November 26 Monthly Meeting 7:00 pm Jones Creek Library

Redstick RC Club meets on the last Wednesday of the month (except December) at Jones Creek Library at 7:00 pm

Burbank Field is located on Burbank Hwy, just south of Highland Road

We have reached the second volume of the Red Stick Newsletter. I have gotten a lot of positive feedback on the first letter. Let me know if there is something you would like added. Also, let me know if there is something you would like to contribute. We have a lot of experts in the club, in different areas. We also have a lot of new members that would benefit from things that some of us take for granted. So if you have an idea, lets do it! We are entering into some slower times for events and activities in our club and surrounding clubs. But, for a while the weather will provide some really pleasant flying weather. Make sure you take advantage of it! As for club business, this is the time of year that we vote on our officers. These are the guys that we entrust with the management of our club. Field Maintenance, Improvements, Activities, etc. So, make sure you participate in the process. In November we will work on nominating candidates. If you are someone you know is interested make sure you submit their names. The club is always in need of everyone’s talents to keep the club strong. Then, in January we will vote on the officers. Please make sure you make a priority to get your vote in! Looking at next year, there are a lot of facets of the hobby that we don’t regularly get to see or participate in. If you know of an event or you know about a particular aspect of the hobby, let me know the details and I will make sure that it gets put in the Newsletter. I will definitely be looking at IMAC next year and will report on some of that.

I visited the American Tuerff Flyers in Broken Arrow, OK this month. I have been there a few times and met some great guys. This time I met a couple of guys that were flying Pattern Ships. One large Mono Wing and a Bi-Plane. These were beautiful birds and the guys flew them wonderfully. I must say that a well flown pattern ship is certainly a graceful sight! Till next Month....Krzy4RC

Redstick Fall Fly-In October 11, 2014 We had our Fall Fun Fly on October 11th. Though we had a good group of people from our club and from the baton Rouge Club, we were certainly not crowded. If you had to miss the fun fly, you missed a good time! We had a plenty of great air, nice temperatures and not much wind. It was a great day.

sponsor for this event. Hobby Towne generously donated prizes. They were very nice prizes ranging from Ready to Fly Airplanes, batteries, motors and glue. If you need something for your plane or heli, make sure you check out Hobby Towne and let them know that we appreciate their support.

I also wanted to mention that we had a great

Meeting Review October 29, 2014 Meeting Date: October 29, 2014 Meeting started and the minutes were reviewed. This led to some discussion on some of the items that were read on the minutes. Most will be discussed in areas later in the recap. Treasury Report stated that the club is in good shape with approximately $12 - 13K in the bank. The main income was $228 from the Heli Fest and around $65 from the Fun Fly. For expenses, we had some lawn mower repairs and some expenses associated with the Generator and wiring, as well as the Port-O-Potty expenses. Field Report stated that the field is in great shape, but the grass is not growing as much. It will not be mowed this Thursday, but possibly next Thursday. It may be the last cutting for a while. Also, as associated business with the field the on-going electricity installation is progressing. Currently waiting on Dottie to mark the buried lines. Once that is done a trencher will be used to bury the line that will be used to go from the Generator (at the Sea Can) to the pit area. Then some additional drops will be done and ideally all the tables will have power outlets. New members Ronnie Franklin and Rick Brown were voted in. Welcome them, if you see them at thefield. Red Stick R/C Club

Safety Report/Discussion centered on three issues. The first was associated with the incident at the Heli Fest. It was decided that we will continue to discuss restrictions and possible netting to be used during demo flights, when maneuvers may include those that can be a little riskier for the crowd than the normal flying. Also, it was mentioned that a Preflight checklist should be followed to insure all equipment is working (and in the correct direction!) Lastly, it was discussed that some small children have been allowed on the flightline. It was pointed out that most are willing to do short babysitting stints and also that Micro’s can be flown on the West side of the field and the children can be there where it is safer. Just, please make sure that the situation is safe for everyone. No one wants an unnecessary injury. It was mentioned that when someone goes to Hobby Town that it would be beneficial for the club if everyone would mention that Red Stick RC appreciates their sponsorships of our Fly-Ins. New Business. Steve Blanchard and Rich Whitlow will be handling the nominating committee for the Officer’s Elections in January. If anyone has any nominations, please contact Steve or Rich. A short newsletter will be published in December to publish the names of the nominees. Meeting adjourned around 8pm.

Even if you cannot attend, please contact them if you would like to help with the toys. It appears to be a great cause. Lastly, I got the chance to visit the American Tuerff Flyers in Broken Arrow, OK. These guys were very welcoming and had some beautiful Pattern Ships that they were flying on a Tuesday afternoon. It was great conversaion with some great people and really good pilots. This club has both patter and IMAC competitors. If you are ever in the Tulsa area, look them up!

Scout Camporee October 4, 2014 Every four years the Boy Scouts have a Camporee where the scouts and their families can camp, try out some new adventures and have lots of fun. John Goudeau is on the executive council of the scouts and sets up over 80 activities and booths for the kids to learn about new things. This year there were approximately 5,000 people at the camporee to enjoy the fellowship and activity. John’s Grandfather, our own Raymond David and his wife, Janice take care of the booth for RC Aviation. The had set up for the kids to see static RC planes, some Micro RC Demonstrations and hands on building of their own glider. They invited me, Rich Whitlow to attend and it was an event I will never forget!

Several hundred boys were exposed to our wonder hobby of RC Aviation. One thing is sure, there was n shortage of enthusiasm from the kids or the helpers at the booth!

A very special thanks to Raymond and Janice for all that they do for the Boy Scouts and for including me in such a special program!

Classifieds Send me the stuff you would like to sell! I would like to thank the person who found the set of wing bolts and put them on the Frequency Pin Box. I thought for sure I had lost them during the rain storm! I knew this club had some great people!!

Safety Tip: When flying your plane on the first time or after make any changes, make sure you not only test that your surfaces move...BUT, make sure they move the right direction!
