THOUGHTS DI EP THOU GHTS Hi Krakens! I cannot describe how proud I am of our division. I've seen officers and clubs work tirelessly to provide as much as they can for their clubs. I've seen members get out of their comfort zones and come out to new service projects. I know we aren't the biggest in numbers, but I've seen an incredible amount of growth. Personally, I'm so grateful for the people this club has brought into my life. Role models, mentors, and most importantly invaluable friends. It is so humbling to see people who are willing to make such a big effort to include Key Club in their lives, and it has been a privilege to be a part of that. For seniors, congratulations!!! We made it! For underclassmen, take the time to enjoy the rest of your high school career and really reflect upon where you invest your time. Even if you can't make it to every club meeting, make the time for the service projects, it's worth it. All in all, thank you for making this past year absolutely amazing. I'll see you all again soon! In Love and Service, Andrea Diep Immediate Past Division 33 LTG

GREETINGS! Hello my lovely Krakens! My name is Rheanna and I am so excited to embark on this journey as Division 33’s new Lieutenant Governor! A little about myself, I’m currently a junior at Federal Way High School and I have been a member of Key Club since I was freshman. This past year I served as my home club’s Scrapbook Editor and I can’t wait lead and represent the Division 33 Krakens! I loved seeing everyone so spirited at DCON and it makes me excited to see what’s in store for this next Key Club year. I also want to congratulate the newly elected officers, it is going to be a thrill getting to work with each and every one of you. I’ve been brainstorming many goals and plans for our division and I hope with your assistance, we are all able to strengthen and grow Division 33! In this month’s newsletter I included various pictures from DCON and some important dates to put into your calendar! I plan to use these newsletters as a way to communicate with the whole division, so make sure you look out for one at the beginning of every month! I’m so excited to see our Division thrive this year and remember to stay kraken! In Love and Service, Rheanna Borromeo Division 33 Lieutenant Governor

District Convention, better known as DCON, was held in Seattle Washington this year. Key Clubbers from all over the Pacific Northwest District came together to celebrate a year of service. This year’s theme was The Future Of Service, focusing on what Key Club would be like in 25 to 50 years from now. The future of Key Club starts with you! By becoming a active member in your club and community, you are one step ahead to building an even stronger organization!

Meet D33’s new Executive Assistants!

Divisional Officers

12

Hi, I’m Eric Hodac, and I’m happy to say that for the Key Club volunteering year of 2015-2016, I will be one of Division 33’s two Executive Assistants! Just so you all can get to know me better (and eventually, vice versa as well), here are some facts about me: I am currently a Junior at Decatur High School, I love drawing and doodling, I enjoy playing video games, I enjoy trying out new and strange foods, and most importantly, volunteering is always something I’ve loved to do. My goal as Executive Assistant for this year is to make sure Division 33 as a whole has a great experience volunteering, making connections, and of course, having fun. As Executive Assistant, I will try my best to help plan only the most engaging, most profitable, and most helpful volunteering projects, division activities, and other events. With the help of the rest of the Division 33 council and our LTG, Rheanna, this volunteering year will definitely be one of our division’s best, and one you won’t forget. Thanks to being able to hold this position, I feel honored to serve my Key Club division, the Federal Way community, and the Pacific Northwest district. Hope to see you all soon!

Eric Hodac

Hey Key Clubbers! I am Wesley Nguyen and I am one of the next Executive Assistants for Division 33. Here are a couple of things about me. I am a Junior at Federal Way High School. In my free time I love to spend my time with either friends or family members, it doesn't matter what we're doing as long as I am with them! I also love to spend my free time playing football and helping out in the community. How did I get involved with Key Club? Well it was my sophomore summer, my friend invited me to go to the Tacoma rally just so I could get a feel of what Key Club was like, and right away I was hooked! I met so many nice and incredible people that it made me want to join ASAP. So the next year, I Joined key club and became the Treasurer for my school's Key club. What I plan to do in this upcoming year for our Division is, I plan to help our LTG Rheanna Borromeo with anything she needs, whether its helping her create newsletter or creating Graphics for T-shirts, I am here to assist her and our Division.

In love and service, Wesley Nguyen

Divisional Goals

1 2 3

Strengthen the ties in our division: Throughout the year I plan to have more Presidential Council Meetings, to give Presidents and VPs more ways to collaborate with each other. I hope more contact and communication within the division will help members and officers create closer relationships.

Growing the Division: Similar to last year, I would like to see membership to increase by 10%. I plan to give officers several resources and ideas to bring back to their home clubs, to assist in growing their membership. I also hope to have monthly or bi-monthly divisional service events to give members the opportunity to see each other regularly.

Connecting Division 33 to the District: I would love to have more events, such as DCMs and various socials, with our sister division (Division 32). I believe bonding and meeting new Key Clubbers in nearby divisions will help members in Division 33 more comfortable learning more about Key Club on a higher level.

PREFERRED CHARITIES Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) was established nationally in 1983 to help children by actively supporting improved health care for millions of young people around the world. CMNH's mission is to generate funds and awareness programs for the benefit of children served by its associated hospitals, now numbering more than 170 nationwide

The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Key Club takes part in raising awareness by participating in their annual event March For Babies. The rising incidence of premature birth has demanded action, and the March of Dimes has responded by initiating an intensive, multi-year campaign to raise awareness and find the causes of prematurity.

UNICEF was created with a distinct purpose in mind: to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. For over 20 years, Key Club has been a part of Trick-or-Treat for Unicef. Every Halloween, Key Clubbers collect money in the signature orange boxes, raising money to support the well-known charity.

The

Project

The Eliminate Project is Kiwanis International’s Global Campaign to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. This deadly disease steals the lives of nearly 49,000 innocent babies and a significant number of women each year. The PNW Key Club District has raised awareness and money for this project by planning various events, such as Dance to Eliminate, Skate to Eliminate and the Elemonate Challenge!

This year, The PNW District raised $79,000 for the Eliminate Project! WOO HOO!!

International! As International President, my job is to lead our organization for the next year; to set the vision of what Key Club is, should be, and will be; to supervise and work with your 11 International Trustees, ensuring that they serve and work with your district properly; to unite all 33 districts under our common mission, and to do everything in my power to leave this organization better than I found it when I leave office in 2016. Key Club has an exciting year ahead of it! We’re entering the last decade of our first 100 years. We’re working everyday to make membership larger, stronger, and an experience that leaves all 270,000 satisfied.

As a Key Club member, you’ve chosen to be a part of something greater than yourself. Greater than your home club, your division, or even your district; you’ve chosen to be one of the thousands of hands Key Club International unites for the greater good around the word. As the saying goes, “United we stand; Divided we fall”: Let’s unite, Key Club. We’re a global network of smart, inspired, capable servant leaders. Can you imagine what we can do when we come together? It’s an honor to be your leader this year. I wish you the very best in all of your endeavors this school year- Key Club and otherwise- and thank you sincerely for being a Key Clubber. Let’s have a fantastic year!
