Contact with nature and regular outdoor exercise have been a part of Cynthia Howlett’s life since early in her life. Her parents taught her the importance of exercise and the inestimable benefits of exercise for life.

HEALTH AND MOVEMENT

Environment, health, and attitude is Cynthia Howlett’s motto, a woman known for the determination with which she throws herself into her pursuits and the healthy figure she carefully preserves. Good nutrition and regular exercise are her secrets. More than that: a source of pleasure she has been passionate about since childhood. “My parents are my gurus; I learned everything from them,” she says. At 34 years of age, the host of the TV series Perdas & Ganhos (GNT), Cynthia recently gave birth to her second child, Rodrigo, with actor Eduardo Moscovis. The little one joins her darling daughter of 4 years Manoela. The elasticity and vitality of Cynthia’s personality remained undeterred even in pregnancy. Shortly before her first child, Cynthia was regularly seen starting her day on a high note by swimming to Station 9 in Ipanema and back in her one-piece suit note. “The ocean always re-energizes me,” notes Cynthia, whose current exercise regimen includes running, swimming, Pilates, and dance. The only activity she sacrificed in her second pregnancy was running. “It is useless to make rules; each pregnancy is different. I just feel we should always exercise, as it helps us make it through to the end,” argues Cynthia, who adds: “I’ve done a lot of yoga and believe it is essential to work the body and the mind. What’s important is to not stop.” To Cynthia Howlett, quality of life does not conform to a set day-to-day routine. “To me, living is being able to take a swim in the ocean every day, exercising, not having a set routine. That is perfection, something which is not always possible.” With degrees in journalism and law, Cynthia is equally restless as an activist and professional. She writes articles on nature and environmental law and is a member of the advisory board of WWF. In addition, she has a book on the way titled Alma Rio (Rio Soul). And she displays no shortage of enthusiasm to accomplish ever more. Among her future plans, Cynthia is considering taking on a more active role in the field of health: “I am currently studying nutrition with a view to opening a practice down the road and specializing in child obesity.”
