MAPPING THE CITY

The relationship between topography and building type are mapped with parametric algorithms. Parametric inputs include green space, topography, road density, and building type density.

OAKVILLE MODERN Design commission by Oakville family looking for new-build modern design. Collaboration with Juliano Sisera.

CONDO RENO

Designs for 12 custom units in existing Toronto condo with views of High Park, commissioned by building owners.

Renderings + Virtual Reality experience made to sell custom units to new buyers pre-construction

CUSTOM HOME

Ongoing design and video renderings for an Oakville house after the demolition of all existing walls, leaving only foundations. Commissioned by the family to create their dream home.

Working with clients to create personalized design while minimizing short-term and long-term costs. This is achieved through construction methods such as pre-fabrication, truss joists, and passive energy systems.

Maximum building height for Addition is 4 Storeys or 12.5 metres tall Building setback for roadway to access parking lot

This residential building was created within an unused interstitial space between residential and commercial zones. In order for it to be built at four stories tall, this structure had to be considered as an addition to the mixed use building to which is was to be attatched. Additionally, the city restricted the width of this building so that enough parking spaces could be created to accomodate the adjacent commercial building. The architects were also restricted by the city in their use of windows along the side walls which would have violated the required 12 metre gap FIX[IIR FYMPHMRKW RIGIWWEV] JSV ǰVI TVSXIGXMSR This building was almost completely shaped from by-law restrictions and demonstrates the role of the building code in not only the function of a design but also its aesthetic qualities.

ART INSTALLATION

CONDO INSTALLATION Art Installation design for lobby of 32-storey Toronto building, RFP by QuadReal Property Group and Hariri Pontarini Architects.

OPTION ONE // WAVE

This installation implements a mirrored surface to create an abstracted representation of the site’s the urban atmosphere and movement of the city.

OPTION TWO // LAND

The site on which this new development will reside, has a rich topographical history that has endured many changes from the period of glaciation to urban development. The void spaces left in-between the topographical layers function to represent the spaces in which natural and human change has and will continue to occur. This installation captures the both calming and dramatic characteristic of the local landscape. One’s experience of this [SVO [MPP EHHMXMSREPP] ZEV] JVSQ HMǯIVIRX perspectives, further encouraging a sense of discovery and exploration for the land on which one lives.

OPTION THREE // STARS

This proposal will provide city dwellers with a star gazing experience, a sense of wonder, and discovery. Additionally, this will provoke a thoughtfulness about the beauty of the natural world, the history of the city one lives in, and the ways in which one may live more sustainably.

By day, shaded space and aesthetic value will be produced for the Bretton Place site. By night, this installation will transform the public space into a star-scape. The lights representing the star scape will be solar-powered and therefore, the energy of a star itself will provide an authentic, thoughtful, and sustainably conscious experience.

Design concepts created with partner Jacqueline Vandervaart

INSIDE OUT INSIDE OUT Sponsored by Slate Asset Management This art installation challenged the image and experience of the public realm through breaking down the barriers of public and private spaces. Upon stepping over a concrete welcome mat, individuals explored a variety of uncanny furniture pieces and household objects, created using the materials of the urban landscape it exists within. The public site was transformed into a playful experience founded upon connecting with others in a public space as though they were at home. In this way, the site became a temporary reminder of comfort, relaxation, and play.
