waterproof, resilient, oversprayable, sound-insulating and noise-reducing layer that provides protection against damage caused by chippings, such as gravel, grit salt or dirt. It also prevents rust and damage to vehicle underbody components, floor panels, wheel compartments, spoilers, doors, door sills and visible bodywork components.

Engine Chemistry teaches that engine oil is unstable and decomposes in the presence of oxygen at high temperature. The process, called oxidation, occurs naturally after exposure to normal operating conditions for extended periods of time and is accelerated by exposure to severe operating conditions or to excessively high temperatures. Alternatively, accelerated oxidation may be triggered by a combination of any or all of these factors.

Air Intake / EGR Even though EGR valves provide vast environmental and air quality benefits, they are also associated with issues as increased exhaust particulates, misfiring or hard starting and detonation, which are most commonly experienced by diesel car owners.

Radiator Radiator maintenance helps the engine operate at an optimal temperature to help extend the efficiency of your radiator and cooling system components and help avoid expensive radiator replacement.

DPF Diesel Particulate Filter The Diesel Particulate Filter traps the harmful diesel gases that gets cleaned regularly by a process called DPF regeneration.

The collected diesel soot particles are burnt off at high temperatures, which results in an “ash-like” after product. After the regeneration of the DPF, it can now restart the cycle of collecting harmful exhaust gases again. Sadly DPFs do fail and many diesel car owners do not realize how they are causing a blocked DPF. The main reason for DPF’s failing is due to car owners not doing enough miles and driving too frequently in city areas. The most common reasons for DPF failures are: Short journeys, clogged EGR Valve, faulty fuel injectors, incorrect engine oil, turbo failing or high mileage cars.

Exhaust Smoke When there is smoke coming from the exhaust system of a vehicle, it signals an issue with the internal workings of the motor. This is a very noticeable symptom of failure in the engine. White, black or blue smoke can be emitted from the exhaust system with each color indicating a specific problem.
