Letter from the Editor

Enjoy Your Christmas Holidays!

This is our Third Volume of the Red Stick Club Newsletter. How about that. Time flies. Its Christmas time and we don’t have a meeting in December. But we have to get ready for elections in January. Its important that you let your voice be heard in the elections. This is the last newsletter till after the January meeting. My plan is to have a newsletter after each meeting, with a recap of that meeting. (So you have plenty of time to submit stuff for the next newsletter) We traditionally have a low turn out for meetings and even elections. But there is no shortage of talk on how the club is run. Here is your chance to let everyone know what you think. What direction would you like to see the club go?

Redstick RC Club meets on the last Wednesday of the month (except December) at Jones Creek Library at 7:00 pm

Burbank Field is located on Burbank Hwy, just south of Highland Road

With the January meeting, it is time to renew your membership. You will get an e-mail and letter in the mail soon. Get your dues in to help keep the club going. Also, I wanted to say a little something about the cover shot. This plane was built by Ben Andrus. He is with RC Baron, a local Hacker Distributor. He built this plane from plans that he drew up and it was scratch built piece by piece. Hundreds of hours was put into this plane and it really shows. The realism of the flight and static shots is incredible. We have soime really creative and talented people in our midst! Lastly, if you go to Fly In or visit another club take some pictures and send them to me. Let me know about what you saw, who you met. Till next Month....Krzy4RC

BRRCC Fall Fly-In November 1, 2014 BRRCC had their Fun Fly on November 1rst. It was cold, but there was a good turn out. Small planes, large planes and even a beautiful jet. Several local clubs were represented. We even had several Red Stick RC members in attendance. It was a good time and we thank everyone at BRRCC for their hospitality.

Meeting Review November 29, 2014 Meeting Date: November 29, 2014 Meeting was held at the field, on a Saturday, at 11 am. There was excellent attendence, with over 25 people in attendence. We may need to consider this as we plan our meetings for next year. Its great to have so many people involved in the meeting. The minutes from last meeeting were read and accepted. The treasurer’s report was read and accepted. We have approx $13,500 in the bank and 117 members. The club is financially healthy to meet the new year. Training: We are working on a club trainer. It will be stored in the can with a gallon of fuel. If you want to train someone or take them on a test flight it will be available. It will have a spektrum radio, so that we can buddy box. There was some talk about whether we should give everyone who comes out a test flight. That it could be a drain on resources and time of the people who are out to try to fly their own planes. Though it can be a lot, it was generally agreed that the reason we are one of the biggest clubs in Louisiana is that we are always there to help. So, we would like to keep up the test flights and training as much as possible, without putting too much burdon on any one person. Field: Tom Discon reported that he went to the Clerk of Court and looked up the property and it has been subdivided. This is a clue of the future plans for the property. The owner is obviously going to eventually do something with the property. December 2014

Though we do not know when this might happen, we should be proactive with looking for property for a new field. We do not want to leave any stone unturned. Though BREC hasn’t been a receptive in the past, there may be some opportunity now that we should investigate. There was also some properties that some people have been eyeing. We need to look at all avenues and even get the AMA involved to help us to secure a future and more permanent field. Election Nominations: Steve Blanchard and Rich Whitlow reported that we have the following people submitted as nominations for the four officer positions that the club has in its By-Laws. President: Rich Whitlow Vice-President: Rick Klusman (encumbant) Treasurer: Merv Howells (encumbant) Secretary: Chuck McDonald The nominations will remain open till the January meeting. So, if you would like to run or know someone who you would like to nominate, you can still nominate someone. Either let Steve or Rich know, or even post it on the forums. The person you nominate must accept the nomination. Tom Discon announced at the meeting that he cannot continue as president of the club. He has put in his time and left the club in good shape. THANK YOU TOM! For all of your service to the club. We wish you the best in your new business and hope to continue to see you at the field. If you see Tom at the field, tell him thanks. Meeting was then adjourned.
