TA F E S A FA S H I O N TAFE SA’s fashion school has a strong history of producing great talent with graduates working for their own labels or leading fashion brands locally, nationally and internationally. This year TAFE SA introduced the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Fashion) in conjunction with Flinders University. The course will equip students with the practical skills and business savvy needed to make it in the fashion world. Why not give it a go? We think you’d be fabulous.

ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE Founded in 1982, International Fashion Academy Paris is at the forefront of French fashion and education and is the place to learn the French way of seeing fashion as art. The school breeds young design talent and commits to turning them into aspiring professionals. For the first time in history, the garments of these young talents are now brought to Australia thanks to the Alliance Française d’Adelaide. Five garments have been selected to be showcased during the fashion rundown, designed by five top students of IFA Paris including Ria Keburia, Adjoa Phillips and Chiang Lu. N A M E S, N A M E S, N A M E S FA S H I O N I C O N S 2014 is the year of fashion at the Art Gallery of South Australia. Some of France’s leading fashion designers will feature in a major exhibition from 25 October, with more than 95 emblematic haute couture garments on display. Incredible masterpieces from the collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris will paint a unique picture of Parisian style within the context of contemporary fashion design. The exhibition will showcase styles from 1947, when couturier Christian Dior re-launched haute couture with his New Look, through

the lavish splendour of the 1950s, the futurist dynamism of the 1960s, the inspired emancipation of the 1970s, the unbridled excess of the 1980s, and the pure minimalism of the 1990s. On display will be designs by Cristobal Balenciaga, Gabrielle Chanel, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Lacroix and more. Curated by the internationally renowned Pamela Golbin, the garments will perfectly illustrate the style of each of the iconic couturiers behind this history of luxury and sumptuousness and will reveal the universality of fashion viewed as a history of art and beauty.
