The Riviera River Cruises story began in the UK in 1984, with escorted tours to the French Riviera. Since 2015, we have introduced more than a quarter of a million passengers to the wonderful world of river cruising. As the UK’s leader in river cruising, we now offer 11 ships, which are some of the most modern and well-appointed in Europe, on 22 amazing itineraries.

For 2023 we are delighted to offer even more flexibility on our holiday extensions. Now you can choose to stay at one of our hand-picked hotels for three-nights, at the end of your cruise, on our collection of City Stays and explore at your own pace. We have also launched a new cruise for 2023; Lyon Provençal Rhone & the Camargue. We have a number of cabins on every sailing that have no single supplement. These are double cabins used for single occupancy.

On the upper and middle decks, cabins measuring up to 183 square feet feature full floor-to-ceiling glass doors that slide away to create a French balcony, so you can enjoy the panoramic views.

Deluxe balcony suites

Enjoy even more generous space and comfort with a deluxe balcony suite. Located on the upper deck, and measuring up to a staggering 312 square feet – 50% larger than our standard suites. What’s more, there is a private full balcony with table and chairs – perfect for an al fresco breakfast.

Life on board

Staying on board a Riviera River Cruises ship is like staying in a floating boutique hotel. Our ships are truly world-class and one of the youngest on Europe’s waterways. There’s a country club casual atmosphere and dress code. Your guests will enjoy first-class service from an English-speaking crew and delightful dining, with meals prepared by professional chefs and served by attentive staff.

The on-board amenities are fantastic, with most of our vessels featuring a sauna, steam room, pool, fitness suite, library, and even a hair salon or treatment room. There’s also a 24-hour reception, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the ship, coffee and tea stations in public areas of the ship, a sun deck with outdoor chairs and sun loungers, as well as complimentary bicycles (except on the Douro ships).

Also worth knowing...

• On-board the currency is the Euro and Visa and MasterCard are accepted on all ships

• There’s a laundry service available at an additional cost, but no dry cleaning service

• Riviera operates a non-smoking policy on board, although smoking is allowed in specific areas on the outside decks

• Discretionary gratuities are paid in cash on board and the suggested amount is €8-€12 per person per day, although the choice is entirely up to your guests

• All ships have European plug sockets (Type C with 2 round pins). MS Emily Brontë, MS Thomas Hardy, MS Oscar Wilde, MS William Wordsworth, MS George Eliot, MS Geoffrey Chaucer, MS Douro Elegance and MS Douro Splendour also have USB plugs

• Wheelchairs and mobility scooters can be used on excursions but cannot be used on board and must not be left in corridors due to safety reasons

All cruises include a program of highly engaging and informative excursions led by experienced tour leaders and local guides. There’s also the option to add an extra hand-picked experience to “Personalize your vacation”, available on board at an additional cost.

Personalize your vacation

There is plenty of time for guests to explore on a Riviera River Cruises vacation. While our cruises include many specially selected excursions, we appreciate some guests may like to do more. On some of our itineraries there are hand-picked experiences that can be added at an extra cost, such as a visit to the world-renowned Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Spanish Riding School in Vienna or a wine tasting at a celebrated vineyard. Please refer to our cruise itineraries for further details. The cruise concierge will be happy to help arrange any individual requests.

Whisper headsets

Your guests won’t miss any commentary on our guided tours as we use whisper headsets. Small and unobtrusive, the headsets transmit to distances of more than 90 meters, making it possible to listen to what guides and tour managers are saying without having to huddle together. The headsets are great for anyone who prefers to take their time, and they’re especially useful in places where guides need to keep their voices down or in busy cities with lots of background noise.

On four of our river cruises, your guests are able to extend their cruise and enjoy an additional four days, staying three nights in hotels with breakfast and a programme of guided tours and excursions.

From sumptuous breakfasts with over 60 options to superb lunches and fine four-course dinners, our menus feature international classics and regional specialties.

Quality is an integral part of dining with us, and our ships take this to the highest five-star levels with delicious cuisine prepared by a brigade of professional chefs and served by smartly uniformed staff. Our wine list includes an extensive range of local wines in addition to classic favorites.

Enjoy first-class cuisine in the ship’s excellent main restaurant, or for those who prefer a more intimate setting, the Stern Bar transforms into our “chef’s restaurant” with seating for no more than 28 diners (no additional charge). Here, take in the fantastic views through panoramic windows, as the chefs present their signature dishes made with the freshest seasonal produce.

Open seating policy

At Riviera River Cruises, we want you to feel like you’re at home with friends, so we have a policy of informal free seating and smaller tables, avoiding the typical regimentation of many cruise ships. Tables are set for four to eight people for a more personal, intimate experience.

Special dietary requirements

Our talented and creative chefs will always do their best to accommodate requests, where possible. We are able to provide for vegetarian, gluten-free, low-sugar, lactose-free and vegan diets on most of our ships. We ask that you contact the reservations team prior to departure to confirm details with the specific ship on which your guests will be staying.

Beverage package

While we include everything your guests might need in our prices, we never charge for something they might not. We offer a drinks package, which gives customers a choice of drinks during lunch and dinner. Simply relax and when it’s time to dine in the restaurant, they can pick from a range of: draft beer; non-alcoholic beer; soft drinks; juices; red, white and rosé house wines; and wine recommendations from the menu by the glass.

A typical day

After a delicious breakfast your guests will spend the morning sailing through the glistening, turquoise waters of the Adriatic. They can take in the glorious coastal vistas from the comfort of their sun lounger on the fabulous sun deck and whilst they listen to the soothing lapping of the waves against the hull, enjoy a glass of something chilled.

We drop anchor in a tranquil deserted bay where your guests can enjoy a swim off the back of the ship – as if it were their own! Relax back on board,

enjoying the wonderful views over a delicious lunch, chatting with fellow guests about what lies in store before we moor in our next fascinating port of call.

Guests will step ashore for our included excursion and then enjoy some free time to make their own discoveries. They can enjoy an aperitif as the sun goes down before sampling regional dishes of the Adriatic at a restaurant of your choice. And end the evening with a nightcap on the ship’s terrace and contemplate all the wonderful sights seen during the course of the day.

Relaxed dining

Guests will wake up each day to an excellent breakfast, featuring a tempting selection of hot and cold options, while lunch and dinner feature mouth-watering menus, inspired by local cuisine. Enjoy delicious meat and fish dishes and crisp salads, all freshly prepared and served with finesse and a beaming smile. Of course, no cruise is complete without the superb Captain’s Dinner, a real cruise highlight, when the chef serves a truly sensational menu, with influences from both Croatia and the Mediterranean. Vegetarian, vegan and other special dietary requests are catered for by our experienced chef.

There is little formality on board – shorts and t-shirts are the order of the day. The consummately professional crew create a warm and friendly ambience to ensure your guests will be on first name terms with them and indeed many of their fellow guests in a matter of days. This is exactly how vacations should be.

Your choice of restaurants ashore

Our itineraries are carefully balanced so that your guests can enjoy dining out independently too. When lunch or dinner is not served on board they will have the opportunity to dine at the local restaurants ashore. The ships are moored overnight so every evening they can step straight off the vessel with ease for an evening stroll and further exploration of the delightfully unspoilt ports along the Adriatic coast.

Launched in 2018, the MS Adriatic Sun offers luxury, quite simply, on another level with upper deck cabins providing their own glamourous private balcony to take in the views. At 154 feet, she can still access the quaint unspoilt ports along this magnificent coastline, yet certainly makes a statement on the quayside, attracting envious glances from passers-by.

Accommodating a maximum of 38 guests, they will feel like VIPs from the moment they step on board and are greeted by professional, attentive crew. The contemporary interior is beautifully designed resulting in a spacious and airy feel throughout the ample public areas. Your guests will be served delicious cuisine in the chic, stylish restaurant, with a well-stocked bar. Take in some of Europe’s most dramatic coastal views from the magnificent sun deck where there’s plenty of shaded areas and an inviting hot tub.

Adriatic Sun

A total of 19 stunning guest cabins are available, measuring approximately 150 – 183 square feet. Cleverly designed and stylishly furnished for maximum comfort, in a calming palette of creamy colors and warm woods, with luxurious double or twin beds and contemporary fittings. All cabins feature wardrobe, desk and chair, TV, hairdryer and Wi-Fi, plus a sparkling bathroom with shower.

Located on the lower deck, enjoy a generously proportioned 183 square feet of living space, available as a double or twin, with two portholes and a bathroom window.

Category A Cabin

With just one of these cabins on the main deck, it measures approximately 172 square feet with a fixed double bed and two oval windows to capture the views.

Category A+ Cabins

Treat yourself to one of our superior upper deck cabins, measuring approximately 172 square feet with double or twin beds, one window and the luxurious addition of a small outside balcony with seating for two, to enjoy the invigorating sea breeze and breathtaking views.

Please note cabins 1 and 2 (front) on the upper deck measure approximately 151 square feet and feature twin beds that can be pushed together.

Excursions are included in all ports, and there’s also plenty of free time to explore on your own. Often, the ship stays in port late into the evening or even overnight, if guests wish to stroll ashore after dinner.
