"God is on details" said Mies Van Der Rohe. And this is precisely what we intendet to develope in this project: Architecture until detailing.

Located in Caracas Country club, one of the more traditional and weath areas of the city, surrounded by golf courses and with the omnipresence of trees, nature and the Ávila mountain as a pictorical background.

This area were urbanized in the 40's with neo-colonial californian style villas, some of them still standing there.

The pass of time is not in vain and some of the former family members has grown, or original propietaries has died, and villas became or new buiding complexes or, like in this case, a house to gather the members of new family generations.

The project consists in the refurbishment of the original family house which would be turned into 3 new unities for the mother (orginal widow owner), the son and his own family, and the young daugher with also her husband and kids. The family wants to preserve the soul of the original house, as the memories of childhood are important to them. That's why the first idea became to leave the original house as the main façade al give it enought space to be seen. The first result is 3 volumes: one two-stories long, one three-stories tower and a single level volume. This configuration will be the theme to develope the resto of the project, repeating the original volumes, which will bring even memories to the new constructed parts.

In the ground floor are concentred social spaces such as Living, Dining Room and Kitchen with service areas. In the upper levels the bedrooms and family rooms, libray, etc. d

The result is three houses sharing a small distribution patio. The original house, remains as a house for the older of the sons. The smaller house becomes a retirement place for the mother, with a lift and room for a nurse.

The front façade remains like a big playing, gathering, meeting area plenty of trees and as an scenographis space for the joy of the memory of the family.

The great all-new house for the sister and family. This house were developed untill construction details. Brick, Wood and Steel are master materials. Light, Shades, Water, Nature are support elements for this unit.
