JUNE 2017 ISSUE
Greeting in the Name of our Lord Jesus who sanctifies, strengthens and builds up His Church into a state of readiness for the return of our Lord Jesus! Yes! There is no more urgent times than the present season we are in. The clarion call to be vigilant can never be emphasised more! Jesus is coming very soon! The bible says, “ For as were the days of Noah, kso will be the coming of the Son of Man. 38 jFor as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, lmarrying and giving in marriage, until mthe day when Noah entered the ark, 39 and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, kso will be the coming of the Son of Man.” (Matt 24:37-39). The 2 groups of people described here are one those who were nonchalant about the imminent flood and the other group is Noah’s family who took God seriously enough to build the ark and went into it with all the animal pairs as was instructed by Him. In today’s context, these 2 groups of people also exist, though the concern is not the flood and but the end of times and the coming of our Lord Jesus. The first group (not necessary non-Christians), are just living life as usual, flowing with the natural agendas of life - work, family, acquisition of wealth, building up career paths, expanding energy and time just to carve out niches of indulgences, security and fame. The desire for these pursuits, very quickly becomes an obsession that will muffle the end time prophetic warnings, so rampantly released in this season. The second group comprises the ones who hear God and obey readily His instructions to prepare for the end times, replacing worldly priorities with Kingdom values and launch into an intensive pursuit of God and His agendas, actively seek out opportunities to participate in His grand plan of salvation and setting the captives free! Brothers and sisters, let’s declare that JMK will be the 2nd group of people who hear and obey, and move with unwavering determination into the Destiny He calls us in! Bro Francis Leong !1
The “Well Sought After” Adventure By Sis Hwee Huan Introduction In early 2016, Sister Shirani from Sri Lanka shared in JMK about a well project in a war torn area in North Eastern Sri Lanka at a place called Mullaitivu and the project was opened to JMK for prayerful and financial participation. JMK members responded generously and sacrificially to the project. With this, Pastor Steven announced in January 2017 that both Barnabas and I will be making a trip there to inspect the first batch of wells built with the initial fund the church had invested. Walking long distance with knee joint pain is a real challenge for me. To Abba Father this is a setup for adventure! Preparation I started preparation to get myself physically fit and swam regularly 3 times a week to strengthen and tone up my leg muscles for distant walking. Another consideration was to decide what are the appropriate gifts to prepare or purchase to bless the community as beside the well inspection, an arrangement was planned to time our visit with two kindergarten sports day events in separate towns. We prayed over this and ‘parachutes’ came to mind. Yes, what an ideal, sizable, light and enjoyable gift that would last for a long time to come. We also bought packets of vegetable seeds for the villagers for farming. We praised Abba Father for His answered prayer when we seek Him. Adventure Began One of the unforgettable adventures was the 10-hour road journey from Colombo to up north by van. Just about 2/3 of the way we were stopped by traffic police. It turned out to be a learning moment for us to observe how Sister Shirani reacted and stood by godly principles of not giving in to their perceived intention. And it paid off as the policemen let the driver off without a fine after 20 minutes of negotiation and interrogation. The adventure didn’t end there, just when we were delighted to be back on the road, the engine began to stall. It was moving slowly and the driver could not engage into higher gears. Sister Shirani went into action and activated all her intercessors in Colombo and also a Pastor in the nearby town to pray. We were praying in the van and looking out for repair shop to get an assessment. Finally we found one and was told that it would take 3 days to replace the gearbox.

The Well Sought After Adventure Continue from Pg 2…
While undecided, the Pastor’s cousin found us and just after the conversation, the van’s gear was back to normal all of a sudden and we could get back on the highway. We were rejoicing in the Lord because we could hear the engine sounding normal and the stalling was completing gone! Praise God! The night was closing in and the driver was picking up speed and soon the inevitable happened again and we were stopped by another police check. As usual they were waiting for a counter offer and once again Sis Shirani maintained her stand and chose to ask for the ticket instead and we drove on. Another learning moment for us!
Visitations We had opportunities to visit and pray for some families. In spite of all the walking through dusty tracks and climbing up and down the van countless times my knees did not fail, praise be to God! We realised that black crows are plentiful in this nation. On three occasions when we were out visiting in the villages, there were eagles hovering above us in the sky and Sis Shirani pointed out that it is a confirmation each time when this happened that God’s presence is with us. What a comfort to know! Conclusion In the book The Ultimate Final Examination by the late Dr. Howard G. Hendrick said: “If you and I are going to serve and be approved, our service is going to cost us. If you want success and significance both will cost you. But it will cost you more not to have made the investment” Yes, we thank God for JMK church as a body to make that wise investment in the Kingdom. Amen!
