STEADY EVOLUTION Cangini is an Italian company which produces machines for the demolition industry, the recycling sector, the landscape and street maintenance and a complete range of earth-moving equipment. At Bauma in Munich the company will exhibit the new shearing head TC Series, for the landscape maintenance. The whole range of the new shearing heads, both the one for the front and for the excavator, is characterized by a new double monocoque frame, blocked bearings for support rollers and an adjustable and removable front guard. Cangini will exhibit also a new sweeper for street maintenance: it is equipped with pivoting support wheels while the floating roller fits the ground thereby ensuring that the road surface is properly cleaned even when in presence of sinks or bumps. The sweeper is equipped with a serial floating system and can be applied on pallet forks, articulated loaders, backhoe loaders and telescopic loaders. EC 418

UNDER CONTROL Velocity, braking patterns and road surface can have a different impact upon the payload the truck transports. This has been the key reason for Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi Project mine in Mongolia to install on their big loaders the Vei Loader scale Millennium5 in order to load Trucks to the nominal capacity, preventing overloading and consequentely driving down haulage costs. After just 2 months of operation results are showing a fuel consumption reduction of 15% due to the elimination of underloads, waiting times at the loading site when the truck was overload, overload fuel consumption. But that is not all. Now with the Vei loader scale they can control production, know the total by loading site, understand the loading cycle time and where to improve it, have the total haulage by truck, the liters of diesel to produce one tonne, all unknown factors before. –

When it won the contract for construction site 113a on the B6N highway, Beton & Recycling GmbH from Bad Düben, near Halle an der Saale in Germany, was faced with a lucrative yet demanding job. They had approximately 50 days to raise an embankment in readiness for the construction of a steel arched bridge over the future Halle-Leipzig railway on the outskirts of Köthen. Beton & Recycling opted for three brand new, latest generation Case machines to fill key positions witihin the production chain. Site manager Torsten Hankel ordered one of the very first CX350C machines to be used in Germany for the extraction operations in the sand pit. With its output of 320 hp and impressive torque of 1,043 Nm, the new C series crawler excavator is ideally suited to demanding digging and excavation applications. The incoming material was spread and mounted by a new LGP (large grouser pads) 1650L bulldozer, the first Case dozer of this type to be used in Germany. Then the third new machine of the Beton & Recycling GmbH took over: a new type 1021F wheel loader, which had no trouble coping with the volumes of the material flows, thanks to its 4.4 m3 shovel. The large wheel loader with its ZF axles and 100% lock in the front axle was completely at home, even with a full shovel. EC 167

COMPACT IN SIZE, POWERFUL AT WORK The new Cat D Series Mini Hydraulic Excavators, models 301.7D, 302.2D and 302.4D, are powerful, versatile machines that work comfortably in confined spaces and in addition to the existing D Series line-up. With model configurations that closely reflect their operating weights (1.6 to 2.5 metric tons), the new Cat machines feature powerful hydraulics, a spacious operator environment and excellent service access. Compact in size, the 301.7D, 302.2D and 302.4D can be easily transported on a trailer, or in a pick-up truck. The 301.7D can be specified with either a fixed or extending undercarriage. The 302.2D is fitted with an extending undercarriage as standard and delivers a greater dig depth and lifting performance. A longer dozer blade is optional on both the 301.7D and 302.2D. FROM SPAIN TO GERMANY Spain based tower crane manufacturer Linden Comansa will display at forthcoming Bauma trade show two of its newest products: a 16 LC 260 Flat-Top tower crane, from its LC1600 Series, and a LCL 165 luffing-jib crane. Both models have never been exhibited in a trade show until Bauma 2013. Both exhibited cranes include the Effi-Plus high speed hoist mechanisms, which increase hoist speeds with light loads up to 70%. EC 367

NEW RENTAL EXPERIENCE
Metso is continuing to strengthen its presence in China by acquiring a manganese steel foundry (JX) in Quzhou City, Zheijang Province some 400 km Southwest of Shanghai. The acquisition of JX will improve their capabilities to supply wear parts to their mining and construction industry customers in China and other markets in Asia Pacific. “Metso now has a complete range of capital equipment and wear parts covering a wide range of customer requirements. By acquiring a new steel foundry in China we are able to better serve the needs of our Chinese customers”, states Andrew Benko, President, Mining and Construction, Metso. The year 2013 marks Metso’s 80 year anniversary in China. The company's first contract from China, a paper machine delivery, was signed in 1933. Today, Metso has a strong and well-established presence in China. Metso has recently strengthened its presence in the Chinese construction equipment market through a joint venture with LiuGong Group Corp. Ltd. and an acquisition of Shaorui Heavy Industries Ltd.

WELDING TIME SAVING Delta 630 All Terrain is the pipe and fittings fusion machine from OD 225 ÷ 630 mm designed by Ritmo to face the toughest working conditions. The machine is equipped with a 2,200 cc diesel engine which powers the 4-wheels drive traction and the generator. Delta 630 All Terrain is also trench-friendly: chassis can be removed from the trolley and top-load the heating plate and facer. The machine is available in 2 models: Delta 630 All Terrain M (manual welding control system) or Delta 630 All Terrain CNC (automatic welding control system). The “CNC” Fusion System which helps the operator to program and manage the fusion in a simple and precise manner and can store up to 400 joint reports. The Delta 630 All Terrain is available in two different settings, according to the welding regulation being used: ISO 21307 High Pressure vs ISO 21307 Low Pressure. When applying the first one, the clamps cylinders work with a pressure range that is three times and a half higher than the ISO Low Pressure ones. This enhances productivity, with a welding time saving of 60%.

At the new International Expo Center in Shanghay was held Bauma China 2012. Socage could not be missed among the Italian expositors therefore a DA328 was shown on the stand of the Chinese dealer, the North Traffic. The Socage DA328 is a double articulated aerial platform that can be mounted on trucks from 5.6 tons. This model is characterized by an extreme compactness comparable to models mounted on 3.5-ton trucks, in fact the total length is just 6,900 mm and the width is just 2,100 mm. This model is the most performing in its segment, able of a maximum working height of 28 m and a maximum working outreach of 16 m, with a safe working load of 225 kg (2 operators + tools). At Bauma exhibition in Munich the company presents the new Forste 28D, the first 28m double articulated platform mounted on 3,5 ton vehicle which means that anybody with a driving license can hire this model. THE FORESTRY SOLUTION At Bauma, the Vicenza company Trevi Benne shows the new solution for the forestry field. The de-forestation tool WT Series is an equipment which has been designed for felling and deforestation of logs, trees and maintenance of bushes such as the thinning of shrubs of different sizes. Necessary to operate at critical points with difficult access along roadsides, steep slopes, orchards, ensuring high productivity with the reuse the cut material for subsequent processing steps (stacking, chipping, grinding, etc.). The wood splitter clamp WS Series is an equipment designed for the size reduction on the ground of large logs of wood already cut in order to rationalize their transport, the subsequent processing steps (chipping, shredding) and to speed up the natural internal drying effect. It is equipped with a continuous hydraulic rotation that allows the wood splitter to dissect the trunk perfectly in the center, reducing the operations of moving and handling. The profile of the claws is designed to reduce the effort of penetration of the blades in the trunk, operation further facilitated by the presence of rolls. EC 520

COST-CONSCIOUS The all-new HG4000 horizontal grinder by Vermeer, which will be launched at Bauma, features cost-conscious features and engine technology that has shown fuel savings over similarly powered engines in this application. A European-manufactured 332 kW Stage III B Iveco diesel engine powers the HG4000 and meets all European Union emission regulations through selective catalytic reduction (SCR). To reduce material slippage and maintain controlled entry into the mill, a crush boost button function momentarily engages increased feed roller downforce on incoming material. For certain conditions, the variable feed roller downforce can be reduced or tem-
porarily paused to boost fuel efficiency and help extend component wear life. A range of screen configurations, including a dualscreen system, are compatible with the HG4000 and can be mixed and matched to help meet a wide range of end product needs. From a towing perspective, the HG4000 includes a pintle tow hitch and center-axle trailer or standard fifth wheel. Both include CE-required lighting, tires, anti-lock brake system (ABS) and underrun protection.

A NEW RECORD With the transport of a 5,000 t evaporation plant on Scheuerle SPMTs in Saudi Arabia, Almajdouie Logistics has secured an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records. The largest evaporation plant in the world, produced by the South Korean manufacturer Doosan Heavy Industries, is approximately the size of an entire football pitch. It is just one of a total of 8 facilities which were shipped from the factory in South Korea to Ras Al Khair Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. Upon its arrival in Dammam, 172 axle lines on Scheuerle SPMTs belonging to transportation specialists Almajdouie were waiting to take delivery. Altogether, 688 tyres began to move in order to lift the 4,891 t load from the pontoon. The final destination of the 124 m long, 34 m wide and 12 m high installation is the “Ras Al Khair”, sea water desalination facility - a distance of 2 km - which is operated by the “Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC)” in Saudi Arabia. The US $ 1.5 billion dollar project is designed to produce enough drinking water to supply around 3.5 million people. All participants in the project have been preparing for this transport for many months. –

SPEEDIEST EXCAVATORS Sleipner has developed a revolutionary method to improve the overall productivity in open-pit mines, quarries and construction sites. The improvement is based on moving the excavators around the site much faster than before. Additionally, the Sleipner method saves time and money and considerably increases the excavators’ life. With Sleipner, it is possible to move machines up to the weight of 550mt. Sleipner is essentially a dolly system, consisting of large wheels, and ramps with axles. One end of the excavator tracks is driven on the ramps so that the tracks are lifted off the ground. Then the excavator turns around, places the boom on the bed of a dump truck and lifts the other end of tracks by the hydraulic force of the boom. STRONGER SCREENING BUCKET Ramtec has launched new model of screening bucket branded Robi to fulfill the gap between models MM154 and MM254. This extreme heavy duty screening bucket Robi MM184 is made especially for pipe line application. The body has been reinforced, giving more space to hoses. In addition, the structure of gear boxes has been modified. Now they consist of two equal parts: frame and cover. The cover is stronger and in order to make service time faster, there are cover removing threads included in. The first MM184 has been sold to Veronese Impianti, a company located in Este, North Italy. The owner, Ugo Veronese, had a problem. They were using rotating screening bucket but with wet materials, the productivity was close to zero. Also rotating bucket was very difficult to use. The material was top soil from pipe line projects and the customer wanted to drive it to recycling area and screen it there. They tested mobile screen and MM184 side by side and found that MM is faster. They make more than 350 m3 per day; even though there are 30-40% of rocks to be screened. –

Leipziger Platz in Berlin was long considered to be Europe’s premier shopping address. The Wertheim Department Store, opened in 1897, was the largest on the continent until it was destroyed in World War II. Now the good old days of the department store are to be revived. The general contractor Arbeits-gemeinschaft Leipziger Platz Nº 12 (ARGE LP Nº 12) under the direction of Fettchenhauer Controlling & Logistic GmbH (FCL) has been appointed with the construction of a new shopping center. At the beginning of the year, premium manufacturer Wolffkran delivered an array of Wolffs to the German capital. FCL rented nine Wolffkran trolley jib tower cranes for the lifting of steel girders, concrete components and formwork on the twohectare construction site. The first crane was erected in January this year and the last one in place at the end of September. Wolffkran planned the assembly concept so that first the highest cranes with underhook heights of up to 86 m were erected on the periphery of the construction site. Using these cranes, the team then assembled the remaining Wolffs with underhook heights of 46 to 57 m in the inner area of the site.

TRANSDATA CHOSE CC2800 Lifting specialist Transdata is making a major contribution to the Renovation of the National Mane Garrincha Football Stadium in Brasilia, federal capital of Brasil. It will play host to a series of FIFA World Cup™ matches in 2014. Once complete, the capacity will be increased from 41,000 to 70,064, the stadium will be the second largest in Brasil and enjoy a reputation for sustainability second to none. Following a comprehensive engineering study, material handling specialist Transdata chose a 600t capacity Terex CC 2800-1 Crawler Crane used to help construct the stadium’s environmentally friendly rooftop, which incorporates photovoltaic cells capable of generating all the power required by the new venue. The rooftop structure is made of concentrically placed steel rope rings that will be tensed from load bearing structures on the sides of the stadium. The cover will be made out of canvas and incorporate photovoltaic cells. One of the tasks of the CC 2800-1 crawler crane is to lift the 29t steel wire rope sections and position them in the tensioning devices. Employing the vario adjustable superlift system with 60m main boom and 72m luffer, the crane is expected to remain on site for five months. EC 403

At Bauma 2013 in Munich, Bosch Rexroth is presenting an improved LUDV system for compact excavators that fully exploits the vehicle's potential and improves ease of operation. In so doing, the company is responding to customer demand for flexible, highly versatile machinery. Bosch Rexroth has further developed the individual components of the LUDV flow sharing system with the aim of significantly improving the performance of compact excavators while at the same time increasing fuel efficiency. The newly designed LUDV flow sharing system combines the new RS12 control block with a revised version of the tried and tested A7VO variable displacement pump. This makes it possible to significantly improve the productivity of compact excavators. At the same time, it makes operating the excavators easier and more comfortable. Moreover, with just one variable displacement pump, the number of components can be reduced and the cost of production lowered. And yet this does not compromise performance. Quite the contrary: in a test run, one of the first 6.5-ton excavators to be equipped with an A7VO pump showed an initial output 10 percent higher than that of a comparable machine. With revenue of EUR 186 million in the first half of 2012, the HAWE Group outperformed the same period of 2011 by more than 10%. At the same time, its workforce has grown to more than 2,100 employees. Figures for China and Southern Europe in particular have been on the decrease, but at the same time, the USA, Japan and Scandinavia have been generating momentum for growth. For 2012 as a whole, HAWE Hydraulik expects a revenue increase in the lower single-digit percentage range. In 2013, HAWE Hydraulik expects growth to pick up momentum again. At Bauma 2013, Bonfiglioli introduce a number of new products. In addition to its offering of conventional, single speed gearboxes, for a few years now, Bonfiglioli has been producing drives (in sizes 606 to 610) with a gearshift that offers a choice of two travel speeds. This series of drives has now been extended by the introduction of the new 611W2-3. Though it features an in-line architecture, this new Bonfiglioli gearbox is extremely compact. It offers a “low reduction ratio” drive for high speed machine transfers and a “high reduction ratio” drive for high torque and traction at the ultra-slow travel speeds needed for asphalt laying. FORMWORK FOR CIRCULAR TANKS The BioGas System permits the construction of circular tanks with a minimum radius of 7 metres and ensures the perfect tightness of the structures without having to use tie-rods. It consists of completely metallic panels with reduced dimensions and whose surface turned towards the cement pour, calendered with a very large curvature radius, is concave or convex depending on whether the panels are for shoring up the inner face or the outer face of the circular pour. The horizontal sides of the panels are flat and have holes for the vertical tightening accessories or the handrail uprights. As well as fixing to the adjacent panel by means of wedges, the inside panels are connected by fixed or adjustable props to vertical struts, creating a support structure suitable for supporting the pressure of the concrete during the pour stage. FOR THE LONGEST CONCRETE PUMP Paul Nutzfahrzeuge have builded a chassis configuration for the longest concrete pump available in Europe. The vehicle will celebrate its world premiere at the Bauma 2013 trade fair in Munich, Germany. In only 12 weeks, Paul Nutzfahrzeuge converted a four-axle Mercedes-Benz dumper chassis into a heavy-duty giant featuring seven axles, a total length of 14.99 metres and a GVW of no less than 75 tonnes. The chassis will be used as carrier vehicle for the new Cifa K80H concrete pump from the Carbotech series - a world first, equipped with an 80-m boom, the longest boom available in Europe. Deutz , Robert Bosch GmbH and J. Eberspächer have decided to restructure their alliance in the field of exhaust aftertreatment. To this end, Deutz and Eberspächer will sell their shares in Bosch Emission Systems GmbH (BESG) to the majority shareholder Bosch. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The transaction is subject to approval from the antitrust authorities. Deutz and Bosch will intensify their future collaboration as part of an innovation partnership in the fields of exhaust aftertreatment, diesel injection technology and electronics. The aim of this partnership is to integrate the drive technology systems for mobile machinery more tightly. BESG will continue to supply Deutz with exhaust aftertreatment systems. Since its establishment in 2010, BESG has supplied the modules for the diesel exhaust gas aftertreatment systems of construction equipment, agricultural machinery and commercial vehicles such as trucks and buses. ANTI-NOISE SYSTEMS The new variant realized by Company Anas, in closely cooperation with Reggio Emilia Province, is 5,5 km long, 10,5 m wide, with 5 roundabout junctions, one access subway to Dinazzano rail yard and 2 bridges 32 m long. Across Alessi tunnel, 414 m long, “Pedemontana” variant allows to remove the historical rift between the two districts of Casalgrande. For all industries, “Pedemontana” road will make easier the connection between Dinazzano rail yard, primary junction for goods mobility. From this strategic point, each year 4 millions ton of products for international markets are directed to boarding, equal to 20% of traffic flow of total district. Thanks to an investment of 27,2 € million, in addition to 1,5 € millions for acoustic mitigation works, this road will allow to release from traffic congestion residential areas, increasing safety in travel and assuring better services and competitiveness. WATERPROOFING OF ASPHALT Among the more interesting recent innovations in the road sector we can mention an antipumping elastomeric polymer bitumen self-heat-adhesive membrane - developed by Index - with composite reinforcement made up of a high resistance glass fabric and non-woven polyester fabric for the strengthening and waterproofing of asphalt concrete for roads, to be laid hot. To extend the effective lifetime of the road paving it is necessary to reinforce the bound layers in order to increase the load-bearing capacity and, at the same time, insert a waterproof and watertight layer which prevents water passing through, stopping the consequent pumping phenomenon. Autotene Asfaltico Antipumping HE/TP extends the useful lifetime of the road paving because: it stops the transmission of cracks; it increases the fatigue resistance; it reduces deformation of the asphalt; it cancels out the “pumping” phenomenon.

ROAD PROJECT IN FINLAND
The European Union will provide co-financing of € 4.4 million from the TEN-T Programme for a project to complete a missing part of the E18 motorway in Finland. The project, which is part of the “Nordic Triangle railway/road axis” (TEN-T Priority Project 12), will build an important section near the town of Hamina. The project, which was selected for funding under the 2011 TEN-T Annual Call, will build one section of the 15 km Hamina bypass and also install the relevant Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) applications. Once completed, the bypass will help improve the traffic flow on this key part of the Nordic Triangle road axis. The project involves the construction of a 6 km long section of motorway between Kolsila and Lelu, with five bridges and private road arrangements, and the implementation of traffic telematics (variable speed limits, traffic information system and tunnel safety and security systems) between Rantahaka and Lelu. The project is set to be completed by the end of 2014. –

On 1st February the Salini Group (the ceo Pietro Salini in the picture) had announced to have consolidate its leadership in the transport industry by winning three important motorway projects in Poland, Ukraine and Georgia , confirming its influential role in the infrastructure-development area. The contracts won in Ukraine and Georgia mark further Eastern European successes following the victory with Impregilo in Poland off the back of the two companies’ Strategic Agreement. Salini Polska and Impregilo have each won a 33.34% stake in a project worth € 253 million to build 75 km of the Torun-Strykow A1 Motorway in Poland together with Polish Company Kobylarnia (33.32%). The initiative, which is promoted by the Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Highways and co-financed by the European Union, is scheduled to be completed in 12 months and signals the return to Poland of the Salini-Impregilo Joint Venture, which built a section of motorway near the city of Katowice between 1994 and 1996. Completing the trio of new contracts in the transport sector, Todini Costruzioni Generali has been awarded two new projects in Ukraine and Georgia worth approximately € 273 million. With the help of Peri know-how, the longest underwater tunnel in the world is currently under construction in China. Two hydraulically-operated shuttering machines are being used for the efficient realization of 33 tunnel elements by means of the incremental launching method. Each standard element is an incredible 180 m long and weighs over 70,000 tonnes. In southern China, a very ambitious transport project is currently being realized: a 35 km long road connection across the Pearl River bay which is aimed at allowing Hong Kong to grow both physically and economically with Macau as well as Zhuhai on mainland China. One part and, in a sense, the central element of this mammoth project is the 6 km underwater tunnel - the longest in the world. Then, in the western area of the approach flight path for Hong Kong International Airport, Chek Lap Kok, the six-lane carriageway is positioned 45 m below the surface of the stretch of the water which in turn is the most important shipping route between the Pearl River and South China Sea. Two artificial islands form the transitions between the tunnel and bridge structures. Peri engineers from the Weissenhorn-based formwork and scaffolding specialist had already demonstrated their expertise during the construction of the 3.6 km long Oeresund Tunnel between Denmark and Sweden which opened in 2000. The above resolutions were passed with the favourable opinion of the respective committees of independent directors - established by the Companies in accordance with their respective procedures for related party transactions - regarding the interests of the Companies participating in the merger, the conduct of the merger, and the substantial propriety and fairness of the related conditions. The goal of the merger is the creation of a a global leader in the operation of motorways and airports under concession, with 5,000 km of toll motorway and over 41 m airport passengers served in 2012. The transaction will involve Gemina’s merger with and into Atlantia based on a share exchange ratio of 1 newly issued ordinary share in Atlantia for every 9 ordinary shares in Gemina and 1 newly issued ordinary share in Atlantia for every 9 of Gemina’s saving shares. WATERPROOFING SYSTEM This high-speed railway line, designed to link the cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong from 2015, will allow Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) to be connected to the rest of the national high-speed railway network in the People’s Republic of China, and to reach the cities of Shanghai and Beijing in just 6 and 8 hours respectively. The line is just a small part of an ambitious national plan to expand the Chinese railway transport system, which will be completed in 2020. The Express Rail Link (XRL) is a 26 km long stretch of the GuangzhouShenzhen-Hong Kong line in the area around Hong Kong. The Mass Transit Railway Corporation (MTRC) is responsible for the construction of the tunnels along this line, using construction techniques that have a low impact on the environment and guaranteeing the structural integrity of the area around the construction area
and a limited impact on the surrounding neighbourhoods. The “mechanized tunnelling” and “drill and blast” methods in particular have been used. Contract 822 is the longest tunnel (7.7 km) of the XRL Hong Kong section. This is a twin-track single-bore tunnel from 16 to 22 m wide going down to a depth of around 960 m. To waterproof the tunnel’s surfaces, Mapei has supplied a complete system of products such as Mapeplan TU S, Mapeplan GEO 500 (distributed in Hong Kong by Mapei China Ltd), Mapeplan Disk and Mapeplan Collar. Mapeplan TU S is a synthetic, single-layer PVC-P membrane with a orange signal layer. It has high mechanical properties, excellent workability and high welding characteristics. The partecipants are eligible also if they have in the last 2 years completed a research work in theory and/or practice. “ITA COSUF aims at a widespread adoption of best practices in the field of safety and security underground. Consequently we need to develop the culture and knowhow of practioners and scientists. We wish to attract the interest of the new generations of professionale on safety and security of underground facilities”, said Didier Lacroix, ITA COSUF chairman, commenting the board decision. The ITA COSUF Award 2013 will be presented on 4 June 2013, during the ITA COSUF Workshop on “Complex, underground multipurpose facilities: safety challenger and solutions” in Geneva (Switzerland). This is a scaled down version of the CNH stepless box found in the larger T7 models. KEEPIN’ ON MODEL REVAMP SDF is completing the roll out of its Stage IIIB tractor revamp. Focusing on DeutzFahr the Agrotron K line-up has been replaced with the Series 5 model range. For a mechanical transmission there is a choice of three models 100hp, 110hp and 120hp which can come in standard or P builds. The Series 5 TTV has a CVT and bridges the gap between the Agrofarm and larger Agrotron models. This will come with either 110hp, 120hp or 130hp four-cylinder Deutz engines which have SCR. The transmission is SDFs own unit, the 5400 ‘box, which is a tweaked version of the 5100 transmission used in the Agrofarm TTV, to allow front axle suspension and deal with the increase in horsepower. Higher up the food chain there are new additions to the Series 6 tractor line-up launched last year as six-cylinder semi-powershift only models. There are now two four-cylinder models, the 149hp 6150.4 and 166hp 6160.4. For those wanting a stepless box, there is now a TTV option for all Series 6 tractors. 10 FOR MY TEDDER For this season Claas is introducing the Volto 1100, a 10 rotor, 10.7m wide mounted tedder. A key feature of the new model is the firms Max Spread tedding system. This uses a cranked tine holder arm which gives a double whammy of benefits. Firstly the tine lowers to the ground much earlier in its cycle so it spends more time sweeping up the crop. When it comes to releasing the crop it is also spread more evenly over a wider area. Spreading angle can be adjusted from 12° to 16° without tools. A headland crop guard is optional. The 131-160hp four-pot tractors used a stressed block while the 151-175hp six-cylinder tractors which will replace the X70 range have a chassis. PIMP UP THE TRACTOR The Case IH engineers at St Valentin have taken Farmall U and added their bits to create the Farmall U Pro. In the cab it is easy to see where the influence has come from if you are familiar with the Case CS tractors or Steyr. The gearstick is now adorned with a multi-function joystick, with shuttle and powershift buttons as well as two electric spools and the rear lift. For those wanting to fit a loader it can be operated via the joystick controller on the armrest. There is also the option of upgrading from the standard 60 l/min pump to a 100 l/min closed centre load sensing unit. The steering and brakes have their own 35 l/min pump. The 32 speed Zf sourced gearbox has four powershift steps and the 40 km/h eco allows the engine to throttle back to 1.750 rpm. The transmission and hydraulic oil are also separate. Case IH also points out that the trio of 95-115 hp tractors with the Zf back end will not be offered in blue and shall be produced in St Valentin rather than alongside the other Farmall models in Italy. IMPROVED CHANGES Pöttinger has made a number of changes to the Terradisc cultivator. The disc carrying arms are now mounted in pairs on one bracket. This gives the rubber block protection system increased contact area with the cultivator frame so they do not deflect as easily in hard ground. Disc size has also increased from 510 mm to 580 mm, the extra metal means service life goes up by around 45% and the discs do not need to spin as fast. On the trailed 4-6m machines the transport wheels now use an up and over linkage. This places all of their weigh over the working discs. 40
