APRIL 2018 ISSUE

Greeting in the Name of our Lord Jesus, who trains our hands for war, and our fingers for battle. We are four months into 2018, and I hope we are all still charged up with the season of transformation, basking in the excitement of moving and working alongside the Holy Spirit to let the Almighty God mould us and fashioned us to the specification of the Kingdom! In Psalms 144:1, it is recorded, “Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war; and my fingers for battle.” The first part of the verse says, “the Lord, my Rock”. Rock is always seen as an element of stability, firmness and shelter. It is the place we want to run to in the wake of instability, uncertainty and when increment onslaught of circumstances bashes at us and it is there that we will find solace, comfort and rests, many times through supernatural working of the Almighty! Praise God for the Rock! The scene changes in the next portion of the verse to one of a training ground where David says, “ who (the Lord) trains my hands for war; and my fingers for battle” Something else is installed for the people of God. He wants His people to be battle-ready and victory-worthy all because there is the end time warfare to be fought and subsequently won! He is launching us into a season of training. Sometimes we hope just to stay in the shelter of the rock forever, enjoying the rests, comfort and stability of the rock. But that is not what the believer’s ultimate destiny is meant to be. Besides enjoying the benefits of salvation and God’s favour and goodness, God has something else for us - He wants to enlist us in His end time army to set the captives free! Continue on Pg 5…

King’s Generation Fun Day 2018 By Sis Megan The

first ever King’s Generation (KG) Fun Day took place on 11th March 2018 at the JMK Rooftop. The youths from ages 13 to 19 came together to have a great time of games, bonding and fellowship and the best way to find out how fun Fun Day was is to hear it personally from the participants themselves! The write ups below includes some of the enthusiastic feedbacks collected from those who participated : Joy Soh says: “We were split into two teams and I enjoyed all the games that we played as they were engaging and it taught us about teamwork which was heavily emphasised. The games also tested and trained our concentration skills which required us to focus, making them both challenging yet enjoyable. There was a sense of excitement and competitiveness all in the name of fun and working together as a team with one goal which is to win! Although my team wasn’t the winning team that day, we all still had a great and fun time filled with lots of joy and laughter. I thank God for blessing us with good weather and for a successful first ever fun day! I truly believe that fun day is a good platform and avenue in which we can reach out to our friends to ask them to come and join us and have a great time bonding and fellowshipping as well! I look forward to the next fun day and we hope to see you there too!” Sharlotte Chan says: “There were many games that were planned out by the committee. We played various games of chance and skill, and there was a healthy spirit of competition among the youths. As a team, we were able to display teamwork as we worked together as one team to complete in the games. Thankfully, the weather was friendly throughout the session and everyone had a good time there. I also thank God that our first ever fun day was a success and I look forward for more to come!” Continue on Pg 3…

King’s Generation Fun Day 2018 Continue from Pg 2… Sharlene Chan says: “The game that impacted me the most was the quiz where both our teams had to compete to answer the questions correctly first. However, there was a twist – all the group members had to shout their group’s cheer as a buzzer before they were able to proceed with answering the question. This game taught me a lot about teamwork and the importance of communication. Seeing everyone cheering their group members on for the other games was very encouraging. The encouragement from my group members kept me going as I competed with the members from the other team. Even though most of us wanted to win, it all ended well in the end as all of us enjoyed ourselves despite the results. Team spirit was also present, and I never realised that it could be so strong until that day. All in all, it was a really fun day and I felt that it was a very good way for the youths to relax and unwind, as well as bond at the same time. I thank God for this opportunity to have fun with my friends and I look forward to more of these activities!”

As

you can see that there are some common remarks and feedback about this event such as teamwork, good healthy competition and lots of bonding. Indeed, it was a relaxing and outdoor training and experience of working together with a strong spirit of teamwork and unity, doing them all in unique and fun ways! We also got to know each other better and how like the body of Christ, the different strengths of each individual person is essential and vital for effectiveness and productivity, to fulfil the plans and purposes of God. Above all, an overriding sentiment expressed by all of them is their thankfulness to God for such an opportunity to be involved in this fun and engaging event which brought a lot of joy and laughter - truly an unforgettable and memorable time that we all would never forget!

FINDING YOUR SHAPE & SHAPE UP! By Eld Barnabas Proverb 25:2a “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.” The ancient question “Why Am I here on earth?” has been one that had perplexed many people through the generations. For many of us, we are just armchair observers, admiring those who had “made it in life” and not having a clue why we are here. But if we will to seriously take time to give thoughts to it and not let the busyness and affairs of life to crowd out this important question, we could say as Paul said at the end of his life; “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” 2 Tim 4:7. We will be glad to have joined those in the hall of faith as spoken of “David had served God's purpose in his own generation”. I am glad and excited that finally we could all lay hold on a “comprehensive and compelling book to help every follower of Jesus uncover, unlock, and unleash their unique contribution to building the kingdom on purpose in ways that bring glory to God, benefit to others, and joy to one’s self”. As we look around we cannot deny that the created things on earth, they were all designed to function for a purpose. Be it the myriad of colourful florals that bloomed in different geographical locations or the birds that were shaped to fly and animals with the different shape and sizes. All these living things were designed to fulfil a function and purpose in the entire ecological system of life on earth. 1) You are special and there is no room for comparison As it is explained to us in the book, the form is determined by its function, just like the design and shape of every building conceptualised by the architects. But for each of us God uses five shaping tools to fashion us for our purpose in life and these are our Spiritual gifts, Heart passion, natural Abilities, unique Personality and very own life Experiences. May I encourage us all that as we discover our own and other’s uniqueness during our own study and also the open sharing in the zone meetings, let’s celebrate and affirm each other as God’s very own masterpiece even though we may not be perfect and is still a ‘work in progress’. As Rick Warren says in ‘The Purpose Driven Life’, “Only you can be you. God designed each of us so there would be no duplication in the world. No one has the exact mix of factors that make you unique.” 2) You have a key contribution to God’s overall plan that will bring blessings to you and others In the schemes of God’s overall masterplan of the Universe, He had skilfully designed our SHAPE to poise us to be a blessing to serve Him by serving others. One such story is that of Esther which involves someone from the humblest of origins, a Jewish exile, who rises to become a queen. Esther comes from a humble background of an orphan when both her parents died. Her father’s brother, Mordecai adopted her Continue on Pg 5…

FINDING YOUR SHAPE & SHAPE UP! Continue from Pg 4… and raised her as his daughter. He served as her spiritual mentor, Esther was only fourteen years old, but she possessed remarkable beauty as well as charm and tact beyond her age. She appeared to possess the gift of encouragement in the midst of adverse life situation and wisdom combined with practical faith that gave her the courage to risk her life to save her people. Hence as we examined and search out the ‘treasure’ within us let’s remember that it was never about us but it’s all about the entire body and communities that we are serving in and fulfilling the purposes of God here on earth that comes from total dependence on God and authentically display his love toward others. 3) Invitation to experience the love of the Father and to totally depend on Him It is comforting to know that in spite of all our personal flaws, our heavenly Father, Creator loved us with an unconditional love, and He loved us just as we are. God wants you to truly understand and accept who he has made you to be. He longs for you to experience the release that comes with simply living as the person he created you to be. The Bible says, “Each person is given something to do that shows who God is: Everyone gets in on it, everyone benefits” (I Cor 12:7, MSG). The more time we spend with God, the more we learn of his goodness and faithfulness – the stronger our faith in him and resulting in extraordinary living for God. He sees the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). He is the master craftsman, the master director, author and finisher of our lives. He awaiting for us to come close to Him and let him direct us on an exhilarating journey with him and it is never late as long as we step in now and let the ride begins! ‘ Remember, take time to enjoy the ride and do not be in a hurry to get to the destination. Bon voyage

One primarily aspect of training involves the hands and fingers! The most important syllabus in a soldier’s training program is on the use of the sword. How firmly his fingers grip a sword, and how his hand execute the striking strokes and strategic swing moves of the sword will decide the outcome of the battle. Likewise, the Christian soldier also need to be trained to have a firm grasp of the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God (Eph 6:17) as well as how to handle the sword to deliver the victory blows against the enemy. (2 Tim 2:15). Dear Brothers and Sisters, the Lord has installed many training grounds for His end time army. JMK is one of these! The very fact that you are part of this church signifies you are already one, or a potential participant in His great training plan. It is time to come out of the rock and get into the training ground and avail our hands to be trained for war and our fingers for battle! Amen! Bro Francis Leong

A Easter Reflection: A Brand New Beginning By Bro Raphael Lim As a teenager in this busy city One would wonder if it’s truly easy To do only one thing: STUDY! With so many voices around me I feel a little overwhelmed Facing people and expectations so unknown Compared to the playgrounds so familiar before. Friends who like you then change their mind Friends who leave you all behind Teachers that do their job for the sake of plans Teachers that really don’t understand Family that never really played fair Family always at work or forgetting to share Distractions like animals eating my time I’m empty while young, nothing to call mine. Busyness takes our life away Time flies by quickly Our joy cannot stay I sit in my room and wonder sometimes What it’d be like to find myself. Does it change when I start my career Or grow old and retired from work? How will I ever find joy complete? How will I ever find peace everlasting? Will there be a way forward While my time is wearing thin? What if there was a way out Without caving in? Do you know about Jesus?

Somebody once told me Jesus is the way the truth the life! My friend used to say “You should know what life with God looks like!” The Gospel says Jesus died for your sins you and me He rose on the third day and went back home to be The King forever, our hope beyond our fall The Saviour that truly reigns above all Ever since I knew He loved me, He wakes me up with His beauty For God so loved the world That He gave His only Son for us, for me Everyday He makes the sun rise And by His hand the day ends Each hour you stay by His side Everything in time will mend! Friends to keep, friends to hold dear Friends to tell about Jesus when they fear Family to love, family to care Family with whom you will always share Prayers to keep, God to seek Life with God is never so bleak Because we believe that God is in control Even through stormy weather We will be bold. So hold on, hold fast, hold true God is near, near you. Easter is a day of recognising That Jesus is still alive today But everyday is a day to remember That your life could go His one way. Will you receive Jesus today?
