FEBRUARY 2018 ISSUE

Greeting

in the Name of our Lord Jesus, who has assigned 2018 for JMK as a year of transformation! Wow! With this Word of the Lord released during the 7 days of prayer and fasting on the first week of 2018, the rest of the 51 weeks are going to be weeks of awesome revelations, excitement and supernatural transformation! Let us live in expectation and anticipation of great things that will take place both in our lives as members of the JMK family as well in the Church as a whole. David's plea to God in Ps 144:7 was “Stretch out your hand from on high; rescue me and deliver me from the many waters, from the hand of foreigners, whose mouths speak lies and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood ” It is always a welcoming and comforting sight to see someone stretching out his hand to you - especially so for those who have somehow fallen, or those who have sat too long (probably passive pew seaters) and those who is looking for directions. And this is exactly what God is doing - stretching out His hand to us, ever eager to connect with us. Part of the prophecy shared by Sis Angeline in the article on page 3 says that “ I(the Lord) long for you (JMK family), to be with you, to fellowship with you.” But there is one thing we need to do to an outstretched hand - we must response to stretch out our own hand to connect with that hand. Without this response, the fallen will still be fallen, the passive pew seaters will continue to be the passive pew seaters and the directionless remain directionless. Before transformation begins, there must be a connection of hands! Another observation about David’s plea is that he identified the correct hand - the hand from on high. It is God’s hand that is always from “ON HIGH”. When you connect to a hand that is from on high, there is always an uplifting effect! God’s hand will lift you up! Don’t go for Continue on Pg 7… !1

Word of the Lord for JMK for 2018 By Sis Angeline Beloved brothers and sisters, I greet you in the precious name of Jesus. The Lord has ushered us into this year with His mighty presence during the 7 days of fasting and prayer. What a joy it was fasting and praying together as a family, being soaked in His presence, assured by His promises and being grounded in the Word through Pastor Steven. In these 7 days, the Lord has brought us to the next level spiritually. I am extremely thankful to the Lord for releasing His word to me. He spoke to me many things about my personal life and Ministry. He also gave me a scripture which sums up the words He has spoken to Pastor Steven Francis who has in turn shared during the 7 days of meetings. 2018 is The Year of Transformation for His children Be ready to see the uplifting of God in your lives. Scripture for 2018 - Proverb 21:21 Whoever who pursues Righteousness and Love (mercy / kindness / loving-kindness) Finds Life (prosperity / righteousness) and Honour Pursue means to: ¥ fervently desire ¥ diligently and constantly endeavour to attain something ¥ strive, make every effort, train, prepare To pursue we need to: ¥ have Self-Discipline ¥ reorder your life / priorities ¥ Put God first How can we pursue Righteousness? ¥ Seek God, Run after God ¥ Walk right with God ¥ Walk in Repentance (Ask God to check your heart) ¥ Stay in the Word ¥ Renew your mind (What is important to us is garbage in heaven & Vice versa) ¥ Guard your ways and your mouth - (Acts 24:16: I myself always strive to have a conscience without offence toward God and men)

I long for you, to be with you, to fellowship with you. Repent for I am the Lord your God. I will enable you, encourage you, strengthen you. Take each step at a time to renew your minds. Wait upon me and I will answer you. Doors will be opened. Rouse yourself. Rise up. Be above all your concerns. Take the sword I will give you to fight, intercede. You are my people and I will protect you. Fear not the endtimes for I will be with you. You are an army that I am raising. The remnant. Each of you will have a skill – to minister, to fight, to pray, to intercede, to evangelize, to motivate. I am with you. I will never leave you or forsake you. You are part of me, my children whom I treasure. Pursue Righteousness! The church will grow. Move to a bigger place. I will bring people to build the church. Do not worry about finances. I will supply, provide, give design of architecture. Do what I tell you. Obey me and I will do the rest. I am a jealous God. Only love me and no one else / nothing else.”

Prophetic Adventure to Myanmar By Sis Megan From the 1st to 5th December 2017, a team of eight of us went for a mission trip to Myanmar.

We went with the purpose of giving to those in need and to teach and share with them about our Lord Jesus Christ. However, as it is always the case for mission trips, ultimately we were the ones who were receiving and learning as well. All of my other mission trips were with my family, hence, it was my very first mission trip without them. Personally, it was another level of stepping out of my comfort zone as the Lord had been training me to be independent and yet fully and totally dependent on Him alone. Although most of the worship and messages that were being shared were in tamil and burmese and some of us could not understand what was being said, it was amazing how our spirits could receive and witness to what the Lord was doing. Despite the language barriers, we witnessed how the pure Love of Christ has no communication or cultural differences! I have learnt the importance of teamwork and how godly unity is vital in the body of Christ.

As I saw how elated the children were when they were receiving all the gifts and food, the Holy Spirit reminded me that it wasn’t just material and temporal things that the children were receiving, but that it was the provision, hope, joy, faith and love of Christ that were being shown and given to them, for the Greatest Gift that anyone could ever receive is Jesus Christ Himself. Many times we have unknowingly taken the blessings that God has blessed us for granted. This trip helped me realise never to take for granted the freedom that God has blessed us here in our nation and church. Throughout the trip, the Lord was teaching me not to focus on what I could or couldn't do, but to focus on what He can do through us. To be sensitive to the whispers and leading of the Holy Spirit, focusing on allowing the Holy Spirit to convict and sow seeds of His faith, hope, joy and love into the nation of Myanmar and into the hearts of the people. Also, to fervently pray especially for the youths and children that they will walk in the fullness of their God-given destiny and be everything that the Father has created them to be. Prophetic Adventure to Myanmar Continue from Pg 4… We also visited several community mission centres where we distributed school supplies like school bags and stationaries as well as school uniform and some snacks for them. Seeing the smiles on the faces of the children reminded me of the unending compassion and everlasting love of the Lord which never fails. We shared with them stories about Jesus and the Presence and the joy of the Lord was constantly present among us. It is absolutely true that God can use any situation and anybody He wants, as long as they are willing, obedient and humble vessels. On the third day of our mission trip, we went to a church named Jesus Redeems Assembly Church where Pastor Steven was preaching and I experienced the fire of God and His supernatural healing in a glorious way. I wasn’t feeling well at that time and was running a fever and was in pain and feeling weak. However, I could feel a tangible heat that had a burning sensation coming from within me that seemed to be increasing and spreading throughout my entire body. During that particular intense meeting, I felt the fire of God that was extremely strong in the midst of us touching everyone including me and after the session ended, I felt better almost instantaneously! The fever left me completely a few hours later and I was fully recovered! Praise God for the miraculous and speedy healing! All in all, the Lord moved mightily among the children, youths and even the adults! It was a memorable and enriching mission trip for me because of the encounters and experiences of the power, glory and wisdom of God which was something like I’ve never experienced before. Mission trips truly allows us to be stretched, to grow and to be transformed through the mighty working power of the Holy Spirit. I shall end by sharing this quote that has impacted me strongly and continues to be a daily reminder : “Speak only when spoken through, do only what God tells you to do, go only where He wants you to go and in the right time He’ll tell you what you need to know.” Paul emphasised in chapter 13 of 1 Corinthians of how the greatest gift anyone could ever give and receive is Love - which should be the ultimate goal and every motive and intention of our hearts in everything that we say and do. I thank God for this opportunity which has enabled us to share God’s heart and love through different avenues which has enlightened my eyes in many ways. I thank God that He would want to use us to demonstrate His goodness and faithfulness by touching and impacting lives because every soul is precious to the Lord. To God alone be the Glory!

JMK Christmas Carnival - A personal Reflection By Bro Jaypee Blessed is the name of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the Reason for the Season! This is the time that many childhoods are reminisced and sweetly remembered like how I did with mine. The joyful feeling of having all my family members participating in decorating the house with blinking lights, Christmas tree and the Nativity. What had also been remarkable was the December cold breeze that chilled us even for people who live in a tropical country like Philippines. Parents filled up shops to buy gifts with their children because even schools are having Christmas parties in every class. Families were busy buying groceries and preparing for what to cook for the Christmas Eve dinner. For me and my family, it was a time of prayer and thanksgiving before the clock ticks twelve midnight before we eat our sumptuous dinner. These are all memories that happened on those childhood years that has really etched a mark in me and influenced me to also create such a culture in my own family with prayer and faith in God. This year, it is my first Christmas as a husband, and I was excited and was wondering how I would celebrate Christmas with my wife of one month. We would be both celebrating this together and away from both of our families and would be very different from those memories that I just described. Even though only both of us are here in Singapore, we don’t really feel lonely because we have the JMK church family and friends to celebrate Christmas with and I thank God for that. For this year, in particular, JMK will be holding a Christmas event at the roof-top of our church! It was thrilling and at the same time scary, or even risky to think about having an evangelistic event on a busy and festive month in December for most families. It was also Jesus My King Church’s first time to hold an event of this kind – a Christmas Carnival! But however, as we believe Jesus had put the idea into the hearts of the church committee, then it shall be done. First of all, it is God’s favour that we have a rooftop that is available for use in any type of event and is perfect for something like this. Scheduled to be held on 23rd of December, meetings were held week after week to brief and practice parts of the performances like the King’s Men special number. The line up of activities for this event filled me with excitement and joy. Though I was not allocated a role in the performances, I have to make sure that I will not be travelling on those dates because we have no concrete plans yet as a couple by then. In the end, I was given a part to be the person-in-charge to man the X-box for a dancing booth including the setup of the stage and other technical stuffs. It was great to see people who has passion for God volunteered themselves for the various activities. Both the young and old were seen helping each other to decorate the rooftop. Indeed, the spirit of Christmas was really felt in the air. With the chilly weather and frequent rain that week prior to the event date, prayer groups in the church were activated to travail in prayer asking God to bring good weather, and to remove the risk that I mentioned earlier - where due to our rooftop is partially covered with shelter and the rest of the space unprotected from wet weather. What remained to be done is for us to really believe in our Almighty God who is God of creation and Lord over all. Continue on Pg 7…

JMK Christmas Carnival - A personal Reflection Continue from Pg 6…

God is faithful! On 23 Dec 2018, it was raining in the morning but amazingly all rain stopped before 4 pm and that allowed us to finish the preparations including the food, booths, stage, audio setup and the sound system. By 5 pm after some final touch-up, we were ready to receive the first quests. More people started coming in, including Pastor Steven who arrived before the program and kicked start the event with a word of warm welcome and prayer. A number of unfamiliar faces were among the quests, who, though initially kept to themselves, were slowly made to feel at ease through participating to sing Christmas Songs and enjoy the fun activities at the booths. But as we are enjoying the fellowship at the rooftop together with the great food with a “Filipino” touch, we were able to share the love, light and laughter of God to those who came. There were much to be anticipated as there were sequences of performances every hour for the visitors who sat, watched and enjoyed. There was a variety of talents which God brought in from the Sunday school, Secondary School students, King’s Men, home talents of JMK and recording artists to participate in the performances. My wife, though came in late from work, was still able to enjoy the remaining program as well as not missing the great food. Games at the booths are designed such that they both provided fun and challenges. Indeed, this is a successful event with great value, significance and meaning even for me who is celebrating this first Christmas as a married man, in a foreign land that now I call another home. I thank God for such blessing and grace to have been part of a community and family who has this Spirit of God that is tangibly felt with all the greeting, fellowship and support given to the event. Praise be to God Almighty and our Lord Jesus Christ who made this whole event possible and to the Holy Spirit who knitted us all together in unity to bring about an event like this. Hallelujah!

Continue from Pg 1… other hands! Further down the verse, there is a mention of these other hands - “hands of foreigners, whose mouths speak lies and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.” Beware of the wrong hands that may also be stretching out to you in the last days - those from below that may pull you down, or those from the sideway that may distract you. Dear Brothers and Sisters, transformation is not an automatic and no-frill process. We have a part to play and a price to pay - to respond and avail to be transformed. There will also be some sacrifices that have to be made. If you picture the process in which a block of raw wood is being carved into a piece of art, maybe a beautiful statue, a lot have to be chipped off from the wood, some deep cuts are needed, some grinding have to be done before the raw wood is finally transformed into that beautiful art piece. This is going to be the same process we need to go through before we can emerge as the art piece called “Christ-likeness”. Bro Francis Leong
